KNOX50US's SparkPeople Blog KNOX50US's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community Let the New Year begin already! This morning I found new resolve. I actually grabbed my water bottle and headed downstairs to the treadmill, then did weights and stretched. Now I have gained back 20 of the 40 pounds, so more attention to sparkpeople pages and logging everything I eat. When I followed their plan, I lost 40 pounds in about 4 months. So that's where I begin today. Today is my last day of unmeasurable dishes!

I was blessed to have my daughter, Janet and her 3 beautiful children with me at Chri... Sun, 30 Dec 2012 17:07:47 EST Slipping Backwards I have lost 40 pounds (lost 50) but have gained 10 back. I can blame the grandkids visiting, I can blame it on no time. Or I hate to admit it but I can blame myself for not taking the time, the kids didn't get up till 9 or 10 - due to them being teenagers and such - I was lacking in motivation and desire - I have plateaued and I don't like it. So instead of muddling through and finding new motivation - upping the exercise and strength training - I stopped everything - I slid back into old ... Wed, 22 Aug 2012 11:21:42 EST Onward! After tasting all the delicious foods of Italy for 3 weeks - gelato (every day), pizza almost every day, lasagna, pasta with sauce, with pesto, with olive oil, bread, oh lets not forget the croissants with chocolate - several times a week - mixed in with a few good salads and fruits - I managed to lose .2 pounds. Of course, walking a gazillion miles a day may have deterred any weight gain.

But like all things, my vacation was over and homeward bound I came. My friend came up from... Thu, 13 Oct 2011 19:15:06 EST Go Go Gadget! Today I seemed to be going the wrong way on the scale - it could not possibly be the melted brie cheese and Ritz crackers or maybe the sausage wrapped in phyllo dough, or the couple of bites of homemade apple pie and cupcakes I devoured yesterday! What am I doing as I lick my lips after each bite - savoring the taste of pure fat - thinking the whole time- this is what gets everyone in trouble. Saboteurs lurking everywhere you look - everywhere you go - the only safe place is my own kitchen... Sun, 15 May 2011 12:33:30 EST Cigarettes - bye bye The addiction of nicotine knows no boundaries so they (experts) say. Well, today I just set my boundary - no more will I put a bunch of dead leaves in my mouth and light them on fire.

I came home from the track yesterday after 3 miles and lit a damn cigarette - my husband could not believe I could be so stupid! Okay, stupid is as stupid does and I am an idiot. I have smoked off and on since I was about 17, take off for 3 or 4 years here and there - pregnancies (2) and then a... Fri, 6 May 2011 17:45:43 EST Diligence vs Indulgence The smell of freshly baked apple pie is an alarming smell all by itself - but then bring out the chocolate ice cream - Jiminy Cricket - how much will power should one have to have.

Friends invited us over for the first barbeque of Spring and a fire pit - hamburgers, beans, chips, cole slaw - the usual. No problem - I had a small burger (93% lean) with Swiss cheese and a bun, a few tablespoons of cole slaw - first time I have not weighed or measured out my portion - but by now - ... Tue, 3 May 2011 06:58:05 EST Easter Sunday: How Blessed Am I? How blessed am I?

10 things I am grateful for this Easter Sunday

1. Love of a wonderful man.
2. Sun, 24 Apr 2011 20:37:44 EST Sunday Bliss A year ago I would have been frantically planning and getting ready for the work week. It feels good to know that the days are mine to plan, play and get healthy.

I am so proud of myself for going to a friend's house to meet up with the Ciao Babies (our group 0f 6 high school friends) to plan our trip to Italy this October. I managed to contain my consumption of food which was difficult when it came to the Sweet Potato Fries and the lemon cake - dilemma - I can taste one - but ... Sun, 10 Apr 2011 20:14:30 EST Tea Time Sipping tea, listening to the ticking of clock, refrigerator running, and the cats lazily sleeping in the late afternoon sun, I enoy the tranquility of this day. Rarely am I alone able to be with only my own thoughts. But today is the day!

The golden afternoon rays flicker through the unadorned trees. They stand tall and proud just waiting for Spring to dress them again. I love watching the squirre... Fri, 8 Apr 2011 18:56:06 EST Waiting for Spring In Maine the snow is slow to go, I blame my sluggish mood on the foot of snow still taking up space on my lawn. The sun is shining, the sky is blue - as soon as this blog is done - I am off for a 3 mile walk.

I keep telling myself (kind of my mantra), "I will take control, I will do this for me."

It seems my whole life it has been about others, now I am going to be a little bit selfish and take back my life for me. I have been someone's daughter, sister, friend, w... Thu, 7 Apr 2011 14:27:35 EST Foggy day The day is overcast with the sun trying to peek through. The scale showed another pound gone - eating healthy and moving is paying off - sticking to it is another story - motorcycle season will soon be here and the road is not kind to those trying to eat healthy.

I will be sure to try to keep to clean eating and expending the energy to walk. It is a life time change not a diet - I have to keep telling myself this every day.

Everywhere you go temptation is lurking r... Tue, 5 Apr 2011 11:41:59 EST Monday, Monday My day has started out great - got on the scales and found I broke the 200 mark. Only 50 or so more to go.

I have started and stopped so many diets, lost and gained the same 20 pounds a dozen times over in the last 25 years. I could blame it on my husband - I never had a weight problem till I married him - it's all that good home cooking and lack of movement - which I could also blame on him as long as I am playing the blame game. His bum knee has stopped us from enjoying alot... Mon, 4 Apr 2011 08:21:24 EST
