GRAMMACATHY's SparkPeople Blog GRAMMACATHY's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community 5K Progress Report Today, I walked 3.3 miles with two 5 minute breaks. Buddy probably walked 5 miles. The river was calm, but it was raining and there was sleet mixed in so I wore two coats, a scarf, my day pack with purse and letterboxing stuff in it and used the walking poles. I put the life jacket on Buddy to help keep him warm. Since he likes to run down to the river, I was less worried about him leaping in after a duck with the jacket.

First lap my fingers were numb cold and my face felt br... I needed a ten week challenge. Something with a beginning and an ending. My daily walk average was 2000-3000 steps. All winter, I lapped the dog park once a day and it seemed hard. I wasn't even making the quarter mile lap around the ball park. I could only w... Thu, 16 Feb 2017 18:48:19 EST 2016 Year In Review January: After spending six months cleaning and fixing the country house so a couple realtors could string along a poor buyer with a USDA loan after I told them repeatedly, I did not have the money to make the repairs they requested, the realtor placed my house on the market. It sold in three days for what I was asking plus the new buyer paid all closing costs. He also requested it to close in two weeks. What a wonderful blessing to start the New Year. I paid off all the rest of the debt... Fri, 30 Dec 2016 21:56:31 EST Food addiction I have always said I was a foodaholic, but never seriously thought about what that meant. I suppose it was more of an excuse for my compulsive eating.

** say....but you eat so healthy????

True, that is all true. I do eat healthy when I am on track and focused. I eat simple healthy foods in moderation. I eat organic eggs, and produce. I make lovely soups with chicken. I eat organic steel cut oatmeal. I make protein and fruit slushies and I juice green... Fri, 30 Sep 2016 13:02:47 EST Panic Attacks Yes, I had one in college at age forty two while working on my MS. However, what prompted this is that GDs friend texted her from college. My GD is living at home while attending community college, but her friend moved to a dorm. Tonight she asked for help because she was having a panic attack and GD asked me for advice. After talking a bit about PTSD and grief, I decided to back up and work on the simple and immediate needs. After composing my list in an e-mail, I decided to save it here... Side perk is that everything including things like potassium and chloride and sodium were all in the normal range. I am eating enough potassium rich food and avoiding enough sodium laden food. I use a lot of sea salt and was not sure if that was good or bad. Apparently it is just right. I was still pretty miserable Saturday, but today I am at 100%. Fri, 27 Mar 2015 12:33:53 EST Hospital Day 2 DH was much better today. Ruled out flu and TB. Still trying to figure out which bug caused him to get the pneumonia. He was briefly in better humor. Then he wanted more drugs for pain. Doctor recommended Tylenol to go with the narcotics he is already receiving. He refused that. He is not a happy man. Thu, 26 Mar 2015 23:34:04 EST DH in hospital With double pneumonia again. He is not nearly as sick this time as he was June 2008. However, he is so frail from seven years of not caring for himself or those around him. Seven years ago I was not as angry and bitter as I am now. Wed, 2 Oct 2013 22:48:21 EST Letter from the President In my retirement I have taken to writing letters to politicians to promote education aka as propaganda to promote peace and resolve conflicts. The glory of the internet era is that you can write one letter on Word and copy and paste it to several different politicians getting your desires known. One million people can influence politics. I know this because of AARP's success in getting the government to leave our Social Security alone. Some pretty scary proposals have been made and failed...
