LOL Actually, it was just the front burner, which can easily be replaced. The large back burner hasn't worked in over ten years but we didn't really use it much anyway. Odd how the one seldom used quit working YEARS before the one that was used almost daily.

Anyway, today is my grandson's (and a niece's) birthday. Conner turned 5 years old today! Fri, 19 Dec 2014 11:51:28 EST December 9 - Hours http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5830498 Work called me today to tell me they were cancelling my hours for Thursday. That's fine. As long as I can maintain my 32 hours average to qualify for insurance next spring, that's all I care about. I can always add some vacation hours if need be.

Besides, with my daughter and grandson coming into town next week, I have plenty to do before they arrive. Tue, 9 Dec 2014 21:35:16 EST December 2 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5826153 I survived Black Friday, but as a neighbor of mine is fond of saying, "my tired is hanging out". It's going to take a few days to completely get caught up on sleep/rest. Working twelve to thirteen hours straight is hard on an old lady! (Think of me when I am working on Black Friday!!) 40 I work from 5:45 pm on Thanksgiving afternoon to 6 am the next morning. The Sweeteze that I have been taking (part of Youngevity) seems to be working, but of course, I will get a doctor's confirmation next month before changing any of my meds. Removing ALL wheat and oats plus any oils from my diet has been extremely beneficial as they interfere with the Youngevity working 100%. My thoughts was "great - another expense I can't afford". But I took it to my reliable car mechanic who's always been very trustworthy and within an hour, they were picking me up to get my car! Thu, 3 Jul 2014 12:35:00 EST June 28 - Red cards http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5727931 FINALLY got two red cards today. For those who don't know what that is, it is a debit and/or credit card from Target, and while the cashiers don't really get anything for it, the number of red cards we sign up does reflect on our annual review. The two red cards I got today were the first ones since the 16th - so almost two weeks without getting a red card - doesn't help my average.

Oh, well! 40 Sat, 28 Jun 2014 20:15:22 EST June 25 - Always ask questions! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5725571 In making arrangements to get my property taxes caught up, I had inserted a couple of questions with the contract, asking why the monthly payment was almost $800 more than what I owe. Wed, 18 Jun 2014 22:36:47 EST June 17 - Pomeranian http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5720183 The 12 year old Pomeranian we adopted from a neighbor about three years ago is on her last legs. She can barely get up and does nothing but let out a howl or a scream all night long. It kills me that I don't have the ability to take her to the vet and just have her put down.

She's such a cutie! Never yipped like so many small dogs. I almost wish she would go soon so she is no longer in misery. Still, I cry about it. I'll be tired but appreciate the hours. So imagine my surprise when I walked outside on my way to work and saw about 1/4 of my neighbor's tree on top of my son's car! An entire limb, no less.

Been warning about that tree for years now, saying one day, it was going to fall on my son's car. It's one of those shallow-rooted maple-type trees, which I hate. Mon, 9 Jun 2014 19:07:12 EST June 6 - Maybe some results http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5712272 I spent a LOT of time on the phone today - probably around four or five hours- trying to get a handle on the diabetes diet. I found a dietician at a nearby hospital that is conducting a quarterly class but she was very sweet and spent about fifteen minutes asking and answering questions as well as giving me some tips on what may be going wrong. Initially, she thinks that now that I've upped my exercise routine (which she fully approved of due to the variance), that I am possibly not eating ... This diabetes is really doing a number on me, even though I am keeping (for the most part) my carbs in line. In my case, when my glucose is out of whack, I get nauseous rather than the shakes.

Hated to call in today and miss out on an eight-hour shift, especially since work has made a big deal about my calling in, even though I've only called in three times this year. It will be the 10th before I can get in to see the new doctor but that can't be helped. Sat, 31 May 2014 21:55:37 EST May 29 - Exercise http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5706078 I made myself do it...as much as I hate exercising...I made myself go to the rec center and exercise: 35 minutes on the treadmill and another ten on resistance machines, mostly for my legs. My hands are still not back to full strength yet. Thu, 29 May 2014 13:34:17 EST May 26 - Happy Memorial Day! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5703465 Isn't it sad that the majority of people don't seem to even know what this holiday is about??? 652 I saw one youtube type of interview where the people thought it had something to do with surfers that had died. Tragic.

