IMCONFESSIN's SparkPeople Blog IMCONFESSIN's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community A nice Sunday Hello friendly Sparkpeople.

Today was a nice day for me.
And I hope you had a nice one, too.

I did a lot of yard work today.
In the middle of it, my brother stopped by to help.
The conversation made it go a lot quicker.

Went on a bike ride with my gf in the afternoon.
We tried to do some Geocaching.
She had never done it before.
We searched for two, didn't find either one.
But it was still fun.

Had a nice nap ... Sun, 28 Jul 2013 22:51:13 EST Rode bike, me did. After what seems like close to two years of no biking, I broke it out tonight.
Filled the tires.
Headed to the library.
Got in about 5 miles.
5 rather huffing and puffing out of shape miles.
But, it was fun and it did feel really good to do it.

Toot!

Things I smelled on the ride:
Fresh cut grass
Exhaust
Marijuana
Sitting water
Arabic food
and lots and lots of hamburgers on the barbeque.
Lots! It smelled prett... Thu, 25 Jul 2013 22:09:15 EST Down 30 lbs today, feeling good! Hey all!

Today, I hit my -30 mark. I'm happy to be here.

I have mostly been juicing. It really takes a commitment, but I haven't cheated. There have been a couple of times that I've been out and didn't have juice with me, so I substituted melon or a banana. But that works for me.

I definitely consume wildly more fruits and vegetables while juicing. It makes me feel refreshed and healthy, honestly.

Things I've noticed:

* Tying my shoe... Mon, 22 Jul 2013 19:57:07 EST Post a picture? Puh-lease. When I was re-starting on SP, I took down most of my pics so that I could start fresh.

But then I looked at my current pics, and said to myself, "Oh, dear." I didn't really want to post any of them. I looked almost unrecognizable to myself. And unhealthy. I was so embarassed. I didn't even want my SP friends to see.

But. I figured I should post a couple, and push myself out of my comfort zone, and have something to compare to. So here are a couple.

<im... Thu, 18 Jul 2013 10:16:31 EST I bought a new juicer. Hey, this is Albert.

I've been so unmotivated, for so long.
I was really ENJOYING over eating, whatever I wanted.
I knew it was terrible, but I love to eat.

Then James Gandolfini died.

I'm a big man, like he was. I'm probably 5 or 6 years younger. So it hit home a little.

I started raw juicing last week, just to try it. I kinda wanted to do something to kickstart me into action. Something that would make me feel different.
<B... Tue, 9 Jul 2013 21:32:20 EST Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls... ...I am fat.

But that is not the end of the story.

Hi every(any)body. It's me, AL. I haven't been around for a long time. I intentionally droppped the ball, and let it stay there on the floor as I consumed thai food and felt sorry for myself. There's no real reason, it just happenend. I haven't exercised. I haven't ridden my bike or had many exciting health adventures to tell you about.

But seriously, how long can I push the envelope? My dad died when ... Wed, 13 Feb 2013 14:13:54 EST Fact or Fiction? So last month, I took a roadtrip to see a concert. I hung out with Sparker CURVYMAYA for a day. Here's a synopsis of the weekend. This is exactly as I remember it. I'm pretty sure it's close to 100% accurate.

Around Christmas '10, I decided I was going to drive to Milwaukee to see one of my favorite bands, Cheap Trick, perform their Dream Police album with a full orchestra! I was in nerd nirvana at the thought.
26

Knowing that CURVYMAYA was only a co... Hi Pals.

I'm drinking water again. I may as well just start over with another account, but I guess I'll just move forward. Freshen my page, etc. My profile pic seems so old. I had to throw out that great orange hoodie after it got holes in the elbows. I've replaced it with a much more earthy color, which is not nearly as EXPLOSIVE.

Happy to see so many of my old SP friends again! Sad to see some of the ones who've left, or haven't been back in 200+ days. I consid... Wed, 9 Mar 2011 10:39:22 EST I Had An Intevention. . .intervened on me. Hello Old Chums!

I forgot how to use this site. I haven't been using this site, or doing anything physically worthwhile. Sigh. My appearance has been poor, unkept, lazy. My eating habits are focused on comfort only.

Last week I took a weekend roadtrip from Detroit Rock City to Milwaukee, to see Cheap Trick, one of my favorite all time bands. And CURVYMAYA came up from Chicago area to meet and hang out.

We saw the show, had some Thai food, went to the ar... Fri, 4 Mar 2011 15:10:42 EST ...what happened? Hello speeps!

I haven't been around, and I raced back to all of my bad habits, and my numbers.

Honestly, I'm back where I started.

Haven't been biking. Haven't been eating well. Haven't been drinking water. Haven't paid any attention to SP.

I went to an amusement park over the weekend. I was deemed too large for two of the rides. I couldn't get my buckles secured. I had to do the Walk of Shame off of the ride before it started.
... Wed, 11 Aug 2010 11:46:43 EST 30-Day Pre-Bike Ride Panic Hi, Speeps! I hope everyone is good. Here's my dumb story.

