I don't know how much time I actually manged to be home, but it wasn't a lot at all:( Finally, just when I thought I was doing ok again, in December I went in for the removal of a small. non-cancerous mass that was blocking one ureter - and internal mayhem ensued, worse than before. Because my system got so drained by all the previous stuff, I developed two fistulas and they tried a wound VAC on the bigger one which en... Tue, 10 Feb 2015 17:34:18 EST kaboom? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5722682 So I started taking the bus more to get out of the house and walk in other parts of town. Previously, I'd basically done yoga. Tons and tons of yoga. Walked every so often, not consistently. But then I figure: "oh, I'm walking more so I'll be more fit, etc..." and then I check the scale and find I gained 5lbs in a week of that!

So I looked it up: http://www.sparkpeople.com/blog/blog.asp?p
ost=why_the_scale_goes_up_when_you_sta
rt_a_new_workout_plan

Sigh. Sat, 21 Jun 2014 10:18:21 EST from my wordpress blog, about - marketing http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5657835 It's unnerving publicizing and marketing myself, but there we are, it needs to be done, which is stuff I'm writing about here:

http://jahowe.com/2014/03/26/more-on-mar
keting-networking-and-nerves/ Thu, 27 Mar 2014 12:51:49 EST balance - I really need some just now http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5653968 And it's spring, my least favorite season because it's so UN-balanced. Sigh. Exercise feels waaaay off this week; I barely got any last week, and this week I kind of accidentally did OVER the suggested amount (and felt it, to some extent). I'm programming a lot, but my mental energy seems to go "ok you can program 3hrs at most, then probably just lolling in front of the tv or gaming". Yeah, it's off. Not the "do 6 things per day at most" energy I had last month! I dunno what's up.
... Sat, 22 Mar 2014 14:34:41 EST good things to remember http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5637799 I wanted to remind myself that yes, yoga's good for me. It doesn't show up as "great" if I just go by the fitness tracker because that tends to just focus on "calories burned". But I've practiced it since I was 16, and I do forget sometimes how much it's helped me with strength and flexibility, as well as the mental part of it keeping me at least semi-calm:) (well, at least some of the time).

...and, yeah, in the long run, it's better for me - or anyone - to not focus totally ... Sun, 2 Mar 2014 15:31:15 EST off to the races http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5518095 My husband and I are both gamers, but we do it in very different ways, which is sometimes good and sometimes v ery frustrating. Like now; I have a character in Terraria who is in hardmode, and in need of new equipment. Hubby is helping me get the supplies... but sometimes, I just don't get areas, or tactics - I have a lot of problems with critical thinking. And here I am crying inside because of all things I can run around in my hardmode world with my character, and get much less frustrate... Sat, 19 Oct 2013 22:37:41 EST a whole new person http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5516145 Stress - of late, a stressful week. My doctor's had me lower the dosage of one of my meds, Neurontin, and lowering it is giving me baaaad insomnia. I'm prone to sleep problems anyway, you see. The weather's been all over the place too, from rainy to very sunny the next day - and big weather changes mess me up a bit too. We also took the cat to the vet earlier in the week; that was somewhat stressful, making sure he was ok going and all, and then we find out that the poor guy has lost weig... Thu, 17 Oct 2013 13:39:09 EST Progress and Publicity http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5503724 Eh, they sometimes go together - not necessarily today...

I finally did a new blog post, this one about game and story connecting (and when one derails the other) at http://jahowe.wordpress.com/2013/10/03/whe
n-story-and-game-collide/

I also somehow managed to get down to 125.2. Considering I'd been up around 131 for a few weeks - like awhile; I hadn't noted it for some reason - that's pretty good! I'm just about where I want to be weight-wise:) Thu, 3 Oct 2013 18:00:20 EST The Fortress, The Book, and the Brain http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5477909 I'm futzing about with "Dwarf Fortress" some, because at last I'm able to comprehend it without having a migraine. No, literally I used to get way too overwhelmed to do anything in there - lol now I can at least sort of play the thing. Which I like. It's good mental exercise, and we need that just as much as we need exercise for the rest of our bodies! Challenge your mind, people, whether it's by playing a different kind of game than you're used to, going on StumbleUpon for a half hour an... Fri, 6 Sep 2013 14:46:27 EST On Characterisation... my Downfall (also xposted from jahowe.wordpress.com) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5422098 Yes, you get two posts this week, because I didn’t do any last week. This one’s more writing-entailed:

I LOVE worldbuilding. Ohhh yeah. But oddly, characterization is where I have a downfall. I mean, a serious one. Back when my husband and I were playing World of Warcraft, I had something like 40+ characters, and they were all pretty distinct from one another. But at the same time, he noticed the other day when we were talking about it, that I didn’t really let them evolve muc... Mon, 15 Jul 2013 16:35:10 EST Baby's First Blog Post (xposted from http://jahowe.wordpress.com/2013/07/15/babys-first-patch-notes http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5422041 Wow. It’s a milestone; I’ve reached the point in my small dev career wherein I need to start doing these – if only for my own purposes. But then I figured you know it might be good to post these when I come to – yes that’s right, THE END OF A GAME. I mean, the thing works! (Not totally, hence the “bug report” in there, or “known issues,” as some devs prefer). I am so excited by this:)

Patch Notes for “Four Horsemen”: 8-12-2013/8-15-2013:

*blue statements mean things... Mon, 15 Jul 2013 15:35:21 EST odd... very odd, and all the same a good sign (maybe?) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5406452 So I utterly poofed myself out with the Bollywood Cardio Video - only did 8 minutes of it and it was still pretty tiring. I don't consider myself to be out of shape; I can walk for a couple miles, do yoga for half an hour, but this was waaay different. Lol my husband and I both like to watch dance shows on TV. So we've seen people saying Bollywood's very tough on a person - I guess it doesn't help much that I have very flat feet because of strokes so jumping is almost impossible just yet. ... Sun, 30 Jun 2013 15:07:04 EST "The Worldbuilders Garden" and then some http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5405585 The first thing you should know about me is I'm constantly frustrated by generalizations about health - this is changing very slowly, it's much better than when I was a kid and first diagnosed with lupus at age 10. But, I'm still faced with some really cruddy obstacles. For instance, I'm on SSDI - used to work, but about nine or ten years ago stroke number 2 kind of screwed that idea up. However, lupus is a chronic illness, and it goes in flares and remissions, and even in remission you ca... Sat, 29 Jun 2013 15:16:05 EST
