Sun, 5 May 2013 00:42:02 EST Lost 15 pounds in 1 week http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5304593 I lost 15 pounds in 1 week on the Medical Weight Loss Clinic diet. Basically it is a diet of 1800-2000 calories, no sugar, low fats, high protein, 4 servings of vegetables, 3 of fruits (certain ones low in sugar) and 3 servings under 300 calories total of starch (low in sugar starches). I'm a sugar addict. This diet is helping me get my life back. This is the first diet that is addressing my sugar addiction ( and in some ways my emotional overeating). Fri, 29 Mar 2013 17:00:45 EST Fasting for blood draw http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5304195 I had to write myself a note and have it tapped at the bottom of the computer screen here at work. It reads, "Do not eat". Yeah, I need the reminder. Today is the day that I go to MWLC to have my blood drawn to restart the program with them. When I got on the scale this morning I'd only lost 1 pound since Wednedays weigh in. I was surprised. I was sure I had lost more. As I log my foods into sparkpeople, I see that I am way over on the protein requirement because I am following the MWLC diet.... Fri, 29 Mar 2013 10:40:45 EST Lost another 3 pounds http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5303223 From Monday, 3/25/13, through Wednesday, 3/27/13, I've lost another 3 pounds on the medical weight loss clinic diet. It is working and that feels wonderful! Finally, something that is working. I weighed in Monday at lunch time and weighed in Wednesday at dinner time. For me to have lost 3 pounds in two days weighing in after work is amazing. Thu, 28 Mar 2013 12:38:16 EST Back on track http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5302195 I started back with medical weight loss clinic here in Michigan last week on Friday 3/22/2013. I did the intial cleanse and lost 9.2 pounds in 3 days. Today I weighed in on my scale when I went home for lunch and found I'd lost another 2-3 pounds. Yeah me. :) I feel better. At 435 pounds when I started, that was one seriously heavy load to carry. Now I'm focused again and follow MWLC strick diet, which is helping me lose weight. Wed, 27 Mar 2013 15:31:44 EST So I can keep track http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5257110 Today it was snowing and blowing when I woke at 4:10 A.M. I didn't want to go workout, but I want to change my weight, so I got dressed after about an hours worth of contemplation on the subject of working out and went to the gym.

I started doing the circuit (I go to Planet Fitness), but there were three other women doing the circuit too. I felt it was crowded, so I went off and did some on the floor machines. I worked out on the machines for about 20 minutes. In the weight area I... Wed, 20 Feb 2013 07:36:50 EST Worked out before work http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5197336 This morning I woke at 6:23 a.m. couldn't get back to sleep, so got up and went to the gym. I think boredom is a major motivator to get me to go workout.

I only did the circuit, but it was well worth the 20 minutes it took me. I felt I got a very nice muscle pop by only doing the circuit.

I showered and ran out the door for work.

What a nice way to start my day. :) Tue, 8 Jan 2013 17:15:51 EST Here come the excuses! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5194862 I finished 2012 by going to the gym a total of 5 times for the year, four of those being the last week in December. I started 2013 by going to the gym four times. I wanted to go this weekend, but didn't and now for the excuses.

Saturday I was to meet my sister, brother and mother at Red Lobster for lunch to celebrate mom's birthday. I ordered the shrimp linguine and ate half. The rest I boxed up. At home, I felt too full to go workout, so I took a nap.

Sunday, I met my s... Mon, 7 Jan 2013 11:34:33 EST Slept through the night http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5189654 Finally I slept through the night. I woke when my alarm went off at 7:10 a.m. Had to peel myself from the bed. I'm not going to beat myself up for missing a day at the gym. My body really needed the rest. Fri, 4 Jan 2013 09:07:06 EST Gym, shower, chicken and sleep http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5187661 I woke up this morning around 3:30 a.m. I went to bed at 8:30 p.m. Went to the gym, worked out for 20 minutes on the circuit doing various weights. Did the eliptical for 3 minutes (was nervous about breaking the machine because the weight on it only went up to 350). Showered, went to Meijer, bought some chicken breast, put some in the oven and went back to sleep for an hour. Wow! What a morning. Thu, 3 Jan 2013 08:07:04 EST Back to the gym http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5185715 This morning I woke up around 4 a.m. couldn't go back to sleep so I went to the gym and worked out.

