Mon, 15 Jun 2015 23:22:13 EST Smoothies made SUPER easy This is going to be sort of a product review entry so if you don't like product reviews, you can move along to the next blog 43

I have been reading in several places how smoothies have helped people get servings of fruit and vegies more easily. All you need is some ingredients and a blender. I have one of the large blenders and it is such a pain in the rump to get it out, put it all together, then clean up for just one smoothie. I was looking in the small appliance ais... Tue, 31 Mar 2015 11:02:38 EST Low Carb Change, end of 3 months progress I started eating low carb in January. My blood sugars were getting out of control == again== (for those who don't know, I am Type 2 Diabetic). I lost a good amount of weight but having my blood sugar under control is more important. I started low carb in Feb. and lost 8 pounds in a month. I started vigorously working out and gained some back. Apparently that is ok according to my diabetes educator I am going to. I feel A LOT better since I have been doing the low carb thing. I need to keep remind... Sun, 22 Mar 2015 10:42:19 EST Great Changes So I have been at my new job at Humana for almost a month now. I was sitting here reflecting on the new year and all the possibilities this year holds. I decided in August I was leaving my old job after our vacation to Florida. I hadn't had a whole week's vacation in a long time. Being away from my job and just relaxing (and not being depressed for a week!) really got me thinking. I went back to work and I fell into the same rut. I spent a couple of weeks just plain miserable. That was no way... Sun, 4 Jan 2015 12:47:18 EST New job, new chapter Depression roller coasters are no fun. In just 3 short months, I quit a job that was very very unhealthy for me, physically and mostly emotionally. I was scared to quit and take on the temp job that I was offered but the stress was slowly killing me. So I worked for 2 months at Antem (health insurance company). I was slowly feeling better but eating not so well. I still had the stress of maybe getting laid off at any time and "Oh my God, what am I going to do when this gig is up if I don't ha... Mon, 8 Dec 2014 13:47:34 EST Finally stopped drinking diet pop! It has been 17 days since I have had a diet pop. I can't believe I finally did it. I have been drinking lots of water, teas, and Crystal Light. Crystal Light Fruit Punch tastes like Hawaii punch. So when I am craving sugary stuff, I drink some of that and it helps. I went back up to almost 260 a few weeks ago because I was stress and emotionally eating. I really dislike the job I have now, not really my job just the way things happen there. I found a new job and I have felt great since. I had... Sun, 28 Sep 2014 16:08:17 EST The doors at work are not working this morning... And I am usually the first person that answers the phone for the front door visitors. My pedometer is getting a workout this morning :) I could be lazy and just let it ring to one of the other ladies but I am getting up everytime and moving today. Being under 250 lbs. I really motivating me to try harder for that next 50 lbs. dropped. Fri, 1 Aug 2014 11:26:23 EST Weight Watchers Works! I haven't made a blog entry in awhile. Life gets in the way sometimes 245 I started Weight Watchers Points Plus system on July 7th weighing 260 miserable pounds. I did my weigh in yesterday and I am down to.....drum roll please..... 245.3 lbs. Woot Woot!!!! Are you going to complain and shrink or are you going to step into your greatness?"

-- Robert Tew Tue, 25 Feb 2014 11:06:41 EST Drinking calories It is amazing how many calories you can drink in one day if you are not careful. I normally only drink coffee, brewed teas and water, occaisionally a diet soda. Today with my lunch I saw Ocean Spray Cran-Grape drink in the vending machine and that sounded awfully good and sweet. Lordy, it has 120 calories per serving, if you drink the whole bottle, that is 240 calories just in a bottle of juice! It is only 15% juice on top of that. Mon, 24 Feb 2014 12:42:20 EST Progress and Success Slowly but surely I am making progress with the blood sugar control. I went to the doc in September and the A1c number was 10.5 which is extremely too high. Normal should be betwee 6.5 to 7. I went to the doc again on Jan. 3. She had put me on insulin and I got scared and depressed. I dropped from 277 pounds in September to 246 in November. I packed on 10 pounds, mostly because i felt discouraged and depressed because my blood sugars were what I though were too high. Granted they are high but... Mon, 13 Jan 2014 13:15:19 EST Added some weight, not going to fret! I added some weight over the holidays and during my 3 months of mandatory overtime. Not going to worry about it though. Just have to buck up and get back on track! Mon, 6 Jan 2014 09:23:29 EST Holy Cow, I can jog! I didn't think i could but I did! Last night my blood sugar was a little high because i bartended at the Legion Post for the Bengals game and ate some junk food. When i got home after dinner it was high so i decided to go for a fast, brisk walk. I walked a mile then started back home and thought what the heck, let's jog and see how it feels. I jogged for about 1 minute. Not fast, just enough to get me out of breath lol I did that in short spurts all the way home. It wasn't much and i didn't f... Mon, 21 Oct 2013 13:06:30 EST Finally found something to replace my diet soda addiction I have been trying off and on for years to kick the diet pop addiction. I swear it is harder then quitting smoking. We get free coffee and tea at work. I rarely drink tea. When I am sick or when my stomach is having issues, I drink organic peppermint tea or lemon tea with some honey. I tried all the teas at work but was reluctant to try the chai. Chai has cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, star anise, fennel, and another herb i can't think of right now. I thought this all sounded pretty gross. I sta... Fri, 4 Oct 2013 10:33:15 EST What's working for me.... September 3rd, I was told my A1C was 10.5. I was put on insulin, upped metformin. This is to track what I have been doing and what is working...

