We played chess and LIFE and yahtzee. I think we both even had fun.

Number 2: The weather was wonderful at the park. Not too hot or too cold. If only all the days could be like that.

Number 3: I stayed within my calorie range and went biking. This was one of the days when even that was a challenge. Tue, 29 Jul 2014 09:30:26 EST What Went Well 7-27-14 Number 1: Strawberries at the Farmer's Market were amazing. Half a flat gone in a few hours. Yummmmmmm!

Number 2: The Phineas and Ferb: Star Wars movie was as amazing as it sounds. My husband and I watched the movie with the kids. Darth Doof was especially funny.

Number 3: My husband bought 4 new flavor things for my water. I didn't need four but I said thank you well. Now I can have many kinds of flavored water... Mon, 28 Jul 2014 10:48:45 EST What Went Well 7-26-14 Number 1: I went into Great America and watched the shows. The ice show was great as usual but the Broadway show was far better than usual. They sang with more feeling than they usually have. The Jukebox Musical number was especially funny.

Number 2: I checked out JapanesePod101 for learning Japanese in this time before we start up again in September. I signed up for the free trial a long time ago and didn't make it work. I am ready to try again.

Number 3: My olde... Sun, 27 Jul 2014 11:45:58 EST What Went Well 7-25-14 Number 1: I watched the fireworks from the green space in front of our house. They were as always very pretty. The only interesting part was when a snail decided to crawl up my foot as we were watching. It was wet and slimy and I was glad I didn't scream as I knocked it off.

Number 2: My daughter made blondies and covered them with green frosting. I can't eat that particular frosting because it contains too much lactose so she left some unfrosted. That was nice, but I shouldn... Sat, 26 Jul 2014 11:04:40 EST What Went Well 7-24-14 Number 1: My youngest loves his new swim teacher and the swim teacher likes him too. The class has four kids in it and the other three are all girls, but my son doesn't seem to mind. I asked him if the girls were nice and he said, "They talk to me and they aren't mean. So I guess they are nice." A good enough definition for now. We spent the drive there and back listening to Phineas and Ferb sing about having a great day. I think so!

Number 2: We went to Great America in th... The book was okay, but at least I am doing better at taking care of me.

Number 4: I watched cartoons with my kids. Dragon Tales, Voltron, and more. It is very cool to enjoy something with them that I enjoyed as a kid too. Thu, 24 Jul 2014 11:33:51 EST What Went Well 7-22-14 Number 1: I got a new message from my nutrition coach. I am working on getting my diet in line with the recommendations.

Number 2: My recorder lesson was okay. I hadn't practiced enough and it showed. But I don't see her again for about a month.

Number 3: Remember back about a week ago, when my younger son was taking swimming lessons and got a new teacher every day? Today he had the teacher that he was supposed to have had for three of those days. And it was a di... Wed, 23 Jul 2014 00:39:41 EST What Happened Yesterday? 7-21-14 Number 1: I took my ten year old to get the final pictures and xrays and stuff before he gets braces. That went well. I let him pick the music we listened to on the way, Phineas and Ferb album 1. The only problem was the orthodontist decided to put some elastic spacer things in his mouth and that was a change from what we were told to expect. So he cried. Hopefully, we can figure out how to communicate better and not change the plan mid-stream on him again. I hope.

Number 2:... Tue, 22 Jul 2014 10:10:45 EST Update 7-20-14 The conference is over. I am totally and completely exhausted. I learned good stuff, but I am beyond tired.

Good stuff:

Number 1: My husband dropped the kids off at the movie theater on the way to pick me up from the conference today. This means we got to have lunch together and come home to a blissfully quiet house. My introverted self is very grateful.

Number 2: I talked to lots of people about stuff I care about. I am not alone. That is wonderful to... Sun, 20 Jul 2014 17:47:25 EST What Happened Today? 7-18-14 Today I spent the day at a conference. I sat and listened to various people talk. I ate conference food. And I stayed within calorie range.

So good stuff...

Number 1: I successfully navigated driving to the conference hotel and parking in their parking lot. This is a big deal for me. I am not the most confident driver nor am I particularly good at directions.