After being bucked off the treadmill Dec. 31, I was nervous about getting back on one, but I did get back on one--the usual one I walk on. Not wishing to push my luck I only walked for 5 minutes then did the circuit for 20 minutes. Yeah me for going back. Wed, 2 Jan 2013 09:46:12 EST Bucked off treadmill literally http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5182432 I took a long nap yesterday, so I was up and at them at 2:30 a.m. and decided to go to Planet Fitness to workout. I got on the treadmill and after sucessfully completing 7:32 minutes, I accidently hit the stop button. I could not get the machine to restart so I stepped over to the treadmill next to it. That treadmill had a very jerky start. It was going slow, so I upped the speed and was walking along fine when all of the sudden the machine lurched. I lost my balance, but then regained it. Th... Mon, 31 Dec 2012 15:19:22 EST Am I ready for a New Year? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5180820 I think so...how about you? What are you doing today that you will continue in the New Year? I don't believe in setting New Year resolutions because they are promises to myself yet to be broken. I went to the gym yesterday and had a good workout. My muscles ache today. Last night I set up my profile on Gold's Gym Dance Workout for Wii. I was so thankful that when I put in my weight at 412 (I still don't believe my scale that I'm supposedly 409) that the trainer in the game didn't scream and t... Sun, 30 Dec 2012 11:45:35 EST Lost 2 pounds or my scale is wrong http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5180132 I'm not sure about this. I have a talking scale, so it is hard to fudge on my weight when I'm weighing in. I weighed in last night after work and the scale said "410 pounds". I was thrilled. This morning I weighed in and it took the scale a while to make up its mind. When it spoke it said "409 pounds". I'm very skeptical and think there may be something very wrong with my scale. Maybe I need to recharge the chargeable batteries in it.

I don't feel like I weigh less than 418. I sho... Sat, 29 Dec 2012 19:07:39 EST Worked out http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5180115 I worked out on Sunday, December 23 and again this morning, Dec. 29. No one else is going to the gym for me, so I'm going. This is only the third time this year that I've gone to the gym. Yeah me :) I'm very proud of myself. Now if I can just keep going back. Sat, 29 Dec 2012 18:56:05 EST Computer glitches http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5171355 I've been experiencing some computer glitches that have kept me from logging in to Sparkpeople. I called a computer place and they gave me free advice on how to speed up my computer and what I needed to do. I'm very happy to report that their advice helped me and I'm back on sparkpeople. :) Wed, 19 Dec 2012 19:02:15 EST getting back on the wagon http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5163971 There's no better time than the week before Christmas to get back on the wagon again. Haven't been doing well these last few months. Got on the scale at the doctors over the weekend and found I'd lost 5 pounds. Yah hooo!! No time like the present to try again :) Yeah me!!! Wed, 12 Dec 2012 05:51:34 EST Is there hope? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5095015 Haven't been on the wagon for a while now. Is there hope? Thu, 11 Oct 2012 09:22:45 EST It will be one month... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5047295 Tomorrow marks my one month anniversary of hiding, of not being honest with myself about my weight, what I eat or how much--or little--I move and there isn't anything I want to do about it. I'm still in hiding after a 5 pound set back and plan to continue being hidden and ignoring the problem. Thu, 6 Sep 2012 15:31:51 EST Raining all morning http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5008241 Yeah for the rain!! So glad it has been raining all morning.
Thu, 9 Aug 2012 12:40:23 EST Feeling lost http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5005076 I'm still reeling from the post yesterday and this weekend.
Okay, moving forward...I feel heavier.
In thinking about what I'll eat tonight at home...I have no idea. Picturing the food in my frig does not excite me. I don't feel like much of anything and am still mad at myself for the weight gain this weekend.

At home tonight I'll probably have two potatoes and some dressing like I did last night :( I brought about 4 cups of homegrown cherry tomatoes as a snack at work.... Tue, 7 Aug 2012 12:59:21 EST What the Hades!!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5003079 Saturday morning I weighed in at 417.2. What the Hades!!! Last week I weighed 412.2 so I gained 5 pounds in one week??? Okay, so I skipped two days of walking for 10 minutes and ate a lot of sodium rich foods, but other than that I stayed on course for the week :(

I did have a ...how do I word this tactfully??? a visit from that monthly nuisance, so that could have played a part too.

