GSWINNIE's SparkPeople Blog GSWINNIE's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community Drum Roll Please..... And the child I am carrying is officially a boy.... YAY! 79

We really wanted a boy, well my husband and I did, my daughter is rather disappointed because she wanted a little sister. Wed, 5 Feb 2014 05:50:43 EST Just another change... So I've noticed that ever since I started eating healthier I like different tastes. I have always been a person who doesn't like the taste/texture of fish, and tonight I caved and baked some. I actually liked it however my husband did not, nor did my seven year old. Oh well, I'll figure it out. At least I can eat it. 41 Thu, 16 Jan 2014 19:34:09 EST It's Funny.... Really. I mean I knew I was making better choices but just by rejoining SP, I am more conscious of what I'm doing. I still have only "worked out" one day but I'm making better food choices (even though I don't track). I lost three pounds in a week just by paying better attention. I know that if I don't do exercise I won't lose a lot, however that isn't really my goal right now. My OB my shoot me if I decided to really try to lose a lot of weight while pregnant. But by making better choices I'... Wed, 15 Jan 2014 16:42:54 EST Back again?! Yes, well I'm trying. I never FULLY fell off the wagon. I have been making decent decisions when it comes to food and I always get my 8 cups plus of water a day. I just haven't worked out in ages. For now I have to keep that light. Between a torn rotator cuff and the little person growing inside me, I'm rather limited there. I figure every little bit helps so that's where I'm at on that. Wish me luck! Wed, 8 Jan 2014 06:47:31 EST Abercrombie and Fitch I'm sure everyone has heard about this by now but I'm going to put my two cents in on this.
Apparently the CEO of Abercrombie and Fitch said, when asked to carry sizes larger than the size 10 that is currently their max, that people that are larger than that shouldn't wear his clothing, he only caters to beautiful people and people larger have no business in his store.

I think people are blowing this out of proportion. Yes, he is a moron for saying what he did. Is he a jacka... Mon, 13 May 2013 09:40:50 EST Don't they monitor this stuff? I understand that SparkPeople is a free site and therefore uses advertisers to keep it that way. BUT, don't you think someone would monitor what they are advertising? I just had a page with a HUGE Denny's Baconalia ad on the side and a Jimmy Dean pancake wrapped sausage on the bottom.... I mean REALLY? Tue, 7 May 2013 05:42:35 EST struggling Well, I've finally gotten back into the routine of exercise again. Never really was a problem for me I just had to make it a priority again. My problem is EATING. I do well in the morning and at lunch but then... the dreaded mid-afternoon boredom hits and I can't make my body stop eating. I've tried water and working out but it doesn't help. This is usually the time I am getting home from work when this hits and it's much to early for dinner. I try eating a piece of fruit but it doesn't leave... Fri, 3 May 2013 05:31:08 EST And she keeps going and going... and going.....

So far today I have walked 8 miles. I did a 2 mile walk away the pounds workout this morning, then I walked my daughter to school (a mile each way) and picked her up the same way. Plus we went to two different parks about a half mile away from home. So, I feel like I've done a lot today but at the same time not really. It's just such a beautiful day that I hate to waste it inside. Mon, 29 Apr 2013 16:54:51 EST as if I didn't have enough to do in the morning.... I have spent the last two mornings doing a workout before work because otherwise I don't want to work out on days I have to work. I work at six in the morning so me getting up to get to work on time is hard enough but now I'm making myself do at least a 15 minute workout before work. It's hard but I feel much better once I do it. Sun, 28 Apr 2013 19:44:53 EST Day Off Today was my day off. I got up early and did six loads of laundry followed by cleaning my kitchen top to bottom and rearranging it. I feel like I got a lot accomplished. I just finished walking almost two miles with my dog tonight. Sat, 13 Apr 2013 20:29:23 EST Up Way Too Early I woke up two hours early today (which may not seem like that big of a deal but I generally wake up at 4 am) and decided that since I couldn't sleep I may as well do a workout. So now that I am officially sweaty and hot but rejuvenated, I'm going to have a much better day.... Hopefully. Fri, 12 Apr 2013 04:49:56 EST Ugh I think I over did it last night. My in-laws took us out for my birthday and we went to a steakhouse. Well, I got a big steak, baked potato, and broccoli. It wasn't bad choices, it was simply HUGE portions, and I ate it all. Well this morning my body rebelled against me and I was very sick this morning and I ended up getting rid of everything in my stomach and really haven't been able to eat anything all day. I had a banana, some fruit salad, and a couple chicken nuggets. It even hurts my thr... Thu, 11 Apr 2013 17:35:21 EST Starting a new year off right Well, it's a new year for me. Today is my 28th birthday and I decided that there was no better gift to myself than a good workout. So I popped in my Leslie Samsone Walk Away the Pounds DVD and did the one mile get up and get started. Wow, I feel much better after it, even though I feel out of shape and it was difficult. Not as bad as when I first started but still a challenge. I'm hoping I can make it a habit. Wed, 10 Apr 2013 06:47:02 EST Early Birthday Gift to Myself I decided I needed a drastic change. So for an early birthday present to myself I went and got my hair colored.

