I just finished a strength training workout and my muscles are shaking. But, during the workout, at times it just felt SO GOOD! It was relaxing and empowering. I know I will carry part of that peacefulness throughout the day. (28 to be exact). And, I kept it off for about a year and a half. Since then, the weight has crept back on. <BR> <BR> This year, though, the weight 'poured' on. I was so frustrated to see that I'd gained 10 pounds since January! But, I think that about 90% of my workouts are hard. I almost always push myself really hard. When I was running, I would run 3 days a week. But, during each run I was pushing myself pretty hard. But, it was a GREAT workout! <BR> <BR> I once again pulled my trainer outside & set up my bicycle. I 'made up' the following pyramid workout: the 'fast' workouts are 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 minutes each. In between I rode easy for 1 minute (though I rode easy 2 minutes twice). I also started with a 5 minute warm up and ended with a 5 minute cool down. That put my workout right at 45 minutes and I burned ... My 'most jumps' was 7 sets of 100 for 700 total jumps. Well, today I tried a new rope & it fits me better & works better! And, I only have to move my wrist, not my arm! I struggled with working out much of last week. On Saturday, my plan was to go with the cycling group and do 25 miles.... maybe even 40. I had two hard workouts this weekend and have been going strong the past couple of weeks. <BR> <BR> I did a 22 minute strength workout this morning. I have been aiming for 300 calories burned per day but have only burned 100 so far. But, I'm done. If I feel like it later, I will do something else. If not, that's fine, too. (Day 62 of 100) Today I showed up for my local group ride expecting to do 25 miles. I've only rode once in the past 3 months or so, and it was a 25 miler. Wed, 23 Apr 2014 20:53:40 EST Cycling Trainer Workout (Day 58 of 100) I started the day with Jillian Michael's "Ripped" video. It is intense and follows a 3-2-1 pattern. You do 3 minutes of strength; two minutes of cardio; and one minute of abs. You do a total of 4 rounds. I've done the video 4 or 5 times over the past year or so and find it hard, but actually not that enjoyable. I thought I'd try it again today. (Day 57 of 100) Whew!! My arms are shaking. I started my workout with 7 sets of 100 jumps using my jump rope each. Then I'd walk around for a minute. It took 23 minutes to do the 700. I did two sets without missing! But, I missed 6-7 times my last set. Yes, I was feeling the fatigue! And, my heart rate went up with each set. It started in the 150's & hit a high of 174! And, it's a "super"sprint, so really short. And now, I'm thinking about joining her! I'd be doing the du, not the tri. Sun, 13 Apr 2014 11:40:44 EST Riding "in" the MS150 (Day 48 of 100) No, I didn't ride the MS150 here in Texas this weekend. But, I did join my cycling group of a ride - I haven't rode with them in about 2 months! And, we drove by one of the 3 starts for the MS150 which goes from Houston to Austin. Well, they were starting! And, we merged in behind a group of them for about half a mile before they turned and we headed straight. We also saw some when we stopped for our rest at a gas station. We had a rough weekend and we ended up going to two movies and I ate lots of popcorn and some candy. I bought a kettlebell this weekend and used the free DVD to learn the exercises tonight. I did 20 minutes... quite a bit of just learning, but then a short, but hard, 10 minute workout. Mon, 7 Apr 2014 21:47:52 EST Relaxing Workouts (Days 41 & 42 of 100) I had a rough weekend. We got a call that kind of turned our world upside down for a bit. Thankfully, the world is now back on track, but it was a tough weekend. I almost gave myself permission to not work out... and that would have been ok. But, instead I ended up doing an easy 12-14 minutes session of yoga/Pilates both days. And, I enjoyed it and felt better afterwards! <BR> <BR> Today was still a little crazy & I haven't worked out... yet!!! But, things are so much better now & I WILL ge... And, while I'm on day 40, I didn't get 'serious' until the last couple of weeks. And, I had 4 days at Disney & 3 at my mom's. And, I'm still eating poorly! I'm doing great! <BR> <BR> One of the workouts was a beginner kettlebell workout. I don't have a kettlebell, but they said you could substitute dumbbells, which I did. It worked out fine! But, I think I could use a heavier weight. Along with a lot of other information, they give a range of calories you could burn while doing the video. (Day 37 of 100) I started the day with two Fitness Blender workouts - a cardio and a "thigh & butt" ST video. Then, I went outside with my jump rope. <BR> <BR> Yesterday, while doing intervals of 1 minutes each with the jump rope, I did 75 jumps without stopping! Well, I decided to see if I could do 100 today... and I DID!!! My goal was to do 5 sets of 100 jumps each and see how well I could do. (Day 36 of 100) I started my day with a 'killer' jump rope workout from Fitness Blender. It's called "Jump Rope Weight Loss Routine." The 20 minute routine took me 30 minutes because I had to hit pause so many times. But, I ended up burning almost 250 calories in half an hour! I WILL get my workout in today! Even if it's just a quick 10 ... Wed, 26 Mar 2014 16:57:09 EST No Burpeee Workout (Day 27 of 100) I did a 33 minute Fitness Blender workout this morning. It was intense! But, this one had 'no burpees' in the title & I enjoyed that! I didn't have to come up with a modification when they started doing burpees! The last 6 minutes were stretching & I really enjoyed that. <BR> <BR> Now, off to start a busy weekend! <BR> <BR> Day 27... WORKOUT COMPLETE!! Sat, 22 Mar 2014 08:31:00 EST 400+ Jumping Jacks! (Day 26 of 100) Working out is definitely becoming a habit! I almost skipped this morning as I was busy doing something 'fun', but I finally made myself put it away and do my workout! <BR> <BR> This workout was about 30 minutes and it went back & forth between either burpees or jumping jacks and abdominal workout. Well, since I can't do burpees, I did jumping jacks every time! So, it was 16 'rounds' of 20-25 jumping jacks each. Plus, I didn't realize that's what I'd be doing for today's workout, so my warm ... Fri, 21 Mar 2014 10:48:54 EST Each Workout is Exhausting... but Good! (Day 25 of 100) A 25 day streak... wow! <BR> <BR> I just finished today's workout using two more Fitness Blender videos. The first was a 33 minute cardio workout then a 20 minute upper body workout with the last 4 minutes devoted to stretching. Each day I do these workouts, I feel like I won't be able to finish. But, I keep pushing through! I'm sitting here... exhausted... but I need to get to the rest of my day. And, I feel great!
