I am not looking forward to this as I know there is no growth. I am not talking about financial growth I am now looking for that mental challenge I found in the ISG. I found something I enjoyed doing, I found people that pushed me to think and motivated me to grow and challenged me to make something out of nothing. People I look up to, respect and call friends. I found leaders that put ... Sun, 20 Apr 2014 21:16:35 EST Note on today's 5k. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5670691 So for my first official walking event i would say for not having the proper technique I did well. I placed 6th overall and finally got to meet some local race walkers including Bert Pickell, SA's local race walking coach. I have a new goal of reaching 11min/mi as I watched the overall winner finish with a time of 35:30.9(tag), avg pace of 11:26. I also saw some San Antonio Spark Team Team there as well. Overall it was a great morning that has me looking ahead at improvement. <BR> a few secon... Sat, 12 Apr 2014 19:59:03 EST Short note to end 2013 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5573009 Things did not go as planned for last part of Nov and Dec. Dislocated rib is causing all kind of breathing issues and pain. for 2013 I set new highs for myself, 28 mile walk across San Antonio to thank all those who helped me get here, first century ride, back to back PR's in half-marathons and just a lot of riding, and walking with some wonderful people. Thanks to all who made this an amazing year and though I didn't reach 2400 miles, I'll take 2288.82 miles, lessons learned from everyone, f... Fri, 27 Dec 2013 11:51:25 EST Your help to get me there. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5512961 Though I've gained some weight my overall health and fitness is good. I will be focusing on walking and T25 with a little bit of cycling as I have the marathon next month. Also need to increase water intake and get back on track with eating. I've set a new goal weight of 185 as I feel it's the best place I can be to continue riding and attempt a triathlon and ultramarathon. All I ask is you all keep me on track. Mon, 14 Oct 2013 08:24:18 EST Walk or bike??? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5369029 Since I started walking it became my go to fitness routine. From time to time I would do a video or go to gym, but walking I could do anywhere and at anytime. My lunch hour turned into how far can I go in 50 mins, leaving time to change back into work clothes. My mornings and evenings were available as well and Saturday mornings turned into, how far can I go after, when I wanted to push myself after group walks. While I am not a racer I see distance as a true test and if I am able to push mys... Sun, 28 Apr 2013 10:42:23 EST You walk to much... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5209627 "You walk to much", again you? "you already walked once today", "be careful and don't over do it", are said to me by many to include my wife. I don't mind it I understand the concern and surprise, at one time I myself use to call people to ran marathons and across states crazy. As humans we don't find excuses, we just make them and convince ourselves of things we can't do. Truth is we can just not at the level we see someone else doing it. This was the best thing I heard anyone say to me an... Tue, 1 Jan 2013 14:01:43 EST The dreaded plateau. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5101189 After three weeks and no change in weight I'm going to say I've hit the first plateau. While I feel better and can see some changes I was hoping this wouldn't have happened until dropping 10 more pounds. While I'm still positive about what I am doing and what drives me, hurdles like this and my high cholesterol tend to bring my spirits down. The fight with cholesterol was what drove me to give up on everything I was doing last year, change in diet and fitness spiked it above 250 and I was doi... After finishing with the group I have an urge to go farther and faster and this Saturday I added another 6 miles to my walk. I have been overweight for so long and I have had enough.
