I am usually very sporadic on my team participation, but I have been trying to keep up with this. I've gone from 239 to 237, so I feel like I have a real shot at making the goal!
I have another goal this month, too. I noticed while looking at my trophies that I won 1000 fitness minute trophies in June and Ju... Fri, 21 Jun 2013 16:05:08 EST One Year Later http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5379331 I was looking at my weigh in report today, and realized that I started tracking a year ago today. On my spark page it says tomorrow, but you know. Close enough.

I have gained and lost, gained and lost weight since I was 14 or 15 years old. I have lost weight (at different times) through starvation, extreme exercise, running, eating only plant foods (for weight loss only, not health), and just not eating right (without actually trying to starve myself).

This, my frie... Wed, 5 Jun 2013 15:56:35 EST Tiny Steps Become Leaps http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5365676 Yesterday I was off work, lounging around, trying to talk myself into a pizza for dinner. I didn't do so hot at lunch, but I didn't REALLY want to keep on with the derailment. I know that if I let myself argue long enough, I will give in to pizza.

Instead, I told myself, lets just get something like hummus as a snacky thing, and I can eat as much as I want until I'm full instead of trying to stay in range. Sounded like a good compromise. Then I thought, it is SO nice out, how a... Thu, 23 May 2013 12:36:12 EST Best. Workout. EVER. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5359411 I had the best workout today! I did the interval setting on the treadmill, 30 minutes with 1.5% incline. The "rest" portion was at 2.9 mph, "work" at 5.0 mph. The last interval I worked at 5.5 mph. It was a nice run/walk and I feel AMAZING now.

I'm so glad it is Friday. I am behind at work, it's been a pretty crazy week. Yesterday the weather was doom and gloom and rainstorms, today its hot and muggy and SO humid!! It's supposed to be around 90F tomorrow and Sunday. I'm pl... Fri, 17 May 2013 14:18:55 EST Outside Doesn't Reflect Inside. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5358672 I mean the weather. It's pouring, it has been gray and gloomy all day. In this building, I am bright and happy. I am wearing a pair of size 16 slacks today. They are snug, but not tight. I can't believe it. I see glimpses of myself in the mirror (sadly I usually avoid mirrors) and I can't believe how much smaller I look. I think of trying on these pants a few months ago, and they would barely pull up over my rear. The buttons weren't even near touching, let alone buttoning.

... Thu, 16 May 2013 14:12:44 EST The New Loss http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5357378 Okay guys, I did what I said and I got rid of the clothes that were too big! I also found out that I fit into an old pair of size 16 slacks!! They were definitely snug, but I know I'm getting there. 9

I weighed in yesterday when I hit the gym, and I've lost 4 pounds since my last weigh in! It was about 2 pounds a week...I'm not going to expect that level of loss every week, but it feels nice and encouraging to see my "weight lost" ticker is now 4 on my home page! <B... Wed, 15 May 2013 11:52:52 EST Getting Out of These 20s http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5350897 I am hanging on to size 20s and I don't know why. The 18s have fit for a while, but they were snug. Well...they aren't snug anymore, they fit just right. Yet I still have two size 20 pants that I keep around. I put them on in the morning, and by 10 am I'm cursing myself and the way they fall down. The way they make my butt all baggy. The way they are just too long and I can feel that the crotch is half way to my knees (only a slight exaggeration).

I didn't do this with the 22... Thu, 9 May 2013 11:24:45 EST The Desire to be Overweight http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5349805 This blog will be heavy on motivational pics, they are my favorite things 211

I am so proud of myself and how far I've come. I can still see my weight lost on my ticker, which I am happy to report tells me I am already almost halfway to my new goal! I have to remember that, because my home page now says "0 pounds lost (so far!)" and its a little a difficult after getting that number up to 55!

I reset my goal to a weight that will put my BMI right at "ove... Wed, 8 May 2013 12:06:20 EST May! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5348575 I am so few and far between on these posts. Oh well!

So yesterday I weighed, and I am officially down 55 pounds. I am super happy and proud of myself, it has taken a lot of patience and hard work to get here.

I have been thinking about my tracker a lot. I had originally a goal of 102 lost by May, and obviously I didn't make that. I am perfectly fine, with that, really I am, but I think I'm going to reset my tracker. In June I will have been with Sparkpeople for o... Tue, 7 May 2013 11:58:42 EST Getting back on. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5301879 I have been tracking, but I haven't been trying very hard to get my stuff done. I haven't pushed it with the workouts, although I have made sure to get 90 minutes a week just because I don't want to end my months long streak! Like I said, I have been tracking...but I haven't been "on track". Instead of sticking to my 1200-1500 range, I have been getting in 1800+ calories pretty regularly for a few weeks. A few days with around 2200, and one day even 3000 calories.
I haven't been havi... Wed, 27 Mar 2013 10:58:11 EST A little update. Scattered thinking included. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5170320 It is so hard to work so hard and feel strong and awesome and then... see that you don't look much different.

