But, I might be able to squeeze in something else later today. The workout I did today was one of my favorites... and it's a killer! It's Fitness Blender's "16 Minute Bicep & Tricep Super Set Workout - Resistance Band Exercises." Whew!!! (Remember, these are FREE online! And I love 'em!)

I hope everyone has a great Friday & wonderful weekend!

Day 75... WORKOUT COMPLETE!! Fri, 9 May 2014 09:49:31 EST What's an "Easy" Workout? (Day 74 of 100) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5690462 I did an 'easy' workout today working my glutes and a little stretching. In 32 minutes, I only burned 125 calories. 40

But, yesterday's comments had me questioning what I've been doing. I know you are supposed to have 'easy' days and 'hard' days. But, I think that about 90% of my workouts are hard. I almost always push myself really hard. When I was running, I would run 3 days a week. But, during each run I was pushing myself pretty hard. So, maybe I need to learn how ... Thu, 8 May 2014 10:37:22 EST More Energy? Or Less? (Day 73 of 100) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5689721 I just finished my workout. I did 30 minutes of kettlebell & 20 minutes of HIIT with Fitness Blender & burned almost 400 calories.

I have been on this 'journey' almost 4 years. I have heard so many times that working out gives you more energy. But, so far, I find just the opposite! I'm worn out when I exercise! But, maybe 'they' mean overall? Yes, if I went on a vacation right now, I'd probably have more energy than 4 years ago. But, day to day? If I've worked out, then I'm tired! ... Wed, 7 May 2014 11:18:48 EST Pyramid Workout on Trainer (Day 72 of 100) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5688849 As my husband is still working long hours, I had to do this morning's workout at home. But, it was a GREAT workout!

I once again pulled my trainer outside & set up my bicycle. I 'made up' the following pyramid workout: the 'fast' workouts are 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 minutes each. In between I rode easy for 1 minute (though I rode easy 2 minutes twice). I also started with a 5 minute warm up and ended with a 5 minute cool down. That put my workout right at 45 minutes and I burned ... Tue, 6 May 2014 10:42:03 EST Jumping Rope... 1200 (12*100) with Only ONE Miss! (Day 71 of 100) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5687908 I didn't jump rope last week, but I did the previous two weeks. My 'most jumps' was 7 sets of 100 for 700 total jumps. Well, today I tried a new rope & it fits me better & works better! And, I only have to move my wrist, not my arm! I was doing terrific!

I ended up doing 12 sets of 100 jumps each... and only missed one time! 244 After each set (which takes about 70 seconds), I give myself about a minute to recover. My heart rate is usually in the high 160's & I try to ... Mon, 5 May 2014 10:13:17 EST Missed a Day :( (Days 66-70 of 100) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5687903 Yes, I finally 'messed up' and missed a day. I struggled with working out much of last week. On Saturday, my plan was to go with the cycling group and do 25 miles.... maybe even 40. But, am I also passionate about my 'hobby' (genealogy) and we were having our last meeting before the summer break. I got up at 5:30 to get ready to ride... and went back to bed at 6:00 having decided I really didn't want to ride and I really wanted to go to that meeting.

And, I'm glad I did! It was won... Mon, 5 May 2014 10:08:34 EST 5 Minute Runs (Day 65 of 100) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5683200 I got up an hour early to go to the gym this morning & run on the treadmill before hubby went to work. My run was just so-so. I didn't quite meet my goals. I did four 5-minute runs during a 3 mile run/walk. It just never felt 'great' & it was pretty hard. But, I completed my workout! (My duathlon is in 12 days!)

On another note, I'm pitching my digital scale. It's only about 6 months old but it is crazy! It is now showing I weigh 5 pounds more than my husband's 'old fashioned', non... Tue, 29 Apr 2014 13:27:08 EST Feeling a Little Burned Out (Day 64 of 100) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5682218 I'm feeling kind of burned out today, but hopefully it's just my body telling me I need some rest. I had two hard workouts this weekend and have been going strong the past couple of weeks.

I did a 22 minute strength workout this morning. I have been aiming for 300 calories burned per day but have only burned 100 so far. But, I'm done. If I feel like it later, I will do something else. If not, that's fine, too. I think I just need some down time.

