KRISTINWISHON's SparkPeople Blog KRISTINWISHON's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community Refocusing Well, it has been quite a while since my last blog post on here, and I must say that looking over my old posts is pretty depressing.

The past year and a half has been a time of personal struggle, and admittedly I got to the point where I completely let myself go. My weight has fluctuated by more than 30 pounds and several men have gone in and out of my life with little to show for it, until now.

I finally met someone worthwhile. Someone I want to pursue a real relation... Wed, 7 Jan 2015 20:15:43 EST Hitting the Bottom Well, it's been about 6 (ish) months since I have been on Spark People or put much thought into losing weight. Reading my last blog entry from the day before I started summer classes is kind of depressing, because I was making some nice progress up to that point, and then everything went to crap once school started again. Alas, here I am starting up my spring semester, and the story hasn't much changed. I'm just too busy to dedicate much effort to losing weight, and it sucks.

I'm ... Mon, 21 Jan 2013 03:32:39 EST Looking to the Future I have so much going on right now that I really need to take a moment to sort it all out in a physical form (outside my head), before I lose track of something along the way.

Well, I guess I'll begin with my fitness and health-related stuff. I'm now entering the third week of my 5k training (out of 7). I'm amping up the running this week. While my weight loss thus far has been rather slow after the initial drop, I'm not really worried about it. I know that I'm becoming healthier b... Tue, 5 Jun 2012 18:30:11 EST Week 2 of 5k Training Complete + June Goals! Well, I'll have completed my second week of 5k training after my visit to the gym tonight after work. Let me share my current progress with running and building endurance for my race on July 15th:

1. I no longer feel like I'm dying after my 30-minute interval runs! Woohoo!
2. My new shoes made all the difference in the world- my feet feel great!
3. I'm actually looking forward to my 5k days now instead of dreading them. It's like each one is a push to the next day.
... Fri, 1 Jun 2012 15:19:18 EST Great Workout Yesterday Yesterday was kind of a motivational turning point for me in my 5k training. I've been working on my running endurance for two weeks now and I finally don't feel like I'm going to die at the end of my workout, which is great! It leaves me feeling super pumped and ready to conquer the next day. Yesterday I felt so good that I doubled my 5k workout and did 60 minutes of interval running/walking instead of 30. I felt awesome! I also got in some elliptical and a good session of weight training. T... Thu, 31 May 2012 14:25:00 EST New Shoes & Planned Parenthood Internship!
New Shoes!

Yesterday I splurged a little and bought a new pair of running shoes in preparation for my first 5k in July. Before I was just using the old pair of sneakers I had always worked out in (I think they're walking shoes), and the difference in my run today was ENORMOUS. My feet have never been happier during a run. And the training today was great, not to mention the fact that this is probably the most ... Wed, 30 May 2012 20:13:46 EST Week Two of 5k Training. Well, I blew it this weekend. I missed the gym on both Saturday and Sunday, though I burned a ton of calories yesterday going on a Memorial Day hike with my boyfriend around the Columbia Gorge. And what did we do afterwards? We went to a Mexican restaurant and I definitely overate on unhealthy foods 198

The scale showed my mistakes this morning, since I'm up about two pounds from where I was on Friday. Boo! I'll just have to work out extra-hard today to make up for my sl... Tue, 29 May 2012 17:31:29 EST First Vegan Week + 5k Training Progress Well, about a week ago I decided it would be a great idea to captain a team for the Portland Be the One Run 5k on July 15th, which is working to raise funds for the National Bone Marrow Registry. I haven't managed to start fundraising with full-force yet, but I'm looking forward to a bake sale (my last one raised over $200!) and some motivational emails! I really want to raise at least $500 for this cause by the time the 5k roles around.

Besides raising money for the run, my goal ... Sat, 26 May 2012 14:43:34 EST
