Living in a rural area where you are not able to get the choices that you can get in a city has definetely been a challenge for me. I have finally gotten to know where I can get the more healthier foods. Now for implementing the healthier eating without breaking the bank. I know what puts weight on so now I know definitely what to avoid. It seems any wheat product that is refined or processed adds weight on for me. I still find it hard to entirely avo... Thu, 6 Nov 2014 14:20:47 EST Good Day For a Walk and Gardening http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5711413 Made myself a smoothie with spinach and flaxseed, bannana, frozen berries and skim milk for breakfast. I then set off for a morning walk with the dog. Last night we got a bit of a frost so I hadmto do some rescuing of plants. They should be okay I found that those blue recycle bags make good little green house for peppers and tomatoes. Picked a few weeds out and water the fruit trees. Decided the dog needed a bath so I got that chore out of the way.
Got a few minutes to figure out eating... It helps that their are three of us at my work all trying to get healthy and loose some weight as well. I did my best weight loss when I used the food tracker. So I am going to start using it again because it really helped me to stay in balance with my foods so I didn't get those hunger cravings as much. My metabolism is slow so I need to eat the required calories and the foods that sp... Wed, 4 Jun 2014 19:37:34 EST Making The Most Of My Day Off http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5638637 Well I have two days off so I am going to make the most of it by preparing meals for me to take to work. This has been helping dropped 5 lbs this week as it has been really busy at work. I want to make sure that I am eating healthy because the food we have has too many sugars and salt in them
I make lots of stirfry foods, lots of vegetables and very little meat. I have also been eating a green salad every day. We will see if by next I can drop another 5. Thu, 13 Feb 2014 17:31:54 EST Cooking Healthy can be a Challenge but not impossible. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5613094 I love my slow cooker because it allows me to make healthy meals all in one pot. With the great selection that is offer with spark recipes and some online sites I can find many recipes. When I find recipes that everyone likes I add them to a file that I store online in a folder so they are always with me even if I am traveling and staying with others. I will be going to Mexico in the spring so I am taking a small crock with me as it will allow me the freedom to make a healthy dinner without s... Sun, 15 Dec 2013 14:34:13 EST A Great Day to Prepare Healthy Meals http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5523175 Woke this morning to a blanket of fog. I have decided since I am going to be on call to work so I thought today would be a good day to prepare some meals ahead of time that are healthy and put them in the freezer. When I do this it takes away that thought of what am I going to make on those days that I am busy and tired. This way I don't just make the easiest and maybe not so healthy meal. I feel better because I know that I can just defrost and reheat the prepared meals and I know that they... Fri, 25 Oct 2013 12:49:27 EST Getting Back Into the Routine http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5522486 I have finally found my routine again. I can feel it in the energy that I am now having. It took awhile after our move into a new way of life and a new community. I went to work this week on call. I just finished working 6 days straight but that okay because I don't know when they will need me again. It was great meeting new people and the work gave me something else to do rather than just being at home with my husband. We are back making slow cooker dinners and freezing some for the day... I then sat down to put recipes together for thanksgiving. I told my Mom that I would help with the preparing. I actually wanted to make it as healthy and low in calories as possible. We will have to travel four hours by car to get to where my family lives so I need to prepare food for travel as well the last time I shared a sandwich with my husband from one of our qu... Wed, 9 Oct 2013 20:05:15 EST Vegetables Please to Energize. http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5507202 I have found that I get more energy when I eat more vegetables than when I eat meat, so load me up. I was trying to find out why for the last few months I have felt sluggish and had no energy even though I was exercising everyday. I just couldn't put my finger on it then I decided in October to really get serious with the weight loss again so I started loading up on vegetables. I thought by eating at least five or six fruit a day I was doing good but it wasn't enough I need more vegetables... Mon, 7 Oct 2013 16:53:01 EST Energized for the Day http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5504468 I did a good mornings hike up the mountain this morning. Decided to try something different so I got to sticks about 8 inches long weighing about 2 pounds and hike up and down the mountain path that I use. Last week I mainly did the road walking so I switch it up to the mountain hiking path this week as I am climbing a straight up hill for 15 minutes then down for another 15 giving me my legs a good workout. Today though I added weight to the up climb and down climb. It gives my arms a work... Fri, 4 Oct 2013 13:59:53 EST Fall Changes in the Woods http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5503631 Today as I did my walk I looked around the changes taking place in the woods. The trees have lost their new look shine. The leaves have turned a dull flat grey green. It looks like everything is ready to close down for the winter but if you look carefully you will see that there are plants putting on new growth ones that thrive in winter or cooler weather. So does that mean that even though some plants are shedding and going into hibernation others are getting ready to wake up? Wow does tha... Thu, 3 Oct 2013 15:38:45 EST Self Worth http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5502609 We are essentially born with great self worth, then as life goes on the attitudes of others people can wear us down this natural sense of self-worth. Self-worth is what enables us to believe in ourselves, that we are capable of doing our best with our talents, and that we are beautiful no matter what our body type is. Building it up again is therefore natural, essential, and healthy. My childhood did not build my self worth as my single parent mother struggled with her self worth until she was... I also love to eat what I cook and bake. Last year at the beginning of January is when I decided to change how I cook and bake. I have discovered a whole new way of cooking and understanding of the types of foods that are good for you and the ones that are not so good for you. I discovered whole grains, new vegetables and different types of flours. It was like a whole new world opened up. I also found recipes that tasted good offered lots of nutrition and that my... There are so many temptations out there in the big world we live in. There are the fast food restaurants, the normal cafe restaurants and then their is the fine dining restaurants. There are places we travel too that offer no workout areas to exercise. Now what do you do? Do you hide in your home or do you look at it as a challenge. Well I don't know about any one else but it is a total challenge for me. I don't have a lot of money as I live on... We kept 50 to build the herd up and shipped the rest. Rounding up means lots of walking as they roam on over a 170 acre's. I had my dog with me. She is not a cattle dog but she still is good at rounding them up with my direction. She will get behind the cattle and slowly approach them, she does not bark or nip but she will wait and slowly walk up to them and go back and forth till they start moving. Bei... It is when the harvests is done and we get to sample some great vegetables from the farm. It is when cattle are shipped to market. It is a great time to go fishing. When you go for a walk you can see all the leaves on different trees and bushes all in a different state of change.
Which in away is what I am in. A state of change. I am changing outwardly and inwardly. I am getting myself ready for what is ahead for me. Even my cupboards and fridge have chang... My leg has been in a lot of pain even with pain pills but I have still been walking. Today was the worst but I still got out for two short walks. I don't want to stop walking as I want to keep mobile. I am on a waiting list for surgery so sometime next year. Sun, 15 Sep 2013 19:16:10 EST What makes you Loose? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5483914 I was thinking what is it that makes me want to loose? The first thing that comes to mind is family, followed by health reasons and then the last is for me. Now that I look at what I just wrote. Why did I put me last? Is it that we are always doing things for others before myself? I don't know the answer to that one.

I know for me family is a strong motivator as I want to be able to keep up with the grandchildren. I don't want to be the one that can keep up.
I know that I ... Thu, 12 Sep 2013 18:38:57 EST If I Were a Tree? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5481977 Why a Tree You Ask? Just think about it a tree sheds its leaves in the fall. Wouldn't be great to shed the pounds you gain every fall. Trees also hibernate for 3 to 4 months a year, at least where I live. So that means there would be no gaining weight and then every spring you get new leaves. Would it be great to get a new body every year. Yes to be a tree but wait trees get cut down to make way for new developments and to go to mills. I guess I will just have to be me instead of a tree. ...
