Fri, 25 Jan 2013 17:24:05 EST How I handled Longhorns last night http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5213927 My son was accepted into Advanced Academy (an early entrance to college) yesterday so we went to Longhorns to celebrate. Initially my thought was yikes there's usually a lot of calories involved in going out to eat. So I went straight to the Tracker and put in a 7 ounce salmon, a plain baked potato, and as a treat a 20 ounce Sam Adams.

I did not have bread, I asked for broccoli with no butter for my side. I tracked my food with Spark Trackers and my exercise with fitbit. I am loving fit bit because I can track not only my running, but ballroom dancing, and just walking around running errands. It does add up. I have not been starving because I am eating enough. The hardest thing is making sure I have food at work. Not only do I need food, I need utensils, salt and pepper, splenda etc. I also have to wash the dishes and clean the microwave. Extra s... I have to learn to let stress go as soon as it starts creeping in. Keep my thoughts positive. I love a fresh start. Time to let the last two years go. Goodbye 2011 and Goodbye 2012. Thats because I am not tracking my calories. And I am not tracking because I am being lazy. Yes I am staring a new business, yes it is draining and time consuming; however, there's always going to be something going on. I have to make it a priority! I was talking to a running buddy the other day and told her that I had run my first marathon 22 years ago and that I was 20 pounds... I could look at this as a really negavite total suckage thing. Or, I could look at it as an exciting new opportunity. As I hiked today in the beautiful spring sunshine I thought about what my barriers to positive change were. AND THERE it was staring in my face. FEAR. and over and over I thought to myself-we have nothing to fear but fear itself. the FEAR itself is the enemy not the thing we fear. So I have decided to take a maj... Mon, 31 May 2010 00:09:56 EST bad cold http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3268945 It started while I was clothes shopping, that little tickle at the back of my throat. I was marching all over the mall in high heels having a blast but pushing myself a bit much. I knew I was having allergy reaction or getting a cold. I woke up Sunday morning, just a little sore throat. I still did my 30 day shred video and did some dancing with David. Monday just felt like bad allergies I was dripping and sneezing constantly. Sun, 23 May 2010 18:27:41 EST Need more protein http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3250178 I has been really hard to get my protein up to 60 grams a day. I love lean meats, fish and dairy so I think I just have to focus on making sure they are in the house and eat them. Last night for dinner to up my protein I had a bowl of red beans, Smoked turkey sausage and tuna fish. Weird combination but it did the trick. Now to come up with tastier ways to incorporate that protein. I do find protein is more filling then carbs. Thu, 20 May 2010 11:59:28 EST Feeling good! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3245254 What a difference 30 day shred has made in my life! Only 25 minutes and I feel like I have been pushed beyond my comfort zone. Been doing it for 9 days and I already feel a huge difference in my muscle tone. I have been feeling more in control of life lately. I feel its giving me an edge. My normal go out for a run routine was getting me nowhere. I used to rely exclusively on running for everything-toning, weight loss, mood enhancer etc. Its not enough anymore unless I go into heavy dut... Wed, 19 May 2010 06:45:27 EST May 18 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3242065 Have done 30 day shred for 9 days now. Went to level 2 today-oh my!! Aching Muscles...!!!!!!!######So last week I burned 4000 calories.... Between the shred, hiking, running, dancing and walking. I have kept track of calories for the past week and kept it under 1500 until last night. PMS hit HARD. I had done an intense running work out in the heat for at least 55 minutes. Running pretty hard with jogging or walking breaks for short distances. Ate really super good all day. AND THEN it hit... Tue, 18 May 2010 09:58:22 EST May 13 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3225912 My weight has been fluctuating between 133 and 138 for 6 months or so. It really isn't the weight that is the issue as much as it is the fitness level. My arms are flabbier and my thighs are definitely softer especially the inner thighs. When I really got serious starting around April 21 it only took three weeks to lose an inch off of my arms, hips and waist. Its more about the inches not the pounds Since I am still at 133 pounds. I have started a 30 day shred streak and have done i for ... Thu, 13 May 2010 12:40:11 EST better than I thought http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2772787 Weil I broke down and weighed myself and I only weighed 133-I thought it was going to be 140. How could I be so off!!!! Wed, 20 Jan 2010 14:38:42 EST Starting over http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2767689 I gained weight over the holidays. I am not even sure how much because I haven't weighed myself. I can tell by the way my clothes fit. I am not sure if my strategy of not weighing myself is going to work. In the past weighing myself has been more of a downer than a motivater.

