KNOVICK421's SparkPeople Blog KNOVICK421's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community Where does the time go? I can't believe my oldest daughter will be 6 next week! It seems like yesterday that I was suffering through endless fertility treatments. She was born while my husband was deployed, so I was all alone with her while being thousands of miles from my family. My husband, Tom, came home for 18 days of leave when she was 2 weeks old, and didn't see her again until she was 6 1/2 months old. I found out I was pregnant 2 days after he I went through the pregnancy, birth, and first ... Wed, 23 Jul 2014 22:45:33 EST Go me! I haven't disappeared...just been busy.

Still doing the gym thing. I'm up to 1.5 miles in about 15:40. My goal is to get to 2 miles in 20. I can do it.

I've hit some milestones that were big for me (besides the running):

1. Squatted 100 pounds on the Smith machine
2. Curled 20 pound dumbbells for the first time tonight
3. Doing plyo squats without looking like a complete dumbass (I'm highly uncoordinated)

I found this squat workout... Mon, 14 Jul 2014 23:35:51 EST Oh yeah! Beat my time. 9:48 mile. Wanna get it down a little more and start going longer and longer...then cut more time. 6 weeks ago, I couldn't run a 15 minute mile. That's a hell of an improvement. I'm pretty proud.

363 Wed, 2 Jul 2014 22:08:38 EST 10 pounds down! Down 10 pounds--officially. 224 Also, I finally got my 1 mile run down to 10 minutes. I've never been a good runner, so that's a HUGE accomplishment for me. Yesterday, I warmed up with the mile run, then did legs. Lunges...squats...leg presses...lunges...more lunges...I HATE lunges. My legs hate me today. It hurts to walk and stand and sit. LOL Oh well, it'll pass in a day or two.

I had another job interview that I thought went really well. The owner said he lik... Mon, 30 Jun 2014 22:22:12 EST 2 steps forward and 1 step back=still moving forward, right? I seem to get stuck. Lose 3 pounds. Stick there for 2 weeks. Lose 4 more. Stick there for a week. I'm down almost 10 pounds. Getting stronger. Getting more toned. I've been putting off doing leg workouts because I hate them so much. Squats=hell. BUT, I'm going to do legs (BUTT) tonight anyway.

That's about all that's going on. Not very exciting. :) Wed, 25 Jun 2014 16:32:48 EST Good Lord, it's hot I think I got way too used to cooler temperatures in WA. The heat and humidity of NC is killing me. It drains me of all energy and motivation. Bring on the fall!

I'm so glad it's the weekend. I could use some sleep! Fri, 20 Jun 2014 16:55:34 EST Yoga I'm one of the least coordinated and flexible people I know. Always have been. It definitely makes yoga more of a struggle. The P90X yoga is no joke. I feel like I got punched in my obliques. I'm going to try to do it once a week to help with my flexibility. And it saves me a night at the gym. Wed, 18 Jun 2014 10:38:55 EST A little break The past couple weeks have been a struggle with getting to the gym. I've definitely slacked and only gone 3 times a week. Between sick kids and helping my husband learn Mandarin, I've been too tired to go. And the fact that I'm getting bored with the same old weight lifting routine doesn't help. Tonight, I'm doing the P90X Yoga X. 90 minutes of suck...but let's be honest, I'll probably only make it through about an hour before the moves get way too hard. After all, I'm not Gumby!
... Mon, 16 Jun 2014 16:30:01 EST Rough weeks The past 2 weeks have been rough. Both kids have been sick. My youngest got a cold which ended up in an ear infection. Then, my oldest got a stomach bug that, thankfully, lasted only 24 hours. 2 days later, my youngest had the bug. To top it off, I got the cold. All that took a toll on my working out, but I managed to be pretty good with the food.

I made the mistake one night of eating half a steak, some roasted potatoes, and then a chocolate cupcake. It was the largest me... Thu, 12 Jun 2014 22:38:33 EST It's official...I won't be able to lift my arms tomorrow Today's workout

PROGRAM 5
Endurance Arms-Weighted Guts REP. Wed, 28 May 2014 22:17:00 EST A little break I don't know if I came down with something or what. I was like a zombie for a day or 2...then Thursday night, I was shivering like it was 40 degrees in the house. By Friday morning, I felt ok. Had family come in from NYC, so didn't go to the gym until tonight. I was actually dreading going, but it felt really good afterwords. My workout tonight was:

Endurance Chest-Back-Shoulders REP. RANGE
warm-up jog 1/2 mile
push-pull 3 minutes
SS-cable flyes/push-ups 12-15/30... Tue, 27 May 2014 23:12:10 EST Exhausted My day consists of:

5:15am--get up and shower
6:00am--get kids up and get them ready for school, while finishing getting myself ready.
7:00--out the door
8:00-5:00pm--work
5:35--pick up kids from daycare
6:00pm--cook dinner
6:45pm--eat
7:45--put kids to bed
8:15-9:45--gym

By the time I get to bed, after a glass of chocolate milk (great recovery drink) and relaxing for half an hour, it's 11pm or later. That leaves me with 5-6 hours... Thu, 22 May 2014 15:29:49 EST Sigh Eating right and exercising 4-5 times a week. In almost 3 weeks, 4 pounds. Not a great start in my eyes. My husband says he can tell, and luckily, he's not one to beat around the bush. I do think, however, that he thinks I should push myself more in the gym. He's an Army PT stud...knocking out 5 miles in 36 minutes or rucking 12 miles with 50 lbs in 2 hours and 24 minutes. I think he forgets that normal people aren't as ridiculously fit as he is.

