I was very close to a dealership, but still had to be towed. I am trusting that the problem will be resolved today. Thu, 27 Oct 2016 07:18:11 EST Day 26 - 100 Days of Gratitude http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6257421 I am grateful to have a good friend like the one I am spending the time with this week. Things were not as we expected when we arrived for the burial, and it had to be delayed until today. She made feel that I really made it easier by being here for her during this trying time, and that was actually my intention. Wed, 26 Oct 2016 11:52:05 EST Day 24 - 100 Days of Gratitude http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6256744 It's early morning; I'm still kind of groggy. I have to soon start the 2 1/2 hour drive to meet my friend for the burial service. I am very grateful that, even with the cool temps, no rain is forecast for today. I love a nice, sunny day for a long drive. I'll have my jazz playing and my foot in the tank! Tue, 25 Oct 2016 06:49:41 EST Day 23 - 100 Days of Gratitude http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6256309 I am grateful that my buying-spree is over. QVC caught me in its web, bound me up and hypnotized me yesterday during it's Christmas (imagine) extravaganza sale with 6 monthly pays. I resisted the gorgeous $400+ Christmas tree with the Bethlehem lights, but I fell under the spell of the lowest-I've-seen prices for some appliances I've been wanting to prepare my new healthful diet: the Vitamix and the Air-Fryer.... and some Lock & Lock containers to take it all to work for my lunch. OK, don... There have been so many guests who have shared their life's experiences and the wisdom gained from them. It has opened me up to new ways of viewing and experiencing life that make it more meaningful and purposeful for me. Sun, 23 Oct 2016 15:01:39 EST Day 21 - 100 Days of Gratitude http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6255436 I am grateful for my love of travel and exploration. I love to dream about it, plan it, save for it, and actually visit as many places both new and old as I can. I fit in as many trips as I can each year. I think I just love to GO. A friend and I are going to a city just 2 1/2 hour's drive away, and we're going to take a few days to just explore that city, even though it's fairly well known to both of us. Travel and exploration spell F-U-N for me. Sat, 22 Oct 2016 14:03:05 EST Day 20 - 100 Days of Gratitude http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6254845 I am grateful that I have found peace in retirement. I was afraid to do it. The unknown--what would I do, where would I live, would I be happy, would I feel trapped and not be able to travel if I took on part-time work? Turns out there was nothing to fear but fear itself. (Franklin D. Roosevelt) I enjoy having the time to "do lunch" with my friends in town, participate in volunteer projects, and to go to nearby cities to take in the art fairs and concerts. I am taking off next week to me... We don't live in the same city, so we really enjoy our time together. I'm an easy-going person--most of the time, and so is he--most of the time. Still it never ceases to amaze me how generally differently men and women see and interpret things in our world. Our brains, and usually our hearts, just don't work the same way, and it usually takes us a lifetime to finally just accept that. It's an education to watch men deal with the world, an... It's a work in progress, but yesterday I went to the paint store and was told it was best not to buy the combination paint/primer I had in mind, but to buy them separately. I picked up some other things while waiting for my color to be mixed, and noticed the paint person seemed to be working alone, waiting on customers in the aisles as well. I paid for my purchases and got all the way to my car before I realized he hadn't given me the primer he ... Wed, 19 Oct 2016 10:24:37 EST Day 17 - 100 Days of Gratitude http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6253395 I am so very grateful for another Indian Summer day of 76 degrees today--extremely unusual this far into October. The weather seems to give us extremes recently. Last year this time, we had a fluke knee-deep snow storm. With all the errands I have to do today, I much prefer this extreme. Tue, 18 Oct 2016 09:27:52 EST Day 16 - 100 Days of Gratitude http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6253067 I am grateful to have a boss who is reasonable, easy, and even enjoyable to talk to, and who is just likeable. I retired 1 1/2 years ago, but while I was volunteering in public school administration, I was asked to stay on part time. I did so only because I really like interacting with the people in our office. I look forward to my work days. Today was National Boss's Day, and we took ours to lunch. He was so appreciative. He makes us feel good. It was fun to just sit and talk with him... I am increasing my practice of meditation to keep me mindful