JPGRAMMA's SparkPeople Blog JPGRAMMA's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community Hello again! What a busy summer this has been. July went by in a flash. Spent some great time with my grandchildren. Shawn and Isabel (the youngest) came home for a few days for a visit. We spent many hot & humid hours at local water parks. Then they went from here to Maine (5 hrs. away) to pick up the other 2 grandkids who had spent two weeks at a sleep away camp. From there it was another 4 hours home to Boston. I went along to keep Shawn company and to drive if needed. It was a very long travel day. I ... Fri, 9 Aug 2013 21:07:44 EST Body Sculpt Class Well, I just returned from my third class and I feel like I've been run over by a Mack truck!!! 24 There isn't a muscle in my body that doesn't hurt! I didn't know you could lift weights with your face!! That's right even my facial muscles hurt from the strain. It's not the amount of weight I'm lifting that's getting to me, it's the reps. This is brutal, but I will admit I like it!! (Isn't there a name for this self torture!)

I don't feel all that bad though because I... Thu, 11 Jul 2013 11:50:11 EST July 1, 2013 I can't believe how quickly the days are gong by. The last two months have been a struggle with getting healthier. My motivation has all but disappeared and the scale inched up a few pounds. But I've decided enough of this pity party--it's time to get back to work. Today day is the re-start. I will not give up on myself. I know there are others out there who have travelled down this road and have been successful. Losing weight should not have to be this difficult, especially when you when you... Mon, 1 Jul 2013 08:28:20 EST I'm Still Here! Haven't been around for a while because it's a busy time of year. Spring finally arrived and now there's LOTS of yard and garden work to do. My flower gardens are coming along beautifully and it's exciting to see how much the perennials have grown from day to day. The vegetable garden is tilled and ready for fertilizer and planting. Hope to get potatoes & green beans in today and then start with tomatoes, peppers, cukes, and maybe broccoli next week. It's supposed to rain all day tomorrow whi... Fri, 10 May 2013 08:58:12 EST Past few days have been difficult Received word recently from my daughter that one of the teachers at my grandchildren's school passed away suddenly last Friday. He was 45 years old and left behind a wife and two small daughters. He was currently my grandson's teacher and also had his older sister as a student. My youngest granddaughter was looking forward to having him next year as her teacher. This is a small Montessori school and everyone is like family, so the whole school community is suffering at this loss. I had met a... Thu, 18 Apr 2013 10:16:15 EST Spreading the Spark This week I have told two people about this great program. One is a friend I got reacquainted with at the gym and the other was the owner of the yarn shop I go to. While I was there last night I discovered another gal there for social knit had just joined and I recommended she check out the NYTeam. Then my sister told me her son-in-law is also here on Spark. What a small world! 252 Fri, 5 Apr 2013 10:43:29 EST Rewards I just finished reading today's blog about how to use rewards for your accomplished goals and it made a lot of sense. I encourage everyone to read it. I like the idea of the money jars and I am willing to try that, but I think I will start small with fifty cents a day. My goal each day will be to take my vitamins and supplements every day for a week and if I'm successful I'll extend it week by week. I'm not really good at this and it's an area of my life I want to change. I've used this goal... Thu, 4 Apr 2013 12:00:22 EST Motivation Well here I am another week in and have hit my first motivation plateau. I have not tracked my food since Friday. But I decided this morning that this is not acceptable to me so I got back on "track" today. I want to be successful and I know that these little hiccups are no reason to give up.

I have found one little bright spot though, and that is I am at least aware of what I am eating and know generally how much I have eaten whether healthy or not so healthy.

Tryin... Tue, 2 Apr 2013 11:35:16 EST Week 7 I'm still motivated to reach my goal. Down 8.5 lbs so it's in range for healthy weight loss. I will admit I would have liked it to be more but I'm still pleased. More important is that I can see a change in how some of my clothes fit. I actually look forward to going to the gym now. I feel so much better both physically and mentally.

My short term goal is to lose another 8-10 lbs by June 7th. That's the date my oldest granddaughter graduates from middle school and I would like... Mon, 25 Mar 2013 11:53:56 EST Weigh In Not too pleased with the scale this morning. I didn't lose anything. On a positive note, I didn't gain anything either. I stayed within my calorie range and exercised consistently. I think maybe I did not eat enough for the amount of exercising I did. That's a scary thought for me and I have to break through that wall. Intellectually I know that you have to keep the furnace fueled to keep your metabolism rate up, but I'm not hard wired to eat more while trying to lose weight. I am determined ... Sat, 16 Mar 2013 07:46:24 EST Check This Out This may sound odd, but today I noticed that my sneakers feel looser! Must be loosing weight in my FEET LOL!! Wed, 13 Mar 2013 14:13:36 EST I AM SO VERY THANKFUL I am so thankful for all of God's blessings and grace He has given me. Most grateful for bringing my husband and me together because he is the one who brought me back to God. We just wanted to find a church we could attend and a pastor who would enlighten us. I was raised Catholic and he Southern Baptist. God led us to our current church and I was born again last August. I am a new person thanks to living in God's word. Tue, 12 Mar 2013 11:48:06 EST March 8, 2013 Back from Boston just in time. They are having another storm today, but not as bad as the last one. My daughter is recovering nicely and I'm getting back to my daily schedule. I realized how much I missed it while away. The journey continues slowly, but I'm still motivated to keep going. Fri, 8 Mar 2013 09:06:59 EST Tuesday 2//12/13 Just found out my daughter broke ribs sledding with the kids. Taking a flight out to Boston tomorrow to help her while she recuperates. Plan to be careful and stay on track but don't expect to get much exercise. Wish me luck! 253 for now. Tue, 12 Feb 2013 15:14:37 EST Tomorrow's Meal Plan Looked thru some SP recipes this am and saw a chicken casserole I'll try. Already have the chicken parboiled. Sounds yummy.
