I now measure 24.5 and I am pleased with that. I had set this goal to prove to myself and my doctor that I could lower my cholesterol. I was taking statins because my bad cholesterol was 172 and that was in the high range, so my doctor wouldn't let me do it on my own without the medication. The statins I was taking hav... I liked it and it stuck. Anyway, Swanson has become so accustomed to us feeding him that he will wait at the back door until someone brings him lettuce or bread. He has a little temper and I don't hand-feed him because he has snapped at me a few times. If he gets really upset, he hisses, but most of the time, he seems pretty comfortable, just hanging around. That is the date of my next doctor appointment. I am currently taking statins for high cholesterol, but my doctor and I discussed a strategy before I even started. Wed, 23 Oct 2013 16:29:45 EST Found Just The Right Program For Me! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5517797 I recently joined the 5K Your Way Walk/Jog Program and I am so glad I did. I used to love running and especially competing in races, but I am older now and have osteoarthritis and thin cartilage in my knee. It has been painful and I have not run in over a year. In fact, I didn't know if I would ever run again, but I wanted to try. This program combines walking and jogging and so far, it has been ideal. I am able to jog without too much pain and I am in my second week. For incentive, I signed ... Sat, 19 Oct 2013 14:02:55 EST I'm Really Back! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5513044 Well, I finally had enough "guts" to put my real weight on my SparkPage. It is higher than when I left over a year ago, but better than it was just two months ago. I am really working on my weight again and SP is a wonderful way to keep me going.

We are settled in a new home, in a new area and closer to the beach. There is no reason why I can't get out there and enjoy life. My green leafy drinks in the morning have given me lots of energy and my knee hardly hurts at all any more, ... Mon, 14 Oct 2013 09:45:39 EST Not Exactly About Weight Loss, Just Sharing Some Good News! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5097829 I just did my first talk and book signing today and I was delighted. The crowd wasn't large (18 people), but four of them bought books. I was the guest, but Kathy Hall runs the classes. She is so knowledgeable about plants and butterflies. She gave me some Zebra Longwing caterpillars. I was so happy because I have been trying to coax them into the yard. We have the right plants, just hadn't seen any yet. Now that I have caterpillars, I will be able to release the butterflies from here and th... Sat, 13 Oct 2012 18:31:10 EST Amazon Just Published My Book and I Am Beside Myself With Joy! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5066318 I AM SO THRILLED!

I have already sold a few copies and have one review. It was a struggle, but I finally made it. So, I have a very expensive hardcover through Blurb and an electronic book for ipods and now Amazon is publishing a much less expensive softcover book. I just received one yesterday and it looks great. I was worried because the Blurb book is so beautiful, I didn't know what a softcover was going to look like and I didn't want the quality to be ruined. Although the page... I was so disappointed with myself. OK, That is over and it is time to get to work. Since I haven't been doing anything for months, my plan is to start logging everything I eat. I have been doing that faithfully since BLC20 started and I know it makes a difference. I can't do anything where I bend my knee and I... Sun, 16 Sep 2012 23:23:03 EST Ready To Start Over - One More Time! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5054286 To be honest, it has been quite a long time since I have cared about my weight and it is time for me to start paying attention again. A lot of things have happened this year, but all of them are just excuses for not doing what I know is right. When things go wrong, I learned that food is still my comfort and that is not good. I am embarrassed to say that I have gained almost all my weight back, but there it is. I am up to 171.8 pounds. I weighed 180 when I started SparkPeople years ago and I ... Tue, 11 Sep 2012 11:24:18 EST I Updated My Book Preview - What Do You Think? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4980849 I have been out of commission for quite a while because of a knee injury, but something good did come out of it. As many of you know, I was writing a book about butterflies. The injury allowed me to spend a lot of time writing and that was a good thing. I had no idea that I knew so much about butterflies. Vince took the pictures and we were able to get some amazing shots of butterflies emerging from their chrysalises. My heart will break when we have to move and I will no longer to be able t... Sat, 21 Jul 2012 19:06:59 EST What A Wonderful Birthday! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4907487 No, we didn't get to go away like we had planned, but it was a beautiful day anyway.

Vince is getting around a lot better and he even sneaked out before I got up and bought me flowers and a very special butterfly cake. I also had four Monarchs emerge to give me Birthday greetings. Because my knee is still giving me trouble, we are making it a movie day and Vince and I are going to recoup in front of the TV. Something we rarely do. It is raining and that is wonderful, the flowers a... Fri, 1 Jun 2012 13:34:37 EST We Will Get Through This! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4897992 Well, this certainly stopped my whining about a little pain in my knee.

This morning, Vince took a tumble down the stairs and hurt his knee very badly. Nothing is broken, but in a way, this is worse because it may take six months or longer to repair the tendons. He is on crutches and cannot put any weight on his leg. The doctor said that it was imperative that he lose weight. He is also pre-diabetic and very close to being put on insulin. We have cancelled all travel plans for n... Fri, 25 May 2012 18:23:08 EST Kicking My Own Butt!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4884257 OK, Here I am right back in the same old pot. I gained weight again this week and I was so disappointed in myself. I have been so wrapped up in writing that I haven't even tried to fit in a lot of time for exercise. Normally, LCW would really motivate me, I would be really trying to beat my teammates, but right now, I can barely crank out thirty minutes. I'm not trying to make excuses. I just lost my drive. I even registered for a race thinking that would get me moving, but it really di... Wed, 16 May 2012 13:54:23 EST A New Birth! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4859338 I had about a month long pitty party because I was feeling sorry for myself. I don't even want to go into the details, but I am over it. I almost quit my BLC team and that would have been a disaster because, they are the ones that made me see the light and get back on track. This weeks weekend challenge started out very slowly for me and I wasn't able to perform to the maximum, but I participated and that is the important part. Everyone was so encouraging and I am writing down everything ... Mon, 30 Apr 2012 13:08:54 EST