of the present moment rather than of my hopes for the future or what I feel I SHOULD be doing in the present. I AM, and that is enough. Sat, 15 Oct 2016 11:17:13 EST Day 13 - 100 Days of Gratitude http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6251481 I am Soooo grateful that I have discovered a strength-training routine that I can sustain and see benefits from. It is a super slow, super exhausting routine, using only 5 machines once a week, so with very short periods of rest between each, it takes about 20 minutes to complete. The remainder of the week is for resting, repairing and "growing." You-Tube videos showed me the benefits and techniques. Soooo thankful. I feel so good after that hour and a half of stretching my body with intention. Does the body GOOD! But somehow having walls and a ceiling makes it look like it's progressing on its way. And so... I'm grateful. Yesterday the scale said I was up just .8 lb from goal. I was about to write today that I was grateful for that... but something told me to check my weight again just to be sure I wasn't writing a lie. And sure enough, I weighed in at 1.8 lbs from goal today. WHAAT?! I walked 3 miles yesterday, hit my 10,000+ steps, even though I was at a computer most of the day, and I ate my veggies & soup as usual!!! Well, I don't f... Tue, 11 Oct 2016 07:57:20 EST Day 9 - 100 Days of Gratitude http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6249249 I am so grateful that Matthew seems to be going out to sea for good, and not doubling back to plague again our Southeastern families. I am praying that no more lives will be lost in floods and aftermath of this disaster. Mon, 10 Oct 2016 09:32:37 EST Day 8 - 100 Days of Gratitude http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6249244 I am so very grateful for my grand children. They are bright, caring, curious, loving and fun-loving. Yeah, I know -- I just described all the grand children in the world, but I am very glad to have mine. Here is a picture they had their mom take to send just to me.

Mon, 10 Oct 2016 09:26:14 EST Day 7 - 100 Days of Gratitude http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6248431 I am grateful for my two wonderful children, Lisa and Marc. They have brought me much joy over the years. They are good, loving, caring adults just as they were as children. The world is definitely better for having them here.
Thanks be to God. Sat, 8 Oct 2016 16:55:22 EST Day 6 - 100 Days of Gratitude http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6247756 I am truly grateful that I happened upon this toddler's Morning Affirmation. I hope every parent will reaffirm and reaffirm this sentiment to each child individually. It is so important that children know that a parent thinks this about them. It is so important that every person grows up with this implanted in his/her brain. Even grown-ups need reminding after we or others beat us down.

"I am Strong. I am Amazing. Fri, 7 Oct 2016 08:37:10 EST Day 5 - 100 Days of Gratitude http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6247202 I'm grateful for one more surprise day of 80-degree sunshine. It's what we call Indian Summer in the Midwest -- a surprise freebie in the midst of typical fall temps. Time to get in a 1/2 hour of doing just hills -- my brand of interval training in my neighborhood. Thank you, Mother Nature! Thu, 6 Oct 2016 08:05:17 EST Day 4 - 100 Days of Gratitude http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6246740 No more griping about the cool/cold weather in Michigan. I've been here for over 50 years. I certainly do know what to expect. I'm grateful to have the ability to enjoy my time in a temperate climate when the weather is to my liking, and to leave the cold when I want to. Life is good. Wed, 5 Oct 2016 10:59:05 EST Day 3 - 100 Days of Gratitude http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6246042 No more griping about how slowly my basement remodel is progressing. I am so blessed.
Tue, 4 Oct 2016 02:20:21 EST Day 2 - 100 Days of Gratitude http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6245803 I am grateful to be able to witness the joy, pride and sense of success that my youngest, my son, has just been able to reveal. He has gracefully endured heart-rending struggles with his young children and his job through the years, and is now able to bask in the feeling that through his tenacity and hard work, he has triumphed. He is being rewarded heartily in so many ways, and I am so happy for him. Thank you, Lord. I am now back to Eat to Live and will stay with it because I now understand that this plan not only has been dropping my weight so fast that you'd think I was on an unsustainable fad diet, but it is the ultimate in nutrition -- so much so that Dr. Fuhrman's patients and many others have reversed serious illnesses with it. For the first time in my life I'm not stepping on the scale every morning. I'm in a challenge that requires me to weigh once a week, and that's enough.