Day 64... WORKOUT COMPLET... Mon, 28 Apr 2014 09:29:58 EST A Tough Run (Day 63 of 100) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5681579 I went out for a run this morning as the weekends are so much easier to workout outside. (My husband works long hours & my daughter is homeschooled.) I probably should've taken it easy after yesterday's long ride, but I ran. During the first few minutes, I thought about heading back home. I just decided to run only a minute at a time and just walk it if I had to. Oh, and it was really windy & I started out going into the wind!

After about 10 minutes or so, I was feeling better and ... Sun, 27 Apr 2014 12:12:17 EST A 41 Mile Ride... WooHoo!! (Day 62 of 100) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5681184 Today I showed up for my local group ride expecting to do 25 miles. I've only rode once in the past 3 months or so, and it was a 25 miler. But, today there was another 'no drop' group doing 40. Well, I jumped in and did it!

It was totally overcast and in the 70's, though it felt cooler. We ride out on country roads and the wind was a factor. (I'm guessing 10 mph or so?) There were only 5 of us in the group (3 women/2 men) and it depended on who was leading whether we were doing 15 ... Sat, 26 Apr 2014 20:30:20 EST "Rest" Day... So, easy pilates/yoga (Day 61 of 100) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5681175 Friday was my 'rest day', but I'm still working on my streak (61 days!) of at least 10 minutes of working out every day for 100 days. So, I went on Fitness Blender & did my 'stand by' 10 minute workout... their "stress buster" pilates & yoga workout which is just about 10 minutes.

Day 61... WORKOUT COMPLETE!! Sat, 26 Apr 2014 20:19:05 EST 20 Minutes without Walking! (Day 60 of 100) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5679410 I got up an hour early to get to the gym before my husband left for work. I warmed up on the treadmill for 5 minutes having a little issue with my foot. Twice I stopped to retie my shoe. Finally, my foot felt 'normal' & I was ready to run.

I usually do a run/walk, and I think there is a lot of wisdom in that! But, if I want to run with the half marathon group this fall, I need to get to where I pretty much just run. On Sunday, I ran 1.5 miles with my sister-in-law in an amazing (fo... Thu, 24 Apr 2014 11:12:56 EST 1 Mile Run (Day 59 of 100) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5678981 I started the day with some lower body/core work using Fitness Blender. Later this morning, my daughter said she'd like to try running! So, we changed clothes, put on some tennis shoes, and headed out. We ran and walked and ran and walked... By the way, she's a much faster runner than I am! We were going at a pace of 8:45-9:45 when we ran! But, they were short runs. And... she decided she doesn't like running. 39

Anyway, we completed a mile in about 12:30 even with a l... Wed, 23 Apr 2014 20:53:40 EST Cycling Trainer Workout (Day 58 of 100) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5678155 I started the day with Jillian Michael's "Ripped" video. It is intense and follows a 3-2-1 pattern. You do 3 minutes of strength; two minutes of cardio; and one minute of abs. You do a total of 4 rounds. I've done the video 4 or 5 times over the past year or so and find it hard, but actually not that enjoyable. I thought I'd try it again today. I still don't really enjoy it, but it was a great workout.

Then, this afternoon, I toted my trainer out into the backyard again and 'rode'!... Tue, 22 Apr 2014 19:56:31 EST x700 Jump Rope! (Day 57 of 100) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5676951 Whew!! My arms are shaking. I started my workout with 7 sets of 100 jumps using my jump rope each. Then I'd walk around for a minute. It took 23 minutes to do the 700. I did two sets without missing! But, I missed 6-7 times my last set. Yes, I was feeling the fatigue! And, my heart rate went up with each set. It started in the 150's & hit a high of 174! I don't think I'll move past 700 for awhile. (I did 500 about a week and a half ago.)

Then, I did a Fitness Blender upper body rou... She's the one who got me started losing weight & running almost 4 years ago! She just won a lottery spot in the Chicago Marathon (which will be her 3rd marathon!) and she's just starting to train. So, we went for a run today! We haven't run together in a long time.

