He thinks they are very cool. I think that is what we will be doing for read-aloud time for a while. After we finish with the Greeks I think I might try the Norse myths. They are even weirder.

Number 2: I am really enjoying how MyFitnessPal is synching with my MisFit Shine. Finally the exercise counts for something in terms of calories and eating. I have stopped tracking food on SparkPeople (sorry) because it is... Thu, 30 Oct 2014 11:40:28 EST What Went Well 10-28-14 Number 1: I finished reading the book to my younger son that we started back in August. We were reading a chapter a day and sometimes it just didn't get done. We will start a new book (or two) today. I think the new book is going to be Seabird by Holling C. Holling and the bonus book is a book of Greek Myths.

Number 2: My kids went to their science experiment class and got to play with a Tesla coil. And I din't have to do any of the set up or clean up or anything. They had a... Wed, 29 Oct 2014 11:42:00 EST What Went Well 10-27-14 Number 1: It was my daughter's birthday! She is the big 16 now. Time goes fast when you aren't looking.

Number 2: I have been working on a story and yesterday I was interrupted lots of time and still managed to keep going. That hasn't happened before. Usually when I am interrupted I lose my train of thought and it is hard to get started again. Maybe this is the start of something good.

Number 3: I ate apples instead of the Halloween candy in the house. I guess s... Tue, 28 Oct 2014 10:49:11 EST What Went Well 10-26-14 Number 1: I got up and went on my bike ride early. I have found that getting stuff done early is the best way to get stuff done. Planning to do something at 3:00 is hard. So much happens between getting up and 3:00. But then I also run out of time early...

Number 2: We went to the Farmer's Market but didn't buy much, just a package of granola for my husband. The CSA box is coming tomorrow and it has veggies and fruits in it.

Number 3: I am working on a new story.... Mon, 27 Oct 2014 10:21:31 EST What Went Well 10-25-14 Number 1: Japanese School had a Halloween Party. It was okay. The kids got tons of candy. The lunch was okay too, but there wasn't very much food I could tell ingredients on. This food sensitivity thing is really no fun.

Number 2: It rained. We need the rain so that was good, but I am not loving being cold and wet.

Number 3: My husband made burgers for dinner and forgot to cook my chicken patties. I reminded him. Sun, 26 Oct 2014 10:55:58 EST What Went Well 10-24-14 Number 1: My husband took the kids to their shop class and let me be alone for several hours.

Number 2: My older son had his music recital. He played "We're off to see the Wizard." from the Wizard of Oz.

Number 3: Traffic wasn't too miserable coming home from the recital even if it was rush hour and a football game day. Sat, 25 Oct 2014 16:08:37 EST What Went Well 10-23-14 Number 1: We spent the morning at a local pumpkin farm. It is called Uesugi Farm. They have a place where you can buy a pumpkin and also rides and activities to do. We went on a hayride and a train. We went on a walking tour of Butterfly Valley and met Bootsie the Bee. And we went through the Korn Maze and even shot pumpkins from a cannon. It was a great morning. We came home with three pumpkins, each of the kids picked one, and two marigold plants for me.

Number 2: After ... Fri, 24 Oct 2014 11:37:41 EST What Went Well 10-22-14 Number 1: I watched the movie Catching Fire on Amazon Prime. I am glad I didn't pay money to see it in a movie theater. It wasn't bad just boring.

Number 2: I attempted to fix my younger son's computer. It didn't work, but I felt better for having tried. I set him up on a different computer for his creative writing class.

Number 3: I think I have figured out that my problems with dairy go beyond just intolerance and have drifted into the allergy category. I think... Thu, 23 Oct 2014 11:39:10 EST What Went Well 10-21-14 Number 1: I got to all the places I needed to go on time.

Number 2: I have almost reached the end of Recorder Book One. It is time to order Recorder Book 2.

Number 3: I saw my trainer yesterday and he doesn't have a hernia. This is great. Recovery from hernia surgery is 6-8 weeks of no lifting. That would be a long time.

