I might be crazy

You know, one of the things I love about running is that it allows yourself to show yourself (that makes sense, I swear) who's boss. I don't know about everyone else, but the entire time I run, I argue with myself...you can't run any further... oh yes you can... just 10 more minutes... no 2....i gotta "go"... you can hold it! It's really maddening sometimes, but I find that the more I run the easier it is to drown out that little voice... to triumph over my weak will. It's week 5 of my mara...

frustrating week...er...month

This past month has been a frustrating one. I was doing SO well there for a while, working out every day and watching my diet closely. I dropped 9 pounds, almost halfway to my goal! But then I went to a friend's party, had a little too much to drink, and pigged on at the appetizer table. Ever since then, it's been a downward spiral and I've been eating like it's going out of style.

I hate that it's either all or nothing with me when it comes to my health. When given the slightest...

QUIT! GIVE UP! YOU'RE BEATEN!" They shout and plead,
There's just too much against you now, this time you can't succeed. And as I start to hang my head in front of failure's face,
My downward fall is broken by the memory of a race.

And hope refills my weakened will as I recall that scene.
For just the thought of that short race rejuvenates my being.
A children's race, young boys, young men; now I remember well.
Excitement, sure, but also fear; it wasn...
