KYLEP182's SparkPeople Blog KYLEP182's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community 5 Weeks to 13.1 I want to start off by saying how amazing that my last blog post was voted a popular blog post. My reset is still going fine, although if anyone knows a remedy or antidote for loving baked goods then please let me know.

I have started training for a 1/2 marathon on April 13th, 2014. It's usually only until you go through something that you appreciate and respect the process that other went through. It makes me a little sad, but I think that its human nature. In five weeks, I will ... Sun, 9 Mar 2014 11:54:27 EST If Not Now...When So its been a while since I last posted on my blog. Its kind of sad because I haven't gone backwards on my healthy lifestyle, I just haven't gone forward. It wasn't until 25 days ago that I realized I still wanted to do more. I lost a lot of weight about 75 pounds, and I am proud of that but it wasn't the goal. When you lose a lot of weight, it feels good for people to freak out, ask how you do it or spread rumors about a surgery you know you couldn't afford. But that is just it...I'm still ... Tue, 18 Feb 2014 09:42:07 EST KP... the Gardener??? So anyone probably knows that losing weight and being healthy is not dieting but a changing your lifestyle. This week I am beginning some new journeys that I am excited for this week. So the school I work at was doing its part to promote healthy eating by handing out fresh produce and plants. In my excitement for the students I took a zucchini plant. However, I immediately regretted it as I am a city boy through and through, and had never grew anything but I now own a zucchini plant and peppe... Sun, 14 Apr 2013 18:08:20 EST The Results are in! So this past Saturday, I ran the Mud Run in 1 hr and 6 minutes! It was a great day and my wife was there to cheer me on which gave me the courage to finish. My goal was to finish it in 1 hr, but the camaraderie of two other Mud Runners made up for those 6 minutes. Also coupled with the fact my leg was not 100%, I feel pretty good about my accomplishment.

All this week I am off of work (Spring Break) and I have decided to take a break from exercise. Since running the Mud Run, other... Wed, 27 Mar 2013 12:15:52 EST The Race is Near... So this is the third week of my training, and I don't feel as comfortable as I should be about the Mud Run. The Sparkpeople streak is still going and that is exciting. I think I have been eating right although that could always be better and cleaner. It is especially harder to eat right when my wife is out of town. She is in her hometown enjoying her family and friends.

The only thing has not been really comforting is my leg started hurting early this week. It is a sharp pain i... Sun, 17 Mar 2013 20:37:32 EST Week 2 of Training The second week is done, and I again feel really good. I have buckled down and really focused on my eating, and exercise. I've got my longest streak ever going in terms of my daily goals on Sparkpeople, and my commitment to the race training. But I have understood that you need to listen to your body and also enjoy life (my wife especially likes that last part).

Its that last part that I think that has me mentally ready to complete the Mud Run. I am still on pace with my average ... Sun, 10 Mar 2013 12:51:56 EST 1st Week Up! So I officially signed up for the Big Sur Mud Run and decided to begin a 4 week crash course to be ready. The goal is to finish the Mud Run in about a hour, its about 5 miles so I want to average a 12 minute mile. I just wanted to show myself that if I buckled down I could complete it. I took a pretty standard race training guide, added it to what I was already doing in order for it to fit me. I also made a pledge to eat at lot more protein and less carbs then I normally was doing.
<B... Sun, 3 Mar 2013 11:46:26 EST V-Day Survival Teaching is a hard profession to stay on a track with a diet, but I'm proud to say I survived. At school every class, every group was hustling cupcakes, candy, cake, cookies and everything else I enjoy in the world. But I said No! Its funny the idea that one word can be so detrimental (A few potential Valentine's have used that word) and yet so empowering for my weight loss journey.

So I hope everyone else has survived the Valentine's Day onslaught and continues on their journey t... Sat, 16 Feb 2013 11:51:24 EST Sunday Funday!? Today is Sunday again although I am excited for the week, I always think about my failures from the previous week. I've lost a lot of weight but feel stagnant. I thought I would have abs and muscles that made my wife go crazy. Instead I'm healthier, but its always on the back of my mind. Sun, 10 Feb 2013 12:41:02 EST End of the Year Doom! As a teacher whose suppose to making better, healthier decisions, the end of the year celebrations can be summed up in one word: DOOM! I really appreciate working with a staff that I actually enjoy to be around and that like to celebrate (trust me not the case everywhere) donuts, cookies, beers and cake oh my! If I had to rate the end of the year for me, I would get it like a 6 out of 10. What was interesting about this year was that I was better prepared and was able to go to the gym every... Sun, 27 May 2012 10:28:32 EST Temptation I am a guy and people think we don't struggle in the battle with our weight, but we do. I am one of those guys always fighting temptation. I was good today, but really cannot be trusted with sweets or sugary products of any kind. Tue, 15 May 2012 22:08:20 EST