Number 4: Younger son's digestive issues have stayed away. Wed, 22 Oct 2014 10:52:35 EST What Went Well 10-20-14 Number 1: It rained. Here in drought-central any rain is good.

Number 2: I saw my friends at the park. We didn't stay long because of the the rain, but I did get to talk for a little while.

Number 3: I watched a movie with my kids. The Road to El Dorado was okay as far as animated movies go. I would pay much to see it, but it wasn't a waste of time either.

Number 4: I signed up for more support on the weight loss journey. Progress has stalled and is... Mon, 20 Oct 2014 10:08:16 EST What Went Well 1-18-14 Number 1: My daughter and older son took the CHSPE yesterday. It is a high school proficiency test that is given only in the state of California. I am not planning on graduating this year but taking and passing this test will make it easier to enroll in classes at the local community college which could be really helpful. I can't teach some subjects and would love to outsource them to somebody who can.

Number 2: My younger son had his Show and Tell at Japanese school. He brou... Sun, 19 Oct 2014 11:12:08 EST What Went Well 10-17-14 Number 1: My kids spent the morning at their shop class and had a great time. Unfortunately my daughter's bag didn't make it home. The bag contained an ipad and her 3ds. She was upset. I decided that being calm was more helpful. Police report filed, now we wait.

Number 2: I stayed calm when my husband's work stuff made him really twitchy. Big ugly deadline = Stressed out husband = no fun. Thu, 16 Oct 2014 11:53:10 EST What Went Well 10-14-14 Number 1: Youngest went to the orthodontist and got his braces adjusted. He picked red and pink for the bands for Halloween. Why red and pink? My youngest is having a good time and definitely getting stronger. I signed him up for the next session. Happy kid.

Number 3: I ordered some new recorder music for me. The harder stuff from the lesson book is... unfamiliar a... Tue, 14 Oct 2014 13:23:38 EST What Went Well 10-12-14 Number 1: We went to a framing store and got a print framed. The print is very simple and has two fish on it.

Number 2: My husband and I tried out a new game called Formula D. It is a racing car game. Mon, 13 Oct 2014 10:12:18 EST What Went Well 10-11-14 Number 1: I took a shower in my shower today. It was amazing.

Number 2: Japanese school went well. We are going to add some personal conversation to the mix. This is good. Knowing how to answer the grammar exercises is of limited value when someone asks you what you did last weekend and you don't have the vocabulary to figure out how to say what you did. Also I am working my way through WaniKani. It is a learn kanji app. I am going very very slowly. My brain is not memo... Fri, 10 Oct 2014 10:32:24 EST What Went Well 10-9-14 Number 1: I went to bed when I was tired. It was about 10:30 and I was totally exhausted from exercising with my trainer the day before. So instead of trying to 'act like a grown up and stay up late'. I acted like a grown up and went to bed. Funny how that works.

Number 2: I watched some of Avatar: The Last Airbender with my kids. The story isn't bad and the animation is beautiful. We are watching an english language version and I wonder if it wasn't originally in Japanese.... Thu, 9 Oct 2014 10:20:36 EST What Went Well 10-7-14 Number 1: I messed up and forgot about music lessons yesterday. I remembered that we needed to leave at 4:30 for the 5:00 lesson at 5:07. That isn't going to get us there on time in any universe. But here is the good part... I didn't panic. I just dealt with it. This is huge. A few months ago I would have felt like the world was coming to an end. Maybe this self compassion thing really works.

Number 2: I saw my trainer. Mon, 6 Oct 2014 10:43:26 EST What Went Well 10-4-14 Number 1: The washing machine is fixed. My husband, youtube, and the appliance parts store got together and made it work. Wooohoo!

Number 2: Japanese school went well. I talked to a teacher about my trying to read Charlotte's Web in Japanese. She helped on a few of the words I was stuck on.