This is so frustrating. It really knocked out my confidence and I ate like a starved pig... Mon, 6 Aug 2012 08:59:52 EST Olympics and being tired http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4996104 I stayed up until 11:30 p.m. watching the olympics (yeah, I know I spelled it wrong) and saw the U.S. take gold in women's gymnastics and the mens 400 relay swimming. Those were the two events I wanted to see the outcome of and so, sleep had to wait.

Now, I'm beat and do not feel much like walking let alone keeping my eyes open. Note to self: go to bed at your usual time of 9 p.m. and watch the recap online.

Anyone else stay up to watch these events?
By the way, I... Wed, 1 Aug 2012 10:16:02 EST Walking http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4994615 I don't feel much like walking today, but must. So far I walked around for about 5 minutes outside, but it was too hot for me (around 80 degrees). Back at my desk and after finishing some tasks, I walked around inside our air-conditioned building for another five minutes.

I haven't slept well these past two days. Sunday night my cat, Muff, decided to use me as a jungle jim and jumped on me about every hour until 1:30 in the morning when I picked him up by the scrap of the neck and... Tue, 31 Jul 2012 11:17:56 EST Butter http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4992725 Yesterday, I cooked a lobster tail and of course melted butter to go with it. I melted a whole stick of butter put it and the lobster in a large bowl and ate the whole thing--lobster tail (which is very low in calories) and the whole melted stick of butter. It was delicious. I did have to add quite a bit of salt to the mix because lobster does not have a lot of flavor by itself. I used unsalted butter too.

As I cooked the lobster I knew it would end in butter and wondered what alt... Mon, 30 Jul 2012 08:47:53 EST You make the difference for me http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4991453 Thank you everyone who has ever read my blog and left a comment for me. You make the difference in my perserverance in this weight loss journey. You make me feel good about myself, you reaffirm that I am worthwhile and I appreciate the love and support I feel from each one of you.

Thank you so much for being here for me. I look forward to your comments. I enjoy reading your stories too about your struggles and how glad you are that I'm not giving up.

I was concerned abo... Sun, 29 Jul 2012 09:42:21 EST Lost 3.4 yeah http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4990274 I weighed in today and found I'd lost 3 pounds and 4 ounces. Yeah! All the walking, making better food choices and such is working. I was worried that I might have gained because I had a very high sodium dinner and snack last night.

I'm noticing small things like I can get up a lot easier out of my easy chair (which before was not so easy to get out of and quite a struggle). I feel better even with these small weekly losses. So glad to be alive today. Sat, 28 Jul 2012 09:51:02 EST Thankful http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4988983 Today, I am thankful that I was able to reach my heels in the shower this morning so I could scrub the imbedded dead skin and dirt off.

-I'm thankful that I could reach my back with the foo foo scrubbie.
-I'm thankful my ankles and feet were smaller--not as puffy this morning.
-I'm thankful I am able to walk around without much pain.

-I'm thankful my cat didn't come in last night because I got in about 10 minutes of exercise alternating between walking to head ... Fri, 27 Jul 2012 09:27:01 EST Tub of Frosting http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4987724 It's been a while since I've eaten a tub of frosting. After answering a reply to my previous "My 400-Pound Bikini Body" blog I wonder why I've allowed myself to get so out of control.

* I've tried and failed to lose weight in the past.
* After about two weeks I find I gain weight, which is usually water weight.
* I have edema, which a lot of people and well-meaning weight loss agencies from Weight Watchers to Medical Weight Loss Clinic do not understand and have scolded... Thu, 26 Jul 2012 11:16:34 EST My 400-Pound Bikini Body http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4986143 I weigh 415 pounds and no, I do not have a bikini body, but have you ever wanted to do something shocking? Yesterday, I answered a bathing suit question on Sparkpeople. It was a question as to what type of bathing suit you would wear. I chose bikini not because I would look good in a bikini but because I like the potential shock factor of being a 400-pound woman prancing up and down the beach in a bikini.