Before

After

Drastic enough? I totally LOVE it! Fri, 5 Apr 2013 06:02:38 EST Well... slap in the face So... I finally did it... got on the dreaded scale. I've been avoiding it simply because I haven't been working out or eating properly. Well, I've gained back 15 of the 40 pounds I had lost. I have to turn this around... I've got to snap back into this so my goal is to get back where I was by my anniversary, which is June 6th. This means I need to lose 1.5 pounds a week... I can do that, I swear I can... Sat, 30 Mar 2013 19:11:45 EST Working out before the brain realizes what you are doing... So, I woke up really early today and couldn't fall back asleep and decided to throw on my workout clothes and get a quick workout in. I planned on just 10 minutes but I found my workout bands and did a strength training workout and I figured I was already warmed up so I jogged and danced around in my living room for another 12 minutes before walking around my apartment to cool down and stretch. I love the feeling of accomplishment when I do this sort of thing. Now I will just watch my food al... Wed, 27 Mar 2013 06:38:34 EST Wow Well, yesterday I said screw it and not only did I go for a walk at the walking path accross the street from me yesterday morning but I decided to go for another in the afternoon to clear my head. Well in the afternoon I walked around it once and was still pensive so I decided to jog around it. ALL the way. It's only about 3/4s of a mile but that's pretty far for a person who doesn't run, especially someone who hasn't been doing exercise for awhile. I was kinda proud of myself. It was slow bu... Wed, 13 Mar 2013 07:09:48 EST Random Thoughts I really don't know what I want to say but I feel the urge to write/type something out. Life has been very stressful lately. I don't want to get into details but it has been very hard on me and my relationship with my husband. I am trying to get another job because my current one is really just screwing me over. At the same time I don't really want to get another one simply because I will feel as though I am missing out on being with my child even more. If I get a job in the afternoon, starti... Thu, 7 Mar 2013 06:35:26 EST Girls Night So last night I went out with the girls from work. We went to a place that they had gone to before but I hadn't. After having a really bad day at work I needed to get out. And of course all my friends heard about my day and decided the best course of action was to give me alcohol... and lots of it. I didn't finish a drink for more than two minutes before I had another in front of me. And I was dancing, a lot, so I was thirsty. After about seven vodka and cranberry juices I told the bartender ... Sat, 16 Feb 2013 07:32:12 EST Changing my ticker I changed my ticker to count down to my anniversary this year. My husband and I are taking a trip for it so this will be a helpful reminder on how long I have to wait. Mon, 4 Feb 2013 07:23:36 EST Interesting Facts on Cinnamon and Honey Who Woulda Thought it? CINNAMON AND HONEY!

Honey is the only food on the planet that will not spoil or rot. It will do what some call turning to sugar. In reality honey is always honey. However, when left in a cool dark place for a long time it will do what I rather call "crystallizing" When this happens I loosen the lid, boil some water, and sit the honey container in the hot water, turn off the heat and let it liquefy. It is then as good as it ever was. Never boil honey or put it... Tue, 22 Jan 2013 06:34:44 EST Had a day from H*ll and just need to vent about stuff So yesterday was kinda a day from Hell at work. I work in the bakery department of a grocery store. I went in and the person who closed left the entire bakery a mess. She didn't face anything, didn't fill anything, didn't take out her trash and just generally didn't do anything. Well, this is upsetting because this person is one of only two people in the department getting 40 hours a week. Our company has decided that everyone is only allowed to work 27 hours a week or less unless they are fu... Mon, 21 Jan 2013 06:04:57 EST Swiss Ball and rambling So I got one of those exercise balls the other day and finally inflated it. I'm right at the max weight limit for it so I can't use it with any added weights so I need to search around for bodyweight exercises to do with it. I found a couple on here so I will have to try them out later.

