I lost a bunch last week so I didn't really expect to have a stellar loss this week. I gained .10 of a pound. BUT... I've been exercising every day and think it may be related to gaining some muscle. AND I feel better for exercising! My arthritis hasn't hurt like it used to and I feel STRONG! So I'll take it. It's just part of my downhill Journey. LOL!!

319 332 237 319 332 237
<BR... Wed, 13 Feb 2013 13:51:13 EST Making Exercise FUN!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5245042 Exercise. Sometimes even those words make me tired. 211 I don't like to sweat and have that day after pain session. I remember "conditioning" the first week back at high school every year. We worked HARD.

But exercise is good and we need to do it more often. That left me searching for things I love, or loved to do. "Inner child" work for sure. I mean, I used to LOVE to play and exercise. I was outside all day long as a kid with my friends being active. So what would t... Since I'm living in California I picked them as the team to win... BOO!! But they played well.... Hey that reminds me.....

In this weight loss game of ours, we may not always be the winners. Sometimes we fall down when it comes to what we eat or whether we exercise or not. But we bounce right back, dust ourselves off and get right back in the game again, because, in the long run.... it's how we... Mon, 4 Feb 2013 18:28:22 EST A "No Guilt" Vacation http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5230503 Back from vacation and had to weigh in THIS morning! Well, I knew it wasn't going to be pretty because I've been really enjoying myself!! Up 4 1/2 pounds in 7 short days. Oh well, I'm back at it today and it won't take all that long for me to lose again.

You know how in Spark they say that if you are going to indulge, then really enjoy what you are eating? Well, I SURE DID! My brother-in-law owns a restaurant down in New Orleans area and this man can cook! He catered the party and... Wed, 30 Jan 2013 16:24:15 EST Oh PAIN, don't stop me now!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5212313 Halfway through our Winter Challenge and guess who is the Biggest Loser on the White Tiger Team this week? That's me!! A little over 4 lbs. in one week. I suspect that last week when nothing happened on the scales that I may have been retaining water. Who knows?? But so happy about the status.

This past week, I put in a LOT of exercise which is amazing in itself since I've been in pain literally every day. My arthritis, or whatever it is, leaves me almost hobbled in the legs. And ... Thu, 17 Jan 2013 23:23:01 EST So close! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5210439 Can't believe I'm just a hair off of the losing 20 lbs mark! I started my program the end of October, right before Halloween figuring it would be a good way to make it through the holidays. In 3 short months I've learned so much about food and exercise, about having good friends to support me with helpful comments and now I feel so much healthier! By this time next week, I'm going to be flying the "20 lbs. lost" banner on my Spark Page.... YAY! Wed, 16 Jan 2013 18:16:57 EST Lacking Social Eating Control... Ideas? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5200627 Had some company this past weekend. Boy did it ever make it hard to stay on the program!

I had preplanned some evening meals and even planned several trips to the gym with a guest, but we ended up going out for food and I really ate too much. Each time I would try to make the best choices and remain within the boundaries of the program but it was lots of little things... a trip out to the candy store for salt water taffy, a gift basket filled with food items, movies complete with ... Thu, 10 Jan 2013 13:54:34 EST Under 200 lbs. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5186843 I can't believe it! I'm under 200 lbs. for the first time in probably 6 years! I knew I needed a little challenge to get me on the right track. This week i've put in some extra cardio time and made sure to do all the Coach Nicole videos we were challenged with. I feel great not food deprived at all. And when I see my ticker, which is quickly inching towards the 20 lb lost mark.... well, I am proud, amazed, and SOOOOoooo happy! Wed, 2 Jan 2013 19:38:28 EST A Walk with a View http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5181509 Busy weekend, how about you? BUT.... still found time for exercise. My biggest walk this weekend was on our local beach boardwalk, 2.06 miles. That's pretty far for me. I've been slowly trying to get back up to 2 miles a day but so far, I'm around 1.25. Well! Ouch and ouch! LOL. I think I grumbled and grouched for most of the way back, but at least I made it.

I live just south of Pismo Beach.... yes the home of Bugs Bunny... ha ha ha ha. With these views, walking is a pleasure. <... Sun, 30 Dec 2012 22:39:34 EST Diets Don't Work http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5178801 That is..... when I look at "Dieting" as temporary. "I'm on a diet right now" implies that when I reach my desired weight, I will be done dieting. Same thing with Exercising. When I diet, I exercise, which for me, is NOT a regular thing to do. Typically I do it to lose the weight I want, but once I get to that "desired weight", I stop DOING all the things that made weight loss happen, and fall back into my old patterns of eating. And that's why I say, Diets Don't Work......

