I treasure each holiday more as time goes by. My parents and in-laws range in age from 75 to 80. Many of my friends have lost their parents. Mine are all in relatively good health. We went to the Easter buffet at a local restaurant and they are all still able to manage this on their own. They also seem to appreciate life more as they age. It is true when they say "Youth is wasted on the young." Young people cannot appreciate life the way ... Sun, 8 Apr 2012 17:14:15 EST Spring Break - Day Eight - Herb Garden http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4824907 Today I did a workout on the elliptical to start, thirty minutes. This makes three days in a row! I have decided my ankle will swell no matter what I do, so I may as well do what I want! <BR> This afternoon I cut back the herbs in the herb garden. This is one of my favorite tasks. The smell of the lavender, rosemary and sage when I cut them is wonderful! Actually, my rosemary usually dies each winter and I buy new in the spring. But this winter was so mild, even my rosemary survived. T... Sat, 7 Apr 2012 19:34:20 EST Spring Break Day Seven - Retail Therapy http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4823723 I met a girlfriend today for lunch and shopping at Target. There were many pretty spring displays with bright colors and patterns. It was fun just to go and look at it all. You do not need to purchase the items to enjoy looking at them. My major purchase was a boxwood wreath for the back door. This is the door that friends and family use to enter our home and I want it to look nice! Other than this, I purchased only items that we need/use on a regular basis. Just getting to have lunch ... Fri, 6 Apr 2012 19:43:06 EST Spring Break Day Six - Summer Clothes http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4822062 Spring Break is the time when I put away the winter clothes and bring the summer clothes out of the guest room closet. Today's closet cleaning was disappointing. The majority of my summer clothes are size 10 and I am currently size 14. I am twenty pounds over where I need to be in order to wear most of my shorts. I keep trying to lose the weight, but have been unable to exercise the way I need to due to joint problems. I did 25 minutes on the elliptical this morning, but it caused some ... Thu, 5 Apr 2012 15:13:49 EST Spring Break Day Five - Girlfriends http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4820736 I have a group of friends who try to get together once a month for dinner. We all work at different schools and do not see each other often. Since this week is Spring Break, we met at Cheddars for lunch. Everytime we get together we say "We need to do this more often!" It is a great stress release to meet together and share stories. Everyone had a concern to share and many laughs were shared also. The fish tacos at Cheddars were very good. The beans and rice a little too salty for my tas... Wed, 4 Apr 2012 18:38:54 EST Spring Break Day Four - Gardening Workout http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4819103 The weather was beautiful today and I spent my first day working in the garden this spring. It was great to be working outside again. I cut back perennials, weeded and removed leaves from three of the front flower beds. Then, I applied fertilizer and weed preventer. The discouraging part was when I started trying to move around 2 cubic feet bags of mulch. I have not gotten as much exercise this winter as last, due to joint problems. I really felt the loss of muscle when I started workin... Tue, 3 Apr 2012 19:23:49 EST Spring Break Day Three - Progress http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4817387 OK, day three of break and I finally feel like doing something! The cable guy came at 8 a.m. to fix the digital box. I cleaned the bathroom and then got started on the family room. I cleaned the upholstery on my husband's recliner (it gets alot of use!) and scrubbed the grout on the tile. Both were much needed and look alot better now! In the living room I realized everything had not been put back since Christmas. I completed the seasonal chore of changing the lamp oil from holiday red ... Mon, 2 Apr 2012 19:27:15 EST