I'm not complaining! Okay maybe yes I am. But its so hard to be patient sometimes. I know this will pay off, and I can immediately tell that I feel better, I just wish I would look better a little faster 198

I've been running 3-4 days a week, about 30 minutes each time but closer to an hour for my weekend run. I say run, but it's kinda a shuffly-... I'm not picking on the company, per se, so much as adding to the dialog of clothing sizes for women.

A few years ago I ran religiously, and was 3-4 sizes and 40 lb smaller than I am now. I bought (ordered actually, they didn't have bigger sizes) a REAL running bra from my local running store. It was a bit snug, but I wore it and... Tue, 11 Dec 2012 15:21:00 EST Update...and navel gazing. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5154908 I completed Week 3 of Couch to 5K two or three weeks ago. After that I just started running at my own pace. I think that this has paid off, because I saw my average speed jump tremendously! I am feeling really good about my running. 312

I had a "bad" weekend, and didn't track my food or do any workouts. I don't feel so bad about not working out; last week I made my fitness minutes and overshot my calories burned by quite a bit. I probably went over on Saturday cal... Mon, 3 Dec 2012 15:19:21 EST We can do it!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5128638 I ran week 2 day 1 of Couch to 5K today...and I did the whole thing, no extra walk breaks. I feel great!! Happy! Courageous! Inspired and inspirational!!! I just wanted to share how I feel with everyone!
<img src="http:... Thu, 8 Nov 2012 16:01:10 EST On track? Yes! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5126099 Yesterday I ran outside again. It was chilly and windy and overcast, and I ran on a path along the river. It was cold (I def didn't sweat) but it felt great! There were a few times my legs, especially my shins, felt wooden but I pushed through it!! Looking forward to more outdoor runs.

And, I am so proud of myself because yesterday I ate on track! I've been going over in calories a lot lately. I got enough fiber, which is sometimes a struggle not to get too little or too much.... Tue, 6 Nov 2012 11:30:34 EST Sore muscles and outdoor running. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5119318 So today during lunch I ran outside rather than on a treadmill...haven't done that since April I think! Definitely not since I started my Sparkpeople journey. It was difficult, not surprisingly. I found it easier to push myself though, even though the fatigue in my legs and the wind resistance made it really difficult. I was tired at the end, but pleased and proud of my body.

Yesterday, I did go home and make chili. While it was cooking I did about 45 min work of strength trai... Wed, 31 Oct 2012 16:11:20 EST Monday, here we go again. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5118152 I've been tracking, oh yes I have. Doesn't mean I've been sticking to my plan though. So when I went to the gym today to ONCE AGAIN start a running program, I knew I had to weigh myself, to see what kind of damage I had done. Luckily for me, I only gained 2 lbs, so I can definitely live with that.

So obviously I've worked out for the day, will probably do some strength training when I get home. I haven't done strength training in SUCH a long time!! I enjoy it...but I usually... Tue, 30 Oct 2012 16:37:01 EST ZUMBA!!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5111090 After hearing lots of great things about it, Lacebot and I tried Zumba last night at the fitness center where we swim. It was super fun!! It was dancing, shaking your booty, with a little bit of traditional aerobics moves tossed in. We were both exhausted by the end, but we felt like we had a great workout. And today, we are both SO SORE.

I know this is because it was new, and we used a new group of muscles. ... Wed, 24 Oct 2012 10:49:13 EST So I ran yesterday http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5083874 I ran at the gym yesterday and had a pretty nice run too. I'm getting good at pushing when I think I can push and backing off when I need to. Starting the run I go at 4.8 mph...then by near the middle I try to push to 5.0 mph...then I back off to 4.8 mph if I need to. By the last run segment, I decided I could do it and pushed up the pace to 5.5 mph...so happy, so exhilarating!!! Then, although I usually run/walk for 20 minutes with a 5 minute warm up and a 5 minute cool down, I ran AGAIN ... Tue, 2 Oct 2012 13:55:29 EST Almost bounced off the wagon http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5075680 Well, although I have been eating alright, I haven't been working out half as much as I should be. With no efforts at strength training. Today, I'm going to the gym and its going to happen. I'm also going to weigh myself, which I haven't done in a few weeks (yes, I was afraid!)
I've also been drinking and smoking this week, which is how I got out of shape so badly to begin with. I've got to stop! I want to stop! So today, I'm making the goal that I will be healthy today. One day at... Wed, 26 Sep 2012 11:25:35 EST Ready to set a goal. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5057592 I used to run. By used to, I mean that I ran in high school (for fitness, not competetion) from about age 14-17. Then I ran again, from about 2009 to 2010, then off and on during 2011. I never registered for a race though, although during my most recent affair with running I planned to. My regimen was normally about 2-3 miles 3 times a week, with an occasional 5 miler. I just never got around to it.

