Tue, 13 Mar 2012 23:00:16 EST Butt Blasting workout http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4784729 I used to do Coach Nicole's Butt Blasting workout everyday. It's 6 minutes long so it's easy to fit in at any time of the day. It's been over a year since the last time I did it and I just did it again tonight. Yikes! My bum hurts! Obviously my butt needs some work done. I'm going to make a streak of doing this workout every day.

www.sparkpeople.com/resource/fitness
_articles.asp?id=727
Mon, 12 Mar 2012 23:38:02 EST Steak of the Month club http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4779125 Just signed up. Normally the steak of the month is delivered on the first Wednesday of the month but because they deliver every week, we're going to be starting for March and they will deliver it next Wednesday.

I'm excited. We've gotten meat from this place before and it's been tasty so I know it will be good. Three guesses as to what kind of driver he was and the first two don't count. For all his efforts and weaving in and out of traffic, he still only ended up about three vehicles in front of us (after starting out directly in front of us) going over the one lane bridge. And I'm going to keep on with Zumba and I convinced a coworker to try it out with me.

So those are the exercise classes but I'm also going to sign up for a beginner's Pottery class. Thu, 9 Feb 2012 21:04:28 EST Yoga class http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4728587 My instructor pointed out last night that next week's class will fall on Valentine's Day. I think the chances of Mark coming to yoga class with me are slim to none. But I'll still go. We'll have gone out for dinner (to nice restaurants) three times since the beginning of Feb so that's not something we would have done anyway. We'll just move our nice dinner to the 13th or 15th.

There were only three people in class last night, it was strange that there were so few but also nice. We... Wed, 8 Feb 2012 09:41:37 EST Cancelled reservations and opera http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4727307 The original plan for this week included going out for dinner on Wednesday night. Well, I got an email from Manitoba Opera reminding all the subscribers that the libretto was Feb 7 or 8 (depending on which tickets you got) and that it was at a church not the concert hall. I didn't record this at all. It's not on any of our calendars, it's not in my phone (which is the main place I store info like that), it's not anywhere but on the tickets clipped to the fridge.

So of course the t... Dine About is a sort of food festival done but a food magazine in the city. They round up a bunch of restaurants who will participate and then the restaurants offer a three course menu (usually with a few choices per course) for a fixed price. It is a good deal on pricing for the diner and the restaurant entices customers who might not have ever been to their restaurant before who will hopefully become new regular diners.

Mark an... Fri, 3 Feb 2012 10:44:15 EST It's a dirty job but someone has to do it http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4701048 Just finished the annual document purge at work. We have to keep a lot of documents for the gov't for at least 7 years. So every year, a couple of use take the morning and put everything that's over 7 years into gigantic boxes for our shredder people to take away. It's a dirty, dusty job because once the paper gets filed away back there, no one touches it until it is time to get purged.

On the plus side, it's a good upper body and core workout, lifting out all these reams of paper... Tue, 24 Jan 2012 12:08:58 EST Zumba class #2 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4693536 It was much harder this time. There was no stopping to show us the choreography until 4-5 songs had passed. I do not have the stamina for that. Even with a couple of breaks to show us some new songs, I only had about 50% to give to the last two songs.

And next week we probably won't stop at all!

But it's a good time. I was surprised at how much I remembered of the steps. Wed, 18 Jan 2012 14:08:44 EST Limitations of Layers http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4687808 It's super frigid here in Winnipeg. And I had yoga class tonight. Tue, 17 Jan 2012 21:17:49 EST Zumba http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4678067 First Zumba class last night. Well, first Zumba on land class last night (I took a water Zumba class about a year ago).

This was probably the first time I've ever taken a purely aerobic class before. Zumba in the water is slower because of the water resistance so there is more of an element of strength to it.

Everyone in the class was pretty much newbies. I think it went well. There was one song that was very high energy and seemed to last forever. Also, because it was... Fri, 13 Jan 2012 10:43:18 EST First big hurdle of the new year VANQUISHED! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4673622 Our computer died. Well, it would start up and load Windows and then as soon as everything was finished loading, it would blink some computer gibberish and restart itself. This happened on Friday night. So no computer all weekend long, no tracking available. EEK!

