This morning, I ran my usual route (2.2 mi) with better times than yesterday, but still a little bit of walking. After coming home and making myself a delicious peanut butter and banana smoothie and reading a chapter of the book I'm in, I decided to go out and try another mile. :) The time was better than I was expecting considered I'd already had a workout in for the day!

Going canoeing with some friends this weekend...shou... Thu, 17 Jul 2014 14:42:59 EST Progress! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5740068 With my hours at work being so few, I've gotten into the habit of running quite a bit over the summer. For the past few weeks I've run an average of 2 miles on every day that I'm not at work. So far this summer I have run over 48 miles!! That's crazy to me!

My time for my first mile has been steadily dropping. Last week I ran a mile in under ten minutes for the first time in I don't even know how long. Today, my times were slower, but that was because I actually RAN my whole route ... Wed, 16 Jul 2014 12:17:01 EST Numbers. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5268710 I need to focus more on becoming a healthier individual and less on the numbers that are associated with "fitness".

Losing a pound means nothing to me if I know that it's due to the loss of muscle mass.

Staying under 1500 calories means nothing to me if I know that most of those calories came from high-fat, highly processed foods.

Running a mile under ten minutes means nothing to me if I can't finish the rest of my workout.

None of these numbers mea... Fri, 1 Mar 2013 14:47:23 EST Anticipating spring. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5264836 Even after all the fattening food I ate over the weekend, I still managed to be down half a pound from last week. Initially I was excited, but now I'm considering the fact that I could have lost muscle mass and gained more fat. Either way, I'm back at school and ready to get back into my habits.

Spring break's in a couple weeks. This may be the first year I actually have what I would consider a "spring break body". If only the weather would comply :P Tue, 26 Feb 2013 14:25:39 EST Decisions, decisions. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5240372 The more I think about it, the less certain I am that I want to go to medical school. The costs are just too expensive - and something I don't have - and it would be another 9-10 years before I could even get a job.

I know this sounds like I'm giving up...which is why I think it'll be difficult to explain it to everyone in my life. But it's something I've considered extensively! Physician assisting school looks promising, as I could still work with children and in a medical setting... Wed, 6 Feb 2013 14:43:15 EST Spring Semester http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5221747 ...and back in the routine. I've gotten in a habit of trying to go to the gym at least 3 times a week, where I run and lift. About halfway to my goal of the "freshman negative 15" :) Meanwhile, I've gotten a part-time job, want to focus on keeping my grades up, and try to keep a positive mindset as I figure things out for the future. Thu, 24 Jan 2013 14:03:44 EST Holiday season. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5151992 Been working out since early September, and was down roughly seven pounds. Then Thanksgiving break happened, and I went home to tons of yummy Thanksgiving food, late-night fast-food runs, and Skyline after church :( So it's back to square one, pretty much. Trying to regain the motivation to get back into my good exercise and eating habits! Fri, 30 Nov 2012 19:52:06 EST
