I look in my rear view mirror and see the infamous flashing lights (busted!). I actually had no idea what I had done wrong so I asked the cop and apparently I had ran a red light, it was after 11:30 so the light was flashing, which I hear only happens in small towns. He takes my drivers liscense and is in his car for a little while. When he returns he shines his flashli... Tue, 11 Sep 2007 17:09:04 EST The Scale http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=468624 So I'm not Catholic, but I've always chosen to give up something for Lent, just to represent giving up something in life to get closer to Christ. So this year my husband suggested that I give up the scale because he could tell that I was getting obsessed with it. So I haven't weight as of February 21 and it's actually going pretty well. I had my husband hide the scale so that I wouldn't think about it all the time, you know the old "out of sight, out of mind theory". What this has done fo... Thu, 15 Mar 2007 10:39:30 EST All Eyes on Me http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=344701 The title of this blog is not intended to be egotistical, so take no offense =). So I've met my goal weight a while back and have just been working on maintaining it, which can be a challenge in an of itself. Throughout the holiday season there seems to be party after party after party. Last night I went to church to help pack up some Christmas boxes for some people on the reservation in Montana and of course to get people there you have to feed them. There were so many yummy deserts I co... Thu, 21 Dec 2006 12:15:06 EST Thanksgiving and the HRM http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=325830 Cody and I went to my parents house for Thanksgiving and we spend about 5 days there. I love spending time with family, however they do not have the same priorities in eating that I've come to cherish. This created a challenge for me over Thanksgiving with candy bowls throughout the house, and cheese in a can with ritz crackers, yum. To combat this I asked my sister to be my "substitute" workout buddy for the week and she agreed. Yesterday when I got on the scale I was actually at my goal... Tue, 28 Nov 2006 11:52:09 EST Taming the Boredom Beast http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=292571 I was reading an article today about taming the emotional eating beast and I realized that I don't have too big of a problem with emotional eating. However, I realized that I do like to eat when I'm bored. My boredom beast does not crave carrots and celery sticks, no he graves sweets. I've got 1.6 more pounds to lose to reach my goal and if I don't tame this beast I may never get there, or worse I will gain some of it back. So, I'm going to be aware of the times when the boredom beast com... Thu, 19 Oct 2006 13:43:31 EST Be a positive influence http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=265749 I added a long term goal about a month ago and it was "To have a positive influence on others". This goal is incredibly tough because it has several small short term goals that need to be practiced daily, such as having patience with everyone, avoiding gossip, listening, ect. I believe that these things are important, but without Christ in our lives we would not have a heart to want to even pursue these things. I believe to genuinly have a positive influence on others we need to be satisfi... Fri, 15 Sep 2006 12:37:38 EST Back from Belize http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=253490 Our trip was a success and we were able to give two people a new home. In our standards these homes would have been more of a tool shed, but to them they were like a palace. Every time I've been to Belize I realize how rich we are in America and yet so often we are selfish with what we have. This is not the case in Belize. In America we give out of our wealth, and in Belize they give out of their poverty. For example there was one day when we were building and it started to rain (go figu... Wed, 30 Aug 2006 12:16:07 EST Trouble Goal http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=235460 I'm writing this journal as an action step for strategy #4 in stage 3. I'm 6-7 pounds from my goal weight, depending on the day and they are fighting like there's no tomorrow. My biggest trouble goal right now is consistency in my eating. I continue to workout 5 times a week, but that isn't going to cut it if I'm eating more than I'm burning. I also give into temptation to eat very easily. For example, yesterday my husband was going to have popcorn and I almost cannot resist popcorn, so ... Tue, 8 Aug 2006 13:54:32 EST Belize! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=219412 In less than a month a group of 12 of us are going to Belize to build two houses for two elderly couples who live there. I'm a little nervous because I'm not really the building type. Because it's hot and humid there I'm going to need some extra strength to get through, it will definitely stretch me in ways I can't even imagine, but I'm excited for the challenge. It will be well worth the efforts! Fri, 21 Jul 2006 12:51:58 EST I'm a Plateau Buster! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=201087 They say it over and over that eventually you will hit a plateau in your weight loss journey. I hit my plateau for about a month and a half. Every week I got on the scale expecting to see the same number. One day was different though, I got on the scale it my weight had finally gone down. Ever since then I have been slowly seeing the weight come off. It's true what the bible says about perseverance in Romans 5:3-5. It would have been so easy to just give up and forget about my last 12 ... Wed, 28 Jun 2006 16:42:39 EST Contemplative Prayer http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=171862 A little less than a month ago Cody and I went to a missions conference called Nomads in Oklahoma. This conference was very good considering our interest in missions. One thing that I really brought back from the conference was the idea of contemplative prayer. I knew nothing about this before the conference. So often when we pray we always are praying about other peoples needs and I learned that it is also important to focus on our needs. If it's always about other people's prayer needs... Thu, 18 May 2006 17:08:46 EST