I wrote down EVERYTHING that I would track here on Sparkpeople. All the food I ate, all the exercise I did, the weigh-in and measurement taking that I did on Sunday.

Hurdle conquered. That could have very easily... Wed, 11 Jan 2012 11:14:05 EST New Year New Start http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4654448 So it's completely cliche but it's what I'm doing. The past holiday season was a complete fail both in terms of keeping on track AND in doing anything about it. Time to crackdown.

I have a couple tricks up my sleeve though. I have a two hour weights and water class scheduled for Sunday mornings, a 1 hour yoga class for Tuesday evenings and a 1 hour Zumba class for Thursday evenings. So at least I'll be forced into being active (I'm stingy, if I'm paying for it, I'll show up). <BR... Tue, 3 Jan 2012 14:43:29 EST Uncle Ben's Rice and Sauce Review http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4430678 I kept seeing commercials about these and it seemed like a good idea so when we went grocery shopping, I took a look. 390-410 calories, pronounceable ingredients, sodium not too bad. Okay, we'll try them out.

I've tried the Sweet & Sour flavour and the Indian Curry flavour. Both were tasty. It literally does take just 1.5 to 2 minutes in your microwave and it's done. It was a satisfying lunch meal portion size for me.

The only issue is the cost. Where I live, it cost us... Tue, 16 Aug 2011 14:27:52 EST I'm back......again http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4424416 I was all gung-ho in March and that totally fell flat.

But this week I've been getting back into it. And I finally have time at work to check Sparkpeople again so that will really help. And then today I weighed myself on the Wii and then I went back to August of 2010 and found out that in the past year, I've gained 15 pounds. So that's definitely a wake up call of another kind. I just never really found my mojo after we went on holidays last fall and it's showing, on my belly and ... Sat, 13 Aug 2011 10:56:20 EST I'm back http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4078432 And for Lent I'm giving up NOT exercising. :D

I've been lazy. It's on me 100%. There has been time, oodles of time, and I just haven't exercised. Instead I bake. And then eat the baking. It's not a good combination, over-eating and not exercising.

But I'm getting frustrated with myself so no more. Not necessarily no more baking because I enjoy making yummy things for my family and friends and coworkers but I'm going to exercise and not eat so much of the yummy-ness. Goodbye twenties.

Last night Mark and I were talking about my birthday and I asked if I could still be the trophy girlfriend if I'm not in my twenties. He's 15 years older than me so yesterday he could say he was in his forties and I was in my twenties. It doesn't sound like such a huge gap when you say he's in his forties and I'm in my thirties. He said I was absolutely still a trophy girlfriend and the #1 prize winner at that.
<B... Fri, 26 Nov 2010 10:30:03 EST Crazy times http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3805227 Life has been very hectic recently.

We've gotten two big dumps of snow here in the past week. This makes getting anywhere take longer so we're more selective about going out.

And at work today is the first day all week that I'll be having a normal day. I'm training to set up the company intranet and at the same time clean up all the documents used by everyone so they can go on the intranet AND so we can get tear off books of these documents made up. I was actually hoping... Thu, 25 Nov 2010 09:57:07 EST Opera tickets http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3775802 We bought season tickets to the Opera and they just arrived today! I say season tickets but they only put on two shows a year. We sit in the cheap second balcony seats but really, there are no bad seats in the concert hall for sound and so what if we can't see all the details on the costumes. I love going to the Opera. Last time we sat near a Mountie in full dress uniform!

I also made a hair appointment for the day of the first show. My hair is driving me crazy, it should have been... Wed, 10 Nov 2010 17:49:15 EST Restart http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3769769 Okay, so that last blog I was totally going to restart Wii: My Fitness Coach that night. That didn't happen. At all. In any sortof form. Mark asked if I wanted to play a game and in full consciousness that I wouldn't have time to exercise after it, I said yes. I owned the choice but I still didn't make the healthy one. And that has been happening a lot lately.

