NEW YEAR, NEW ME! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5181153 I know I'm a few days early, but I figured no time like the present to start prepping my New Year's Resolutions. I've been neglecting SP for months so I figured this is a good start for my healthy resolutions. Here we go...
1 - I will log onto SP at least 4 days a week (trying to keep everything managable)
2 -Compete in some sort of mud run
3 - Log my food at least 3x a week
4 - Try at least 2 new healthy recipes a month
5 - Reach 10k steps a day at least 5x a week... Sun, 30 Dec 2012 17:25:52 EST Tomorrow is the big day! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4887825 I'm not quite where I wanted to be with my training, but I WILL complete a 5k tomorrow morning! I'm not too upset that I will most likely be walking part of it because I will still get out there and do it. Plus, I can only get better throughout the summer. Wish me luck & I'll post back with the outcome :) Fri, 18 May 2012 21:04:50 EST Hit a milestone today! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4854550 I said to hell with the training plan I've been following for my 5k and just ran a full mile without stopping! YAY ME! I haven't done that in 15 years (since hs). I am so proud of myself for it.
Now for the bad news.... I haven't been training as much as I should lately. I've been sick and dealing with a lot of house stuff. Appointments with lawyers and mortgage brokers every week :( So while I may not run the full 5k, I will have a great base for it and will improve all summer long unti... Fri, 27 Apr 2012 09:21:15 EST 5k update http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4793082 So yesterday's training plan called for me to walk 1.5 miles and then run 5 minutes and walk 5 minutes (run/walk 3 times). I woke up feeling like crap due to cramps but figured I would try the "fake until you make it" methodology. I really did try, but it didn't get any better. Instead I walked 20 minutes on the treadmill (1.25 miles) and then did 11 minutes on the elliptical (1.25 miles) and callex it a day. So today I did yesterday's plan. So below are my numbers....
5k in 41:45
T... Sun, 18 Mar 2012 09:27:57 EST 5k update http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4785947 Today's training called for walk 1 mile, then run 3 minutes every half mile until 3.5 miles. Then walk .5 miles. I slowed down the face of the runs to help me last the full 3 minutes each 1/2 mile. Too bad it didn't work. I only made it 2 minutes on the last run because I was starting to get dizzy :( Oh well, I still did it.
Today's time :43.45 Tue, 13 Mar 2012 17:05:27 EST 5k stats http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4781777 Woke up today only a little sore from yesterday. Nothing to deter me from continuing on with day 2 of training. My left butt check and the outside of my right thigh. I tried to stretch them both out a little extra, but wasn't sure of the exact stretches to do. So anyway.... here are my stats for today (plan called for a 3-5 mile walk)
I walked 3 miles in 45 minutes at a 1% incline. I then did 15 minutes on the elliptical which came out to 1.33 miles. So far so good! Tomorrow is a day of ... Sun, 11 Mar 2012 10:45:08 EST Today's 5k stats http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4780348 Today I did my 5k in 42:20. Doesn't sound all that exciting, but the plan I'm doing calls for a mile walk and then running for 2 minutes every half mile for the 1st day. Tomorrow will be plain old walking for 3-5 miles.
I also stretched my cool down to include a slow pace at a steeper incline and then flat at a slower pace. All in all I did 4.12 miles in 60 minutes. Can't wait to post my next update! Sat, 10 Mar 2012 09:27:20 EST Today's motivation.... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4779731
It’s very hard in the beginning to understand that the whole idea is not to beat the other runners. Eventually you learn that the competition is against the little voice inside you that wants you to quit.
George Sheehan. Fri, 9 Mar 2012 19:58:15 EST Excited for tomorrow! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4779448 Tomorrow I re-start my 5k training program and I can't wait! I WILL do it this time! And I guess tomorrow would also be a good time to start "practicing" what I eat before a run. This morning was my first SERIOUS start to a training program. I usually got bored pretty quickly. Not this time! I got the program from Fitness magazine and this will be my first blog entry tracking my progress.

5k in 44:06.

Can't wait to up the progress in an upcoming blog entry! Sat, 3 Mar 2012 09:29:37 EST First Strength class http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4765997 My spin instructor has been working on getting more certifications and tonight was her first 1/2 spin/half upper body class. I can't believe it made me realize I haven't done a single push up since high school! LOL But all in all I really enjoyed it. She was proud of me when I realized my form was off at the same time she was about to say something. I couldn't quite correct myself until I reached for lighter weights. I can't wait to see what else she has in store for her upcoming class schedu... Yes, I lost a total of 26 pounds, but I know that if I had been watching what I eat closer, I could have lost a lot more. I know 26 lbs is a big accomplishment, but after my wedding/honeymoon came the holidays and we all know what that means... lots of snacks and less time to excersize. Unfortunately, I did not change my eating habits much (at least no... It's going to be a long, rough few days, but we'll make it through together! Sun, 29 Jan 2012 09:26:02 EST Planks - more difficult than they look http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4699065 Friday I went to the gym with my neighbor who is always researching diet and excercising tips. She definately showed me a lot of new moves to incorporate into my workouts. One in particular was the plank. I've heard of them, read about them and seen them done, but never put put much stock into them because honestly, they looked so damn easy. Well... then I tried it. Definately a lot harder than they look! I did 3 with her. One for 10 seconds, then another for 7 and the final one was only 5 s... Mon, 23 Jan 2012 13:33:40 EST So proud! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4684178 My childhood best friend recently got certified and opened up her own spin studio. I've been going to classes and I love it! But even more than that, I was so proud of her for doing it. She has 3 young boys who are only 3 years in age. Her hard work and dedication are an inspiration to me. Whenever time seems short to work out for me, I think of how she always has time when she has a lot more going on in her life than I do. Well today at spin class I found out that she's going for her group f... Mon, 16 Jan 2012 11:36:18 EST Let's try this again! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4670889 So I know my last post was close to a year ago and I more or less slacked off on Spark, but I really did get healthier and lose weight. I was down 26 pounds and that is with gaining a bunch of muscle from weight training. But then I got married in October, went on a 2 week honeymoon, came home and jumped right into my busy season at work plus the holidays. Needless to say, I've gained about 10 pounds back.
My original short-term goal was to look beautiful in my wedding dress, but my lon... Tue, 10 Jan 2012 09:56:01 EST Gonna do it right this time http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4181482 And for the right reasons!

I think I originally joined SP back in 2007. Since then (up until a few days ago) I think I read maybe a total of 5 articles and never really looked at any of the trackers. Didn't really lose any weight in that time period either.

The last time i had major weight loss was back in 2000. I had been in a horrible relationship that I finally put an end to. I remember thinking in my head as I was working out to lose the 35 pounds that I didn't wan... Thu, 21 Apr 2011 11:34:59 EST Other people's feedback http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4181068 This is my first ever blog entry so please bear with me on this!

Why do people let other's thoughtless comments affect us so much? I went to visit my mother at work a few weeks agao and she told me that she can't tell if I'm losing any weight. Geee... thanks mom. I've been going to the gym religiously and instead of keeping your mouth shut, you have to give me negative feedback? It's not as if I had asked for any feedback at all! Needless to say, I left my visit feeling down on my... Thu, 21 Apr 2011 08:56:55 EST