My to do list for today involves a lot of light cleaning. For the most part I have finished the heavy cleaning of my house so now it's just upkeep. Which is actually rather exciting for me. I grew ... Tue, 15 Jan 2013 07:36:18 EST Planning Dinners In my goal of being more organized in the new year I am trying my hand at planning my meals in advance. I simply can not grasp planning every meal seeing as how my and my husband's work schedules change constantly, so I am starting with supper. I have almost 2 weeks planned already and feeling pretty good about it. For the most part they are healthy, well-balanced meals (minus pizza night and hamburger helper night). Sadly, my husband realized just how much chicken we are eating. Shh... I was... Mon, 14 Jan 2013 07:45:41 EST New Goal So I gave myself a new goal. I am going to give myself a to do list every day that way I can feel accomplished that I am getting stuff done and I have a reminder of all I need to do in a day. Yesterday was my first day experimenting with this and it totally worked. I feel like I got so much accomplished even though it was only small tasks. Sometimes we overlook the small things when you have larger tasks staring you in the face. BUT, if you break up the larger tasks it doesn't seem so big. Fo... Thu, 10 Jan 2013 07:44:03 EST Baby Steps Today I made myself move as much as possible. I walked my daughter to and from school instead of driving her even though it was cold out. I danced around while I did dishes. I made bread from scratch (btw kneading bread dough is SO a strength workout). And I did a weight training circuit tonight while watching tv. Little by little it will add up to something great.

Tomorrow is supposed to be my first weigh in this time around, not sure if I can do that. I haven't been all that gre... Mon, 7 Jan 2013 21:18:11 EST Food BLAH So I was doing great on making good food choices today until it came time for supper... I planned on making soup with some leftover turkey that we had, but it had turned on us (rather quickly I might add) so I had to nix that idea. Instead my husband just ordered pizza and I ended up totally gorging myself. I know I should have stopped but pizza is one of my trigger foods.

On a positive note, I MADE myself do at least some upper body strength training tonight. I couldn't do full b... Wed, 2 Jan 2013 22:43:01 EST New Years Day 5K Just a little FYI to all you outdoor workout enthusiasts... 10 degree weather really sucks to work out in. My husband and I did the New Years Day 5K at the lakefront in Chicago today and it was very cold and the path was a little icy. But we did it. I haven't been doing much by way of exercise so my goal was to make it in an hour. We did it in 59 minutes. Not to mention all the walking around we did BEFORE the event even started. I probably walked about 10 miles today. I am exhausted but I fi... Tue, 1 Jan 2013 15:17:51 EST New Year, New Attitude Alright, well I'm back. I am determined now more than ever to lose this weight. My husband and I really want to have another child and in order to do so I need to get down to a much healthier weight. So, I am back on board and am going to try to be very diligent about tracking everything. The best part? I am starting the year of right because my DH and I are going to be doing the New Years Day 5K in downtown Chicago today. I will post my results later and hopefully do not kill myself trying t... Tue, 1 Jan 2013 07:39:14 EST Lost It After being on Sparkpeople for a year and a half I have lost my spark. I have been stuck for over a year now and I'm just tired of it. I'm not getting anywhere so I may as well stop pretending I am by being on here. This is probably good bye for a very long time. I wish you all luck in your journeys. I should get back to my quotes of the day but life has been hectic lately and I really haven't taken the time to do much of anything on spark other than get my spins and such.

I finally got "promoted", basically I got switched to the department that I really wanted to work at in the store and I am adjusting to the new schedule. I went from working just about any shift in the deli, to working every morning at 6 am baking. I love being the bakery but... Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has. -- Margaret Mead Wed, 26 Sep 2012 09:25:57 EST My First 5K So this past Sunday, September 23rd I walked my first official 5K. It was the Brookfield Zoo Run Run for the Chicago Zoological Society. I gave myself the goal of finishing in 50 minutes and made it in 49 so I was rather pleased. I took pictures of the day but for some reason the site won't let me upload them.

Wed, 26 Sep 2012 08:16:04 EST Unbelievable what people will market these days.... Okay, so I admit it, I am an infomercial junkie... I LOVE watching them. I can't help it. And sometimes the products are pretty cool (even if they never actually do all you see them do on the "show"). But this morning I was OUTRAGED to see a commercial for the "Food Lover's Fat Loss System". Has anyone else seen this? It basically says you can still eat all the foods you love, you just need to learn how to eat them the right way.... Basically, this whole plan is telling people how to make the... So I signed up today for my first official 5K. I will be walking it due to issues I've had wih my ankle and having to stop running. It's for the Brookfield Zoo, which is a zoo local to Chicago. I will be walking solo because it's an early day and someone has to stay with the little one at the sidelines. I'm excited. It's Sunday. On Sunday, my favorite work jeans kept falling down. 9 Well just for fun I decided to try on different sizes of jeans to see where I am at now. I started this journey between a size 28-32 (depending on the cut of the jeans.) I tried on FOUR different styles all in a size 22!!! 244 I was so excited. I didn't get any new jeans... I still have some 24s that fit me well enough that I can't justify purchasing new... Fri, 14 Sep 2012 13:33:59 EST
