My father's health brought me back here and with my sister we have jointly created a wealth of memories of family, country sides and city scapes. Today we returned to paris on our last long train ride.

The countryside changed from the quiet lush green of Normandy to the hustle of Paris. We rented bikes from a little place called Maison de Velo, right near the train station. The bikes are the first I have ever rented and loved! Usually bike places I have rented at have kind of dumpy bikes, but these were new road bikes that were a dream to ride. And get this: for a mere 10 euros we rented them from 9:00 to 7:00!

So, we took off towards one of the seaside towns using the scenic route the entire way. (2014- Blog #46) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5625203 "You can have results or excuses. Not both."
Jen Segger

There have been times in my life where excuses for not being as healthy as I should be ruled. Here are a few of my "regulars".. that start off some poor choices:
18 I have had a long day.
18 I did awesome yesterday.
18 I had a crappy day.
18 I am tired.
18 Basically my clothes still fit.
18 I just love sweet stuf... Each day online, I learn something that impacts the way I think. The most powerful, as I think I have said before, is the myriad of blogs and spark pages. Here is a bit how I see this quote.

We all have the human condition in common - that condition that has us taking care of a physical body. We all have in common a need to make sur... Sat, 15 Feb 2014 00:17:32 EST Stopping for the right reason (2014 - Blog #44) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5623574 On my way to work today, I thought about stopping for a latte. I have not had one in a long time! I had a goal of limiting them each week and that turned into really not having any. I got to thinking about WHY I was stopping for a latte.
Was I hungry? No.
Was I thirsty? No.
Was I craving coffee or caffeine? No.
So, why have I been stopping all these years for a latte?

I have plenty of time to consider that question and the best I can come up with is HABIT..... Wed, 12 Feb 2014 23:37:38 EST Remarkable Video about Body Image (2014- Blog #42) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5621866 Take a peek -

www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player
_embedded&v=E8umFV69fNg

This video was posted yesterday on Spark. What a remarkable project! As I watched it I was reminded about how much "society" defines beauty. We cannot escape those images that bombard us every single day from every angle possible. From what is "beauty" in our homes, to what is "beauty" in our diets, to what is "beauty" in our physical selves.

I often chuckle and winch a... Wed, 12 Feb 2014 00:42:42 EST Cravin' Veggies! (2014 - Blog #41) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5620807 After four days without being able to leave the house (ice and snow and a steep driveway!), DH finally got out! Not easy feat, but close to 5pm, SUCCESS!!! after some slipping and sliding. And did I have a list for him!

Over the past four days we were getting to the bottom of the veggies - carrots gone - onions gone - tomatoes gone - lettuce gone! The last of the broccoli and celery was looking pretty pathetic in the veggie drawer. So, my list prioritized the veggies I was fantasi... Oh my, isn't that the truth!

When I view television, so much of our advertisement IS about short cuts. We are such a "quick" "now" "fast" society. ("We" being pretty much anywhere!!)
24 Learn a language with no pain or time using THIS special DVD.
24 Make money faster by winning the lottery.
24 Eat breakfast faster by running to the fast food pla... (2014- Blog #39) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5618917 I watched the first episode of the Biggest Loser and the last 45 minutes of the last episode. I watched this time because I keep hearing about it! So, I gave it a shot. I did not have much interest in watching the entire season but I was impressed and touched by the stories of each contestant. Their individual dedication to taking this huge step to health was striking

The last 45 minutes was equally striking. I did not even recognize the contestants - so overwhelming was their wei... Sat, 8 Feb 2014 19:47:35 EST
