KIMBERLY19732's SparkPeople Blog KIMBERLY19732's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community September 25th, 2015...It's been awhile I have not been very faithful to Sparkpeople, or my efforts to take care of myself! We've just returned from a wonderful trip to Scotland. It was so beautiful, yet I don't have one photo of myself where I LIKE how I look.In fact I just kept thinking how they looked like great "BEFORE" shots! This month my son also announced his wedding date---June 2016. So I have 9 months from today to make some progress. This week I also had my blood work done, soon we will see how my A1C, and all of that is... Sat, 26 Sep 2015 00:48:10 EST Update on Small Changes Challenges Yesterdays Challenge, to turn off all electronics and just sit down to eat (you know, like people used to do ALL the time). Well, that was REALLY hard. And I practically FORGOT I was even doing the challenge by the 2nd meal. I'm going to keep trying again today... Tue, 13 Jan 2015 13:31:15 EST Small Changes Challenge Todays Task for the Challenge was to take time and eat each meal slowly, without distractions of TV, or technology. Just sit down and eat like we used to do in "olden times". (Haha!) I have just completed my first meal following those guidelines... WOW! so ..sadly hard!

(shakes head)...... Mon, 12 Jan 2015 15:28:31 EST Spark Streaks....Beating my #'s I love the idea of Spark Streaks. Beating my own best numbers isn't something I would have THOUGHT would be a huge motivator...but it does work for me.

When I first joined Spark, I logged in for 81 days straight---and missed day 82 b/c of a time change while traveling/poor planning issue :( That 81 days is my LONGEST streak. I have gotten close to meeting it....but 81 is my record.

Another streak that I have attempted during the last two years is drinking 8 cups of w... Sun, 11 Jan 2015 01:09:46 EST Diabetes / January Optimism It has been many months since I wrote a blog entry... over 6 months! That post was about DDP yoga program .... My husband and I DID buy the DDPY yoga and started it in May 2014. He has been so very dedicated and pressed on . I can't say how proud I am of him (SIXTY POUNDS GONE) !!! I was NOT so successful, the bending and laying on my tummy really worked against me. My weird headaches (anytime I lean over I get a blinding headache) kicked up during the poses. My gut issues overtook most of t... Sat, 10 Jan 2015 11:34:34 EST A new fitness adventure.... After reading a wonderful success story here on Spark People--hubby & I stumbled onto Diamond Dallas Page Yoga. We decided to buy it for ourselves as an anniversary gift. We celebrate 21 years of marriage next month. I am really trying NOT to buy any more diet/fitness related items. HOWEVER, If I can get Hubby on board with getting healthy----then we will buy it! Tonight, we did the very first video and I am impressed!
SO, here's to better balance and muscle tone! Mon, 19 May 2014 22:50:51 EST 25,000 Spark Points, DDP Yoga and Upcoming Graduation. It's been busy around here. Son (18) graduates tomorrow. When we started home schooling back in 3rd grade I wasn't sure we would go through High School. Yet, here we are. I am so proud of my boy, and the man he is becoming. Community college awaits him. Daughter will come up on her graduation soon. Time flies!

Today I hit 25,000 spark points. Fri, 16 May 2014 17:44:33 EST May 12, 2014 I can't believe how long it's been since I've written a blog post. Wow,... so much has happened! I' had to have a lot of dental work done. Which has helped my headaches some ! A close friend at church had a major medical crisis that lasted from Mid Feb-until Mid April. She nearly died, and her son was born 11 weeks early. Thank God they are recovering at home now. My own life was impacted greatly by that ordeal-so SP was barely on my radar :) THEN I had a "sudden" gall bladder attack, and ... Mon, 12 May 2014 01:31:14 EST HOPE..and what I DID NOT accomplish in 2013. I must say I am looking forward to Christmas, giving the kids gifts and having hubby home a bit more :)

So, I'm not going to wish away December...

But........................ I'm looking forward to January, because it always makes me feel HOPEFUL! I feel really good, looking at the blank pages of my calendar. There is so much possibility there! Thu, 19 Dec 2013 03:59:52 EST Spark People Diabetes Tracker Today was the first time I really looked at the tracker for the Diabetes plan on SP. Very nice. I think that will be helpful. I'm just going to's been a long few months since July. Still trying to sort out some health issues. I'm trying to get back into the Spark People Groove! Thu, 5 Dec 2013 22:49:21 EST Today VBS and all of it's clean up has ended. Hooray! I went to a scrapbook retreat and spent several day relaxing at a cabin in the woods with some great ladies. We are in the thick of VBS, so I am running around crazy. Still doing the 28 Day Challenge. Tue, 9 Jul 2013 11:35:41 EST Saturday Well, my clothes dryer is needing repair so I had to go to the Laundromat. It took just over an hour to sort, wash, dry & fold SEVEN loads of laundry! Since I've been working on VBS extensively the housework and chores are really behind. But the last few days have been like a mini vacation :) 104