I am picking up running again (at the beginning, I don't want to get injured). ... Thu, 13 Sep 2012 12:23:30 EST It really is a new me! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5026560 I ate at my favorite chinese buffet today with my best friend. We used to eat there quite often because we both love it, but as we've both been paying more attention to what we eat its been a few months since we've been there. Getting all of my favorites, I began eating. And one thought kept popping up in my mind after each bite.
Ew.
I couldn't believe how greasy everything was. How salty. It just wasn't good. Has the restaurant changed? No, everything tasted basically the sa... Wed, 22 Aug 2012 14:57:32 EST Today is for rest. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5024764 I went to the gym at lunch time yesterday, ready to have a good run. I was majorly stressed and a little bit sore for some reason all morning. So on the treadmill I started out a little fast, eager to begin my run sequences. By the third run sequence in, maybe 7 or 8 minutes into the work out, I realized that I would not be able to finish the work out as planned. My back was sore, I felt fatigued, and I was having awful cramps in my shins.
Instead of giving up, however, I just didn... Tue, 21 Aug 2012 11:05:05 EST They don't see me rollin' http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5016819 Went to the gym at lunch today. I go to the city's community center because for me, a city employee, it's $2.50 a month. Bargain, am I right? I really like the facility anyway so that is just a bonus. It's never too crowded when I've been, but today NO ONE was in the cardio room, the whole time from noon to 1 that I was working out. There were people playing basketball on the court below and to the front of the cardio room, but otherwise sweet solitude. So the whole point is, when I worke... Wed, 15 Aug 2012 15:19:22 EST Little Miss Positive Pants. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5015266 I read a quote in a Sparkpeople email today, about how the only thing you can really control about anything is your attitude. This is so true, and it touched a nerve with me. I work with the public in a law enforcement setting, so 80% of the public I interact with isn't people like you and me, its people who have beaten family members. People who think stealing is okay when you aren't caught, people who see me as the enemy, as part of "the system" or "the man". Not surprisingly, this is st... Tue, 14 Aug 2012 14:31:06 EST Okay its serious time. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4999300 I have been bad this week. Usually if I am bad, I am at least working out extra. Although I am hitting my fitness minutes, I haven't been pushing for good workouts like I normally do.
I have also been eating like crap. Peer pressure and convenience are two devils that are a real danger, and they totally did me in. Yesterday was the worst. I skipped my yoga class but still made myself do an intense 35 minute session solo. I felt a bit queasy by the end of it. I attribute this to th... Fri, 3 Aug 2012 09:56:50 EST Just keep swimming. Or at least start. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4986243 Today I woke up at 5 am and went swimming with a dear friend and her boyfriend's mom at a local Y. We swam for about an hour. I had the GREATEST time! I love swimming anyway, and have never swam strictly for exercise before. I did alternating laps of crawl, backstroke, and some paddling on a board for a nice leg work out. When I entered my calories, I was amazed and thrilled to see that I had burned over 700 calories, and that was with me being very conservative on time swimming (general)... Wed, 25 Jul 2012 11:39:55 EST Fighting temptation...and winning http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4967172 My downfall is pizza. I love it, love it, love it. So last night when I was at the store, I stood in the frozen pizza aisle. For 20 minutes. I argued with myself that if I got this one, the sodium isn't so high. This one doesn't have so much cheese, so the fat is lower. Or this one, its small and even though the sodium count is through the roof, I'd be eating less and its pretty cheap.

This is bad, but the worst part is that I had already met my nutrition goals for the day. Ev... Thu, 12 Jul 2012 12:44:18 EST If I write it down, maybe I'll pay more attention. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4965848 I've been using SparkPeople for over a month now, and I love it. I've also lost 12 pounds (yay!).
Of course calories, fat, protein etc are tracked by default; but I started tracking sodium, too. My mom mentioned to me a few months ago that maybe I salt things a little too much. So I started tracking, and wow was I consuming a lot of sodium!

The maximum RDA is 2300 mg...apparently even with me being a vegetarian and watching what I eat in terms of calories, I was still easily...
