The uniform of the runners. Some who didn't get to finish and make the goal that they trained and worked so hard for. And some who did finish, but whose experience was marred by bloodshed and cowardice.

I'm angry. I'm so angry that I find this hard to write.

I didn't... Tue, 16 Apr 2013 15:58:08 EST Day 17: Feeling Official http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5312399 Coming to the realization that I will actually have two jobs starting on Monday. Since I decided to do consultations only on evenings and weekends, I actually booked three consultations for Saturday morning. People are finding me through my articles online. Yesterday I filed some motions in court. Whenever I do that, I feel all official and stuff. I don't get to court much, so when I do it's a little nerve-wracking.

Yesterday was a gorgeous day! I did a lot of walking yesterday. Wa... Fri, 5 Apr 2013 09:37:53 EST Day 16: Rediscovering the Smoothie http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5311231 I made a very simple smoothie yesterday for lunch: fresh strawberries, crushed ice, coconut almond milk, and a scoop of french vanilla protein powder. It made a huge portion and it was only 200 calories and 20 grams of protein. Kept me full til dinner. Funny how we forget about these things when we slip back into bad habits.

So we booked a hotel for Mohegan Sun for next weekend. I'm excited to get away and it will a good way to celebrate the first week of my new job. We actually ge... I usually don't have a problem with Week 1 of C25K. It's everything after that that's tough! I was on the treadmill, but hope to run outside this weekend. I'm enjoying the FitBit too, and finding it nice to see the difference between an "active" and a "lazy" day. I have been tired a lot too, because Keira has been having some trouble at night recently.

I've lost 4.2... Wed, 3 Apr 2013 10:07:28 EST Days 11-13: Feeling the Sun http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5307392 Saturday was a great day. We went for a long walk and of course ruined the exercise with ice cream, but it was worth it.

Saturday night was rough, lots of night waking from Keira and Sunday morning was just as bad. Surprisingly, she decided to straighten up for Easter dinner and we had a pretty good afternoon. Of course, she woke us all up at 4:30 this morning...

No tracking this weekend but did well. Restarting running today! Wish me luck! Mon, 1 Apr 2013 11:10:47 EST Day 9-10: Getting There http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5304366 Starting to feel a bit like I used to when I limited my food intake and moved more, which is great. Isn't it weird that how when you are not paying attention to what you eat, you can forget what actual hunger feels like. I had two good days, especially considering I went out to eat lunch with a friend.

I decided to take the offer from the state and start work on 4/8. I'll be working in the same building as my husband. This week has been a one of transition for Keira too as she move... Fri, 29 Mar 2013 13:02:00 EST Day 8 - Committing http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5300638 Yesterday my Dietbet started. For those who don't know, it's a competition to lose 4% of your body weight in 4 weeks. You put up real money into the pot and whomever meets the goal splits the pot. So if you meet your goal, you're guaranteed your money back - maybe more. Here's the link if anyone is interested: http://www.dietbet.com/games/11434

It was a pretty good day on the whole. Keira was feeling a lot better, though she's been waking at night recently. I got some work done and... Tue, 26 Mar 2013 10:40:35 EST Days 4-7 - More Illness, But It's a Brand New Week! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5299464 Yes, no updates for the last few days. But it's a brand new week and I feel recharged again.

Here's what happened:
198 Keira wrapped up at her old daycare on Thursday.
198 Then we went for her doctor's appointment on Friday. I was surprised that the pediatrician expressed concern about her not standing or walking unassisted yet because I've heard of kids who didn't walk til 18 months.
198 Then she threw up and had a nasty virus all w... Mon, 25 Mar 2013 12:23:41 EST Day 3 - Can't wait to get out of there... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5294674 Yesterday was another trying day. Keira will just not settle in daycare since her favorite teachers left. She's acting like we just started going there (we started in September!) with the separation anxiety and screaming and crying. She cried so hard she puked. Ugh. I hope that the new place is a little better for her. But we just need to get out of there. Today is her last day. Her "old" teachers start as nannies on Monday and we start easing her into the new school on Wednesday.

... Thu, 21 Mar 2013 08:30:03 EST Day 2 - More snow, less fun! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5293614 Yep, another freaking snow day!