So, I've been planning to go on a 6 day bike tour with my kid.

Signed up in January, sent money, got accepted. Check.

I could sign up for a bus ride to the event, as well as meals, and pay for those at a later date. I didn't have the money at the time, so I had to put it off. Today, I figured I had better check into that. Well, that date has come and gone. I missed it. Now I'm on my ow... Forced to work on a Sunday, alone, I was bored out of my mind. Sun, 28 Mar 2010 19:18:44 EST Two days till Scout Niblett It's been quite a week. I felt sad and devastated about some of the news that Life brought me this week. Yet, when I put things into perspective, it's no big deal. Time marches forward. I paste another happy mask on my face and and pedal on.

On Thursday, I'm going to see a concert. The awesome Scout Niblett, for a mere $5 at a little hole in the wall downtown. No one else I know even knows who Scout Niblett is, and I'm not sure how I stumbled upon her awesomeness. It sounds ... Tue, 16 Mar 2010 14:02:07 EST Bike tires and Thai food Here's how it went down last night.

(Bad thought): I should go get some spicy Thai food, full of cream, to sit in my belly like a lead ball.

(Good thought): Yeah but I should ride my bike up there. It's almost 40 degrees out, practically spring! And then I'll get my 30 minutes of cardio in for ZOZO's challenge.

So, I inflate my tires, and put new batteries in my bike lights, bundle up, and go.

(Bad thought): There's a Thai place only... Felt pretty good.

One of my SP goals was to have toned arms, so here we go.

I'm not really a goal maker. I recognize it is important and helpful. But I've never been much of a goal setter. Some people are like, "I want to have a million dollars in the bank by the time I... Thu, 4 Feb 2010 22:51:02 EST Maybe I'm an addict. * Crime update
*
So the thief sold my wedding band. A ring passed down to me from my late uncle. I wore it when I got married. My wife secretly had a very loving inscription placed inside the band before our wedding day. There was some hope that they would recover the ring. Well, they didn't. It was sold and destroyed. I'm sad about this in so many ways. But I'll get over it. It's just a ring, right? It was beautiful, though.

Now of course I'm paranoid of any l... Tue, 2 Feb 2010 10:13:43 EST Crime Update Wow, a lot happens in a day or two. It's been emotional around here, that's for sure.

The night of the break-in, sleep was tough. I didn't feel comfortable enough to even undress. I slept fully clothed with the lights on. Barely slept, I should say.

Discovered the next day that my wedding band was among the things stolen. :(

The next day, I stayed home. Boarded up the door. Tried to organize and thing what else might be missing. I'm generally unorgan... Mon, 25 Jan 2010 19:10:59 EST Someone broke into my house tonight. Everyone's ok. They didn't take very much. But I feel so violated and yucky.

Took my daughter out tonight to see some "rassling" with my brother. And when we got back and opened the door, I noticed the back door glass was taped over and smashed out.

I called the police, and it was a terrible 15 or 20 minutes waiting for them to show up. Were people still inside? What did they do? Did they just take stuff? Did they vandalize things? What about the dog? Sh... Sun, 24 Jan 2010 01:56:17 EST C25K Workout #2 Yeah, scratch of C25K Workout #2.

I found that I caught my breath a lot faster, and my legs didn't scream as much. But it feels like I could get shin splints real easy. And really, my body feels so HEAVY as it bounces along. Like a giant bag of bricks.

I found that 1 minute of running is about 41 or 42 exhales. I may not need the stopwatch next time, ha!

I could use some better shoes. And actually, some pants to run in. Not being a fan of long pa... Thu, 21 Jan 2010 23:02:24 EST PALM Application Approved! Toot!

My application for the PALM bike ride in June as been approved!

I was pretty quick on the draw, I guess. They accept the first 700, and our reserved spots are #7 and #8! But, 419 spots were filled as of 1/19, so they are going quick!

Woo hoo! I'm pretty happy that I'm going on my first bike tour.

In other news, I tried Workout #2 of the C25K tonight, but my daughter wasn't having it. I guess that's training I need to do solo.
... Wed, 20 Jan 2010 21:12:49 EST C25K? Me? X98COLLEGEGIRL and LIASABURT58 have both challenged me to do a 5k. I've considered it, but I don't really have any interest in running. But my brother is a runner, and he got all excited when I started talking about it, so I figured I'd give it a go.

Tonight, I ran Week 1's Workout #1. I figured I'd breeze through it. 8 sets of 1 minute runs, with 90 sec breaks in between.

Man, I had my eyes glued to the stopwatch, anticipating the next second when I could stop. I ... Mon, 18 Jan 2010 23:24:10 EST Some terrible chicken jokes. Sometimes I'll pick up a joke book at a garage sale for a dime. You can never have enough corny jokes in your repertoire. However, most of these joke books are worth... a dime.

Last night, my daughter discovered a book of chicken jokes from 1974, and read off groaner after groaner. It's strange, because they market the book to kids, but you have to really be an adult to get some of the puns.

