I knew the risk of training for a half during the Chicago winter...but it was still brutal!

30 degrees, misty / snowy, terrible winds....

I'm so happy its over!! The odds for this race weren't really in my favor and I can't help thinking how less than 6 months ago I ran a full marathon and felt great / injury free the whole time.

I've ... Mon, 18 Mar 2013 10:22:42 EST Hump Day http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5276258 This is going to be short, but I'm trying my best to keep up with the 5% challenge and make my firecrackers proud :)

Work is so overwhelmingly busy, it's hard to keep up this week. Because of this, I haven't been eating enough during the day. But, on the bright side, I'm keeping up with my workouts. Taking tonight off to recoup.

Hope everyone is having a good Wednesday - can't wait until Friday!! Wed, 6 Mar 2013 17:01:40 EST March! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5274158 March has arrived faster than expected! I rang in the start of the month with a weekend in Seattle and my bday! Now that I'm back in Chicago, I'm hunkering down at work for the impending blizzard...

Anyways, I'm ready to start focusing on the spring 5% challenge and ready to make some changes this month. I have my half marathon in less than 2 weeks!! Let me tell you - training during the winter is NOT ideal!!! But, nothing beats a long Sunday chilly run in the snow :)
<... Tue, 5 Mar 2013 10:49:10 EST Winter 5% Challenge http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5251393 A little behind - but better late than never :)

1. My plan of attack: exercise program will remain the same - running 4x per week, working out with my trainer 1x per week and 1 additional day of strength training. I'll be stepping up the weekend runs with my half marathon coming up in 4 weeks. As far as eating goes, I just really want to focus on whole foods, less snacking, less going off the deep end on the weekends.

2. Spark page: Will update shortly

3. ... Fri, 15 Feb 2013 09:53:00 EST Chicago Marathon - I'm a finisher!!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5092530 I did it!! What an amazing experience, I can't even begin to put it down in words. The whole week seems like a blur and it all went by so fast. Sunday we were up at 4:30am getting ready for the big day. The weather was amazing (COLD!!), but perfect for running. I took the train in from Evanston with 4 of my friends and fellow runners. Here's me and Elizabeth on the L:

By the time we hit up the bath... Tue, 9 Oct 2012 11:01:11 EST The Journey http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5082199 Well, it's finally here! After 4 long months of training, the marathon is 6 days away. It has been quite the adventure but I'm really looking forward to being done :)

I laughed when a former Chicago marathoner told me that I would have fun training. What?!? And frankly I'm really shocked to say that it was actually fun. I had a blast and I'm ready for Sunday (as ready as I'm going to be).

Weather forecast is looking promising too. Mostly sunny, high of 53, low of... Mon, 1 Oct 2012 12:52:46 EST September http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5035855 I can't believe this weekend is Labor Day weekend already. Summer has been so busy, but mainly due to marathon training. I happy to report that all is well on the training front and I'm counting down the final 6 weeks before the big day.

"Knocking on wood", my training has been as good as I could have hoped for. I've successfully ramped up to 18 miles and have the big 19 miler this weekend. This is somewhere I really never imagined I would be. I've been counting down my trai... Wed, 29 Aug 2012 10:15:44 EST Marathon Training http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5003438 Wow, okay so I've been completely MIA from Spark People all summer. Yikes! Life gets in the way...

So, I must say I haven't really kept up with losing any weight because I've been marathon training! So, I'm okay with that for now :)

Yesterday officially marked the halfway point in my training. It's been going really well (despite the crazy heat this summer). I'm up to 15 miles and headed for 17 next weekend. I've officially passed my longest run to date (half marat... I'm so excited yet sooooo scared at the same time. It's not just a pipe dream anymore - it's really real!

So, it's my plan and hope to officially drop these last 10ish pounds before training starts. I've had a major lack of focus these last few months and now I have a goal that I really want to meet.

So, to break it up, here are my mini weight goals:

March 1: 139
April 1: 135
June 1: 130is... Wed, 1 Feb 2012 13:25:59 EST Getting out of the funk http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4684133 So I'm not 100% sure what it is, but I've been in a funk the last few days. I guess it's just a combination of a lot of things - work stress, friend stress. I let myself mope around yesterday, ate crappy and didn't work out...which is a funny of handling it because doing this always makes me feel worse.

But that is behind me and I'm ready to face the week with renewed focus. And hoping for some good numbers for the Shooting Stars this week!

Looking forward to workin...