So I'm... Wed, 12 Dec 2012 14:35:03 EST A Quick Dinner Idea http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5152100 I was fumbling around on the message boards and found the question; What did you have for dinner tonight? Started me thinking about how much we help each other here with ideas. Let's face it, we are all trying to eat good and make good use of the calories each day. So I decided I might try to take a picture and calorie count of my dinner in case anyone was searching for ideas. Sometimes I cook. Sometimes I take a shortcut if time is an issue and occasionally, very occasionally, I eat out. <BR... Sun, 25 Nov 2012 22:34:38 EST Getting More Active! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5140468 Last week I found the virtual race page here on Sparkpeople. Well of course I had to sign up! I managed to walk a mile in a little under 29 min. That may not sound very fast but I think its AMAZING! I used to walk 2 miles a day but since my hip joint labral tear, my walking was a big fat 0. Now I feel like I'm training for something. I got out and walked every day last week trying to improve my times. Even the rainy days! And you know what? My leg is feeling stronger.

So signed up... Just when I was getting outside to exercise everyday. So I decided to work on some indoor fitness today.

Started with a warm up, yoga stretch style, then began my physical therapy exercises. Once I was pretty warmed up, I pulled out my exercise hula hoop.

If you have to exercise, why not pick something fun huh? Organization isn't easy for me right now. Maybe you can identify.....

This is the time of life I thought my husband and I would be enjoying each other. I got married at 18 and had kids right away and I THOUGHT they would be wanting to leave the house at 18 just like me..... WRONG! Wed, 14 Nov 2012 17:24:12 EST Bye Bye FitBit Ultra http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5134611 So the FitBit ultra went back. I know! Boo hoo! My computer, an Apple running Lion, would not mesh with the software. Then, double bummer, I found out they were discontinuing the Ultra altogether and replacing it with the FitBit One. So I made the decision to return it to Amazon, get a refund and wait patiently for the One to come out.

I'm SUPER excited for it to come! When I saw all the features it will have.....the ability to track steps, sleep, calories, how many floors you step... Got my FitBit today and I'm really excited to put it to the test. I've been working with a manual pedometer up until now and the results seem very inaccurate. So hubby and I are off tonight for a walk and I'll keep you posted on how well it works! Sat, 10 Nov 2012 22:39:43 EST What About All The In-Between Time In The Day? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5127674 One of the definitions of the word DIET: from Old French diete, from Latin diaeta, from Greek diaita mode of living, from diaitan to DIRECT ONE'S OWN LIFE]

As I was menu planning and making a grocery list for the upcoming week, I started thinking about "dieting" in a different way. Wed, 7 Nov 2012 19:13:35 EST Weekend Challenges http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5125292 Weekends are a challenge for me. Its difficult for me to stick to a diet plan when I'm either making several at home meals for hubby ( who doesn't need to diet) or trying to adjust and calculate calories when eating out. The first week I made food to bring along when we dined out casually but not so easy at more formal restaurants. So I find myself "banking" calories and eating almost nothing if I know we will be eating out.

This weekend, week 2 though..... SO much harder. I'm hun... Before that? Well I had been in pain for almost a year and a half with a bunch of wrong diagnosis. Bursitis, it will get better. Arthritis, you're older, you should expect that. It's in your mind.... yeah, I was actually told that too. I finally went to a specialist and he ordered an MRI and found I had an extensive tea... Tue, 30 Oct 2012 13:43:42 EST You guys are inspirational! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5115533 Super Sunday! Just proves that modifying does work. Today will be my first weekend on the program.... A little scary. You can probably identify how weekends just flow differently. Knowing this I've made up my exercise and food plan beforehand and my plan is to work it ike a regular day, minute by minute. Exercise is planned for early mornings so it won't get lost in the day and I'm using a pedometer to track walking.

Dinner is already in the crockpot and so Come... As I age, I try to stay on top of any health issues before they get really awful. My labs say blood sugar is up and that doesn't really surprise me. I've been unable to take really long walks like I used to due to a hip labral tear. But have decided to get some physical therapy (instead of suggested hip replacement) and things are slowly but surely feeling better. I've also been thinking of what I still CAN do for exercise like swimming and b...
