Sleep is still a difficult issue, but my walking has increased despite the new nerve pain problems in my left leg. Since I know many people that deal with chronic pain everyday, this keeps me up and at it with my motto 'no excuses'.

I am being kind to myself. If I am truly tired, I do my best to rest. If I need to cry, I do. But I also dive in wholeheartedly to my daily walks, and prayer time, bible studies. I s... Thu, 29 Oct 2015 18:49:48 EST So this man impressed me http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6006332 After my husband's death, I made the acquaintance of a man(57 years old) who became a great help to cleaning up my acreage, in trade for items I own. He doesn't have a lazy bone anywhere in his body, and very intelligent (as is his wife!). He is having a good influence on me, as I can see, as rule I've been too lazy. So whenever I resolve my stress related sleep issues, I know I will step my activity up a notch or more. This family has really inspired me. I am so grateful. Tue, 29 Sep 2015 18:31:07 EST Out in high humidity http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5992691 This morning found me in my garage, moving things to fit better, and taking in a few things needed and for rummage sale. There isn't that much in there, except also there is siding for the upper parts of house, my friend's ladder, his church lawn mower, a large brown painted desk from years ago that needs to get out of there but particle board for house project leaning on it. And house project at standstill as my friend needs to work on someone else's home now. The old aluminum storm windows ... Mon, 7 Sep 2015 11:59:18 EST Moving another small trailer of things http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5989883 My dear sister in law Judy is back for a few days with me. Having someone to help move a table, etc, made it so much easier and fun to work. So over 7000 steps and not as weary as I normally would be. Had a small hamburger for dinner, then we split a banana split, then walked around our small town graveyard to relax and read tombstones. The older ones are amazing in design. Then drove around to see a fancy stone structure which I never had seen in the cemetery as I've never been down every ro... Wed, 2 Sep 2015 21:36:45 EST Boy do I feel out of shape! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5982185 Even though I am moving a lot more, when I walked to the Family Dollar this afternoon, I felt rather icky. I had food, water and ibuprofen. But I do seem to have a sinus/inner ear problem making me a tad dizzy.

It did make me feel a bit blah being at my lowest weight in two decades, yet not as fit as I'd like to be. This will be motivation for me to keep at it. I admit mostly all I do is unpack and deal with day to day life right now.

I don't know when I will get bac... Fri, 21 Aug 2015 16:56:43 EST 28 days into widowhood http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5969366 How is that for a title? Scary to type, yet I am keeping so busy, I do not think the reality has set in fully yet.

I am boxing up possessions for a short move into town. Culling things as I go, smiling a bit when I find something that brings me joy. Crying at some photos.

Even embarrassed at the number of craft books I still own. But my interests are my own, and I have no one to tell me yes or no about such things.

I could not have made this move without my Ar... Thu, 30 Jul 2015 19:50:08 EST James, July 2, 2015, 12:15pm, Thursday, R.I.P. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5954879 At 12:15pm, after lunch my husband of 37 years died peacefully at the Circle of Life Hospice House, after only 4 days there. I was with him all the time, and the night before he was restless and kept sitting on the side of his bed, so I sat next to him and held him. I'm glad we had our final moments together, and he wasn't in pain.

I thought of this like a reverse honeymoon, instead of starting life together we were ending it. The hospice house is homey and roomy. The staff so ma... Fri, 3 Jul 2015 10:29:32 EST June Jitters http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5940840 So June brought the horrid news of advanced terminal cancer of my husband so I am stressed to the maximum this month.

He can't taste food much so it is liquid Boost for him, but on limited liquids as well. I did finally find a Very High Calorie Boost for him which is coming from Amazon. It is all we can do at this time.

Only God knows his time span or mine. I am trying to be strong but it is very hard on both of us.

Some well meaning relatives causing a b... Sat, 6 Jun 2015 18:18:28 EST Good May Madness http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5929062 I've been staying on the low end of my calorie ranges, and my body really is responding, like average of 4 lbs a week for last two weeks. It almost is weird since usually my body fights weight changes tooth and nail.

My belly is shrinking. My measurements not so much. Maybe waist one inch. But I am sure it is just a matter of time.

The weather zooms from hot to very cold days. We can't put our jacket away. We have to have extra blankets sometimes.

