KHDOESMK's SparkPeople Blog KHDOESMK's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community Night Terrors return with a vengeance A young child's screams penetrate the peace of a quiet evening in our household. The technical term? Night terrors. These invasive interruptions are an emotional upheaval for all of us in our home on a nightly basis. They started when our child, our great granddaughter by birth, youngest child by adoption, was around a year old. We would all be startled by her screams, piercing the evening and peace of our home. Getting her a dog about six months ago seemed to help and kept her sleeping... Thu, 27 Jul 2017 11:09:36 EST Our little nightmare! Or our BIG miracle I have to blog and document this as I don't want to forget it. The older you get, the more you forget and I believe this was a miraculous as our child lived through it.

Thursday evening our six year old complained of a tummy ache and went to bed early, eating little. This was not unusual as she frequently complained her tummy hurt and being the parent of a great grandchild, you err on the side of not overreacting. Friday a.m. she was sick, I mean she was vomiting so hard she co... Mon, 24 Jul 2017 15:21:58 EST Really struggling I have put back on lots of weight, my life is upside down and I don't have any energy left these days. I'm not sure how to cope as even though I hate the weight gain it the mindset that is worse. Eating is again all I seem to get pleasure from as I can't exercise. My bike is being repaired, but then I have to find the time, in the heat. Having another child at 59 has totally knocked me off kilter. I'm not sure how to get back on track.

So, I guess one can say I'm discouraged... Mon, 29 Jul 2013 11:10:33 EST First Ride for the new Knee!
On Friday the physical therapist said I could get back in the saddle (bike) again, so yesterday I rode. The weather finally turned around and was in the low 70's. I rode for about 35 minutes and it was wonderful! So nice to be on the bike again.

The knee is getting better daily and I've even been able to "Walk it Out" on the WII, which is something I haven't been able to do for more than a year now. Tue, 8 Jan 2013 11:01:01 EST Gotta NEW Knee Only have a few minutes here today, but will work on a series of blogs about the whole surgery process. I will probably title it, "If it could go wrong it will for me....Call me Mrs. Murphy!" But, make no mistake, even with the recovery, rehab still going on I think the knee surgery was the RIGHT choice. The one thing I wish I knew before I had the surgery was how much WORK the rehab was afterwards. I don't mind the work, it was that I was totally unprepared to the self discipline I woul... Sun, 30 Dec 2012 11:44:18 EST Why do professionals LIE? It's a drum I beat, I know, but I HATE when people LIE to me. Tell me I'm loud, tell me I talk too much but DO NOT LIE to me. I loved my CPS case worker and am devastated she left to move to Phoenix. Kati Lapan Farina was incredibly good at what she did and never played games. My current one has been straight with me too. On the other hand another agency I'm dealing with is not the same. I'm not stupid and when someone LIES to make themselves appear competent it is maddening and it ir... Thu, 26 Jan 2012 11:47:59 EST Bad Knee Leads to Struggle with Attitude Okay, so I went to the orthopedic doctor who I TRUST 150%. He did at least 4 x-rays of my knee and the news isn't great. I thought maybe a "new" one on no more pain and swelling and walking again. Nope. I have no cartilage in the exterior right knee and he thinks knee surgery is too extreme at this point, for my age. He is ordering an MRI so he can see if maybe the issue is a torn tendon. We shall see.

It's just plain depressing when you've been active all your life to being... Thu, 5 Jan 2012 12:02:04 EST The Coffee Mug Sunday was the day the mug cracked, not an earth shaking occurance until you understand the day we had planned. We had planned for an uneventful scattering of my daughter Monica's ashes in Parker Canyon. I wanted no drama and just wanted to have it done, with dignity. We had the memorial that everyone contributed to and participated in after she died. The distribution of the ashes was to be anticlimatic. I wanted to do it soon as I know my mom needed closure. With a family of adults who... Wed, 31 Aug 2011 13:47:58 EST Neither a Martyr, or a Saint, nor a Failure I can't stand it any longer, I have to blog. First of all I want to state I'm not seeking medals nor do I require pity. A little compassion would be appreciated and realize compassion comes only from "for really" friends. Condemnation is from the devil and his tools/people who are willing to dispense it to hurt others. Spark people blogs did a good one from one of the coaches on Judging Others. GOD has taught me a lot in the past few years about judging others, by their weight, or even l... Fri, 19 Aug 2011 12:46:31 EST Darkness and Demons I don’t spend much time focusing on satan/the devil. What time I have I choose to focus on the FATHER, my FATHER, who has “delivered me from (the) evil (one).” Focus is important and in the day when I first came to end of myself speaking against the devil was popular, I found myself spending far too much time (energy) rebuking a weaker (but not weak) enemy who “prowls around like a roaring lion seeking someone to devour.” (1 Peter 5:8)