As soon as VBS is over I am going on a long scrapbook retreat...woo hoo! Sat, 6 Jul 2013 00:08:17 EST The Challenge days 1 &2 Yesterday I did really well. I did my Challenge video before going to work on VBS, and did my walk in the evening. This morning I did my day 2 challenge video and will be going to the church soon! Tue, 2 Jul 2013 10:47:17 EST JULY Two weeks until VBS at church. It will be crazy busy, and probably a bad time to start the 28 Day Challenge. However-I'm going to do it! That means cardio 5-6 times a week, and a challenge video 6 days/week. Those 10 min challenge videos seem to be hard for me. I get low key cardio everyday by walking the dogs but I will have to get focused and make a routine for those videos.

Today is a rest day so I'm going to go rest! Sun, 30 Jun 2013 17:34:01 EST Plans for July... In July I will be doing the 28 Day Challenge. I have completed this before..though not very whole heartedly. I've been slowly building back to my "pre-vertigo" routines. I'm still not there but I think the challenge will give me an exciting way to push through. Hope you are all well! After reviewing what the theater was showing we've come home to watch Dr.Who! Fri, 14 Jun 2013 22:42:29 EST June 10th, 2013 I still do not have an answer about the cause of my headache. BUT the medicine they called in last Friday has been more successful than anything else. Not 100% gone but much relieved.

This week will be my 20th Wedding anniversary. I am more in love today than I was then! So I'm looking forward to a date night soon, to celebrate.

I have continued to walk the dogs most everyday during the last couple of months
Though I have not been walking like I was earlier in the ... Mon, 10 Jun 2013 21:48:13 EST The 3rd Doctor.. Well, many answers.

The positive is : we know several things that are NOT causing this headache. I went to the Dr. with "sinus" problems Including vertigo on April 11th. I had already been feeling bad for a few weeks-(that's the only reason I gave in and went to the DR). Now I am on the 3rd doctor.

I am HAPPY to say the vertigo in down to almost zero. But the headache remains. I have studied the brain, blood vessels ect a lot-so that's a positive.

... Thu, 6 Jun 2013 10:43:36 EST Monday My neurologist appointment was a mixed bag of sorts. The Dr. is very nice & understanding. He gave me a large combo of pain meds to give some relief. And I'll be having a 2nd CT scan, this time with angiogram to see if there might be a leaking vessel. Don't know the date of that test yet.

I feel certain that the Dr would have sent me straight to a scan or the hospital if he truly thought there was a bleed.

Say a prayer for us that we will be patient and our attitude pl... Tue, 4 Jun 2013 00:38:21 EST Tuesday Tomorrow is the day for my CT scan/ MRI. Please pray for some answers. I've had a headache for about 2 months-different than any other headache I've had. My ears are bothering me as well. Vertigo is minimal at least!

Tue, 28 May 2013 15:57:35 EST Friday I am slooooowwwly getting back into my routines! Walking the dogs has remained a constant while I have been sick. And now I'm getting back to walking at the walk track. Tracking my food again is taking some effort. But, baby steps-you know? Today is the best I have felt in a while. No dizziness but still a big bad headache.

The weather was lovely so we opened the windows and I was able to get the house clean and went to the walking track :)

Nothing can stop you dead in your tracks like sudden/ intense vertigo-yuck!

Some days all I was able to do was log in. I am proud of that too. I did not throw my hands up and moan about how "Haaaard" it is. I count it success!... Mon, 13 May 2013 21:51:03 EST Some relief.. Yesterday was a good day as far as vertigo was concerned. Felt well enough to drive, not dizzy much just a bad headache. Today I am a bit dizzy and still have the bad headache but I am happy for the improvement! Wed, 1 May 2013 13:15:12 EST Visit to the E.N.T Well , after several weeks of feeling bad and no resolution from the Primary care Doc. Today I saw a specialist-had a few tests and will be having more soon. A CT scan will hopefully give some answers. The dr. believes the sinus infection may have aggrevated another condition that causes vertigo. So I am doing my best to maintain the healthy changes I've made. Normally I would consider this a "start all over" moment. Since Spark People I have learned better--it is a pause, or slow down-not a ... Tue, 30 Apr 2013 00:26:05 EST Major vertigo The sinus infection triggered some major vertigo. I have spent most of my time laying on one side-sleeping alot and taking tons of meds. This keeps the room spinning at a minimum. I'd planned a trip to see my baby brother this week but I won't be able to go.
On a happy note I did get 500 spark goodie ponts on my bonus spin Mon, 22 Apr 2013 22:01:53 EST Sick. Broke down and went to the doctor- I have a severe sinus infection that is triggering migraines unlike any I've had before. Not the most painful but just different. I got a steroid shot, anti inflammatory, and antibiotics. And have instructions to continue the nasal sprays, benadryl, and allergy meds. Once this is resolved I will have an annual bloodworkup. Also a visit to an audiologist as my hearing has declined in the last year.
Soooooo there is also heavy duty thunderstorms here tod... Thu, 11 Apr 2013 22:17:34 EST Tuesday A typical tuesday for me. Grocery shopping and a walk at the park. Took care of some other stuff in town and enjoyed lunch a Panera Bread..did you know the iced cookie has more calories than the tortellini parmesean! I was within SP range though.

