We've walked a couple of times at the park, but decided to time a mile yesterday. It took us 23 minutes and 18 seconds to walk the mile - and I hurt afterwards!

**As some background - I was on bedrest a month prior to my birth for pre-term labor and pre-eclampsia - 2 of those weeks were in the hospital. I then had a c-section on 5/23.

I have never felt so out of shape, ever... Mon, 28 Jul 2014 12:23:08 EST Back Again... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5745485 My last blog post was in October of 2013 - Announcing my pregnancy. Although I had hopes of being super healthy during the pregnancy, I gave up pretty quickly on SparkPeople.

My baby girl arrived on 5/23 after a month of bed rest and a 2 week hospital stay. Everyone is doing great, and our expanded family is now adjusting :)

Now: I have 70 lbs to lose!! I have never been this big - and I am ready to do something about it :)

First Steps: Start tracking my food ... Thu, 24 Jul 2014 07:52:23 EST Change in Plans http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5509984 Well, it turns out my weight loss goals will need to change. My husband and I found out earlier this week that we are expecting our 2nd child (our son is 4 years old).

So - I have now been nicotine and caffiene free for almost a week (and feel like crud)... now time to get focused again on eating healthy and exercising (I've been trying to do 10-20 minutes of cardio-boxing/latin dancing in the morning, and a mile or so walk at lunch). However, in the last week of the new news, fee... Thu, 10 Oct 2013 15:39:15 EST Still Going... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5503448 I'm about a month in now of "being healthier" -- I've definetly not perfected anything yet. I exercise most days (not all), and am mostly trying to watch what I eat and track (there are still some days here and there where I don't do either). I've determined my scale was not accurate (my husband tested it, weighed himself five times and got four different readyings) - so I bought a non-digital scale. LOL, the problem is - until I lose at least 5 lbs, I can't really tell whether I've lost any ... Thu, 3 Oct 2013 12:01:48 EST Entering Week 3 of my "Small" Streak... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5487174 I just completed 2 weeks of my "streak" of healthier living. This has meant way less junk food (although I've splurged a bit), and exercising 20+ minutes almost every day - and getting a decent amount of sleep - and Water!

I actually gained a pound after my first week, but tomorrow is my weigh-in after completing week 2, and am hopeful for some number results going in the right direction.

Either way... I'm feeling motivated, and better about myself already for being abl... Mon, 16 Sep 2013 11:28:32 EST A Small Streak http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5477674 For several weeks now, I've been off and on SP, and trying to make some better changes to my lifestyle. I think this week was when it finally "clicked" a bit for me.

All week long I've drank between 64-96 oz. water per day.
All week long - I've had NO fast food, and no "junk" (Sweets, etc.)

Tuesday - 35 min. Fri, 6 Sep 2013 10:48:52 EST 2 Days without Fast Food http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5438564 It's been nearly 48 hours since I've had any fast food (after a weekend filled with pizza/chinese takeout/Wendy's burgers)... I've also fit in quite a few fruits/veggies within the past 48 hours. It's amazing, I already feel so much better - not so weighed down. I think I'll keep it going... :) Tue, 30 Jul 2013 12:07:56 EST Today...So far, so good... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5437331 No exercise this morning, I overslept (may need to re-think my work-out times and/or my bedtimes!)

However, I am on track to get all of my water in and I've tracked my food today as well. SO, that's a start. Exercise wasn't the biggest goal for myself this week, it was to add food tracking into the 8 glasses of water+ a day.

Mon, 29 Jul 2013 12:14:47 EST Water http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5434264 Well, I haven't done as well as I would have liked with tracking food/exercising this week (OK, I didn't do it at all)... BUT, I have managed to drink a minimum of 64 oz. of water EVERY DAY this week so far!! One habit down - on to the next!!

Next week's goal - Water AND tracking food! Fri, 26 Jul 2013 12:42:50 EST My Wake-up Call http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5426408 I weighed myself for the first time in quite awhile last night. I was amazed at the amount of weight I've put on in just months - I didn't realize I was so out of control! Time to start putting myself - my health, as a priority!

I think my issue is that I tend to be an all or nothing person, and it's hard to shake out of that. I am going to aim to spend some more time on here, especially over the next week to "reacquaint myself", and learn to take things decision by decision, rath... Fri, 19 Jul 2013 12:05:54 EST Need some Inspiration/Motivation...Something!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5384821 Hi everyone. It's been a long while since I've been on here. I don't know why, I just can't seem to get myself in gear with taking care of myself or attacking my weight issues :(

From last Aug-beginning of November I was on here all the time, tracking my food most every day, and consistently exercising. Since then - nothing.

Anyone have some good tips on how to get myself moving again - I just seem to be in a funk and dragging and I don't know how to get myself out of it... Mon, 10 Jun 2013 16:53:10 EST A new pattern... hopefully! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5238914 FINALLY... after two weeks of SWEARING I am going to exercise in the mornings, I finally got my butt out of bed Monday morning and hopped on the treadmill. Yay!!! Not only that, but I walked last night as well - for a total of 2.5 miles. This morning I did a mile, and plan to do another mile or so tonight. I think I've finally broken out of the laziness curse and am getting some motivation back. I've also tracked all of my food this week so far as well - who hoo!!

Now... just got ... Tue, 5 Feb 2013 15:02:09 EST Trying to get it back http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5213302 Well, I've been off SP for awhile, and just now beginning to get on here and there again. It's been a long while since I've consistently tracked my food, and even longer since I've worked out... at all!