Number 2: The keynote speaker was entertaining and informative. He did a session later in the ... Sat, 19 Jul 2014 00:16:29 EST What Happened Yesterday? 7-16-14 Number 1: I did a whole lot of lesson planning for my younger son and his classes for next year. English and Science and Games/Strategy and Art and even Geography are at least a little bit planned. Of course, my plans are only guidelines and he is a human and not a robot so I know we won't follow them exactly, but at least it is a start.

Number 2: I watched SuperBuddies with my kids. It is a movie about a group of superhero puppies. It was sweet and adorable. The puppies sav... Thu, 17 Jul 2014 10:11:54 EST What Happened Yesterday? 7-15-14 Number 1: I watched the Season 3 finale of Grimm. I enjoyed it greatly and am waiting for Season 4 to start in October.

Number 2: I went to my recorder lesson. Slowly getting better. Very slowly.

Number 3: I went biking with older son again. This is getting to be a habit. And a good habit at that. I miss the weight lifting but not the gym. I would love to find some body weight workouts. Maybe I should look on the SparkPeople site for some.... Wed, 16 Jul 2014 10:44:45 EST What Happened Yesterday 7-14-14 Sorry, it looks like I messed up the dates again.

This blog is about yesterday, Monday, July 14.

Number 1: I took the kids to the orthodontist yesterday. My daughter is many months into having braces. It looks like she will be out of them by the end of the year. This is good. My older son may need braces sometime in the future, but not now. My younger son, the ten year old, needs braces. Now. His jaw is far too small for his teeth and he his adult teeth are com... Tue, 15 Jul 2014 12:19:40 EST What Happened Yesterday? 7-14-14 Number 1: I took my younger son to the playground down the street and introduced him to the new structures that are there. He was dutifully impressed. I took pictures.

Number 2: We played a family board game and it was good. The game is called Tsuro and we all enjoyed it. Best of all it plays well with five people and only takes about 15 minutes.

Number 3: I am working on figuring out my exercise situation. The current part isn't working well. The biking is grea... Mon, 14 Jul 2014 10:43:03 EST What Happened Yesterday? 7-12-14 Number 1: I went biking riding again. Maybe this will be a habit! This is a habit I could like.

Number 2: I watched much of season 3 of Grimm. It is a tv show I recently found and I am greatly enjoying it.

Number 3: Husband and older son went to Magic prerelease tournament. (This is the Magic card game not like rabbit out of a hat.) They both lost but the prize for losing was more Magic cards so happiness was everywhere. The prizes for winning were better cards ... Sun, 13 Jul 2014 11:34:39 EST What Happened Yesterday? 7-11-14 Number 1: I went bike riding again. It was still good.

Number 2: Younger son had swimming lessons. The teacher he was supposed to have didn't come in. That means six different teachers in six lessons. I filled out a comment card.

Number 3: We went back to Great America last night. I saw the ice show and the broadway show and went on the wooden roller coaster with my son. We only saw part of the fireworks because we were late getting to our meet up spot but it wa... Sat, 12 Jul 2014 12:07:30 EST What Happened Yesterday? 7-10-14 Number 1: Still more biking with oldest son. I think this is getting to be a habit! I like my new exercise partner.

Number 2: Younger son had swimming lessons again. He had yet another new teacher, but this one was scheduled that was weeks ago. Today he should have this same teacher. I hope.

Number 3: I think I have decided what I am going to do for younger son's schooling next year. (We are homeschoolers.) Instead of doing a normal history program we are goi... Fri, 11 Jul 2014 11:39:29 EST What Happened Yesterday? 7-9-14 Number 1: I went biking again with my older son. He is definitely getting faster.

Number 2: My younger son had his swimming lesson. Another new teacher. He liked this one better than any of the earlier ones.

