KJDINSC's SparkPeople Blog http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal.asp?id=KJDINSC KJDINSC's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community SparkPeople.com http://assets2.sparkpeople.com/assets/nav/logo_spark.gif http://www.sparkpeople.com/ Is it possible? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5674899 I have always dreaded exercise. One of my goals has been to learn to enjoy it.

When I was in the Army, I ran because I had to. When I retired from the Army, I quit running, partly due to some orthopedic problems, but mostly because I hated it. I figured I'd find something else to do for exercise. But as time went by, I tried several things, but never really found anything I enjoyed.

But, dare I say it? I think I've finally found it! I've been going to a water aer... Fri, 18 Apr 2014 08:34:00 EST Lenten Self-Denial http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5639393 I have made the decision to give up COOKIES for Lent. Sounds silly, I know... but Lent is about self-denial, repentance, and reflection. It doesn't make sense for me to give up something meaningless to me like gum, candy, or alcohol. None of them have a hold on me. Cookies are truly my weakness.

Currently there are three unopened boxes of Girl Scout cookies in the pantry. Luckily, one is a box of Samoas, the only cookie I don't like, so no problem there. Unfortunately the ot... Tue, 4 Mar 2014 10:24:16 EST Attempting to Climb Back on the Wagon http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5459697 Well, I am ashamed to admit it, but I fell off the wagon (and away from SparkPeople) and regained nine pounds, adding yet another episode of weight loss/regain to my long history of the same. I'm trying to stay positive, but today the blues are knocking hard at my door. It's been raining for four days, and that isn't helping.

I started the day off with a light breakfast and a low-impact cardio video workout. Today I will do better than I did yesterday, and hopefully tomorrow wil... Mon, 19 Aug 2013 09:43:34 EST Armed Forces Day 5K http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5337174 I signed myself up for the Armed Forces Day 5K on May 18th. I figure that since I survived the Shamrock Shuffle 5K in March, I should probably do another one, just to prove to myself that it wasn't a fluke! My hubby agreed to to it with me. There will be lots of people: active duty military, retired military like me & my husband (it's a mixed-marriage: I'm retired Army and he's retired Air Force), family members and supporters.

Who knows? Maybe I'll even do it a little fast... Sat, 27 Apr 2013 10:03:55 EST Holiday Recap and Looking Forward http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5183233 Happy New Year, SparkFriends! The holidays are over now and 2013 is upon us. We celebrated the holidays with family this year, which was wonderful. My son is in the Air Force and he was able to take six days of leave and come to SC from his base in TX. It was great having him home. Also, my mom & step-dad came to visit from PA. (That was tough, since they are big-time snackers and food-pushers.) Everyone has gone back home now and it's just me & the hubby, so I can get back in my rout... Tue, 1 Jan 2013 07:21:49 EST Saturday Morning http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5130473 I had plans to go bicycling, but decided to do a full "regular" workout... stretching, elliptical, and treadmill. I am not normally much of a movie-watcher, but my sister recommended a movie and I promised her I'd watch it. So I watched it during my workout and surprise, I got so distracted by the movie that I was able to go longer on both the elliptical and the treadmill! And I was able to increase my speed by .5 mph! Maybe distraction is what I need to keep my mind off the negative thou... Sat, 10 Nov 2012 11:21:26 EST Weekend Plans http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5129680 Saturdays are my best days for fitness because there are fewer time constraints and stressors. I tell myself I hate working out... but actually, I do like to ride my bicycle. I just don't do it during the week because it's dark when I get home. But Saturday is another story: tomorrow I plan to go for a long bike ride while my hubby is playing golf. Who knows? Maybe I'll do the same thing on Sunday and Monday!

Happy Veterans' Day to all of our nations' veterans.

F... Fri, 9 Nov 2012 14:56:42 EST
