Mon, 31 Dec 2012 11:33:53 EST My 2013 New Year's Resolution The year 2013 is peeking around the corner. However, this year feels different for me. This is the year that I feel like I am actually going to reach and even surpass my goals.

Why is this year different? I asked myself that as well. How can I make this year different than all the other years? For years I created New Year’s resolutions. Also though, for years I broke every resolution within the first couple of weeks. Thu, 25 Oct 2012 20:25:11 EST Feeling a bit frustrated Today was my weigh in day. I had hoped to lose weight again. Last week was the first week in a long time that I had lost weight.

So I step on the scale and **BAM** an almost 2 pound weight gain. grrrrrr

It typically is very hard for me to lose weight. Always has been. I have to work VERY hard for every little ounce.

This past week I did miss a few days of exercising due to a hectic back to school and scouting week.

Once thing I have noticed ... Sun, 9 Sep 2012 11:50:24 EST 1/3 of the way through the ZWOW 1-30 Challenge update I am excited to say that I have actually stuck with these video each day. There were day I was dragging my wagon and would have loved to just sit on the couch, but I set my determination meter to extreme and completed the workout.

I am now at the point where I really miss doing them on my 2 off days. I feel myself getting stronger and more able to complete the workouts without sucking wind like a fish out of water. Yeah!!! I am also not so painfully sore. I am sore enough to k... Mon, 3 Sep 2012 11:45:07 EST ZWOW Day 3 Today was a pretty good day. I ate pretty well until dinner. But was on the go from the moment I got off work until 10 o'clock when I got home. My daughter's part 1 birthday party was tonight. I did really well and only had a time scoop of ice cream and a smidgen of cake.

Today I completed ZWOW #3. I appear to be improving as I do not need to modify nearly as much as I did when I first started. Today I actually did 5 of the Superman Push up on my toes. Yeah. The rest I did... Thu, 23 Aug 2012 01:27:40 EST Day 2 of the ZWOW 1-30 Challenge Ouch!!!!!

I completed ZWOW #2. I am now wondering what I got myself into for the next 28 videos. Who would have thought that working out for 15 min would cause me to sweat soooooo much.

I had a really hard time with this video. Mostly because I have to modify so much. Being challenged with a few medical conditions really limits my abilities. So because of them, my movements are limited. Really sucks. But that is ok. I am hoping that by losing weight and getting stronge... Wed, 22 Aug 2012 00:34:17 EST Day 1 of the ZWOW 1-30 challenge Well today is day one of the ZWOW 1-30 challenge. I completed ZWOW #1 in 17min 48 sec. This was one crazy workout. But I made it all 3 rounds. I did have to modify the exercises as I am not yet able to do full on push up and I can't do the pistol squats at all.

I also did 30 min on the rowing machine and 30 min on the stationary bike.

I am going to be sore tomorrow. But I will be ready for ZWOW #2. Tue, 21 Aug 2012 01:29:20 EST Gov't and food industry rant As I was opening up a new box of organic whole grain cereal for breakfast this morning, I notice the lack of product in my box. Noting that the box is already fairly small. Actually, at the time I purchased the cereal, I new the box was smaller than the mainstream sugar cereals in the grocery isle. Knowing this and knowing I was paying a lot more for my small box, I purchased it. I recently made the decision that my health was more important than the small saving for the cheaper less healt... Thu, 16 Aug 2012 11:29:34 EST Feeling sore and loving it. Ok, I have completed 2 days worth of exercising. Now to many that does not sound like much to toot the horn about. But it is huge. I have a great tendency to talk myself out of exercising. There is ALWAYS something that needs to be done. This includes watching tv shows, reading a book, cleaning the house, the kids taking over the living room... see how many excuses I have for not exercising.

So despite the 105+ temps, I got off my couch (hahah.. thougth I was going to say butt... Mon, 13 Aug 2012 15:18:51 EST Jumping in with both feet first Well, I have not been very consistent with my exercising. Went through a pretty wicked couple of years. But things are now finally starting to calm down.

Now I can start focusing on myself a bit more or at least be able to devote a little bit of time to myself.

While I was cruising the web and Youtube, I stumbled upon some very exciting workout videos. It is the BodyRock and Zuzana Light sites. Thanks to these sites, I am once again excited about exercising.
... Sat, 11 Aug 2012 21:22:38 EST Talk about being forced to stay on program... Well, after years of trying to complete a program or at least stay on program for more than a couple of weeks, I have been placed in a position that will guarantee that I stay on program.

My work has created an Employee Wellness Program. They provide one-on-one meetings with the dieticians, food tastings,. healthy food alternatives and daily exercise breaks.

I have been given the responsibility of leading a low impact exercise program at work during lunch time. W... Tue, 22 Nov 2011 23:57:04 EST January 2011 Well, here it is 2011. I am once again trying to make this the year that I lose weight and get healthy. However, this year feels very different from years past. So many changes have taken place over the past 6=7 months. But looking back it has all been worth it.

Even though I am in the middle of a divorce and have moved to a new apartment, I would not change a thing. I feel happier now then I have in over 8 years.

