Wed, 4 Jun 2014 12:59:05 EST New Personal Best http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5697037 Yesterday, at my session with my personal trainer, I did something I haven't done since I was a child. I did box jumps! Granted, the box was only 6 inches tall, but , for a person who hasn't been able to jump on anything for 30+ years! a 6" box jump (repeated over 30 times) was a very big deal for me. To say I was excited when I finished the met com, which was 3 rounds of 10 box jumps, 10 barbell thrusters, 15 wall ball squats, and as many kettle bell swings I could do in a minute (29, 31, an... Sat, 17 May 2014 12:48:58 EST Relinquishing Control So I Can Grow http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5695047 I find I reach points in my life where I catch myself being an observer rather and being a true participant. These times are usually infrequent and are generally characterized by a general level of subdued behavior, less inclination to laugh or make jokes, and a lack of clarity and sparkle in my eyes. I am not particularly fond of these periods of malaise, but I know that they do occur as part of life's cyclic nature.

I have found that, while these times are uncomfortable for me (... I finally caved and went to my doctor and got the antibiotics I need to kill this dizzying monster. I had forgotten how debilitating a sinus infection could be. Given the nature of the antibiotics I am on, I am presently cramming all the probiotics and yogurt I can into my system 4 hours after each dose in the hope of keeping up with the death rate of by beneficial flora in my system. Yuck! Tue, 22 Apr 2014 12:21:15 EST Rebound http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5675965 Sometimes life sneaks up on you and snacks you very hard in the face. It takes you by surprise, it makes you reel, and it comes out of nowhere! Memories are like that sometimes. Especially flashbacks of a time in your life that maybe wasn't so positive and left a great effect on you. It can cause all kinds of reactions depending on who you are. When that happens to me, I need to get out of where I am and go somewhere that I can reconnect with my core. It doesn't happen to me very often, but w... Sat, 19 Apr 2014 21:35:55 EST Growth Points are a Blessing http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5673029 I am blessed to be learning something new every day, whether it be by way of meeting new people or by experiencing new situations. I have learned over time that, regardless of the nature of the learning (be it happy accident, sorrowful happenstance, or any other emotion in between), I get to become stronger as a human and am better able to give to others in need. I cannot put a high enough value on that and am grateful for it each day! I saw that I looked a wee bit confused and had to ask myself what was causing that look. Glancing down at my body, I noted that I was not carrying myself as positively as I had 4 months ago and that my posture was slightly off center.

The scale said that I was 12 pounds up from my lowest weight thus far. Mon, 24 Mar 2014 16:38:30 EST Seeking the golden ring http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5593825 I have had to spend some serious time reviewing what I am doing overall to see what I can tweak to reset my brain and I think I have found it.

What I need is a new target. You see, my big goal was to surprise my family at Christmas with the New Me! That went off perfectly, but I began to seriously flounder after that with food, exercise, and depression.