I do a run/walk usually, but thought I'd try to stick with her. It's a small town so we ran on the wide shoulder of a highway. We ran str... Sun, 20 Apr 2014 21:25:58 EST Easy Easter Weekend Workouts (Days 53, 54, & 55 of 100) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5676605 We visited family for Easter weekend. It was hard, but I got in between 10-15 minutes each day, Thursday through Saturday. (I'll post about today, Sunday, in a minute.) One day, I had to 'hide' in the utility room to do my workout at 9:30 pm! 334 I'm disappointed I didn't do more those days, but happy to still be on my streak! And, we had a lot of fun!! Sun, 20 Apr 2014 21:20:34 EST First Time on Trainer (Day 52 of 100)... with 1st photo in a long time! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5673819 So, it's GORGEOUS out! It was 37 last night, but warmed up in the low 70's. I waited until after school (we homeschool) to do my exercise. I took my trainer out by the pool & rode!

I wasn't sure what to do on the trainer. I tried a couple of YouTube videos, but didn't find anything I really enjoyed. I tried a podcast, but again didn't really care for it. I finally ended up with my own music just doing my own thing. Sometimes I'd pedal hard for 10 seconds & go easy for 50. Sometimes... Wed, 16 Apr 2014 19:37:14 EST Trying Tae Bo (Day 51 of 100) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5672755 Yesterday was pretty bad, but today's a new day!

I started out with about 8 minutes of kettlebell (including a warm up, so not a lot of kettlebell). My back was bothering me just a bit so I decided to stop for today.

I got online and wanted to try something different. I came across a Tae Bo workout with Billy Banks. It was fun! And, a lot more energetic & feeling like I was part of a group than when I workout with Fitness Blender. But, I also felt there was a lot of down... Tue, 15 Apr 2014 11:16:43 EST Should've Rested (Day 50 of 100) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5671843 I worked out so hard this weekend (25 mile bike ride when I haven't been riding; 3 mile run when I haven't been running; then brick workout when I haven't been doing that, either! I did cardio for 27 minutes this morning, but I just couldn't keep it up. My goal is 300 calories per day & I only burned 200. But, I might do something light later. If not, I'm way above average for the past 3 days (I've burned 1700 instead of my goal of 900). And, my daughter might want to go to the gym today. If ... I did a brick workout with my friend who's training for her first triathlon. And, I guess I'm officially training for my second duathlon! She came over to my house & I taught her some about the world of triathlons and then we did the following:

run .33 miles (10:52 pace)
bike 2.5 miles (13. 1 pace)
run .33 miles (10:29 pace)
bike 2.5 miles (forgot to hit start)
run .33 miles (10:08 pace)

This was a tough workou... (Day 49 of 100) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5671125 I carpooled with my friend to the bike ride yesterday. I knew she was training for her first triathlon, but didn't know when or where it'd be. Well, it turns out it's the same place/group that I did my first duathlon with this past fall! And, it's a "super"sprint, so really short. And now, I'm thinking about joining her! I'd be doing the du, not the tri. And, I know I could complete it right now, so it's just a matter of training to do it better. (The du is 0.5 mile run/8 mile ride/2 mile run... Sun, 13 Apr 2014 11:40:44 EST Riding "in" the MS150 (Day 48 of 100) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5671120 No, I didn't ride the MS150 here in Texas this weekend. But, I did join my cycling group of a ride - I haven't rode with them in about 2 months! And, we drove by one of the 3 starts for the MS150 which goes from Houston to Austin. Well, they were starting! And, we merged in behind a group of them for about half a mile before they turned and we headed straight. We also saw some when we stopped for our rest at a gas station. I wished them all a "great ride!"

Anyway, I ended up joinin... I do this workout at least twice a week. It's very relaxing and, at the same time, I'm stretching & doing some light strength training. Ready for a busy weekend!

Day 47... (Day 46 of 100) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5668907 I started the day with a warm up and then did some lower body strength training concentrating on glutes. Then, I did a kettlebell workout... with modifications! I only have one kettlebell and it is too heavy for some of the exercises. So, I used dumbbells! It worked great! And, I reached my goal of at least 300 calories burned.

The "Bonus Workouts" were from yesterday. First, my daughter is learning to skateboard and we went on a 'walk' together. I walked briskly with her for about... That's CRAZY!! We had a rough weekend and we ended up going to two movies and I ate lots of popcorn and some candy. I had too many desserts, etc. And, last night we went out for Mexican food & I ate a ton of chips.

Here's the worst part... I was thrilled 5 days ago to be down almost 5 pounds since I started my 100 day challenge. But, today, I'm back up THREE POUNDS!!! UGH!!! I'm hoping a little bit is just water weight from the popcorn ... It is the 'core' of my workouts right now! And, I fill like I'm really getting fit! I actually bought a paid 8 week plan from them. I think it was less than $15. Anyway, I love that you do cardio, strength training, and stretching practically every day! So, I feel like I'm getting a great variety!