Keira's school was closed, meaning I'm home with her all day as she gets antsy about going places and generally in a bad mood. I had to reschedule clients and occupy a toddler all day. I love spending time with her, but being locked in all day just me and her doesn't always make for the most pleasant of times.

Plus she's taken to pointing at the TV and screaming "MA! MA! MA!" Nope that's not "mama," that's what she calls Mickey Mouse. She... Wed, 20 Mar 2013 11:22:55 EST Day 1 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5292396 Lent for me (Greek Orthodox) started yesterday and I figured it was as good a time as any (post St. Patrick's Day!) to get going on my goals. Hence "Day 1."

So I tracked food (and realized I forgot to log some stuff, oops... tough to get back into the habit) and got on the exercise bike for a half hour. It felt good to "get back into it." I need to remember that. I did a good job getting 30 lbs off after the pregnancy by last September, but I've put it all back on, sadly.
<BR... Tue, 19 Mar 2013 12:38:48 EST Here I Am http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5272841 February was another hell of a month, (ear tubes surgery for Keira, mono for Jon, lots of work for me) but I am back onboard in March.

I am challenging myself to do something active every day (even SparkGuy's (in)famous 10 minutes a day) and to log my food at least 5 times per week. I rode my exercise bike last night and realized how easy it is to get unfit in just a few short months.

But I'm working at looking forward though, and not backwards (thanks, SPUNKYDUCKY). I hope your holidays were happy and that you are looking forward to a wonderful 2013. I sure am.

I'm not going to lie. The last part of 2012 (going back to work full-time) was a huge adjustment for me, and I struggled to make time for myself. That needs to change. We were also really sick for most of the season. Tomorrow we take Keira to the ear nose and throat doctor to talk about getting tubes to help with her ears. I can't wait to finally have a solution.
<BR... Here's what's up:

471 Keira is crawling like crazy, loving daycare and being with the other babies, and is just such a happy, bright and good-natured child. And yeah, she loves pumpkins. Especially pumpkin bread. And she was a zebra for Halloween.

<img... Mon, 3 Sep 2012 09:53:35 EST Rest in Peace, Nicole http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5023908 My good SparkFriend, NICOLE12-01 lost her battle with breast cancer yesterday. Nicole was so dear to me even though I never met her in person. We went through so many of the same milestones at the same time. We both lost over 100 lbs at around the same time, we did C25K together and ran our first half marathons on the same day. She delivered her beautiful little girl 3 months before I delivered mine. We both had strained relationships with our moms. We both gained more weight than we wanted t... Mon, 20 Aug 2012 19:59:07 EST Pressure http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4999118 Right now, I'm feeling insane amounts of pressure. Pressure to be a great mom, pressure to still work and bring in some money despite being a full-time caregiver (until September), pressure with deadlines and clients who want me to be 100% there all the time despite my being a full-time mom for another month. Tue, 15 May 2012 09:24:45 EST April Update http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4850275 April has been going well so far. The weather has made it so I'm running and walking almost every single day (except this week - stupid weather and stupid work!) and I'm down about 5 lbs this month (finally!). I exceeded my fitness minute goal already and I've tracked my food pretty much every day. Dropping calories seems to have worked wonders, though those days when my sodium intake is high really causes the scale to fluctuate. As much as I'd love to make losing weight a top priority, I thi... Tue, 24 Apr 2012 17:13:18 EST April Plan http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4818173 I had a good month exercise-wise with 1,220 fitness minutes. I can run about 2.5 miles at a time and I'm running 2-3 times per week. I completed a 5K in 41 minutes. I'm taking Keira out for walks almost every day. I only lost three pounds and my measurements dropped slightly but not that much. I know nutrition is the culprit. I was averaging about 1500-1700 calories a day during the weekdays and probably about 2000 on the weekend. I know I ate too many sweets at night, even if I did fit them ... Stop with the junk food and sweets people keep bringing over (had Five Guys today, so good but need to limit myself)

4. Get reacquainted with veggies

5. Walk every day Wed, 4 Jan 2012 20:26:29 EST Keira's Birth Story http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4641860 My daughter (man, feels weird to say and type that!) Keira Elizabeth was born on December 22, 2011 at 11:27pm, weighing in at 7lb 10oz and measuring 19 inches. Here's how she got here!