I've had to start taking Benadryl at night to tame the allergies-it also helps me sleep. I will happily except the allergies to enjoy spring!

I walked a little over a mile, plus walking the dogs and shopping-just at 8,000 steps... Wed, 10 Apr 2013 00:37:43 EST Hmmm, familiar! It has been a lovely weekend here. Great weather-sunshine and a breeze. Very relaxing .

The weekend funny.. after walking the dogs and riding my bike I told husband I was going to "Go exercise now". He looked at me like I grew horns and said
"Didn't you just ride your bike?" That made me laugh because all I could think was "Yeah, but that was just I'm going to go enjoy the park!"

I just want to write a quick entry about SparkPoints--one of my favorite ... Sun, 7 Apr 2013 22:46:06 EST Working toward the goals.. We has a stunningly beautiful day here today. Then I went to the park and walked 2 miles before coming home. The rest was just lazy stuff.

My calories were below range today--that is very rare. But I am not hungry so I'm going to let it be. I was well above range yesterday so maybe it's just my body regulating itself.
... I ate ok, and walked the dogs three times (3/4 mile)-I believe that is one of the most positive changes I've made. Today was a mellow day for health and fitness .. I walked the dogs -a total of 3/4 mile and ate within ranges.
I've started taking Caltrate D-chocolate chews-that has kept my Vit D in range.

Yesterday I had a FIREHOUSE SUBS-italian snadwich. I made the poor choice of eating while using the Ipad-I ate the entire sandwich when 1 /2 would have been just enough. My stomach felt terrible..too full... so I walked. It was a brisk walk-just one mile but my body was grateful! Thu, 4 Apr 2013 00:51:36 EST Value So yesterday I decided to explore a new section of the walking trail. The posted mileage said 1 mile each fitbit disagreed. It was actually 5 miles , Sooo I am totally worn out! ** 5 miles round trip**

Today was a busy day , but good. I have a few minutes before church so I thought I should do my update.

First off I am trying VitaCoco-coconut water. SP radio had a segment about it and I thought, why not. I bought 2 yesterday--a SoBE brand, and VitaCoco. The SoBe one was ok, it has stevia in it and I always have issues with artificial sweeteners so I think I will not have it again. It had 65mg of potassium, while the VC has 470mg. Maybe this will be a good thing to have when I cannot take another banana!
... Wed, 27 Mar 2013 17:47:01 EST Place Holder?! I was baking my husbands birthday cake and "tasted" TOO much. I feel like there is a giant balloon in my gut--no good.

I *did* walk the dogs three times, did Coach Nicoles's Bootcamp video and 10 minutes on WIi Fit. I just didn't get myself to walk the 2 miles I planned.

I have been drinking plenty of water too. So the day is not a complete loss.

Tomorrow is my shopping day, since I ... Tommorrow is new day. I'm inching closer to that -10 pounds lost- mark. 104 Sun, 24 Mar 2013 00:17:32 EST Batch Cooking It was a productive day. I made several batches of DIY taco seasoning, ranch dressing mix, onion soup mix, fajita mix and hot cocoa mix. Then I went for a walk 2 1/2 miles. I enjoyed putting those together so much I decided I wanted to do some "batch" cooking. So one trip to walmart and about $125 later I got home and started putting things together. I made two meals of each -Bacon Ranch Chicken (pinterest), Cilantro Lime Chicken (pinterest) Green Chili Enchiladas (pinterest), Meatball Sub Me... Well it was not a shining example of a *perfect* health and fitness day...but that's ok. I did walk the dogs twice. And worked on my classroom at church. Otherwise it was low key sunday stuff. Our typical church, eat out, relax, church and eat out again-I know, it could be better.
