But it will go away. I've been sleeping way too much.

Things are looking up, though. My sister is going to pay to have my car fixed. Gas is leaking into the oil. Not a good thing. I found a new mechanic; one whom I think (after talking to him for awhile) I can trust. I'm leaving my car with him on Tuesday. He thinks it's probably fuel injector problems.

My dog, Sandy, is doing well. I have to housebreak him again. Due to circumst... Fri, 1 Oct 2010 04:08:57 EST News - Good & Not So Good http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3682743 It's a warm, rainy day in NW NJ. I don't mind it; it's not pouring, just raining lightly.

I never made it to my Colonoscopy this week. It was scheduled for yesterday, but last Friday I woke up with a mild sore throat that got a lot worse by Saturday. I took Chloraseptic for that &, by Sunday the sore throat was gone. But I could hardly talk. I had infection in my chest. I'm doing okay now. I'm on antibiotics for it & it's clearing up. I'm at the point where I'm getting cran... Thu, 30 Sep 2010 17:03:40 EST Good News! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3666631 I went for my endoscopy on Wednesday as scheduled. It wasn't bad at all. The worst part was trying to gargle with the numbing stuff. It was very thick & rather hard to do, but I did it. Then my doctor put the sedating medicines in my IV & the next thing I knew I was back in the Minor Surgery area. The only after-effect was that, as the day wore on, I felt kind of cranky. I found out that that's a side effect of the one drug; a rather unusual one. I found that out yesterday when I went ... Fri, 24 Sep 2010 03:11:04 EST Great News http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3666626 Well, I had my endoscopy on Wednesday. The worst part of it was having to gargle with the numbing agent. It was rather thick & hard to gargle. But, I managed. It had a slight taste of banana. After I gargled, I had to swallow it. Then my doctor put the sedative & Demerol (they use Demerol for additional sedation) in my IV & the next thing I knew I was back in the minor surgery area. I went home soon after.

I wanted to clear up some issues with my doctor, so I got an appointm... Dr. Madane didn't say much, but he got me to schedule an endosopy examination to see what's going on. I also (finally) scheduled my first colonoscopy. I'm a bit nervous about that one. It's not so much the procedure as the preparation for it. But, after having the whole thing explained to me, I feel much better. For one t... Sat, 11 Sep 2010 01:52:36 EST Happy Days http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3515978 I'm happy today.

About 2 weeks ago, I started breaking out in bumps on my back. They were a little itchy & sore. At first I thought it was some kind of heat rash, but it got worse. So, this past Thursday I went to my doctor. He said that he thought that I had Shingles. The reason that he wasn't sure is how long it stayed (he said the rash usually goes away in a few days). Also, it was on both sides of my body; usually it's only on 1 side. He gave me a shot & an antiviral m... Sun, 8 Aug 2010 19:17:46 EST Better Days http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3479242 Things are better for me again. A friend (a very good one) bought me a new air conditioner. It's a Sears Kenmore. 8000 BTU. It keeps my whole apartment very comfortable. So, now I can get on with everything that I put on hold because of the heat.

Today is a beautiful day. It's about 85 degrees, sunny, low humidity & windy. The wind is nice because the sun is hot (it is summer, after all).

I called my doctor a little while ago to get a new script for physical thera... Wed, 28 Jul 2010 16:04:32 EST Feeling Better http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3451041 It's cooler today & I have more energy. We're in the middle of a heat wave. As I think that I mentioned before, my air conditioner doesn't work anymore. My apartment has 5 windows with a southern exposure, so it's usually hotter inside than outside. I should mention that 4 of those 5 windows are very tall - over 5 feet high. The house was built around 1900. But it lets in a lot of sun all day.

Anyway. My garden has all but died & last night I went out & took out the dead fl... We've been having a heat wave for the past several weeks. My air conditioner doesn't work & the temperature in my apartment is often higher that outside. The heat really does a number on me. Not that I think that I'm alone.

My electric bill is still on hold, but it's still on. My Social Worker has been on vacation for the past week, so nothing has gotten done.

I made it to 2 days of the District Convention. It was ... It really helped.

I'm feeling much better. Except for the heat. My a/c doesn't work as well as it once did. I think that I'm going to research air conditioners & try to get one that will be better suited to my apartment. It has what we used to call a railroad layout. You come in the door. This is what I've finally started to call my living room. There's an archway (no door) into what I use as my bedroom. Then there i... Fri, 25 Jun 2010 03:10:06 EST Feeling Kind of Depressed http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3330843 Hi Everyone,

I've been feeling a bit depressed lately. I'm not sure why.