Hope yo... Sat, 16 May 2015 10:16:04 EST I remember before recycling http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5802287 This recycling thing has me thinking sometimes.

Like I watched a youtube video, bragging that this restaurant did not take out it's trash, yet in the video I saw food put in styrofoam containers. It was great his veg scraps went to chickens and his plastic milk/water jugs went to the recycling center but it made me think.

I grew up in the 60s and 70s. My Mom got married in 1954.

She got Revere pots and pans, and used them until she died.
We had melmac p... Tue, 21 Oct 2014 17:31:14 EST The Dog Days of Summer http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5765501 Okay this isn't about dogs.

We do have a sweet lab mix dog, rusty in color, from across the road, that visits for water, cat food and attention, and uses my north yard as her personal toilet.

It is about the sultry days of high heat and daily morning downpours of rain, that make end of summer days unbearable for the faint of heart, and makes my outdoor cats appear to be stuffed animals laying in the shade.

Needless to say, little of my fitness minutes are spe... Sat, 23 Aug 2014 12:53:07 EST Husband on his tractor http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5732708

My husband on his hand crank old John Deere tractor (green one!), Fourth of July parade in our home town.

EDIT: James died of liver cancer on July 2nd, 2015, so he never got to ride this tractor the next year. Cherish your loved ones every minute. Change can swoop in so suddenly. Sat, 5 Jul 2014 20:14:02 EST Here a weed, there a weed, every where a weed weed http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5705486 Summer is here no matter what calendar says, and the weeds growth.

I mix up ground clear spray for around the buildings, fences, driveway, burn area, camper, his assorted piles of metal........the list is long. This takes a lot of time and I stagger it as I tend to hunch over to spray with my ten dollar sprayer with a short wand. I want the stuff where I want it. I mean you could wipe out a lot of green with this stuff. I know, chemicals, ack ack. But tall weeds, ack ack.
... Wed, 28 May 2014 20:18:44 EST A whimp when it comes to bugs! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5490444 My friend thought he'd mow here for me, so I was out in the yard, shoveling down and tamping down the mole hills before he got here.

A large locust landed on my chest, and I screamed like a girl and jumped, landing with one foot on the shovel, and almost did myself some sort of mischief.

I didn't. No twisted foot or anything but locust ONE, woman zero.

Mole 1287, Me zero.

This country living is not for the weak.

I got some buckets, thin... Fri, 13 Sep 2013 19:19:54 EST My brother says: Heels up to heal up! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5405719 I can't lay claim to that great phrase. It is my older brother that lives far away in Chicago who said it. Email is our way to communicate. At lunch time he has time to email after a Vegan lunch. Yes, he, the foodie of the family, is Vegan. I am not but think he is wonderful for doing that.

So it is nice to have a brother in my corner as I want to heal up. I admire my big brother as he is at proper weight, eating well and exercising.

Today I got my order of Hanes pant... Sat, 29 Jun 2013 19:33:08 EST Shingles -So Icky to have on one's face http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5306798 For the last week and a half, my body had an outbreak of shingles,
located on my head and upper face.

Now you ladies know when something blotches up our face and hurts, tingles, burns etc we are not having a good time.

Since I am scabbed over, I went to usual Sunday church things, and the 7am service held in the local graveyard for Resurrection Sunday.

Tomorrow I meet with ladies for our weekly Beth Moore study, and I think I will leave off the bandaids a... Sun, 31 Mar 2013 22:45:41 EST Man, 82, gets married http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4981476 I was invited to a lovely simple wedding at a local church yesterday. Ed who is 82 was marrying a 'younger' woman in her 70s! I never laughed so much during a ceremony... very joyful event!

And when they kissed it was hot hot hot!
And it was 100 degrees outside so their ride to the reception in an open old fashioned red fire truck meant a sizzling start to their marriage.

I had a piece of cake, sweet punch, two cream cheese mints.
What fun!
Okay, now back... Sun, 22 Jul 2012 09:28:55 EST Strange Ad in local want ad paper:Cats http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3672394 The local grocery store puts out a weekly buy & sell flyer every Thursday. This week I spied an ad for :
Free kittens: big enough to eat and everything!

Uh, what?!
You have to laugh at the wording of some ads. Sun, 26 Sep 2010 20:47:32 EST