Today while I was walking on the treadmill (one be... Sat, 29 Jan 2011 23:23:11 EST My journey through the Biggest Loser Wii four week Program (week 2) I am back and ready for week two. I am loving this so far.

My 7 y.o. son has started doing the challenges with me. I created him a profile and we load both profiles at the same time so that we can compete against each other. It is really fun.

Ok... Sun, 11 Apr 2010 18:00:30 EST My Journey through the Biggest Loser Wii Four Week Program (Week 1) Last sunday I started the four week program using the Biggest Loser for the Wii "game". I don't know if I should call this a game. I don't remembera game being so brutal.

I am signed up for the beginner (new to exercise) four week program. My plan is to work my way up to a 12 week program and Challenging level. hahahahah

Day 1 (Sunday) - I log in. At this point I am all excited and ready to go. Mind you this is only a 12 minute (I think) workout. After a few minu... Thu, 8 Apr 2010 15:25:35 EST I am fellin' the ache This is a really good thing. I have been really sedentary for the past several months. Well, we finally save up enough money to purchase a Wii. What a blessing this little device has been. Not only has it got us moving more, but it has brought family time back to our house.

Prior to getting this, each kid pretty much isolated themselves in their rooms doing their own thing. I sat around, reading, watching tv, doing chores, etc.

Now, we all hurry to get our chores... Sun, 14 Mar 2010 01:59:52 EST January 1, 2010...Happy New Year!!!!! Last year was a very tough year. I found myself gaining back all of the weight that I had lost earlier in the year.

I have found myself doing a lot of reflecting this past week. Kind of a lessons learned for 2009. I find that I have learned a LOT of lessons over the year. From dealing with debt, loss of finances, loss of health and weight gain.

What I have learned is that I survived 2009 and am ready to face 2010 stronger and more determined. I have learned that I... Fri, 1 Jan 2010 11:33:16 EST A new 12 week challenge and a renewal of committment I am starting a new 12 week challenge. I am calling it "Renewed Committment". Life has a way of throwing curve balls at you. How or whether you swing at them is up to you. The past several months (years) I have had some nasty curve balls thrown at me. For the most part I have been just standing there waiting for the perfect pitch. But as we all know, there is no "Perfect" pitch in the game of life.

Just recently I realized that nothing will get resolved if I continue to do n... Sun, 28 Jun 2009 13:55:31 EST Wanted: Fun, Energetic and Results driven DVD for my fibromyaliga I am just getting back to exercising this week due to issues surrounding my fibro and lots of body pain. When using some of my exercise videos, I would end up with shoulder pain, foot pain, ankle pain, you name it pain. Well, after meeting with my podiatrist a month or so ago, he reminded me that for people with fibro, too much exercise is almost as bad as no exercise. And, peopel with fibro obtain injuries much easier than people without fibro, and it takes 3 times a long to heal. So he... Fri, 26 Jun 2009 23:17:34 EST Tweaks and changes along the route The one thing I noticed during my journey to health and wellness is that there is no single perfect fix. One way may work for someone, but not me and vice versa. I have also learned that there is no end to learning.

I have learned that you have to constantly challenge your thinking and plan of action. To keep pushing what I think I know and acknowleging the fact that I don't know everything.

So with this in mind... I am once again tweaking my plan.

When I f... Mon, 18 May 2009 00:36:43 EST Schedule for Week 1 of the 18 Week self challenge Last week was a mild week for me. I didn't get any video exercises done. The only exercises I have done this week is my stationary bike.

Since we are at the beginning of a new month, I figure it is time to meaure myself to see if there is any progress. Good news, although small, I have lost some inches. Mostly on my hips... yippee!!!

Tomorrow starts Week 1 of my 18 week challenge.

My plan is to alternate different types of exercises each week.

Th... Sun, 3 May 2009 00:35:32 EST Its all about finding the balance As always life is full of trying to balance. Life does that beautifully for me without my helping it. Have you ever noticed how when something good comes along (lets say a tax return) there is always something that occurs shortly after to take it away (lets say the car's engine goes out).

Well this pretty much my entire life in a nut shell.

This week has been a week of ups and downs.

Major exciting news! I am still walking/riding the Transcontinental tr... I am also noticing that I am able to complete the cardio at the advanced level. Instead of toe tap, I am able to due the full on kick. woohoo.

Unfortunately, I am having pain in my ... Mon, 20 Apr 2009 13:59:33 EST My defining moment Ever had one of those days where you swear that the forces of the world are working against you?

Today was one of those days. We spent the weekend with my in-laws, had a great time and even did really well with making healthy food choices. If you read other entries of mine, you know that this was a challenge.

We ended up getting home much later than anticipated so I wasn't able to get my exercise video done. I didn't feel comfortable working out at my in-laws so I had... Sun, 19 Apr 2009 23:38:33 EST Sometimes hubbies can be sooooo cute! For Easter, my parents gave us a box of See's candies. For a couple of days, I kept snacking on the chocolates.

I had chosen as a reward for finally breaking the 200lb barrier and IPOD Nano. Well, I have been exercising for weeks and weeks and not losing any weight. I was starting to get discourage that I would never get my IPOD.