Just gotta keep plugging a lo... Wed, 21 May 2014 08:21:53 EST Still going I still don't "enjoy" working out; however, I know it must be done--for weight loss, for health, and for my general well-being.

I have a lot of stress in my life right now, and this is really the only way I have to blow off steam. Between work, 2 small kids, and a husband who is essentially unavailable due to his career, I'm like a ticking time bomb. Sometimes I wonder if I'm depressed. No scratch that, I know I am. I'm unhappy with my career, unhappy with my body, and just t... Tue, 13 May 2014 22:16:01 EST So sore I joined a gym. It's right around the corner from my house. Of course, the only time I have available to go is after my kids go to bed at 8pm. I've been doing the "Ranger" workout. It's for soldiers who are preparing for Ranger school. Lots of focus on strength and endurance. My warm up is anywhere from a half mile to mile...then weights...then cardio. My chest muscles are sore. My legs are sore. But hey, no pain no gain.

My goal is to once again wear a bathing suit with... Mon, 5 May 2014 08:26:07 EST Still going strong.... It's been about 2 weeks of working out. I was able to do all my lunges...of course, I almost fell over. 4 laps of the cardio room equals about 80 lunges. Whew! I've been doing really well, though, if I do say so myself. I got on the scale. It said 126.6 and take away 3 pounds for clothes and shoes...that means 123.6! When I had my first assessment with Brianne, the scale said 129.5. That means 3 pounds less! Woot! Gotta keep at it. I'm really liking the 5-6 meals...I don't get near... Wed, 29 Jul 2009 15:21:24 EST So far, so good I had my first workout with Brianne on Friday. She kicked my butt. First, we discovered how truly unbalance and uncoordinated I am on the bosu ball. Then, she made me do forward lunges until I fell over. That didn't take long--about 4 laps of the cardio room at the gym. I got nauseous and had to drink some orange juice. Apparently, to begin with, your body tries to burn the insulin stores instead of burning fat, so you have to keep your blood sugar up. Good to know.

Monday, ... Wed, 22 Jul 2009 11:13:10 EST Where did the last 2 years go? It's been a very productive 2 years for me...except in terms of weight loss. I finally got pregnant and had a beautiful baby girl. Payton was born on August 1, 2008. Tom made it through a 15 month deployment in one piece. We've moved from Hawaii to Fort Lewis, WA. BUSY!

I'm not any heavier than I was before I got pregnant, and I'm thankful for that. However, I've had a severe lack of motivation. Tom and I joined a gym near our house.

Yesterday, I had an assessme... Thu, 16 Jul 2009 13:17:12 EST Been a while I know I'm supposed to post at least once a week, but I've been slacking. Not a whole lot going on here. I'm not losing any weight. I'm not gaining any weight. I guess I can't complain too much. I'm still waiting to find out if I'm pregnant. I haven't been sleeping well lately, and I think a lot of that is my lack of exercise recently. Starting Monday, March 5th, it's back to the gym. Hardcore. I need to get back on the elliptical and start doing some strength training, too. I'm rea... Thu, 1 Mar 2007 13:38:34 EST Ugh The past two weeks sucked. First, I was sick. That's never fun. Then I got 2 cases of really bad news. A very good friend of the family died at the age of 49. This man was one of the nicest people I ever knew and I loved him to death. Another friend of mine was involved in an accident on New Years. She was taken off life support on January 2. She was only 23 and left behind a 3 year old beautiful daughter.

We're still waiting to find out what the Army is doing. As far as... Thu, 11 Jan 2007 13:29:21 EST The Holidays are over! Thank God it's 2007! No Thanksgiving or Christmas or New Years to think about for 11 months. Now, I can get back on my regular schedule of working, working out, and eating properly.

There are things here and there that become a distraction. For example, one of my husband's soldiers is coming to the house every night to study for his board. It's not an option...he gets to learn and best of all, he gets to eat my cooking. He's pretty lucky there, because if I say so myself, I'... Wed, 3 Jan 2007 19:40:57 EST The Christmas parties are over! Thankfully, I have no more Christmas parties to go to for work. Thank God. Being in Hawaii, everyone serves Chinese food, which tends to be either fried or leaking oil from every pore. I can't wait to go home and make some dinner.

I'm ready to get back on the Eliptical machine, too. I've been coming home from the parties and doing at least an ab workout. If the gym is closed or if I'm feeling way too sluggish to go, I practice a toned down version of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu with... Thu, 14 Dec 2006 12:33:28 EST
