I had some ground turkey but felt no inspiration. I happened to be listening to an oldies station and the song "Great Balls Of Fire" by Jerry Lee Lewis came on. I suddenly decided to make meatballs of fire! I took my ordinary meatball recipe, which is pretty good already, and added some heat.

Here is the recipe but its best made when listening to oldies music!

Ingredients:
3 lb lean ground turkey... Wed, 23 Apr 2014 18:24:52 EST Progress be it ever so small! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5677295 I'm happy to say that I'm making some progress in my fitness as well as healthy eating. Nope, not perfect yet but I'm working towards it and enjoying the process. As far as food, I'm mostly gluten free and eating greens every day, something I promised myself I would accomplish in 2014. I'm eating at least 5 servings of fruit and veggies each day and usually more and I'm not craving sugar and bread the way I used to.

I rarely touch any processed food and eat largely organic, s... I recently took the AAMA national certification exam for medical assistants. I knew the day I took the test that I passed but had to wait 8 weeks for my score and today it came. And it is an amazing 99%! That puts me in the less than 1 percentile of people with that high of a score.

I worked very hard for that score, believe me! I just had some good news today. I found out that my "hip/groin" problem is not my hip or groin, its all in my back. I have no strength in my L-5 whatsoever and I'm extremely weak in my L-4 and S-1. I am not surprised really considering the serious back injury I had in 1991. I've re-injured it several times and its never been the same.

HOWEVER, I think this is great news 224 because its fixable, with time ... I succeeded once, failed once and decided not to make them anymore. This year I changed my mind because I felt so completely disgusted with myself and knew it was time for a change. Not time to think about making a change but to REALLY do it. I decided to make myself accountable for this resolution so that I would REALLY stick with it. My new year's resolution this year is to learn to eat ... Mon, 20 Jan 2014 12:16:03 EST Even the dog loved it! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5587429 About a week ago I started to read "The World's Healthiest Foods" which not only looks at the top nutritious foods but also the exact best method to cook them in order to get the very most nutrition, especially when it comes to vegetables. I found out, much to my dismay, that I have been overcooking my veggies even when steaming them. Yep, just cooking the good stuff right out of my food. So one of the foods, or a group of foods I should say, that I've been wanting but hesitant to try are ... Wed, 8 Jan 2014 21:37:52 EST A New Year Resolution for 2014 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5578003 I have not been one to make new year's resolutions in the past, mostly because I watch other people make them and fail. Wed, 1 Jan 2014 14:01:07 EST Shifting Gears http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5082087 I haven't blogged for a while because I've been busy, suffering with some health issues and evaluating my fitness program and how I'm doing. After a long appointment with my doctor, I decided to stop tracking my food for a while and to work out a bit less and a bit differently. I won't go into detail but my joints are highly stressed and I've become too obsessed with exercise and weight loss which puts me in danger for an Anorexia relapse. So with the advice of my doc, backed up by my husb... Mon, 1 Oct 2012 11:51:58 EST The Tabata http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5073472 Today I did the Tabata Inferno, alone. I hate doing this one alone, I like having someone to share the misery with. I hate the first circuit! Its a hard way to start a tough workout, at least for me. I got through it, though I did struggle through the first circuit. After that I got into it and found myself doing 7-8 pushups today, an improvement but I still have a long way to go. I have found that having some high energy music in the background really helps me. The workouts seem to g... Mon, 24 Sep 2012 20:12:02 EST Today was a good day! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5066908 Today was day 14 of S90 and LEGS. I got up and did the workout prior to breakfast and found that I struggled a bit with a noted lack of energy. LEGS continues to be a challenge for me. I do see my legs getting more defined and toned but I am not noticing a huge increase in strength. I still have a hard time doing lunges with the 6 lb weights, which is frustrating considering the 12 lb weights feel too light for sumo squats and dead lifts. Those darn lunges get me every time. However I W... I closed the curtains but it was too late. Oh well, extra sweat never killed anyone! I managed 7 full form push-ups today, an improvement over the 5 I could do just a few days ago. Sun, 16 Sep 2012 14:36:17 EST Went out a' walkin' http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5056601 Today Gunn and I had planned to take the dog for a long, strenuous hike but we ended up dealing with an ill cat this morning and decided we didn't have time for the planned hike. We didn't let it get us down, we compromised. We took a different hike that we love but it does not offer the killer vicious cruel workout that the other hike does. This hike follows a spawning stream and runs uphill at a 50% incline. I walk it briskly and today paid special attention to using my legs and glutes.... Wed, 12 Sep 2012 19:41:39 EST Deviation from the regular routine http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5055099 I'm only a week into S90 and I'm already deviating from the schedule, another reminder that life throws curve balls and its up to us to react in a positive way and make it work, whatever it is. For me its simple this week...we are going on a very long, very strenuous hike tomorrow with trails that are 90% inclines and going down is even harder! The last time we did this hike we only did about 1/3 of the trails and the following day my legs and butt hurt in places I didn't know were there. ... Tue, 11 Sep 2012 21:15:38 EST Supreme 90 Day Challenge is kicking my butt! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5051428 Today I completed day five. I switched the 4th day's workout (the evil Tabata Inferno) yesterday with day 5's workout of Shoulders and Arms. I did this because Gunn wanted to do Tabata with me, which was due yesterday, but couldn't workout with me until today. So I switched. I noticed yesterday during Shoulders/Arm that my right bicep and deltoid were bothering me and on my 3rd let in the last circuit I had to reduce my weights from 10 lbs to 8 lbs to complete my reps. I was worried that... Sun, 9 Sep 2012 18:55:17 EST Supreme 90 Day Challenge...Round 3 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5046053 As some of you know, since finishing my second round of Supreme 90 Day Challenge, aka S90, I had planned on doing my own exercise thing for a while, mixing up different videos and dvds for a well rounded program, but somehow without the regiment of S90 I found myself floundering and not giving my workouts as much effort as I did in the S90 system. So, I've decided to go back. I restarted today with Chest/Back and noticed that I've lost a lot of strength just since the end of June. Push-ups... When I went off S90 and started doing my own workouts I became less active with my S90 team and have blogged very little. I still log in daily, track my food and fitness, read blogs and articles but for some reason my heart has not been in it. I'm less in touch with friends and team members, therefore losing that motivation that they provide as well as the support and knowledge that I'm not in this alone.... This blog will be short and sweet! I'm still exercising and still have not started another regimented workout system, sticking to my own dvd/vhs collection for so many workouts so I'm never bored and look forward to my workouts each day! I've gained a few pounds and am not sure why. My doc insists that it is menopause causing this weight gain just around my middle. I imagine ... Sat, 11 Aug 2012 21:26:27 EST Another new workout to add to my repertoire http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4986633 Today I was due for a lower body ST workout and decided to try something new. I have a set of 6 workout dvd's that come from the land down under. They are called "Aussie Fit" and Gunn and I did the Great Legs workout today. The workout is 30 minutes which includes a warm up and cool down and mainly targets the upper legs, buns and inner thighs. The fitness group in these workout dvd's are very fit, very enthusiastic and bring a new twist to old favorites such as lunges, inner thigh toners... Wed, 25 Jul 2012 16:29:29 EST Just doing my own thing http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4979505 Lately I've been all over the map with my exercise routine. I'm not following an exercise regimen these days, just winging it day by day and doing my own thing. I am enjoying myself with this, exploring new workouts and figuring out which ones are working best for me. I bought the Jillian Michael's No More Trouble Zones, or whatever its called, and I really like it. For a total workout I can do the whole dvd or for shorter workouts just go circuit by circuit. I've been concentrating on S... Fri, 20 Jul 2012 16:33:50 EST Hot and sweaty in Seattle! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4967730 We finally got some sunny warm weather here and its 345 ...no 27 in sight for days and days and...the only drawback is that on the days I work I get home around 1:30 or 2pm and its darn hot trying to work out, so I've been working up a sweat barely into the workout and am truly drenched when I'm done.