At times in the past I focused on only cardio (like running) or mostly strength training (like when I had a pers... I bought a kettlebell this weekend and used the free DVD to learn the exercises tonight. I did 20 minutes... quite a bit of just learning, but then a short, but hard, 10 minute workout. I'll be skipping some of the exercise that are not for people with bad backs or shoulder issues! Trying to stay safe!

Day 43... WORKOUT COMPLETE!! We got a call that kind of turned our world upside down for a bit. Thankfully, the world is now back on track, but it was a tough weekend. I almost gave myself permission to not work out... and that would have been ok. But, instead I ended up doing an easy 12-14 minutes session of yoga/Pilates both days. And, I enjoyed it and felt better afterwards!

Today was still a little crazy & I haven't worked out... yet!!! But, things are so much better now & I WILL ge... BUT... at least I'm not gaining! And, while I'm on day 40, I didn't get 'serious' until the last couple of weeks. And, I had 4 days at Disney & 3 at my mom's. And, I'm still eating poorly! So, though I'm not thrilled, I AM thrilled that I'm LOSING and no longer GAINING! And, my clothes fit better & I look more fit. And, I can workout harder & longer than before! My goal is 300 per day, 6 days a week. I'm doing great!

One of the workouts was a beginner kettlebell workout. I don't have a kettlebell, but they said you could substitute dumbbells, which I did. It worked out fine! But, I think I could use a heavier weight. The first was a very hard "beginner" stability workout. It was tough not to fall over... and my muscles were screaming! The second was a toning & cardio video.

As I've mentioned multiple times, these videos are FREE & online! Along with a lot of other information, they give a range of calories you could burn while doing the video. Then, I went outside with my jump rope.

Yesterday, while doing intervals of 1 minutes each with the jump rope, I did 75 jumps without stopping! Well, I decided to see if I could do 100 today... and I DID!!! My goal was to do 5 sets of 100 jumps each and see how well I could do. It's called "Jump Rope Weight Loss Routine." The 20 minute routine took me 30 minutes because I had to hit pause so many times. But, I ended up burning almost 250 calories in half an hour! (And then I did a 12 minute upper body workout, too).

I did a lot of jumping rope when I was young. In fact, the only sports trophy I ever won was for jumping rope! I barely got my workouts in, but I did. On Saturday, I did a 10 minute pilates/yoga Fitness Blender workout with my mom and she was encouraged to start working out again! On Sunday, I went with a walk with my 16-year-old niece and my daughter. It wasn't really active, but we probably did a mile AND it was a great time out-of-doors with two teens whom I love. So, I'm going to count it! Oh, and we also kicked a... Wed, 26 Mar 2014 16:57:09 EST No Burpeee Workout (Day 27 of 100) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5653754 I did a 33 minute Fitness Blender workout this morning. It was intense! But, this one had 'no burpees' in the title & I enjoyed that! I didn't have to come up with a modification when they started doing burpees! The last 6 minutes were stretching & I really enjoyed that.

Now, off to start a busy weekend!

Day 27... WORKOUT COMPLETE!! Sat, 22 Mar 2014 08:31:00 EST 400+ Jumping Jacks! (Day 26 of 100) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5653136 Working out is definitely becoming a habit! I almost skipped this morning as I was busy doing something 'fun', but I finally made myself put it away and do my workout!

This workout was about 30 minutes and it went back & forth between either burpees or jumping jacks and abdominal workout. Well, since I can't do burpees, I did jumping jacks every time! So, it was 16 'rounds' of 20-25 jumping jacks each. Plus, I didn't realize that's what I'd be doing for today's workout, so my warm ... Fri, 21 Mar 2014 10:48:54 EST Each Workout is Exhausting... but Good! (Day 25 of 100) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5652302 A 25 day streak... wow!

I just finished today's workout using two more Fitness Blender videos. The first was a 33 minute cardio workout then a 20 minute upper body workout with the last 4 minutes devoted to stretching. Each day I do these workouts, I feel like I won't be able to finish. But, I keep pushing through! I'm sitting here... exhausted... but I need to get to the rest of my day. And, I feel great! (Besides being worn out.)

