Scary to type, yet I am keeping so busy, I do not think the reality has set in fully yet.

I am boxing up possessions for a short move into town. Culling things as I go, smiling a bit when I find something that brings me joy. Crying at some photos.

Even embarrassed at the number of craft books I still own. I was with him all the time, and the night before he was restless and kept sitting on the side of his bed, so I sat next to him and held him. I'm glad we had our final moments together, and he wasn't in pain.

I thought of this like a reverse honeymoon, instead of starting life together we were ending it. Tue, 21 Apr 2015 20:06:13 EST Don't be an April Fool http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5904217 This is a reminder to myself, to not waste the perfect spring days, by staying inside, when I could be outside, tidying up massive areas of the yard. This place was abused and neglected for decades, and as I rake the yard, I find so much garbage, plastic twine I assume from bales of hay, metal... too much to list.

So I need to exercise, and now that winter's cold blasts are over, I must not be foolish and spend too much time on my bottom in a chair, inside the house. Fri, 20 Mar 2015 14:20:05 EST Spring is mud season http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5893590 Three times a day I sweep my kitchen floor to clear off clods of dirt that are getting tracked in, so it must be spring. Husband has had no work for three weeks, so we have plenty of foot traffic. He has had to pull his lawn mower and pickup truck out of the neighbor's field of mud twice. No.

It does feel wonderful to be above freezing.
It makes me smile that husband was home to put new thermostats and elements... Sun, 15 Mar 2015 21:48:57 EST Three below tonight http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5878328 Winter has finally decided to hit full force. A few weeks ago it was fourteen inches of wet snow. This week, lots of wind and cold.

I have a very old zinc hot water bottle, and will fill it tonight to keep both our feet warmer as DH watches his TV shows. Wed, 5 Feb 2014 17:31:00 EST Tidying up the yard in the cold http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5611117 Since today the wind as finally slowed down to five miles per hour, I got in some yard work.

Papers to burn, and I walked around picking up lots of tiny bits of aluminum that used to live in a big box under the camper, but a few nights ago we had at least 75 mph winds, as plywood was blowing as well. I had picked that up the day before and today the aluminum. Even with thinsulate mittens my fingers got very cold!

I moved fast and no cats helped me since they are snuggled... Fri, 31 Jan 2014 11:52:54 EST Living in a malfunctioning deep freeze. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5603426 The weather this winter has been a roller coaster of deepest below zero Canadian temperatures mixed with some days above freezing and even 50 degrees. I am grateful for the thaw cycles, really I am.

I imagine I'm living in a deep freeze world, and it is not working well at all. So far we have not had tons of snow so at least that part is kind to us. Other areas keep getting dumped on, and I am sure the complaints about this winter are piling up as much as the snow.

Th... Thu, 23 Jan 2014 13:33:32 EST 100 Days of Weight loss book http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5590785 This is the challenge/book I am doing with others. This is day 11 and though I am learning a lot about myself and good strategies, my weight is the same.

I do enjoy journeying with others in a group. We set our own goals for this simple challenge.

I don't think I would have started walking in place more often with out it. So it is helping.

Learning about being committed, do it anyway, and food is fuel.

I still find myself wanting to use food f... Sat, 11 Jan 2014 23:40:08 EST Seated Arm & Shoulder workout http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5585007 This nine minutes was a challenge, as the only sand filled weights I had were five pound ones... I think five pounds. I remember lighter weights, and all split open while in the barn stored, the cold/moisture did them in. This last set I had duct taped closed to save them.

So did the arm & shoulder workout as part of day one of Beyond the Scale, plus a bit more.

I am trying to get my mind wrapped around all the things of this challenge. There is a spreadsheet and step... Mon, 6 Jan 2014 22:35:13 EST Am I ready for some fitness? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5578884 Time to hunker down. Again.

Fitness not fatness.

Activity, even chair exercise. Whatever works, works.

Focus and commit.
This is no time to quit.
Avoid excuses like the plague.

One day at a time. Thu, 2 Jan 2014 01:56:10 EST Snow, pizza and Chunky Monkey candy http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5559982 Today was the first day of really covering snow, so far two inches of fluffy type that could not make a snowman so basically pretty and easy to sweep but no fort building for anyone in this area this week.

I swept off my wee bit of cement slope out the north door, and the cement step on the east, and made a path to the burning area. I had to really watch my broom, as Garfield, being lonely for my company, trailed around me and I did whack him lightly a few times, as he just could n... Sun, 8 Dec 2013 19:50:55 EST Christmas cookies on the Internet http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5557845 I've been looking for a few fun recipes to make Christmas cookies this year as gifts for some friends.

So much fun! I found a red and green swirl cookie, sugar cookies, banana candy like treats using a box of pudding.... I printed them and no photos, and since all I have is an ancient black ink printer, I am good with that. It was a most relaxing evening, and now I am ready to clear off my little counters, clean well and set up a table for space to use and tomorrow is bake day. May... Thu, 5 Dec 2013 19:08:12 EST Cats and the Cold snap http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5549739 The last few days have had temperatures below average with 11 degrees then 5 degrees. Today 26 degrees so much more doable.

The cats have a heated pet mat in a wooden box with openings, high up in the barn in a sheltered area to keep warm. The heated water dish is right outside my north door. Even the neighbor's dog uses it as so many move to the country and don't think about the water needs of their outdoor pet. They seemed to be away for the weekend and the dog visited us mostly... Mon, 25 Nov 2013 08:49:29 EST