So, I've started trying to get things back to where I had them a few months ago. I've finally made it almost a whole week with making reasonably healthy eating choices (no fast food), and have been getting my water in.

Next steps:

1. Begin to track everything... Fri, 18 Jan 2013 16:16:18 EST I quit smoking... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5132453 And I am absolutely miserable. I am wearing a patch so I know logically that I am getting some nictotine in my system, but fighting with myself to not actually smoke is difficult. I know I CAN do this, but not 100% sure I WANT to keep trying. I ask myself... is a few extra years of life worth the misery I'm feeling now? I'm not sure?? Ugh... I'm a monster to be around, and I haven't done a bit of work since I've gotten in this morning because my brain is so scattered. Yesterday was my first ... Mon, 12 Nov 2012 09:06:14 EST Wishy-Washy http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5126997 So, I find my motivation sometimes good and sometimes lacking. I just can't get it to seem to "click" into place like it was before - where I felt more committed. Not sure what changed - but I need to get it back. I've gained 5 lbs over the past 2 weeks simply from not watching what I eat and not exercising enough.

Ugh!! Frustrated with myself. It took me much longer than 2 weeks to lose those 5 lbs to begin with!

Next week (or maybe this weekend) I am going to re-star... Wed, 7 Nov 2012 08:26:10 EST Ouch! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5113388 So yesterday was my first time exercising in 2 weeks or so. I did 20 minutes of Zumba on the wii. One of the songs is pretty much entirely comprised of squats... I had every intention of doing a bit more exercise this morning, however, when I hobbled out of bed and discovered I could barely move my thighs I decided to take some advil and wait until tonight instead...

It's amazing how much pain I feel after not doing anything for only a couple of weeks. Yikes! Fri, 26 Oct 2012 08:40:37 EST I think I'm Back... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5112174 Between over-sleeping, laziness, and a horrible sinus infection I've been on a 2-weekish hiatus. I've been logging on, but my food tracking has been iffy, I haven't been posting on the boards, or blogging.

I'm finally starting to feel better, and this morning managed to get my butt out of bed and do zuma this morning - my first workout in awhile! I only did 20 minutes because I was afraid if I tried the 45 my body wouldn't be used to it and I'd be in pain ;)

So anyway, ... I could have, but I chose to sit in front of the TV instead. To compound that, I stayed up late with my husband (eating chocolate and ice cream, no less) so was too tired to get up early this morning to work out.

It's now been about a week since I've done ANY exercise (ugh!), and more than that since I've ran with the 5K training program.

I am in a major funk and am a ... I didn't end up doing the wii fit, and I didn't track my food. I DID get in most of my water yesterday though, but not all of it.

I was going to exercise this morning, but my son (3 years old) didn't want to go to sleep last night until almost 2AM, so when 4AM rolled around I just couldn't make myself do it. I'm hoping to jump on the wii fit for a bit this evening after my son goes to bed. Have already started to get my water in for the day, so already some improvement over yesterday. As a result, when I woke up this morning to exercise my mouth and head were throbbing. I decided to take a rest day (morning) and took some advil and went back to bed.

I didn't exercise last night as I got home pretty late from dinner and my mouth/head was already hurting. I'm happy to say the 20 minute sessions are getting to be pretty easy (well, easier) for me! I had to argue with myself to do it (I so wanted to stay in bed), but I did it.

Feeling lots of stress @ work lately with a weekend of trying to fit in some work after my son goes to bed... I'm hoping I can keep a positive attitude and be sure to also make time for some adequate sleep... I chose to wake up this morning and do 45 minutes of wii zumba (mid-length segment)... Wasn't sure if I was going to be able to hang in for all of it, but I DID!! :) Feeling some muscle tightness now, but overall not too bad! Will try for some wii yoga this evening and then on to "Week 2" of my training program tomorrow! (Walk 3 minutes / Jog 2 minutes * 5). Have a brand new pair of running shoes and a new interval training app on my phone that should hopefully help me o... I am pleasantly suprised that this time seemed to be just a TINY bit easier than the past two attempts have been. A day of "rest" tomorrow, and then on two walk 3 minutes / jog 2 minutes routine... yikes! Tue, 11 Sep 2012 12:39:40 EST 5K Training: Week 1 / Day 5 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5052189 Rest / Cross-Train Day: I woke up @ 4AM this morning and did a 20 minute class of wii Zumba. I had to talk myself into it, but I did it. If I'm ambitious enough I will do some yoga this evening.

On another note, I had my weigh-in this morning (weekly). I gained .2 lbs, but my body fat % went down by a little over 1/2% point. (I guess that's OK?) I have been on the high side, or even a little over my calorie range most days though; I am going to try and rein that in a bit for this ... Unfortunately, it was just as hard as the first time! I find when I do the jogging portion my shins hurt really bad! My husband thinks I may need to run on my toes a bit more, not on the flats... so I will try that next time around. Also, my shoes are a bit old and worn, so I think a new pair would probably help me out. I was going to wait until I hit 170 lbs. to get a new pair of shows. We'll have to see h... Sun, 9 Sep 2012 11:51:23 EST Chapter 8 - Week 3 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5048328 I have finished Chapter 8 of "The Spark", and am in week 3 of the program. This week is all about staying motivated and keeping with the program. The book talks a lot of about motivation in this chapter and gives plenty of ways to keep motivated, or to get your motivation back. I have generally aiming to be more positive in life, as much as I can, and to try and stop all of my negative self-talk (which can be hard)! I also am on SP every day... I track all of my food and fitness and try to bo... Fri, 7 Sep 2012 10:02:58 EST
