I was away visiting my nan and pop at the beach and figured with no gyms in sight I might as well lace up the tenners and hit the pavement. Saturday morning was perfect, I had a liter of water before I left the house at about 8am, an empty stomach, walked for a bit to warm up and took off, ...er running. Hehe. I decided to give myself some credit since I hadn't been on an outdoorsy run since November and just take it slow, stop when I wanted and walk when I needed to. I en... I wrote a blog earlier today on my lunch break that was pretty blahhhhdy-blah, down on myself, undermining my abilities, etc. etc. I decided against posting it because I knew I wasn't in a fantastic mood and I didn't want to come off as a debbie downer when everyone is so uppity on the new years high! Wed, 9 Jan 2013 22:37:34 EST Week 8 Summary, little late- better than never! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5179794 Sooooo, basically I took the week off. I didn't exactly plan on it but one thing led to another and I finally decided to simply enjoy the holiday with my family and not stress so much about when I was going to be able to track my food or make it to the gym. We all spent Christmas week at my Mom's so that meant that my sister(home from college), my fiance & myself and my grandparents along with my parents, three dogs and three cats... shew. It was definitely a Christmas that I will never forge... Sat, 29 Dec 2012 11:55:38 EST Week 7 (holy crap, it's week 7 already!?) Summary http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5172379 I feel like I start every week off telling you about how crazy it was, and it feels like they all are! Work is fine, social life is crammed with the holidays approaching, plus I just got the news that I have been accepted into grad school! I start my spring semester in the beginning of feb. and am pursuing my masters of science in health care administration! Workout/food wise this week was a challenge as usual. I now feel as though I'm stuck in a rut when it comes to healthy lunches and have ... Everything started on friday when I experienced my first ever low blood sugar attack. I have NEVER, EVER, felt so sick in my life. I was sitting in a meeting at work and wasn't feeling well to start with due to TOM, but I was managing okay, until all of the sudden I started sweating. The heat was up too high in the room and I just felt like I was hyperventilating, I could not stop sweating! Th... I was definitely put to the test with everyone's holiday goodies that are making there way through my workplace. I feel like everyday of the week I was presented with a new sweet treat. I definitely indulged way too often and the results showed on the scale this week. I still am trying to find the balance between enjoying a Christmas goodie and overdoing it. Having a few treats everyday this week, definitely overdoing it. I didn't miss a work out but... Thu, 13 Dec 2012 19:39:06 EST Week 5 Summary! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5157618 This week was crazy! I felt like the busiest bee, and of course ended up contracting a nasty head cold Friday night-Saturday morning. I always plan out 5 fitness days that way I have a little wiggle room in case something pops up, but this week I definitely skipped the 5th workout. I was short of breath, dizzy, feverish and just plain old miserable for about 3-4 days. I still managed to meet all of my goals and lose a pound! I need to remind myself of this week whenever I’m struggling for mot... There were aha moments and there were struggles. I ate fruits, vegetables and proteins and also pasta, pizza and beer. Some days I went over my calories and some days under. Some days I wanted to throw in the towel and be a tubby bride and others I relished in the fact that my favorite jeans are getting easier to button. Some days I couldn't wait to get off and get to my workout and others I couldn't wait to get home and... Sat, 1 Dec 2012 09:03:27 EST Week 4 Summary! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5150034 Another successful week behind me! This one was slightly tricky with the holiday and all and it really had me in a funk. I've been so used to being on this strict schedule with really minimal distractions! At home I'm so get up and go and on such a routine. I go to work, come home, change, have a snack, go to the gym, run errands etc. if needed, come home, make dinner, pack lunches, shower, sleep. While it was very relaxing to just hang out with family, lounge around lazily watching football,... Wed, 28 Nov 2012 22:51:37 EST Habit forming! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5148702 Experts say if you can do anything consistently for 21 days it becomes a habit. I can definitely say I see the truth in that statement. After about 3-4 weeks at my new 9-5 job I consistently wake up at 7:30-7:45 every day... even on the weekends... boo. I still always set my alarm but I find myself sometimes waking up right before it goes off anyway. Next challenge, to start going to bed at a consistent time to make bed times a habit too. <BR> <BR> I've been pursuing my lifestyle change fo... Thu, 22 Nov 2012 12:01:15 EST Week 2 Summary! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5136798 This week was slightly more challenging than the first, which is always usual for me! I get a high from all of the healthy planning, getting back to the gym, packing healthy lunches, etc. during week one. Week two and beyond for me is more of adjusting to the routine, avoiding triggers for hunger that aren’t actual hunger pangs, finding the comfortable medium between being sore and resting or being sore and pushing through it, and trying to maintain a comfortable balance between healthy life... Seriously, my new job lovessssssss luncheons. My old place of work was cheap, busy, not very employee oriented, and there really just wasn’t a lot of people working the same shifts for it to be worth it. We had a party or luncheon once a month to celebrate birthdays but they were usually quick and to the point because all of us had deadlines or something that we had to be doing. We moved back in with mama to save for a house. I quit my stressful, annoying, low-paying, overworking job as a hotel manager in August! Finally something lower than before :) Also I wanted to take my measurements since I'm starting this strength training routine, and I haven't really taken them seriously and tracked them since I first started back here (Nov. 16, 2009!!! MY one years coming up!) I have lost 3 inches i... Fri, 12 Nov 2010 10:51:32 EST advice please: which is more important? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3777155 Cardio or Strength Training? <BR> <BR> I'm having a lot of trouble with this lately. Normally I focus only on cardio, I save each day that I have time to workout for cardio only normally 30-45 minutes and lately that has depended on how far I have to run (for my 10k training). But lately I've noticed that even thought I've lost 15 pounds I'm still wearing the same size jeans and they still aren't really too loose on me, I guess they aren't as tight as they were but still. Then I remembered I... Thu, 11 Nov 2010 11:55:19 EST an informal review of the Kinect fitness games http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3775199 So if you're anything like me your boyfriend, husband, son, daughter, etc. already has an Xbox360 (along with an entire bookshelf of games) and you're probably wondering whats all this hype about the Kinect. We've had it since the day it came out... go figure, and I've had a few days to play around with it myself and I LOVE IT! It's basically a controller-free gaming system with a sensor tracking your every move. It recognizes your face when you step in front of it and even welcomes you back... Wed, 10 Nov 2010 12:53:56 EST she's alive.....!!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3755529 ...and mildly upset about why I wasn't anywhere near spark or the internets for that matter. I was told my my wonderful boyfriend that the internet wasn't working and that he contacted our internet provider and they would be coming out asap. While it stinks not to have the internet it was kind of nice just to be at peace with myself, I did not have access to check my race website a 100000000 times to check the course (which hasn't changed, and won't), I didn't have access to obsess over diffe... Tue, 26 Oct 2010 14:40:42 EST week 1, day 2 training run! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3733717 Yep, got that done today :) My legs were sore from yesterdays run since I'm still getting used to running outside again and I wasn't going to but the weather was so pretty I decided to give it a shot, if I couldn't do it I would just walk. But I'm surprised to say that I ran the whole way! One downside to this run was realizing that my nike tracker for my ipod is indeed broken. Today it told me I ran 3.2 miles in 22 minutes.. Um that's a 7 minute mile, yeah no way. So I got home and tracked m... Fri, 22 Oct 2010 17:53:40 EST week 1, day 1 10k training http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3730944 Just got back from my first "training" run. I haven't run outside in a while, like more than 2 weeks. It's been raining and nasty and the sun sets before I get home for the day, so its been the treadmill as of lately. Today I was supposed to run 2.0-2.5 miles to keep up with the either of the training schedules my friend found me online. I made it 2.3 in roughly 21 minutes, which is a 9'20 pace. HELLO! That's my fastest mile ever!!! Well I hit my first mile at 9'19 so technically that's my f... Thu, 21 Oct 2010 13:10:55 EST has a funnnn challenge up her sleeve... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3729627 I'm training to run a 10k! I think this is just what I need to get out of my fitness rut. I picked out a fun one, and its December 12th!!! So I have just under 6 weeks to train. I have had on my sparkpage forEVER that I would like to run 3 5ks and maybe even a 10k this year and what better time to do it than at the end of a great year. I already can run 5ks with a little ease so I should be okay to double my mileage. I'm doing it with a good friend from work who is an avid runner so she's go... Wed, 20 Oct 2010 22:07:04 EST
