My Saturday weigh-in revealed that I gained .4 lbs. While that's not bad, especially for my birthday week, it's not the direction I want to be going.
I haven't really been tracking my food and exercise and I know better! Like I said, it was my birthday on Thursday. Although I didn't have any cake, I did get taken out to lunch. Then this weekend, I got taken out for Basque food, family-style dining. Although I didn't go totally nuts, they give you a l... Tue, 5 Feb 2013 15:21:11 EST A Betty Crocker Kind of Day http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5226346 When I weighed in on Saturday, my weight was down, but only by 1.4 lbs. I'm so close to 10 lbs. down. I knew my loss would be lower than the last 2 weeks because I had a few drinks this week and I usually don't drink. Also, I went out to stay at my friend's house and he lives 2 and 1/2 hours away. That's a lot of inactivity just sitting in the car.
I got my ingredients and this weekend I made 4 recipes to be used for meals throughout the week. One is Hoisin-Ginger Pulled Chicken Sliders.... Sun, 27 Jan 2013 22:56:55 EST Going Well http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5215766 So, I'm happy to say that things are going well "on my own".
For the most part I've been eating meals I make at home. I try to make up some recipes on the weekend. And since I'm a singleton, a couple of recipes at 4 servings each is enough for me for the week.
I've also been wearing my BodyMedia Fit armband and logging my meals there. The prep and logging my meals does take more time, but it truly has helped. My first week I lost 4.8 lbs! And this week I lost 3.2!
I'm very plea... Sun, 20 Jan 2013 15:48:15 EST Going to the gym is bad for my health http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5192927 Wow, as always I have had a crazy December. Long story short, I got in a car accident - on my way home from the gym! - on December 8 and just last weekend purchased another car. Between there, it's been dealing with insurance, paperwork, doctor visits, car shopping, making sure I had a way to get around. Sufficed to say, my focus has not been on eating healthy and working out.
My previous vehicle that was wrecked was paid off. Now that I got a new (used) vehicle, I will have a car paymen... Sun, 6 Jan 2013 11:01:56 EST Goal Achieved http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5139757 Yesterday I earned my black belt in tae kwon do!
This has been a long time in coming. I started in tae kwon do in 2009 and honestly never thought I'd get to the point where I'd be testing for a black belt. Just because I'm not naturally a fighter or terribly coordinated for that matter; however, as I kept practicing, I learned there's much more to tae kwon do than meets the eye.

As I said in my last blog, I've been really concentrating on this test and my regular routine has k... Sun, 18 Nov 2012 21:33:23 EST Lost in Indulgence http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5115679 I'm having a tough time right now.
I can definitely see how stress is affecting my health efforts. I get into this frame of mind where I just don't care, well, until I'm down to only a couple of pairs of pants that I can wear because all the rest are way too snug.
My supervisor has been on vacation for the last 2 weeks. That paired with some other employees being gone meant some extra work fell to me. I ended up coming in early and/or staying late every day. I normally go to the gym... Sun, 28 Oct 2012 14:18:15 EST Been A While http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5051497 Wow, I just got back on my page. I hadn't realized how long it had been since I'd checked in.
I'm pretty much back to my normal routine exercise-wise. Over the summer, my back went out a couple of times and I had to lay off the exercise to let it get back to normal. While it was nice to have a break, I got antsy really quickly.
I'm dealing with some stress right now, which I know has a lot to do with my eating habits. Work's been very busy and it seems no matter how hard I work, I'm... Sun, 9 Sep 2012 19:55:36 EST WLC - Week 2 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4768474 I just had my 2 week weigh in of the weight loss challenge. I'm doing well. The first week I lost 2 pounds and the second week 2.5.
They post the weights by participant number. Some people lost 5 or 6 pounds in their first week! In the back of my mind, that discourages me. I'm not putting up those kind of numbers. What chance do I have of winning. But then I rationalize it. All except 4 participants started out at a higher weight than me. So maybe their 5 pounds is the same percentage as... Sat, 3 Mar 2012 11:20:47 EST Weight Loss Challenge http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4731614 When the holidays came around - yes way back in November, I kind of gave myself permission to not be super strict. I wasn't purposely going overboard with my food choices, but I wasn't going to worry too much about it. I kept up on my exercise pretty well, but now it's February and I STILL haven't gotten back into the swing of things. From the numbers on the scale going up and up and 49 , I need to get back to logging my foods.
Sooo, at my gym, they're starting a weight loss ch... Thu, 9 Feb 2012 23:54:31 EST Which gym do I choose http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4453188 Well, I've been at my current gym (Fitness for 10) for over 10 years. I like it, but there have definitely been some changes over the years. It's changed names 3 times, owners multiple times, fees, locations. I'm a classes kind of exerciser. I like to take all sorts of different classes at the gym, but rarely use the rest of the equipment in the gym. There's another gym (Gold's Gym) that recently moved closer and one of my favorite instructors went to work there. I got a 14-day pass to try ou... Sun, 28 Aug 2011 18:25:50 EST New Class = Results http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4427952 Hello,
I haven't checked in to Sparkpeople in quite a while, which doesn't mean that I've been slacking on my fitness goals!
My weight's been up and down as usual. I have been taking a new class and seeing great results. On Fridays, there's a class called Body Conditioning. It's has music, weight lifting, a little cardio, various toning exercises. It's taught by a guy who's a personal trainer also and in a lot of ways it reminds me of a personal training session. He's always changin... Mon, 15 Aug 2011 10:38:23 EST Complete a 5K Check! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4203118 Today was the big day. I completed my first 5K.
It was the Reno Rock-n-River 5K. They also had other races going on. Who knows, maybe next year, I'll be in the 10K group or . . .
Anyway, other than getting up early to get there and it being a little cold to start, I enjoyed it. This is the 4th year of this event and it's very well-organized. I got a great shirt, a medal for participating and a bunch of freebies at the pre-race expo and the race itself. They even had music going on ... Sun, 1 May 2011 20:13:46 EST Off Track http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4137020 This past week or so has just been crazy for me and unfortunately, I fell back into some old habits and that "This is a special occasion. I don't have to be responsible." attitude.
We had a potluck at work and I just didn't make the best decisions. Then my boyfriend was in town, so we did some eating out and just spending time together, which meant I skipped out on some of my normal workouts. Usually, I plan pretty well and don't get too far off track. If I'm visiting him or vice versa, ... Sat, 2 Apr 2011 16:02:52 EST Broke into the 150s! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4114217 I weighed today and I'm at 159! Officially in the 150s. I'm excited. Less than 10 pounds from my goal weight. I tried on a dress I haven't worn in many, many years & it almost zips all the way. Just a little more to go. Tried on some jeans I haven't worn in a while (because I couldn't get the two sides to meet, much less button) and I can button and zip them & even breathe once they're on.
I've been working hard with my exercise and trying to keep my calories at a reasonable level. I was... Thu, 24 Mar 2011 00:26:45 EST 1st Day to a 5K http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4074955 One of my goals is to run a 5K. Although I do exercise, I'm very much not a runner, so this will be tough for me. I thought it would be a good way to challenge myself and give me a sense of accomplishment.
So, I signed up for a 5K set for May 1st. I found an 8-week training schedule for novice runners and started today.
It called for a 1.5 mile run. I got up early this morning, put my dog on his leash and set out. I had already mapped our route with one of Sparkpeople's tools.
... Tue, 8 Mar 2011 00:37:50 EST