But in the 20+ years I have lived with a ... When you cook or bake, you have a recipe to follow and if one ingredient is dog poop, why do you wonder why your recipe tastes like crap! You can't blame others if you add the "poop!" If you fail to follow the directions for the recipe you can't possibly see the success you desire. Blaming others for your inability to follow the directions or ... Tue, 2 Aug 2011 23:12:19 EST Bikin' with the Babe! Well, it finally happened. My hubby got the baby seat on my bike, but I'm not sure if I'm ready for this. It does add resistance and I can't take her off the street as the highway is 65 miles an hour, two lane, no bike lane. It's okay for me, but more fearful for Adrianna in the seat. So, maybe will put on the bike rack and take it into the "city" to ride. They have a bike lane. We are still working on tweeking the helmet. Sat, 16 Jul 2011 20:02:22 EST Back in the (Bike) Saddle Again Well, I'm back behind the ole handle bars of my bike again. My knee might not let me walk without a limp, but I can peddle without pain. Time was the issue. We celebrated month four yesterday, of having Adrianna (our granddaughter) in our home, as she celebrated 8 months of being alive!

But it is not an easy task for us, in our senior years. I have found very little time to ride my bike. With it being summer ... Tue, 5 Jul 2011 22:57:50 EST Adrianna and Updates We are into our second week at the pool for Adrianna. She is not drinking quite as much chlorine this week, but a little young to swim. She is kicking her feet more, but prefers to stand in the warm pool, on the bench portion, holding onto the sides.

She's a little ham with the camera, and even if she comes up sputtering has no fear, this she gets from my son.
<img src=" Tue, 28 Jun 2011 10:50:50 EST Southern Arizona Burns It is so sad to see the fires raging. But, these days my perfume has been designated by the spit up of my youngest granddaughter, Adrianna. She is so cute, but I sure wasn't expecting this. As my husband and I meet her daily/nightly needs, we marvel at the wonder of GOD's creation and also worry (a bit, trying to keep our trust in HIM) about her future, IF it's outside of our home.
<img src="http://photos-ak.sparkp... Wed, 27 Apr 2011 10:16:53 EST Liar, Liar, Pants on Fire! Most of us remember this little ditty we sang/spoke as children. What does it mean to lie? To make a statement containing an untruth, to fabricate or make up something. Where does the propensity to lie come from? Well, it seems to have ALL started in the Garden of Eden, with Satan, whose name means "deceiver." Why shouldn't we lie? Are there consequences to lying?

When my children were younger I alway taught them that IF they lied, they would have to remember what it was th... Sun, 27 Mar 2011 13:22:02 EST Oatmeal it is!
I have been told I needed to get Adrianna eating, and this has been a challenge with her cute little tongue coming out of her mouth, experiencing it. Then when I tried rice cereal she threw it up after I finally coaxed her to eat barely a tablespoon. At her "weigh in" last Wednesday the nurse suggested I try oatmeal. It was a winner, she ate it well. The photo above was taken after she "chowed down" two whole tablesp... We enjoyed our trip to Northern Arizona. It was nice to get away from all the drama here. Sad to say we were met with more of it as soon as we arrived back home. It is sad when people like to create drama to wound the innocent. I cannot conceive the evil going on around us...BUT, I have no fear as GOD is faithful and it is HIS job to take care of those who would try to attack us.