My motivation is that we are going to a dance camp in Las Vegas-hubby and I - and I want to be in excellent shape for that. It is going to be demanding all day lessons/classes for six days. Also opport... Tue, 19 Jan 2010 14:36:37 EST 132.2 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1832438 It seems like I was stuck for 4-5 weeks at the same weight and now all of a sudden I am seeing the scale go down. So strange! Of course I have actually been tracking my food the last two weeks so that could be the magic bullet. Thu, 26 Feb 2009 14:45:23 EST 133.8 baby! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1821799 Today I was shocked at the number on the scale-Last week it was 136. I am not changing my ticker though since it could jump back up. But it is the lowest number I've seen in probably 2 years. Mon, 23 Feb 2009 08:35:15 EST 2/20 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1814349 I went way over my calories last night. The problem was poor planning. I took the pizza's for one and popped them in the oven. OH MY. almost 800 calories 36 grams of fat. So not worth it! I also snacked on croutons instead of carrots - despite the fact that I consumed all that sodium I still didn't gain. Fri, 20 Feb 2009 07:50:08 EST 2/15 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1800741 I have 6 weeks to go before my half marathon run. Today I had a great 9 mile run-I am doing 9:40 minute miles-I was pretty amazed that I was well under 10 minute miles. I started out at a slower pace and that was key to a nice consistent pace.

I decided I want to quit drinking diet coke.
1. Its expensive
2. I am sick of the cans everywhere
3. It may fuel my sweet cravings
4. It's too much caffiene
5. Its got sodium which can lead to bloating
6. I hat... Sun, 15 Feb 2009 16:55:56 EST Changed Weight Goal http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1744004 I changed my goal weight to 128.5. I was on Runners World and saw an article that stated that a 22 is a healthy BMI. I figure this is a good goal that I can sustain over time. No real reason to weigh 125. I am more focused on health and overall toning. Tue, 27 Jan 2009 11:01:14 EST Nutrition Goals http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1738234 I saw on Runners World that runners should aim for a split of 50 percent carbs 25 percent protein and 25 percent fat. I am finding that I am usually a bit higher in carbs. Some ideas to get the carbs down and protein up would be tuna, eggs, nuts, smoothies with yogurt and milk. Also cottage cheese has 25 grams of protein per cup.

I am probably eating too many clif bars. They are my new addiction. They do have 10 grams of protein, however they have 22 grams of sugar-yikes. Its n... Sun, 25 Jan 2009 18:54:52 EST making progress http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1723155 I started this journey on Dec. 26-so its been 26 days. Mostly in the last few weeks I've been tweaking my plan-getting organized-figuring out a strength training plan. Started using the food tracker, fitness tracker etc. Started posting pretty regularly on two teams, less so on another team. I've scrapbooked some of my journey. I took before pics and measurements.

So the bottom line
1. First and foremost I have cut my alcohol way way down. I was drinking 2-4 beers a day ... Wed, 21 Jan 2009 07:56:23 EST Getting organized http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1699687 Well today I got a new franklin planner. I am determined to get more organized. I returned a couple things at the mall. Got a new Magic Bullet for making fresh salsa, spaghetti sauce and smoothies. So excited to try it. I washed my car, vacuumed it and even washed the interior and windows. Its sparkling. I went to my office and cleaned that sucker. Vacuumed, cleaned out the fridge, emptied the trash! Replaced my ink cartridge-got it organized. I got a master grocery list going. And ... Wed, 14 Jan 2009 17:30:03 EST Back to the Grind http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1671237 Joey went back to school today. I had the day off but went and had my hair colored and cut which took 2 hours and then after lunch I was so sleepy I took a very very long nap! When Joey got home he wanted to go for a run with me-we headed out bundled up but it started sleeting. Copper got really dirty and so I had to wash him off-then I cleaned up the house a bit went to the grocery store and made dinner and cleaned up. After that I just didn't feel like doing any of my work out videos. I ... Wed, 7 Jan 2009 21:45:55 EST Jan 6 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1662076 I did an hour of cardio yesterday and lots of errands and was too tired to do day 2 of bootcamp so I will do that today. I'll also do the fruit today. I gained a couple pounds back and was bummed but my clothes fit better so I know its muscle gain. I can't believe how much difference adding weight training has made. I feel so much more solid through my core. It helps my running too. Tue, 6 Jan 2009 07:09:36 EST 1/4/09 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1656023 Started the bootcamp today. I enjoyed the video. My goal this month is to get down to a
weight of 134 by the end of the month. I also want to continue tracking my food and limit my alcohol to one or two drinks per day max.

I went to get more control over our finances by tracking our daily expenses and looking
for investment opportunities. I want to get control over negative thoughts relating to
office politics.

I would like to get organized in my cle... Luckily I had no unpleasant surprises. Everything went smoothly. Last night I had done an ab work out with weights and some upper body work and I am sore. No exercise for me today; the first day in a long time that I haven't at least walked. But after work I was tired and it was rainy and cold. I'll be able to go for a run tomorrow either before or after work. I have been doing very good (for me) with drinking. Only one or two per day exce... I don't put the 55-60 hour weeks into the job like the other partners. I work 40-45 at the most. But I also get paid alot less. Its my choice to make this life work balance.