Still, I now present the 'best' of the chicken jokes:

Q: Why... Mon, 18 Jan 2010 09:54:22 EST 28 Degrees F is a cold bike ride.

I got in 15 miles today. First time in months. I set up the bike on the resistance machine this morning. I can now officially ride my bike in the house. Works pretty good, too! I thought it would be more wobbly.

My daughter, of course, wants me to hook up HER bike, now that she sees me having some indoor bike fun.

But this is not the first time I've enjoyed indoor biking.

Back when I was in my late teens, I shared an apartment with some other adventurous guys. Sat, 16 Jan 2010 15:55:04 EST Application has been mailed Hey all!

After months of little to no activity, abandoning all of my good habits, and eating whatever I want, I've managed to put on 17 pounds. Yikes.

I guess I'm totally starting over. Well, not totally, because I'm still under my starting weight. But it feels like starting over.

My big news is that I mailed out my bike ride application today. They mail out like 3500, and accept the first 700. I signed up me and my girl. I used to bike to get salads for dinner, and since that pattern has changed, so have my eating habits. And I stopped doing much of exercising or doing anything right.

So, I've made some re-starts, and I'm getting back on path.

COLLEGEGIRL had sent me a challenge to do a 5K, and another one of my friends did, too. It was a letter hand-addressed to my late mother.

Inside were 2 photocopied pages and a thank you note. The note was from a local newspaper columnist who has since retired. My dad had written a glowing review of one of his articles, and sent it to him in 1985. This man had saved it, and wrote to tell my mom how special the note had been to him all of these years.

The note from my dad, written a year before he died, was... Wed, 9 Dec 2009 09:59:05 EST Friday is (___________) Day! Well, we got an email from HR this week: "Friday is JEANS DAY!"

This is a rarity. When the president is out of town, if it's a friday, we sometimes get a 'jeans day'. Ahh. Comfortable, relaxing jeans.

Yeah, but I kinda prefer shorts and sandals day. But we never have that.

Or how about Snuggie day?

Well, I decided to take the comfort level up a notch today. I created Pajama Day. Ahh, comfortable, relaxing pajamas. Uneventful, you might say.

So. The lady in our HR dept. will usually have some sort of dumb public-service flyer that she gives out with our checks. Really lame, common-knowledge stuff that goes right into the trash. This might include changes in our health insurance policy (which we already received in the mail), 1-hour martinizing coupons, or "Be sure to wash your hands in flu season"-style annou... Mon, 30 Nov 2009 12:29:13 EST Thanks to you. To make a long story short, Gram decided she's not having Thanksgiving this year, she's going to her niece's house. That kinda leaves me hanging without any substantial Thanksgiving plans this year, and no back up plan. I'm sure I could weasel in at my brother's, or something, but I didn't even give a courtesy notice. I'm not feeling sorry for myself, it's just a change of life that kind of surprised me.

I've never had Thanksgiving at (gasp!) a restaurant, but maybe I'll give i... I took it all in.

But here's what I mean about the extra work you have to do with A-type people.

Set up: This is a pretty woman who has professional photos of herself in the bio of her business website. Thu, 12 Nov 2009 17:14:03 EST Who's an Alpha-female? Hello friends.

Where have I been? Good question. Eating, I guess. My weight is up, My good habits and exercise are down. Funy how some old habits can quietly and easily sneak back into one's life.

So today, I wore my 'special occasion' glasses. I ordered a different sub at Subway for lunch, and I only got the 6", instead of the 12". And tonight, I think I'll really MIX IT UP and sleep on the other side of the bed. That's right. Complete mayhem.

Se... Wed, 11 Nov 2009 14:00:42 EST Minor Update for Wednesday I took my girl to an indoor waterpark over the weekend. We had a great time on water slides, the waterpool, and getting wet in general. They also had some sort of wizard game in the lobby which kept her running around the hotel with an infared wand all weekend. She had suck a good time, she cried when it was time to leave.

We had been to a similar park about three years ago. Hey all!

All day today I've been thinking about the fact that I'll get to ride my bike on a Friday night. Usually I have my daughter with me. But even more exciting is that I would probably hit my 1,000 mile mark for the season tonight!

I got on all my gear. (I need to find my gloves. It's been in the 60's lately!) Fri, 18 Sep 2009 22:15:33 EST Ok, I'm confessing. I've gotta come clean.

I've slowly gained back a few pounds over the last month. It's difficult to say exactly how much, but I'm guessing almost 5.

How can I not be exact? Well, I weigh in at home on the Wii Fit with next to nothing on. That's the number I put on my SP page. Then, I weigh in at work on Wednesdays, shoes and all. That's the number I put in my weight loss spreadsheet with everyone else here in the department. But the guy who owned the scale just lef... Wed, 16 Sep 2009 12:03:22 EST Sunflowers on Monday A holiday week can mess up a guy's biking schedule. I think he's openly gay now. Well, what can you say? Thanks, man, I'm flattered. He knew I was straight, and he was in the closet, so it made for a confusing situation for him, I guess.

I was sharing this tidbit at bre... Thu, 10 Sep 2009 15:45:15 EST