Think of the motivational potential for beach goers. Would they run off the... Wed, 25 Jul 2012 10:45:05 EST Item that took me three hours to eat http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4985152 This morning I was determined to hit the restart button, which I am very pleased to report I did. I brought lots of yummies to work with me--healthy yummies such as nectarines, yogurt, corn on the cob, cottage cheese, peanut butter....

As I worked, I ate bites of Greek yogurt. It was rich and creamy and oh sooooo good. The morning sped by, yet I was still working on eating that yogurt. I savored every bite. It took me three hours to eat the yogurt, which is wonderful because I'm on... Tue, 24 Jul 2012 17:14:34 EST Walked 20 minutes http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4984671 Just came back from a long walk with the walking club. All total I walked 20 minutes. Their goal was to do a total of 1 mile. I did about 1/4-1/2 mile. I'm not sure of the distance because I pooped out half way through and needed to turn around.

Even so, I am thrilled that I tried and now have a new goal for which to reach. I know that if I can walk up to the stop sign at Beech Daily Road I will have walked a 1/2 mile. Coming back to the office will be a total of 1 mile. :) I can ... Tue, 24 Jul 2012 10:42:36 EST Near the End of the Day http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4983537 Okay, so even though I planned out my day with what I was going to eat, I freaked out mid morning because I was overly hungry. I went to McDonald's and had a no salt (like that saved me any calories) double cheese burger. Okay, I had two. :/ Think I will opt for cereal for dinner.

I was too hungry today and wanted to eat meat. I didn't bring any with me--thus my caloric downfall. I rack this up to yet another learning experience.

"Tomorrow is a new day with no mistakes... Mon, 23 Jul 2012 16:20:22 EST Morning Everyone Here's to a Good Day http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4982828 Here's to a good day for us all. I've recorded what I plan to eat on the sparks food tracker, am 200 calories over so I'll need to do some tweeking. Dinner is always the heaviest meal for me. I'm at home close to food and can cook something wonderful. Tonight a Turkey bacon BLT sounds wonderful. The tomatoes are ripening in the garden and I have lots. I've planned to eat two sandwiches tonight, but the four slices of bread puts me over my calorie limit. So I may opt for one sandwich and wrap ... Mon, 23 Jul 2012 08:55:32 EST Weight weigh in wa hooo http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4981431 Yesterday, I weighed in with and without my shoes. It's is final. My shoes really do weigh 2 pounds. I weighed 415.8 and lost a total of 2 pounds 14 ounces. Yeah! I think I celebrated way too much because I made a cake in the microwave using just water and ate 3/4 of it. Ummm, yeah I did. So much for the weight loss.

Even though I ate quite a bit of cake (without frosting) (and a whole large Babka--polish sweetbread on Friday) the day was not a loss. Not sure why I did this. I wan... Sun, 22 Jul 2012 08:58:30 EST Not feeling up to par today http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4979132 Not feeling great today. One of my goals is to log in every day and post something...that is what I'm doing. Hope everyone is doing well. Fri, 20 Jul 2012 11:34:06 EST Container Gardening http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4977388 Finally last night and this morning it has rained here in South Central Michigan. I am so thankful for it. When I arrived home last night from work the buckets I keep under a leaking eaves trough were full. Yeah! Now I'll be able to water my container garden with rain water instead of water from the faucet.

This year I finally figured out how to grow a thriving garden in containers--such as 5 gallon buckets. Having a hydro tomato garden has taught me a lot. I realized that I haven... Thu, 19 Jul 2012 08:53:56 EST Found Pedometer http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4975749 It was right where I left it yesterday. I found it when I was getting ready for bed. Both pedometers were still fastened to the waistband of the shorts I'd worn to bed the other night. Whew! I'm so glad I found them and am wearing them today. Yeah. Wed, 18 Jul 2012 08:54:06 EST Lost Pedometer http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4974131 This morning I put on the two pedometers and somewhere between there and here I lost them. I sat up on the edge of my bed, attached the two pedometers to my undies, set off for the bathroom and somehow lost them during the 25 or so steps to the bathroom and back to the bed.

