Almost 3 years later. I am hoping that Spark will get me to my goals once again. Menopause hit me about 2 years ago and is still going strong. I have gained 15 lbs in the last 2 years (I'm blaming it on hormones!) and I cannot afford to continue this way. I need to be able to wear all my clothes comfortably. I will not buy new clothes!

I have my goals... I think I know what to do. Funny how that keeps changing as I get older. I eat healthier than anyone I... I'm very motivated to hit my goals, so here they are!

1. Track my food intake at least 2 days a week (this is up from zero!)

2. Continue my workouts! Now that fall is here, cycling, hiking and tennis will be in full force! But I need to do my ST 2-3 times a week!

3. Pescatarian. I will not be eating any meat other than seafood. And I will limit my seafood to 2 times a week.

4. Half-portions. This has worked well for me in the pa... Sat, 27 Jul 2013 20:45:33 EST Really Motivated - BLC 22 Goals! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5381772 Dear Readers... (as if I have any!)

Now that I have gone through gaining mid-life weight, then losing it, then re-gaining it because I didn't pay attention (I really thought I could maintain my weight easily after losing it)... I now realize it takes work and attention. So, now I am older and wiser and very motivated for various reasons.

One is that I am on this amazing team for BLC 22! The C.A.M.O. Crew! And they are CAMO tough and I can't let them down!

... Fri, 7 Jun 2013 18:56:20 EST Gluten-free lessons http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5373785 So, I went 27 days gluten-free. Was invited to this very special pizza party and had to participate... no gluten-free available, so it ended 3 days early. But, I must say, I felt absolutely no difference while going gluten-free, and then no difference at all going back to eating gluten. I lost a couple of pounds, but that was due to more intense tracking and portion-controlling than anything else.

Here's what I learned:
1. I do not have any sensitivity to gluten
2. A p... Fri, 31 May 2013 15:06:56 EST Gluten-free Day 17 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5350148 Well, I am more than 2 weeks into this and I must say, I do not feel any different. I have been journaling about my energy levels and my digestion to see if there are any difference and... nada...

I am still going to stick it out for the full 30 days, but I have a feeling I am just not sensitive at all to gluten. At least not in any way that is palpable.

This Saturday, May 11 begins the Spring 5% Challenge. My plan is to limit my non-freggie carbs to one serving per da... Wed, 8 May 2013 18:24:16 EST Reasons to Lose 10 lbs http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5348730 More than 2 years ago, I wrote this list of my reasons to lose 10 lbs. I lost the 10 lbs over the course of about 8 months, kept it off for 7 months over the past year slowly put 12 lbs back on! Yikes! But this list really helped me back then, so I pulled it out again and I am now motivated! I have setmyself up for success by making a solid plan of how I will do this, by joining Spark Teams and being more engaged, and by trying really hard to start tracking my food/wine intake.

... Tue, 7 May 2013 14:25:44 EST Why the 5% Spring Challenge? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5348715 I must say, I am very excited about this Spring Challenge! I am getting more and more motivated by the day. I love all the pre-challenge tasks... getting yourself set up for success! Genius! Put my goals on my page, wrote my daily list, practicing tracking my food, re-reading my reasons to be 12 lbs lighter... That one, maybe I should share. It may be helpful to others. I know after reading it again (I hadn't in more than 6 months) I got a lot more motivated!

So, bottom line is, ... Tue, 7 May 2013 14:07:17 EST Gluten-free Day 10 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5342378 Well, I have lost only about 1.5 lbs in 9 days...

I did make a mistake one day by eating 3 crackers with my hummus. I needed a quick snack before tennis and the crackers were there... they are whole grain, but not gluten-free. Other than that I have been gluten-free. It is not as hard as I thought, but I find it pretty easy to still eat too many carbs (rice, potatoes, oats, gluten-free pasta) while still being gluten-free! Of course!

So, now I need to just reduce the c... Wed, 1 May 2013 19:23:48 EST Gluten-free for 30 days - The Beginning http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5332021 Stuck at this uncomfortable place... I have not been serious enough about really losing. Decided it was just way too hard of work when I lost the 12 lbs 2 years ago. I wasn't ready for that again. But...

I have this motivational phrase hanging on my computer:

"When the pain of staying the same is greater than the fear of change - we will change!"

Right now, none of my clothes fit comfortably, some not at all. Mon, 22 Apr 2013 17:18:21 EST Be happy... and share it! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5241528 Hello Fellow Sparks!

I have made a conscious decision today to be happy! And I wanted to bring you along on the journey. Here's how it has gone so far... and my plans for the rest of the day:

1. I am not a morning person. Usually somewhat grumpy for the first 30-60 minutes. But today, I smiled at my husband, skipped down the hall to the kitchen, and turned on music as I made breakfast! "Be happy" I told myself!
2. I chose to curl my hair and wear a (comfortable, b... Thu, 7 Feb 2013 12:03:26 EST February already?! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5237123 Yikes... I was supposed to be down 3-4 pounds in the month of January... what happened to January?! I gained a pound or two instead! Why is this so hard right now? I know many of you are struggling with a lot bigger issues than I... I sometimes feel so guilty for complaining about my lack of weight loss. Yes, it's true I only have 10-15 lbs to lose... But it is desparately hard for me! I eat so much less than I used to! I eat so much healthier than I used to! I exercise regularly... somet... Mon, 4 Feb 2013 12:27:26 EST Keep me honest! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5232097 Hey Anyone who is out there! I hope you are doing well. I have continued to stay stagnant with any weight loss and am getting very frustrated with myself.

And yesterday, on the way home from work, I stopped at the store and bought chips (my kryptonite) and ate half the bag while driving home. I then hid the bag from my husband so he wouldn't know! Yikes! What's wrong with me!? So, this morning, he happened to see the receipt and was just looking ot see what I bought... oh I see... I can't believe it has been more than a year since I posted a blog. Life has certainly gone on and things are good. I continue to keep in pretty good physical shape, although I am planning on increasing the intensity this year. And I continually am learning and working on cooking and eating healthy... but I still can't stop that middle-aged weight gain! I am back to my heaviest weight once again. If I just look away for a minute... yikes! So back to the drawing board. How can I be m... Tue, 22 Jan 2013 12:33:40 EST Getting to know you... So many of my friends/acquaintances are getting married! Later in life for all of us... and so much better. I can't believe it's been 2 weeks since I last blogged here... and what have I accomplished!? Well, last weekend was my bachelorette weekend with some girlfriends in Puerto Penasco... which is just a 4-5 hour drive from Tucson. We had some mishaps as far as transportation and such. An it turned out that the ladies that could attend, were not all ladies I knew that well! But... the beach and the water and the beach house were just perfect!

The good news is that I didn't gain... Thu, 1 Sep 2011 14:05:53 EST Time to re-commit! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4434829 Well, here we are in mid-August. I had my foot/achilles surgery on May 27th. It has been a slow 3 months of recovery. I was determined to try not to gain back ANY weight after my surgery, even though my activity level would plummet. Well, my lowest weight right before surgery was 136.5. Today, I weighed in at 138.9. SO I have gained just over 2 lbs... sigh. I guess not bad considering my activity level went from 6 days a week of at least an hour... to almost nothing!

But, now tha...
