One of my goals is to be able to walk into a store and buy clothes. Yesterday I went shopping for workout clothes. Mens medium fit in this one brand but women's XL didn't fit. I tried on a lot of stuff that really didn't fit. It was pretty frustrating. I'll always have a problem because I'm tall but I would LOVE to see some cute clothes and at least be able to put them on even if they aren't long enough. I'd love to be able to go into Victoria's ... Fri, 15 Sep 2006 11:19:23 EST Another run http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=251866 I got a run in this morning. I just don't know what to do about my speed. I went a wee bit further than usual. 5 min walk warmup - 10 min run - 2 min walk - 10 min run - 5 min walk - 5 min run - walk to finish. Thats 3 miles in about 40 min still. I must run really slow? I'd love to be able to go to sparkpeople and say I did a 12 min/mile jog (which I believe is the lowest catagory before you have to say you walk) that would be 36 min and I can't see cutting those 4 min off now. Ah wel... Mon, 28 Aug 2006 17:58:23 EST Week 5 Run 2 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=237195 Week 5 Run 2 - 6:45pm 8/9/06 - about 2.5 40 min
I didn't get my run in this morning beacuse the kids were up a lot at night and it was raining when I finally did make it out of bed. I managed to get out after DH got home from work though. My kneed doesn't hurt when I run, only after. I'm a little concerned that I should stop running but I keep thinking another 5 weeks won't do that much damage. I'd hate to not get my race in. I think after my race I'll have to switch to bike riding ... Thu, 10 Aug 2006 11:22:52 EST Week 5 Run 1 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=234499 Week 5 Run 1 - 6:20 am 8/7/06 - 3 mi -45 min
Run 5 min - Walk 3 min - Run 5 min - Walk 3 min - Run 5 min
I'm having fun seeing how much further I am actually going when I run more. I cover the same 3 miles but the amount of walking at the end varries by how far I've gone. I think I could be happy if I did my 5k 5 min running and 3 min walking for the whole race, but I'm excited to keep going. My knees are feeling the worse for the wear even in my 5 week old shoes. I see the doctor t... Mon, 7 Aug 2006 15:48:58 EST Week 4 Run 3 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=232526 Week 4 Run 3 - 8:40 pm 8/4/06 approx. 2.5 miles 35 min
Run 3 min - walk 90 sec - Run 5 min - walk 2.5 min x 2
Well I whimped out on running as soon as I woke up this morning. I just figured I'd do it tomorrow or something. But when the kids got down a little earlier than usual I decided to do the run tonight. Fueling up with pizza might not be the best for me! LOL! It felt much different than my normal empty stomach first thing in the morning run. I also brought along my MP3 pl... It still kicks my butt. I'm going to see how the third run goes and then decide if I'm going to repeat this week. I did manage to complete all the running time unlike the first day. I tweaked my knee again last night doing lunges but it didn't bother me too much on the run. I'm going to have to remember to ask the dr if she can ch... I think I covered 1/2 again the distance that I normally do. I did it all but the last 30 seconds of that last jogging section. I think I'll be able to finish it all next time. I'm still feeling pretty good about the training program. Its nice to have this going well even if my we... Mon, 31 Jul 2006 12:57:30 EST Week 3 Run 3 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=226689 Week 3 Run 3 - 6:30 am 7/29/06 - 45 min 3 miles
run 90 sec - walk 90 sec - run 3 min - walk 3 min X2
I wanted to go the whole 3 miles so I didn't turn around when I normally do. I figured I was going faster than 15 min/miles but I guess not. No problem, my aim is to get more running in and follow the plan not to necessarily run faster. Felt pretty good about the running. Ready for week 4 to start Monday! Sat, 29 Jul 2006 22:22:54 EST Week 3 Day 2 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=224444 Week 3 Day 2 - 6:40 am 7/27/06 - 2+ mi - 28 min
90 sec run 90 sec walk 3 min run 3 min walk x2
Yay Me! I went slightly further in slightly less time! Since most of this is timed the only way I can cut the time is durring the 5 min warm up and cool down, but I can definitely increase the distance durring the timed part. Its easier to push the second run of the week since I know what its really going to be like. My shin splints are gone thank goodness! I was puffing quite a bit a... Thu, 27 Jul 2006 10:26:44 EST Week 3 Run 1 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=222693 Week 3 Run 1 - 7am 7/25/06 - under 2 miles 28 min
90 sec run 90 sec walk 3 min run 3 min walk X2
This wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. I didn't go as far as I did last week. I'm not sure if I should be covering more distance. I am feeling good and stronger. I had planned my schedule to be MWF but seems like M always slips. Maybe I'll try and go again tomorrow morning and get back on track. Tue, 25 Jul 2006 14:06:13 EST Week 2 Run 3 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=220026 Week 2 Run 3 - 7 am 7/22/06 - 2.15 mi 29 min
Well, I was cocky about the weather here and I got what I deserved. It never really cooled off last night like it usually seems to here. This morning the house was 75 and humid. I also had a handful of excuses. I had not laid out my clothes to go run. I slept poorly last night. I had taken my contacts out and didn't know what it would be like to run with glasses. BUT I knew I needed to get this done and if I waited for tonight it would b... Sat, 22 Jul 2006 10:45:08 EST Week 2 Run 2 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=218398 Week 2 Run 2 - 7/20/06 6:30 am - about 2 miles 30 min
90 sec run - 2 min walk for 20 min
Well to say that I'm winded after the runs is an understatement I think. I actually thought, "If I was running with someone I would be embarassed how bad I'm huffing and puffing!" But I'm getting through the runs. I haven't really needed to quit any of them early. I'm thinking thats what is going to be good for me about this training program, the slow increase. Now 2 people have said week 3... Thu, 20 Jul 2006 11:35:37 EST Week 2 Run 1 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=216376 Week 2 Run 1 - 7/18/06 6:45 am 32 min
Well 90 sec of running is harder than 60 sec! I completed the sequence (90 sec running 2 min of walking.) I took 2min 30 of walking somewhere in the middle because of a hill I did not want to run up. (I know big wimp!) I was huffing and puffing good after my second to last run and I squeezed in the very last one. I'm getting shin pain in one leg when I'm walking. I don't notice it when I'm running. I was happy that I figured out my run so I can... Tue, 18 Jul 2006 11:36:34 EST Week 1 Run 3 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=216365 Week 1 Day 3 - 6:40 am 7/14/06 just over 2 miles 37 min
Well today almost kicked me! It was tough. I was really panting at the end. I shortened my over all distance (turned around earlier.) I think next week when I don't have more people helping to watch the kids I'll be able to shorten it so overall I'm only out of the house 30 min in the morning. I figure I'm not doing this for exercise I'm doing it to run longer. I can get other exercise. Also I need to not leave too early and g... Tue, 18 Jul 2006 11:30:17 EST Brush with death http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=212489 I forgot to say, I think I almost died yesterday. We were going fast down a country road (me driving, MIL in passenger and girls in the back) the car 2 cars ahead stops to turn left and the car in front of me stops. Well, I don't know if that happened really quick or if I just wasn't paying enough attention. I slammed on the breaks but my stopping zone would have been somewhere in the middle of the car in front of me. I swerved to the left (I have no idea why my jerk reaction wasn't to g... When I woke up this morning before everyone else (at 6:40) I figured 3 adults could take care of 2 kids and grabed the opportunity! It felt different to be running with no food in my system though. I didn't have the same energy. It was harder for me to do my basic +90 seconds calculations. Maybe it was just that it was my second run? I found a flatter route that I w... Wed, 12 Jul 2006 11:18:24 EST Week 1 Run 1 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=210056 Week 1 Run 1 7/10/06 8:45pm 2.86 mi total (includes aditional walking at the end to get home!)
It seemed to go well. I think I did one more minute of runing than I should have - I believe I should have ended with a walk. That last run was definitely the hardest. Because I went on the road I didn't hit all my times exactly. My 5 min warm up brings me to the top of the first hill in the neighborhood. From there it is level for a while then another hill which I spent more than 90 seco... Tue, 11 Jul 2006 01:00:58 EST Baggage http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=144563 It just seems like I've been struggling with my weight for a long time. I remember my Mom talking to my pediatrician about me beign overweight and what was she going to do about it. I remember her taking me to my first WW meeting... maybe in Jr. High... But the thing is I look back at my high school pictures and I look amazingly thin. My parents also eat very small portions of very rich foods. It works well for them but when I headed out into the world those portions just kept growing. ... Sat, 8 Apr 2006 13:31:28 EST