But today I'm really in a rebooting sortof mood. Instead of sleeping in, I got up this morning when Mark did and exercised... Mon, 8 Nov 2010 10:06:08 EST Yikes! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3759872 It's been quite a while since I last blogged. Well. I was on vacation to my sister's wedding in late September and then I had 6 days to catch up on all my work and then I was off to a friend's wedding in mid-October. The first week I was back was really hectic but since then I've just been slacking.

Slacking in more ways than one too. I haven't been tracking food or exercise. Or even really trying to modify. I've broken a lot of bad habits and we don't buy snack food so that's been... Even though the drive there was long, with the snacks and my insistence on drinking all eight cups of water during the day I was doing fine by the end of it.

I used the hotel gym exactly once. I've discovered I'm not a gym person. There were two ellipticals, four treadmills, one recumbent bike, one regular stationery bike, some free weights, a ball, and a cable weight machine. All in a fairly small tight area. There was b... And then we'll be getting up even EARLIER than we do to go to work so we can leave. My sister's wedding in this Saturday in Calgary. We'll be driving from Winnipeg in one shot. It's going to be a long day but I've been planning for grazing type foods and I printed out the entire nutritional information for Tim Horton's and Subway so I think we'll be okay. I'm pretty much guaranteed to go over on sodium but I just accept that a... Mon, 20 Sep 2010 15:38:32 EST Parkinson Superwalk and pumpkin cake http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3634551 The walk went really well. Mark and I had a good time and the Winnipeg walk raised over $95,000! Awesome!

As a thank you to everyone at work who donated, I made carrot pumpkin bars. Which is really more like a cake that you cut into small pieces than a bar. So tasty though. I would eat the whole thing myself if I would let myself. And it's SO healthy right, it's got carrots and pumpkin. And a lot of sugar and cream cheese and butter... So maybe not healthy but really tasty! :D <BR... Fri, 10 Sep 2010 17:59:14 EST Sparking my mom http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3622289 Everytime I talk to my parents, I always mention what I am doing lately for exercise, whether it's a new Wii game or a new class I'm taking or a new exercise DVD I tried out. My mom has been walking around the lake near where they live over the summer and has been thinking about the winter weather. The last time I talked with her, she asked if I had any exercise DVDs that I would lend to her! She wants something to do to keep active over winter. So I'm going to give her the two Coach Nicole S... Thu, 9 Sep 2010 14:19:38 EST Packing and purging http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3614901 This weekend Mark and I spent Monday at Mark's dad's place. He's moving into a smaller apartment in the same building. It's been about a year and a half since Mark's mom died. We spent 3 hours packing up the china cabinet. And tried, with very poor results, to get his dad to purge some of the items. Mark's mom liked to collect things. A lot of things. And one of these collections was apparently china cups and saucers. There was a full set of china (plates big and small, bowls, cups, saucers) ... But then it's finished. So then the weekend after that maybe I'll do the bedroom 20 It's the same color so it's just a matter of patching a big hole and then painting one coat to freshen things up.

I've gotten a lot of donations in for the Parkinson Sup... I've really been sucking at the whole consistency thing.

But since I realized it was the 20th and if I was going to finish in 30 days, I would be on level 3. So I decided to do it. Oh Reitmans, I shouldn't go anywhere near you when I'm in the mood to shop.

Today is also the start of Folklorama... Sun, 1 Aug 2010 09:58:06 EST Folklorama http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3486476 Folklorama starts this weekend.

It's a festival celebrating the different cultures that live in Winnipeg. So each culture has a pavilion and they offer ethnic food for sale and put on a show displaying their culture's traditional dances and songs. It's a really fun time but there is no possible way to track it and of course you want to try some of everything so you end up eating a lot. I think the next two weeks are going to be filled with a lot ... Fri, 30 Jul 2010 17:57:29 EST