1) No bread - I have had bread maybe 5 times this month.

2) No pasta - I had pasta twice this month and it was in the form of Weight watchers frozen lunch and a Kashi frozen lunch.

3) No red meat this week - I have been eating chicken in place of red meat. First sugary treat I have had in a week. I went for a follow up with the doctor yesterday. My blood sugar is coming down but she is switching up the meds a bit. She is uping insulin by only 5 units and giving me a different kind of metformin. My morning glucose level is still high for her liking so that is why the switch. My blood pressure is great but she said my sodium is low and so are my electrolytes. She likes that I lost 5 pounds but said... Thu, 19 Sep 2013 10:08:06 EST Ugh, so tired of food.... So it has been 2 weeks since the Diabetes bomb fell into my lap. I have been doing really good about cutting back on eating, tracking the blood sugar, taking all my meds, trying to stay positive. Today I am just in a blah mood and need to vent I think. I am so tired of food. I feel like it is controlling my life like when I was a teenager and battling bulimia. I am tired of eating, does that make sense? Nothing sounds good to eat right now. I skipped lunch yesterday because I just wasn't hung... Fri, 13 Sep 2013 12:24:32 EST The Great Bread Experiment I love sandwiches. This is what I am going to miss most out of my eating habits. I was eating Klosterman Homestyle wheat bread. It jacks my blood sugar really high. So I went with no bread for a few days. I thought I would try Pita Bread today with my vegie burgers. Well, whole wheat Pita bread is out of the question. It jacked my blood sugar 128 points after 1 and a half hours. *sighs* So what next? I guess I will have to try tortilla shells for my sandwich cravings. Any suggestions? Wed, 11 Sep 2013 21:40:57 EST What's that?? The scale moved!!! So I went to the doctor on August 30th and got the wake up call and put on all the meds. I went for my yearly female check up. I have lost 5 pounds since Aug 30. I am down to 250. I nearly cried. I have been struggling the past almost 2 weeks with everything and trying to keep a positive attitude amongst all these drastic changes I HAVE to make to stay alive. I really needed this boost. And my blood pressure has dropped too. My blood sugar readings are still high but I keep telling myself th... Wed, 11 Sep 2013 10:24:46 EST Getting rid of the fat clothes So I have lost almost 25 pounds this past year. I was going through clothes this weekend for a yard sale at our American Legion Post. I had clothes I forgot about because they just don't fit anymore. Too baggy shirts and pants that fall off when I put them on. I am facing a decision that is causing me some anxiety. I never never never want to be big enough to fit into these clothes ever again. But there is my little self doubter in the back of my brain that was telling me to hang on to the cl... Tue, 10 Sep 2013 12:26:00 EST Family Yoga Time Out of the blue last night my 10 year old daughter asked to do Yoga using my Just My Size Yoga DVD. I was actually feeling pretty good last night so I said I would join her which prompted my 13 year old son to want to join in too. We all did the routine before the 10 year old had to go shower and go to bed. We had so much fun together. We were giggling and helping each other stay balanced. We all woke up this morning and agreed we felt really good this morning after doing it. My son said we s... Wed, 4 Sep 2013 09:09:31 EST First Day of Insulin :( So I am on a regimin of of Zocor for cholesterol, metformin for the high blood sugar, Lisiniprol to protect the kidneys from high blood sugar, and an insulin pen inject called Lantus. I was very nervous about the lantus pen. I keep having people tell me once you are on insulin injections, you are on injections for life. I was afraid of the pain too. I hate needles, i didn't know how i was going to work up the nerve to stick myself. It wasn't bad at all. It hurts more to prick your finger for ... Tue, 3 Sep 2013 23:03:01 EST Back to square one Looks like I am back to square one. I have still been walking 5 days a week. My eating habits have been so so. I am down to 255 lbs. I went to the doctor Friday because I haven't been to the doctor in several years. I was feeling fine. Of course when you are feeling fine it doesn't mean your body is doing fine. I suspected my blood sugar is out of whack. I eat way too much bread even though it is wheat, I know I eat to much. I have also started to drink V8 Splash juice. It tastes good and has... Mon, 2 Sep 2013 10:28:34 EST Encouraging Others to Keep Pushing I am a member at my local YMCA. I go there 2 to 3 times a week to work out. The past few weeks I have been going, I have noticed women complimenting other women and encouraging them along. it is really sweat to see and hear. I have had a few smaller women who have made positive comments to me and one who offered to help me make a workout plan in the weight room. We need to support each other and create a positive environment no matter the size of the person or level of activity. Negativity wi... Wed, 20 Feb 2013 13:12:53 EST Amazing December and January were sllllooooowww on the weightloss in pounds front. I hit a platue for awhile and the scale and I were not friends. We were becoming enemies. I weighed myself on 2/11 and I was finally under 260. I was at 259. I had some running around to do tonight so i didn't work out. I went to pick the daughter up at Ta Kwon Do and had to use the little girls room. The scale is there in the locker room and I thought what the heck, let's see where we are today Jeanette. In 7 days, I ... Honestly, I thought I had put on some pounds so I was avoiding the scale. Since February 1, I have had 3 cans of diet coke. I weighed myself tonight. I stepped off the scale because i was in disbelief and weighed myself again. I went to work out and thought I should weigh myself again just to be sure....I am down to....drum roll please....259!!!!!! I am under 260 for the first time in 10 years. Tears came to my eyes. I would have shed those tears if... Mon, 11 Feb 2013 21:41:44 EST Day 4 - No Soda Challenge And it is killing me!!!!! I have been craving a soda since I got up this morning. I am fighting it hard. I don't have any cash on me to tempt me to go to the vending machine which is a good thing. I have a massive headache. I drank a cup of coffee thinking it was the caffeine but the headache is still there. I am also tired even though I slept about 7 hours last night. I have to get through this though because I know the artificial sweetner is bad for me. Fri, 25 Jan 2013 09:31:25 EST Week 3 - Green Coffee and Rasberry Ketones I lost 1.5 pounds the past 2 weeks. I am almost out of the green coffee. I got busy at work and worked overtime a lot and in the past 14 days I only went to the gym 4 days. I think exercise makes a difference with these pills. I have am still on the cutting back portions and introducing lots of vegies. So i don't think the pills are working. I have been taken them as instructed by Dr. Oz on his show. Some people these may work and some may not. There are a lot of health benefits other then w... Thu, 24 Jan 2013 09:36:50 EST Inspiring our children I have to share a proud Momma moment. Last night while fixing dinner, I made a salad to eat before dinner. Fiber in before dinner means less dinner in. Both of my kids piped in that they wanted a salad before dinner too. 104 Then the husband piped in "where's mine?" lol