On a good note, work called me this morning and since they are over on payroll, asked me if I wanted to take the day off! Fri, 23 May 2014 08:54:32 EST May 20 - Doctor http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5699582 I've gone from taking two pills a day to about five. The doctor gave me three prescriptions for high blood pressure, anti-inflammatory and some other diabetic medicine because my sugar count is so high.

In the meantime, my son is pouring Tangy Tangerine, Selenium and EFAs down my throat and to be honest, they have helped more in two days than weeks of the prescribed medicine. I walked into work expecting to work but they wouldn't let me with the cane in my hand. I just can't put any pressure on the left leg, which is the one that was giving me trouble last summer and was getting better while I was doing my therapy but then when I got hit with the diabetes, I wasn't able to continue for awhile because it made me nauseous to get on the floor, not knowing what was wrong with me at the time.
... I don't know if I'll be able to go to work tomorrow or the next day and I really can't afford to miss the work. Wed, 14 May 2014 00:13:15 EST May 9 - Synopsis http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5691616 The last two days were not a good days at work. The one supervisor who has a Napoleon complex made a complaint about me that was totally unjustified. She is always push, push, pushing about red cards, which is fine - that is her job. However, it is the way she goes about it that is unnerving to all the cashiers. She talks to us in front of our customers and I've had more than one complaint about it. She has no problem talking to us about getting the red cards in front of customers but wh... Fri, 9 May 2014 23:05:42 EST May 6 - Glucose http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5689322 doesn't seem to matter what I do, I can't seem to get my glucose reading down. I've tried eliminating certain foods to see if that is the culprit but so far, no results. So I'm going to try and see if I just need to keep the carb allowance down. Each person is different and it may be that the 150 that the doctor allotted me doesn't work for me. So that is what I'm going to try this next week and see how it goes. Tue, 6 May 2014 22:29:35 EST May 3 - Back to work http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5686788 Ended my first week back at work. I did okay till the sixth and seventh hour but that was mostly my feet rather than my hands. I worked on my day off (till midnight) simply because I needed more hours for the week. Beginning week after next, I am back to my usual 30 plus hours, which will be nice. Sat, 3 May 2014 23:09:53 EST April 29 - Work http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5683015 I returned to work Sunday and luckily, I only worked about five hours each day for the last two days...which it turns out, is about all my hands could handle. The supervisor that does the scheduling is only giving me between four and five hours a day for a little while so my hands won't be overworked at first. Good thing because by the fifth hour yesterday, not only were my hands beginning to hurt but I was just plain tired. Kind of got used to being able to take a nap whenever I wanted. ... The return flight had a heady tail wind and we arrived about thirty minutes earlier than scheduled HOWEVER, it did no good as we had to sit on the tarmac for about fifteen minutes while waiting for other planes to take off THEN someone failed to contact the ground crew to let them know of our early arrival, so we sat ANOTHER fifteen minutes in a hot plane waiting for the ramp to be pulled up to the plane., 234... Luckily, the electricity was back on in only four hours.

HOWEVER, yesterday morning we experienced the same thing during an even weaker thunderstorm but it was discovered there was a fault with the transformer and it was a little over fifteen hours before we had electricity - from 4:15 am to almost 9 pm. Yesterday marked one month when the entire dog fight situation happened and I'm slated to return to work on April 21 - though I'll be on vacation at that time anyway.

The doctor says the diabetes is keeping me from healing quicker but the problem is also that at the end of this month, my benefits with Target run out and I have to go on the "affordable" government benef... The doctor said I was doing everything right - he even liked the fact that I type a little bit as it exercises the hands - and that my hands and arms are healing nicely but he is giving me another two week's leave to ensure I am completely healed. Since dog bites aren't sutured, the wounds have to remain open and handling people's food like that wouldn't be allowed.