Number 3: My husband's friends came over and we played board games and then watched the Lego Movie. I went to bed really late. (That is why this blog post is late.) Thu, 10 Jul 2014 12:03:47 EST What Happened Today 7-8-14 Number 1: Today was day two of my younger son's week of swimming lessons. He had a lesson at 1:30 and then his normal one at 5:15. The purpose of the week of swimming lessons was to give him some consistency and extra practice. Well, the extra practice is working well. His classes are supposed to have four kids and he was the only one there. The problem... consistency with the teachers. The swim school is having issues with staff turnover. So of the 6 classes he is having this week... Wed, 9 Jul 2014 00:25:17 EST What Happened Today 7-7-14 Number 1: My daughter had an appointment with her doctor today to try and figure out her hyper-mobility and decide if it was a problem. My daughter can bend her fingers back all the way to her wrist and her elbows bend about 10 degrees the wrong direction. But her eyes are normal and her knees are normal and her skin is normal. All this points to Benign Hyper Mobility. A good thing. But since her joints are causing her pain, he wants to send her to a specialist. Calling them is on the ... Mon, 7 Jul 2014 23:31:58 EST What Went Well 7-6-14 Number 1: I went on a bike ride again with older son. He says that he likes going biking with me. Except for one thing... he doesn't like that I can go faster than he does. So he wants to bike with me every day so that he can get stronger so he can pass me. That is a good idea. But if I go biking with him then I will get stronger too!

Number 2: I was sitting in our bedroom watching a tv show on my ipad when I noticed a black cat in our back yard. He was sitting in the shad... Mon, 7 Jul 2014 00:51:02 EST What Happened Today? 7-5-14 Number 1: We went to the July 5th firework show at the local amusement park. They don't have fireworks on July 4.

Number 2: My youngest son has decided that he likes roller coasters. So I just had to go with him on the wooden roller coaster tonight. It was fun.

Number 3: I made brownie/cookie bars. They are weird. I think I like either brownies or cookies better than this mix.

Number 4: I went on a bike ride with my older son this morning. It was g... Sun, 6 Jul 2014 01:41:15 EST What Happened Yesterday? 7-4-14 Number 1: I woke up way too early. I decided that that meant I could get more stuff done. Ha. Ha. Ha.

Number 2: I watched Fantasia and Fantasia 2000 with my family. Those flamingos with the yo-yo is so funny. My husband and I also played cribbage. We were going to play something harder, but we were too tired.

Number 3: I made banana chocolate chip bars. And I ate some. And they were good. And I am not going to feel guilty.

(Number 4: Because it i... Sat, 5 Jul 2014 12:54:27 EST What is Working 7-3-14 Number 1: I am learning that calories is a RANGE and not a number. This is hard, but necessary. I can live with a range far better than a number.

Number 2: I wore my bright yellow minion shirt today and it made me smile. Yellow is not a good color for my skin tone, but I don't care. I like the big happy grin on my shirt and on my face.

Number 3: I didn't go to the gym today. I am tired and sore and exhausted. I decided that taking care of me starts with understa... Fri, 4 Jul 2014 01:03:45 EST What Went Well 7-2-14 Number 1: My big kid is HOME! She is home from camp and visiting my parents. I am very glad she is home and so is she.

Number 2: We are watching one of my new dvds tonight and it is great.

Number 3: I went for my walk today it was good.

I am busy listening to my older kids chat about the week they spent apart. It is really interesting how much they missed each other. Most of the time my older son isn't so interested in being around his big sister. Toni... Wed, 2 Jul 2014 23:26:20 EST What Went Well 7-1-14 Number 1: I went to the gym today and did some weight lifting. It was hard, really hard. Since I have been focusing on my diet for the past month I haven't been working on fitness. It is difficult to do a good job at both. Anyway, the lack of calories in my diet and the lack of recent lifting mean that my ability to lift weight has gone down. Way way down. I want to be both strong and lose weight and it looks like both aren't going to happen at once. This is sad. I don't know what I ... Wed, 2 Jul 2014 01:08:35 EST What Went Well 6-30-14 Number 1: I survived.

Number 2: We went to the park and met some friends. The boys played with water guns and laughed. The moms sat in the shade and tried not to bake.

Number 3: It is my husband's birthday. I am very glad I got to spend it with him. (He was at work, but... I saw him tonight.)

Number 4: One of the boys at the park had a birthday yesterday and celebrated today at the park with cake and pizza. A double bonus of fun at the park. Tue, 1 Jul 2014 00:38:58 EST What About Yesterday? 6-29-14 First a bit of explanation, I have not so wonderful days and moments just like everyone else. I just try not to write the not so pleasant stuff down because the act of writing it makes it more likely to stick in my ahead and I don't want to remember the bad stuff. So I have been deliberately only blogging about the good stuff. This morning, though, is a little different.