I'm still having sleep problems. My doctor put me on Crestor a few months ago. Meanwhile, I had a lot of muscle sensitivity in my back & an all-over feeling of discomfort. I have fibromyalgia, so I didn't think anything of it at first. Then, one night I sat down & wrote down the things that I wanted to discuss with my doctor. The second one was the pain. Then, when I walked my dog, it dawned ... Sun, 13 Jun 2010 21:08:23 EST Today http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3258311 Sandy's doing fine now. He's still limping, but I think it's more from habit.

I have come to the conclusion (through thinking & observation) that part of my sleep problem is due to sore eyes. So, I asked my doctor for Patanol (drops). They work magic. So, I'm not sleeping so much during the day. However, I still have pain problems during the night. I think a lot of my pain is due to arthritis, so I started taking Alleve & it seems to help. My muscles still get stiff, but Som... Sun, 23 May 2010 00:06:12 EST Sequel to Vet Visit http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3199617 Sandy is feeling much better. I think his main problem is the arthritis in his hips. I asked him about 2 hrs. ago to sit & he did. He just did it again. He used to do it very well, but for the past few years he hasn't wanted to sit. It never dawned on me that he had arthritis & that was the reason. I don't know where my mind has been. I'm supposed to change the bandage on his foot today. I don't want to try to do it all at once, so, after I walk him tonight, I'm going to cut the banda... Wed, 5 May 2010 23:07:42 EST Vet Visit http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3194726 Hi Everyone,

Well, I took my dog (Sandy) to the vet yesterday. There's no infection. The vet cut his nails, cleaned the wound on his pad, gave him his Distemper shot & just generally checked him out. He does have arthritis in his hips. She told me to put him on Omega 3 (fish oil) & she also gave me some pain relievers for him. He also got his heartworm test. He's negative & is now on heartworm preventative. He behaved beautifully throughout the visit. I take a lot of pride ... Tue, 4 May 2010 18:16:47 EST Recent Activity http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3186766 My dog has a cut foot. I think he cut it on glass, but I'm not sure. I think I'm going to try to get him in to see the vet tomorrow. He needs his shots, heartworm test & pills, etc. It doesn't look too bad, but he's really limping around. He was off of his food yesterday as well. I'm giving him aspirin (not too much) & it seems to help. I'm also trying to put Neosporin on it (he's not licking it), but I can't do it if he's in his crate because he bites me. It's a fear issue that I ca... Sun, 2 May 2010 21:06:20 EST Friday http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3154678 Well, I did some research on Scabies online today. I found a picture of what it looks like. Not a drawing; a photograph. I definitely don't have Scabies. Meanwhile, the area in question is almost completely healed over. In case you don't know, Scabies is caused by a parasite that lays eggs. That's what causes the irritation & itching. I'm going to go back to WebMd.com & look into itching some more. I think I read something about Vitamin B12 & itching. And every time I get blood teste... Sat, 24 Apr 2010 02:38:35 EST Doctor Visit http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3151074 Today I went to my doctor for a routine visit. I asked him about the problem I have with itching. He told me that I probably have bugs!!!! He meant, of course, dust mites, but that doesn't help me very much. He gave me a prescription for an insecticide to rub all over my skin (wherever I can reach). I'm supposed to let it dry & leave it on for about 8 hours & then wash it off. He must be nuts! That certainly doesn't solve the problem of dust mites & it leaves me wide open for another a... I either sleep a lot or not enough. I lack seriously in energy. Other than that, I'm fine.

I've started my flower garden. I only have pansies so far, but that will change.

I haven't felt like blogging or even going through my e-mail lately.

But spring's here!! I never give up on myself. Fri, 16 Apr 2010 22:12:14 EST Today http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2982853 I managed to get my sleep cycle messed up, but it's coming under control. What helps are more warm, sunny days. The 'too-much' sleep (hyper-somnia) is pretty much under control.

My doctor thinks that I probably have a bone bruise on my hip & to put physical therapy off for a while until it heals. It's getting better. I also found a new chiropractor & now I can walk (most of the time) without too much pain. So that's a good thing.