I was antsy during Thursday morning so I decided to help my grandmother find a Christmas toy for my cousin at Target and had lunch over at her house. When I got home, I was tired so I went to lie down at about 2pm.

At about 3:30pm, I felt like I wet my pants and went to the bathroom to ch... Wed, 28 Dec 2011 14:45:44 EST The Waiting Game http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4634003 Less than a week til my due date! It's really hit home that she could be with us any day now, but yes, it is kind of annoying that I don't know what Christmas has in store this year: Will I be in the hospital? At home waiting it out? Or at home as new parents? Same goes for New Years Eve.

Everything is wrapped and underneath the tree, but I'm waiting for my present to get here!

I've finally started to feel that some things are out of reach: like bending over too much and... Wed, 21 Dec 2011 12:21:07 EST Lil' K Nursery Photos! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4626734 Here we go, the nursery is finally complete! All that is left is hanging her name over her crib and this will be her little space. I don't consider myself a very "decoratory" kind of person, but I saw the crib bedding set and drew inspiration from that. We decided on the pale green walls before we even knew we were expecting, so I always knew I wanted a colorful botanical theme for either a boy or a girl. I'm not a pink person.

The bedding, curtains, mobile and lamp are from the sa... Thu, 15 Dec 2011 11:33:33 EST Getting Close http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4624364 Lil' K is due in 2 weeks!

I got laid off from the firm last week, so I am DONE with temporary contract work. I didn't get the news until 10pm on Wednesday night, and I was so excited I couldn't sleep! Again, I'm grateful I was able to use the work to save money so that I can spend time home with my baby and concentrate on my business once she's passed the early newborn stage of needing her mama all the time...

AHHHHHHH!

I went to the doctor today and I'm alrea... Tue, 13 Dec 2011 15:54:52 EST The Non-Temporary Chapter http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4617486 Yesterday was my last day at work. Yes, I know I said I'd quit before the end of November, but I decided to be patient and wait to be laid off in order to be eligible for unemployment benefits. The last couple of weeks have been tiring and frustrating, but I hope at last that this is the end of my working at a job I hate. I want to finish decorating the nursery, packing my hospital bag, and get everything ready for finally bringing this baby home!

I am a little over 37 weeks pregna... Thu, 8 Dec 2011 09:01:21 EST OMG One Month Left http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4599742 Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! It was a great day. I love turkey so much, I think we need a holiday in late February, bringing back the turkey and trimmings. It'd be a nice break in the middle of a long winter, eh?

Tomorrow marks 30 days to go until lil' K's estimated arrival. We go on Tuesday for another ultrasound to see how big she's getting and in what position. She was still measuring 2-3 weeks ahead as of last week, but the midwife said her guess would be an 8-po... Sat, 26 Nov 2011 08:40:49 EST Getting Closer... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4575228 Me at 32 weeks:

Everything is starting to feel a lot more real now. I went to a newborn care and CPR class on Sunday and met some of the most uptight moms imaginable! They looked as though every decision they made was going to be life or death. They shot me and my cup of coffee daggers. Oh well, haters gonna hate. I'm going to a childbirth class next weekend.

The instructor was good though. It... Tue, 8 Nov 2011 20:16:48 EST Nut Up in November http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4563469 This isn't about health and fitness or nutrition. But it certainly can be.

I have come to a conclusion.

I need to be braver.

I need to stop worrying about other's expectations of what I should and could be. Once upon a time, I could say I wanted to be wildly successful in my profession and extremely in love with my partner and ready to start a family.

Well guess what, Kristina. One out of the two ain't bad.

But you can do better.
<B... Tue, 1 Nov 2011 14:56:56 EST You know you love the Kit Kat blog... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4561224 Happy Halloween!
333

www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_jo
urnal_individual.asp?blog_id=3748611
Mon, 31 Oct 2011 10:59:52 EST Two More Months http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4556399 Wow, definitely starting to feel like the home stretch! Two months from today is my due date.

Well, it finally happened. I woke up on Tuesday and I was like, whoa, everything seems a ton more difficult. 31 weeks in. How lucky am I, huh? My lower back was killing me and walking down the street was a chore. I felt a lot of pressure in my abdomen and had a hard time getting comfortable all day long.

I think lil' K had a growth spurt this past week, because pop goes the bel...