Number 1: The only direction the scale has moved in the last week is the WRONG direction.

Numbe... Mon, 30 Jun 2014 10:28:42 EST What is Going Well 6-28-14 Number 1: My boys are home from camp. They had a great time. I missed them and am glad they are back.

Number 2: I was able to laugh when my husband dropped a two pound meatloaf on the floor. Instead of scream or yell or anything else.

Number 3: I sent in my numbers to my coach. This week was... not productive. I think the stress of the kids being away and being on the go so much made it hard to get much traction. I hope that this coming week is better. Sat, 28 Jun 2014 21:37:43 EST What Went Well 6-27-14 (This is for yesterday... I forgot.)

Number 1: I organized the freezer. Now, I know what is in there. Sat, 28 Jun 2014 10:37:19 EST What Is Going Well 6-26-14 Number 1: I went to the Walt Disney Family Museum today and saw the Mary Blair exhibit. Mary Blair was the woman who designed the Small World ride among other things. It was very interesting and fun.

Number 2: We went to lunch in San Francisco and I had grilled chicken and broccoli. This is a big deal because I had to ask for special order and that is hard for me to do. I did it though and kept in my macros for the day.

Number 3: The speakers and a desk have gone ... Fri, 27 Jun 2014 00:32:14 EST What is Going Well 6-25-14 Number 1: Today we cleaned out the garage and found homes for the furniture that we no longer need. Most of it is in the garage waiting to be picked up in the next few days, but soon the car will fit in the garage!

Number 2: I stuck with my calorie and carb/protein/fat goals today even though it was really hard. The number look good, but I am seriously hungry. I hope my body isn't like this all day tomorrow or I will be a seriously unhappy camper.

Number 3: My daug... Thu, 26 Jun 2014 00:34:02 EST What is Going Well 6-24-14 Number 1: Today we went to the Alameda County Fair. And I saw pig races! I have never seen them before and they were very very funny. I laughed and laughed. A very good time.

Number 2: While we were at the fair there was a ton of fair food. Deep fried everything and super large portions of everything else. I did not eat any of it. I had grilled chicken on a stick instead. It was good and better still was the knowledge that I was in charge of my own food.

Numb... It was a good thing to do and I am sorry I didn't get it done as many times as I should have last week.

Number 3: I ate mindfully today. Mon, 16 Jun 2014 00:53:21 EST What Went Well 6-13-14 Number 1: I went to see Aerial Ice Extreme tonight. It is a show at the local amusement park. We have season passes and live very close so it is a fun evening out.

Number 2: I am getting better at finding a way to hit my protein/carb/calorie goals. Still not getting to the protein one. I think I would need to use protein powder to do that and I don't want to mess with them because of my lactose issues.

Number 3: My daughter enjoyed an afternoon with her friend tod... Sat, 14 Jun 2014 00:44:18 EST What Went Well 6-12-14 Number 1: I got to the gym.

Number 2: I went to my recorder lesson and it was good.

Number 3: I got closer to my calorie/protein/carb numbers than before. Fri, 13 Jun 2014 01:41:42 EST What Went Well 6-11-14 Number 1: I got closer to my food plan goals today. I hit the calorie one but am still not getting to my protein goal. Still not there, but closer.

Number 2: I tried a new vegetable today, mustard greens. They aren't my favorite by a mile but they came in our CSA box and I decided to try them anyway. They are supposed to be a relative of broccoli but they just taste green to me. I will try them again tomorrow and see if familiarity makes them better.

Number 3: I helped my older... Fri, 6 Jun 2014 00:12:54 EST What Went Well 6-4-14 Number 1: No one had a flip out when we got stuck for ten minutes on the Jungle Cruise ride this morning at Disneyland. We looked at the Elephant Bathing Pool for a long time and pointed out details that we usually don't have time to notice. (When we got off we were given a pass to go on any ride in the park through the Fast Pass lane so it wasn't really a bad deal. We used it to skip 45 minutes of line for Big Thunder Mountain.)

Number 2: We laughed when Pirates of the Caribb...