It's baseball season (pre-season, an... Wed, 10 Mar 2010 13:25:26 EST Hyper-Somnia http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2881213 I finally got a name for my problems with too much sleep. It's called Hypersomnia. There are more than 1 causes, but sleep apnea is one. Depression is also one. Since I suffer from sleep apnea & SAD (mild) it's possible that both have played a part in it. My doctor told me to make sure that I sleep with my C-Pap mask. It does help. I had to stop using it for a while because my hair was too long & the mask wouldn't stay in the right place. If it's out of place, it does no good.
... Sun, 14 Feb 2010 17:47:02 EST I'm Back!!!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2770566 I finally solved my problem of not being able to post comments & blog. I was using Mozilla Firefox as my browser. It kept getting slower & slower (to start up as well) so I deleted it & went back to Internet Explorer. I didn't think to check again to see if I could comment again until just now (it's 5:30 a.m. et). Like getting to doctor appointments, picking up prescriptions & shopping. Also, a trip to Staples for printer ink. I have an appointment with my nutritionist on Tuesday & I forgot to call the bus company. I have no idea how I'm going to get there. I have just a little bit of discomfort on the left side of my mouth. Today is the last day of my antibiotics. Yeah!!!

We are supposed to get hit by a blizzard tonight. They've predicted 1-3 inches this afternoon & 4-8 inches tonight. I hope we get it. I love snow. My dog does, too. Thu, 17 Dec 2009 13:57:37 EST My Day at the Dentist http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2636593 I was able to make it to my dental appointment today. I was originally going to drive there (it's about 40 miles away) but having my car break down squashed that plan. I finally found someone to take me there. Yeah!!! I had 11 teeth extracted (bottom). Now I don't have any teeth at all. Isn't that great? I think so. My teeth have been causing problems for years & they gave me trouble. In fact, it is believed that most of health problems (like sinus infections) are related to my denta... I think that the reason for that is my diet & lack of exercise. I don't feel like doing anything at all for the past few weeks. I just realized that I'm fighting another sinus infection. So now I have to call my doctor later today for an antibiotic.

I'm supposed to go down to the NJ Dental School (40 miles away) tomorrow (15th) but I don't have my car because the water pump on it gave out. Just as I got there, the water pump decided to blow. We never got to the doctor. However, my sister & I had a nice visit. I never realized it, but we have a lot in common. I'm hoping that I can somehow get her to move up here by me. That way we can spend more time together. Meanwhile, she's fixing my car for me. She called me tonight to tell me that she had gotten the new water pump installed (she's quite handy). ... Isn't that great? In the process of getting it straightened out, I managed to mess things up. However, after some phone calls I finally got it fixed (I hope). The trouble is, the whole thing wiped out my mail program. I found my mail in the Default, but then something happened & I kept getting a failed login. It seems to be okay now, but I lost all of my address book.

I went to see my doctor. I finally got my A1... Fri, 6 Nov 2009 01:38:37 EST Another Good Day http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2529391 About a week ago I had an appointment with my dietician. My weight was up to 207. That's more than when I started here, but still lower than when I started treatment for Diabetes. I weighed 230 lbs. then. What happened with this weight gain is the fact that I had gall bladder surgery with an infection (not serious). Then I had hand surgery. A lot of stress. So I ate. I ate a lot of ice cream & other goodies. The good news is that I'm beginning to turn things around. I think that I'v... Mon, 2 Nov 2009 22:15:44 EST Today Was a Really Good Day http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2507197 My day today didn't start off that great. I couldn't sleep & I had lots of twitches & pain. I took medication for these things. I never did get to sleep, but by about 9:30 a.m. I was pretty out of it. I tried lying down & trying to take a nap, but that didn't work. So I just went with the flow. By about 1:00 p.m. the side effects had pretty well worn off, so I decided to take my dog to the State Park about 10 miles from me. There's a lake there, so of course he had to go in the water (... My doctor put me on Klonopin for RLS about 2 weeks ago. The 1st time I took it, it knocked me out. I didn't take it again for a day or 2 & then tried it again. It didn't knock me out. In fact it didn't seem to do anything at all. But I kept taking it. Then I started experiencing some depression accompanied by by agitation. It finally dawned on me that the only new thing was the Klonopin. So I stopped it about 2... I think that it's partly due to the weather. We haven't seen the sun in a few days. I'm also having problems with my allergies & I think that I have the beginning of an infection.
My blood sugar has been fluctuating lately. I saw my doctor on Monday & he said that he wanted to get me on C-PAP therapy before we deal with that. Unless, of course, it goes too high. It did go over 200 the other day, but it went down.