I'm still having fun with all the variety in workouts I have between all the dvds and vhs tapes I have. Today I tried The Firm's Standing Legs and it was tough... Thu, 12 Jul 2012 20:30:08 EST Feeling better and working out again! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4962499 Last time I blogged I was ill and felt no end of my suffering was in sight. Since that time I have learned that I don't have Lupus, which is great news, but it leaves a lot of questions too. Why do I have so many Lupus symptoms, why do I suffer chronic pain in my joints and muscles, why am I deathly allergic to the sun, why am I chronically fatigued? I guess it doesn't much matter either way, I just have to work through the pain and fatigue, something I've done all my life. But the really... Mon, 9 Jul 2012 15:50:41 EST No relief in sight http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4946705 I've been ill for 13 days now, but who's counting...me, thats who! I have had symptoms of severe body aches, not my typical arthritis or myalgias, sore throat and pounding headaches. The symptoms are mild in the mornings and gradually increase during the day and by evening I am completely miserable and unable to function. I finally broke down and went to see the doctor yesterday and of course got tested for many things, including strep throat and mono. Both were negative as I was sure the... Thu, 28 Jun 2012 18:54:05 EST New workout to tell you about! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4941939 Hi all, today I did a workout that I have not done since early 2011. It is called Fitness Revolution and there are 3 dvd's that I know of. There is Above The Belt and Below The Belt and Total Body. Today I did Total Body. It starts with a 5 minute warm-up and then moves through the exercises, all of which you do for one full minute so I found myself using slightly lighter weights in order to get through the whole minute. You alternate with upper and then lower body exercises for about 15... Mon, 25 Jun 2012 16:10:08 EST Onward I go http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4938030 Well I'm finally done with S90 and it feels good! 224 But that doesn't mean I get to take a break so I've been going through my extensive video and dvd workout collection and started to plan my workouts for the week. I'm going to do some S90 but on my own terms. I would like to do Tabata semi-regularly and the Cardio Challenge is a favorite but I really need to concentrate on ST too so plan to do various lower and upper body workouts. I plan to do both cardio and ST every day ... Fri, 22 Jun 2012 17:53:30 EST Out with the old and in with the new! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4933949 Today I finished S90, 244 104 243 me! So that is out with the old! I was so excited to finish S90 I did days 89 and 90 this morning before I started my new job, which is obviously the "in the new" part of my title!

I'm not doing step ups tonight but will do them tomorrow night. My brain is tired from all the information I soaked up today and my learning curve will be huge even though my job is so part time. It will be interesting and I'm trying ...
