My day was supposed to be two great races with a half-marathon in the morning and a 5k for dinner. It was scheduled for me to be out of work by 10:30 PM (Friday night), so I could get some rest for my big day. Just didn't work out. Midnight hit and I'm still working hard, and my Friday was almost 20,000 steps. Finally get home, get my stuff ready, and crawl into bed.

2 AM. Sleep 3.5 hours. Time to travel... Sun, 19 Oct 2014 00:34:36 EST Meet my therapist, Mr. Salomon http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5797729 In light of all my family difficulties- daughter into crisis again, son's ADHD medicine having another cascade failure, and my wife (not going into this). This could not be farther from the truth. I could have 1000 drinking buddies, but conversations are almost all limited to 2 minutes or less. When everyone is out with friends, or home with their families, I'm am work again. Then off exercising by myself.

Then along comes someone like Julia. Fri, 23 Aug 2013 00:29:32 EST Marathon Training #4 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5462522 This is the current status of my 2013 running program-

Don't really feel like going into it, but I have too. On August 3rd I ran another 5k, and did well. Was in the middle of a work cycle so I took the race easy. Went home and did my ice. compression, salt bath, rest, then off to work. I do all this stuff after every race to recover faster and to help ward off future injuries.

Work real... Wed, 21 Aug 2013 22:53:00 EST Marathon Training #3 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5453491 This one isn't as happy as the last one. Had a local 5k run on Aug 3rd. Did well with a time of 22:44, and this had hills, gravel, dirt, mud, water, a back yard fire, postal worker, dog, and a boat launch. So, it was interesting and fun.

Then work hit. We were understaffed, one employee skipped her shift, and a new person was on. Needless to say, work was overwhelming (AGAIN). Then I had to come back and work full shifts Sunday and Monday under rough conditions. Guess wha... Tue, 13 Aug 2013 00:23:31 EST Food problems and my August goals. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5440253 This is very simple.

STOP EATING BAD FOODS.

Food is the only thing that will fuel my overtraining. Offer the building blocks for body repair. Bring me that flat, non-bloated look.

Everything else will take care of itself.

Konrad Wed, 31 Jul 2013 20:58:07 EST Marathon Training #2 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5439224 All is well and on target.

Had some time off this weekend, so I ran, A LOT.

My running is planed like this. Long runs will be broken it 25-30 minute blocks. Trying to build body durability, but using breaks to prevent injury. Short road races will be used as speed work. Long road races will be used for mental toughness.

186 HAD A GREAT RUNNING WEEKEND 186

Worked Friday day and relaxed at night. Got up early to register... Tue, 30 Jul 2013 23:41:40 EST Marathon Training. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5434769 So this is my first official marathon blog.

The marathons I will be running will be the Detroit on Oct 20th and Indy Monumental Marathon (IMM) Nov 2nd.

The Detroit will be to fill my goal of running a marathon. I will need an enhanced ID so I can run across the bridge into Canada and back. Only goals are to finish, have fun, take pics, and remember.

The IMM will be for completely different reasons. This one will be for charity. I have signed up to be S... Fri, 26 Jul 2013 23:04:48 EST And my body said ... YES... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5431182 No- not to that you goofball, I'm talking about running!!

Most people know that I would like to run a marathon. I'm signed up for two, Detroit on Oct 20th and Indy Monumental Nov 2nd (see next blog). Right now is the training to make my joint/tendons/ligaments tough enough to last 26.2 miles. It has been a rough road. Finding the right high mileage shoes, getting ride of old pains, and preventing new ones.

Today- my body finally said yes. It was supposed to be a ... Tue, 23 Jul 2013 23:21:57 EST 48 hours off and a race http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5424123 I have my usual 2 days off right now (Tuesday, Wednesday). This time there is no rest. My wife has another week off of work, and that means family activities. So no rest for the already exhausted. It's family time, so I get it, and I'll do it.

I did manage to change oil, clean and gas car, do my laundry, pack, pack up dogs, take son to Dr. Appointment, drive 90 minutes north, make two stops, walk hard for 35 minutes, do a core beach workout, fix cabin air conditioning, eat ... Wed, 17 Jul 2013 11:28:25 EST better save the women and children first http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5419914 Why do you need so save the women and children.....you ask?

Well, it's tall ships weekend in BC and that means pirates. Not a lot of pirates, but just enough. Actually the town is crawling with people, way too many people. My work this weekend will consist of 80 hours of work squeezed into 50 hours of time squeezed into 4 days. On top of that- I'm running the Pirates on the Run 5k tomorrow morning at 8 AM. This will be more of a jog. Racing it doesn't fit my long term goals o... Sat, 13 Jul 2013 14:40:42 EST A wonderful Idea!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5416151 Some of you know a marathon is a long term goal of mine. It was supposed to be last year. Then it was "Absolutely" going to be this spring. Well none of that happened. Between foot tendons, splitting my tibia apart, and my heart not beating when it feels like it- everything keeps getting pushed back.

Three weeks ago I made a decision. I'm running the Detroit Marathon. Whatever condition I'm in or whatever it takes. Right know it is taking ice twice a day, Motrin, weekly m... Wed, 10 Jul 2013 00:05:21 EST