So after dinner, my son is washing dishes and i was assembling my salad for lunch today and my daughter decides she is going to pack her lunch for tomorrow too (she is 10, in 4th grade). A boy who is 12 1/2 and in 7th grade (junior high) and a girl who will be 10 Sunday and in 4th grade. I remember growing up with an overweight mother. Her highest weight was around 375 at one time. I have never been over 300, but still I don't want my kids remember their fat mom who couldn't get off the couch to do anything with them. My mom ALWAYS tried new diets. I think... Tue, 15 Jan 2013 12:03:49 EST Week 1 - Green Coffee and Red Raspberry Ketones I have been using these for a week now after researching it all to death. I have lost 1 and 1/2 pounds and I have more energy during the day. I have also cut WAY back on my portion sizes. Instead of a mountain of spaghetti, I have a mole hill. Instead of a footlong from Subway, having a 6 inch instead. I am also drinking more water and less coffee and diet sodas. I definitely feel better! I may not have lost a lot of pounds but my stomach is noticeably smaller. People have even noticed and ha... Tue, 15 Jan 2013 10:04:12 EST No more McDonalds ever.....ever ever I swear! I haven't had fast food in a month other then subway. I weak today and got a big mac :( i am paying for it now. I am also out of my stomach pills (I have IBS) so I am laying in bed, in pain, nauseous, and hating myself. Never again, I swear, will I eat anything from McDonald's unless it is a salad in an emergency. Ugh, why did I do this? It even tasted nasty. Nothing bad happened it is just a stressful time of year with everyone's expectations. But I am proud of myself. I only caught myself emotionally eating 3 times and I scolded myself.