I looked for these things for about seven minutes, but did not find them. The pedometer I was given at work is a basic meter, but the other one went to my Nintendo Walking Coach game. I really need to find it o... Tue, 17 Jul 2012 08:50:17 EST Weigh In wha hoo! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4971028 I'd already eaten breakfast and drank a 32 ounce glass of water when I went to weigh in at the local Medical WEight Loss Clinic. I weighed in with my shoes on and without using the restroom. I weighed 420.0. Yeah!! I went to the restroom and then took my shoes off and weighed again. I was 418!! Yah hoo!! It's working!!! I am so thrilled. Whew! Sun, 15 Jul 2012 09:54:32 EST More than 5800 steps yeah http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4971021 Yesterday, I walked over 5800 steps. In the morning I went to the gym and tried to walk a 20 minute mile. I could not, but I did walk for 10 solid minutes. Yeah!!!

Today, I'm wearing the Nintendo Walking Coach pedometer and the one from work. The one from work racks up the steps a lot faster than the Nintendo one...maybe I need to change the battery in that one. Sun, 15 Jul 2012 09:50:05 EST Over 1100 steps since 1:15 today http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4969049 Today at work, a member of the Henry Ford Hospital team came in and spoke to a pre-registered group about walking more. We were given pedometers and a journal in which to keep track of our daily steps. I've been trying to walk more for the past three days. So far today--since getting the step counter thing, I've walked 1106 steps. Yeah me!! I'm hoping to get in 3000 total steps or more today. Fri, 13 Jul 2012 17:21:55 EST Over 3000 steps yesterday http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4968309 Yesterday I am so thrilled to report that I accomplished the goal of walking 3000 steps--actually a bit over--for the day. Today I'm wearing the Nintendo Walking Coach device, which will track my steps and when I took them. It's a great investment and is helping keep me on track with my moving more goal.

In order to save money, I cut off my internet service at home. So this morning I came in early to work. I put on the nutrition tracker what I plan to eat once I get home so I can ... Fri, 13 Jul 2012 08:39:29 EST Walked over 2600 steps today http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4967580 I just checked my monitor for the day and so far I've walked over 2600 steps during the course of the work day. Thu, 12 Jul 2012 17:31:13 EST Nintendo and Weight Loss http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4965402 Today, I'm wearing my walking tracker on my bra (I don't have a pocket in which to put it). It's from the Nintendo Walking something or other game piece thingy. Well, that was clear wasn't it. In other words I don't remember the name of this device. I haven't tried to increase my steps from yesterday. I want to see how much I am moving on a regular day and then increase from there.

Counting steps yesterday really helped me think about how much or little I am moving on a daily basis... Wed, 11 Jul 2012 11:39:25 EST Homemade Maynaise http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4963887 I was looking for a light version of maynaise and found this.
I wonder if I only added 1/4 cup of oil (olive oil) would it still taste good?

Homemade Maynnaise
Makes about 3/4 cup

To Make Traditional Egg Yolk Mayonnaise:

1 large egg yolk, save white for later use
3 teaspoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
1/4 teaspoon salt, plus more to taste
1/2 teaspoon smooth dijon mustard (not whole grain)
3/4 cup canola oil

To Make E... Tue, 10 Jul 2012 12:39:00 EST walked 700 steps http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4963733 Just came in from break. I walked over 700 steps and a total of 10 minutes!! Yeah me~!!! :)
I am so thrilled. This is the longest I've walked in a while. Feels good to try exercising again. My right leg and right under belly area started hurting as I finished the walk, but I finished it. Yeah!! Tue, 10 Jul 2012 11:04:38 EST Cedar Point Amusement Park http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4963674 Cedar Point Amusement Park is one mile long from the front entrance to the furthest back ride. Now that I know how long it is I know how far I must be able to walk on the treadmill. I need to work up to doing 1 mile (and then 2 if I want to ever leave the park).

To rent an electric vehicle cart it is $45 a day with a refundable $20 deposit. This is an option if I find I cannot do the walking. Hmmm, it might be fun to walk the park, take the train back and then the sky lifts, rent ... Tue, 10 Jul 2012 10:39:28 EST Greenfield Village Goal http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4963644 So I need to walk more, that's a given, but in order to do this I need to have a goal--something to reach for--something with an end in sight.