I hope everyone gets in at least 10 min... Thu, 20 Mar 2014 10:24:50 EST So CLOSE!!! It's motivating! (Day 24 of 100) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5651446 I was pleasantly shocked at the scale this morning... it's finally moving! And, I've now lost almost 3 pounds! (2.8) The bad news... my 'new high' was only reached about 2 weeks ago, so I'm losing off those extra pounds. The good news... I'm at 150.2.... SO CLOSE to the 140's! And, yes, that's motivating me!!! Let's do it! (More sad news... I was down to 130.5 three years ago & staying around 133-135 for a year. So, I've got a long ways to go. But, I've got to look forward!)

Today'... Wed, 19 Mar 2014 10:02:59 EST Modification is Crucial! (Day 23 of 100) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5650664 Today I did three Fitness Blender workouts - a 26 minute cardio, a 20 minute abdominal, & a 4 minute stretching.

The 'ab' workout made me want to cry! 46 It was so tough!!

The cardio workout made me have to think! 58 I have quite a few 'issues' with my body & there are things I just can't do - like mountain climbers & burpees. This video had LOTS of things I couldn't do - so I kept thinking of other things that would work well & modified as I s... Yeah!

Today, I didn't get to do my workout until this evening. I did 20 minutes of cardio & 20 minutes of lower body pilates. The Fitness Blender workout I did today was GREAT!!! It's called "Calorie Burning Cardio Boot Camp Workout." You can go to www.fitnessblender.com & then "search" workouts for that name. It was quite a workout!

I'm still doing poorly with eating. I know it's stress. I need to find a way to handle stress better - es... Mon, 17 Mar 2014 22:38:37 EST A Very Short Bike Ride & 44 minutes of Fitness Blender (Day 21 of 100) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5649379 The sun is getting ready to set, but I thought I'd go for a quick bike ride. I knew it was windy & kind of cold, but I underestimated it. I didn't dress appropriately & I sure felt that wind! Whew! I get ear aches really easily & I didn't cover them for the ride. Ouch! They are really hurting! In fact, that's why I had to stop. I'm just hoping they stop hurting quickly!

I also did two Fitness Blender workouts. The first was an 'ab' workout where you did all the workouts standing. T... Sun, 16 Mar 2014 20:10:47 EST A 3 Mile Run...in the Rain!! (Day 20 of 100) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5648343 Today's run was the longest I've done in months! And, I feel so dedicated... it rained (very lightly) from the time I got in my car until after my run was done. And yet, I still did it!

For my own records... I pretty much did a run 2 min/walk 1 min the entire time. I warmed up the first mile and did it in about 15 minutes.

Mile 1: 15:00
Mile 2: 12:48
Mile 3: 12:28

I did two "3 minute runs" during the last mile where I was running at about a 10:30 pa... I'm now using one of their 'paid' plans (I think it was $10 for 8 weeks of weight loss workouts.) All of the videos are free, but I paid for them to plan my days out.

Anyway, I started with about 20 minutes of cardio, then 30 minutes of arms, then 10 minutes of stretching. I'm exhausted! I was tired during both the cardio & strength training. Whew!

I don't know if I can fit an hour most mornings, but I can always split th... Fri, 14 Mar 2014 10:17:54 EST The Ugly Truth (Day 18 of 100) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5646873 Here's the Ugly Truth I'm facing this week... you can't out-exercise a bad diet.

After 17 days of working out at least 10 minutes a day, I've actually GAINED two pounds! Yes, I'm SICK about it!! (But, I hope I've also learned my lesson.)

On Monday night, my daughter was having a sleepover so I headed to the gym. I haven't been to a group exercise class in months. I was so sad & angry at what I saw in the mirror! I was a size 8!!! And, the last time I went to a class I wa... Thu, 13 Mar 2014 10:49:28 EST Day 17 of 100 (Ballet Barre workout) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5646537 I didn't do my workout until about 9 pm, but I got it done! I started with a different Fitness Blender workout, but only did about 7 minutes of it. I ended up doing most of the "At Home Total Body Barre Workout" which is 15 minutes. (I think my total workout was about 18 minutes.)

This was a GREAT workout for my hips which I have issues with anyway. So, it was a great workout for me! I bet I'll feel it tomorrow.

Day 17... WORKOUT COMPLETE!! Wed, 12 Mar 2014 22:29:28 EST