Well, when my hubby saw that I was snacking on the candies, he went out and purchased the IPOD for me (where he got the money I have no clu... Sun, 19 Apr 2009 23:27:12 EST Week 2 Biggest Loser 6 week video challenge summary Well my friends,

This is the end of week 2. I managed to complete all six days of the videos and exercised each night on my stationary bike for a minimum of 60 min.

I am feeling a bit stronger with the videos, which is always a good thing. Unfortunately I am still battling my feet and having to modify the exercises to accomodate that. This is frustrating. I feel like my feet are holding back my progress some. But I am still feeling every move in these videos so they... Sun, 12 Apr 2009 13:07:10 EST No success yet... I was so good this week. I completed all six days of my exercise plan which included a Biggest loser exercise video and 60 min on my stationary bike each day.

I at really well this week. It is going really well. I have been more committed to this program than any other previous attempt at an exercise plan.

Each day is easier and stronger than the last, however, I get so frustrated because my feet keep holding me back. I have to modify some of the exercises greatly because of my feet. Even though that I know that if it were not for my feet, I would be able to do the exercises (with some gr... Sat, 4 Apr 2009 22:11:18 EST My weightloss plan of attack Well, now that I am back on the bike and ready to go... Thu, 26 Mar 2009 23:28:37 EST I DID IT!!!!!!! I finally broke my exercise dry spell. I hopped on my exercise bike and rode...rode...rode.

I owe this to my friend, co-worker and Sparkbuddy Viesha.

We have decided that for every day that we miss a workout, we have to pay 50 cents to the "kitty". On August 31st, who ever has accumulated the most exercise minutes gets to keep the money in the "kitty"

Well, since I don't have ANY money thanks to the economy, a job loss and a salary reduction, I have no mone... Wed, 18 Mar 2009 00:16:15 EST I lost my mojo I was doing so well. I had been working out everyday, sometimes twice a day. Eating within my calories and feeling pretty good. Then I get on the scale only to find out I gained one pound. How is that possible?

Then to add insult to injury, I go to my in-laws for the weekend and as I noted in a previous post, that is my undoing. It breaks my exercise rhythm and good food choices.

Well it has been two weeks since the last time I have exercised. Food is not even ... Fri, 13 Mar 2009 00:18:06 EST aarrggh...weekends! The weekends are the hardest for me. I can go the entire week doing REALLY well. Exercising every day, watching the foods that I eat. Then here comes the weekend. I wake on saturday morning with the best of intentions and strong determination that I am going to fall of the bandwagon. Then bang, in just minutes everything falls with a bang. Either my in-laws come over or we go to their house. When this happens, all is lost. There is no way to exercise and sticking to my food plan, forge... Sun, 1 Mar 2009 22:37:55 EST Things that make you go hmmm...My monday epiphany This Valentine weekend was not the best for my new eating style. It was a new exercise video and equipment by the Firm called the Wave. It looked like it would be so much fun. I want one now!

My daughter tried to talk me into getting it as well. She said she would even do the exercises.

Unfortunately my bank account won't allow me to purchase it right now. I survived day 2 of 30 Day Shred I am sooooo excited. I did day 2 level 1 of 30 day Shred yesterday. It was really fun because my 13 year old daughter did the video with me.
The great thing about it is that I was able to do the entire video without feeling like I was gonna be sick. After just one day. Hopefully this is an indication of my progress with the video. Even better is that I am not nearly as sore as I was after the first video.

This morning my daughter and I made the best muffins. When... Sun, 15 Feb 2009 14:07:23 EST OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Day 1 - Level 1 of the 30 Day Shred Holy c#$p, this is one seriously painful workout. It kicked my butt.

My arms, legs ah heck my entire body is shaking. And this is 30 min. after finishing the video.

I actually received the video on tuesday, but kept talking myself out of doing it. Truth be told, I was afraid to do it. Thu, 12 Feb 2009 16:17:08 EST Sabotage Part of gaining an inner perspective of myself and my weightloss/gain history includes understanding what causes me to fall off the ol bandwagon.

What kind of eater am I. I can honestly say that I am an emotional eater. Well, according to Jillian, the best way to lose weight is to find out what my body requirements are and how my body metabolizes food.

My Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) is 1703
My Active Metabolic Rate (AMR) is 2200 (this number takes into account my 30 minutes of bicycle riding and a fairly sedentary work life)

My weekly calorie needs (My AMR multiplied by 7) are 15400 just to maintain my current weight.

To lose one pound of fat I need to have a calorie defi... Sun, 8 Feb 2009 01:33:32 EST Banishing Negative Self-talk In my previous post, I indicated that I have started reading Jillian Michael's Winning By Losing book.

A couple of chapters into the book and I have to say I am really liking it. Although a lot of what she is saying, I have already heard in the zillions of other weight loss books/programs that I have read or attempted. However, for some reason, the way Jillian is presenting it really hits home for me. It is giving me that "hhmmm" moment. Where I am truly stopping and thinking... Sat, 7 Feb 2009 20:34:22 EST
