Wed, 7 Aug 2013 23:30:09 EST Vacation review and restatement of August goals http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5447489 I spent twelve hours on the road yesterday to get home from my vacation. I am drained today. My vacation was better this time than the last trip we took to the same place. I made sure I packed my own breakfast foods(yogourt, almonds, grapes) and ate them every morning instead of eating the bacon and eggs my husband insisted on serving. Also, I packed a large amount of fresh cut veggies, and ate them all. I drank lots of water every day. Some of my downfalls: 1) no exercise. I could have walke... Wed, 7 Aug 2013 10:25:52 EST July review August goals http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5439949 My big goal for July was to lose 6.4 pounds for a goal weight of 226.4. I DID IT! My weigh in this morning was 226.4. Down 1.2 pounds from last week. So, what did I do right to achieve this success? 8-10 cups of water daily; more consistency with my daily walks; writing my morning pages and using my food journal; eating more freggies. Also, I have been more mindful of my portion sizes and eating less healthy options in moderation.

My goal for August is to lose an additional... The easy access will greatly impact my intake for sure. I will spend some time tomorrow getting it all cleaned, portioned and ready to eat. My plan - grapes in the morning with yogourt for breakfast. Banana as morning snack. Cucumber, baby tomatoes, and broccoli with lunch. Carrots and bell peppers with supper. That will get me to 8, if I snack in the day it will be on vegetables for sure.

Getting myself up a... Sun, 7 Jul 2013 00:08:29 EST Summer is here http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5409350 Well, summer is here, and the kids are home with me full time. My respirologist told me I must lose 20 pounds by October, and so far I have lost nothing. However, after that week, I tended to let the new habit slide. My big goal for the Spring into Summer 5% Challenge is to maintain each new habit for the remainder of the 8 week Challenge. I had planned this goal for the last challenge, so what is different this time? I found a thread on the main challenge page where we can post... Sat, 25 May 2013 08:25:25 EST Pantry complete http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5353543 Shopping happened today to purchase a cartridge for my labeler. It was quite late by the time I tackled that job because I slept really late today. The 45 minutes of ball hockey with the kiddos really wore me out. Seeing all my labels in the pantry and all of the extra space really makes me smile. I returned the one broken cereal keeper today, but they had none in stock to replace it. Hopefully they will get more in soon so I can put my pancake mix in it. My task for the rest of tonight... Sat, 11 May 2013 23:02:27 EST Pantry organized http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5352545 I sorted out all of the stuff in my pantry today. After shopping at three stores I finally got the containers I needed. One of the cereal keepers broke before I even filled it up so it needs to be replaced. Also, my labeler ran out so I need a new cartridge before I can complete this project. I intend to do that tomorrow and then I will have completed all the tasks I set for myself this week! Next week I will tackle the rest of the kitchen. A lot of the cupboards have been taken care of... Fri, 10 May 2013 21:00:10 EST Clean organized fridge, pantry is next http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5351458 After spending 5 hours last week cleaning my fridge inside from top to bottom, I had no desire to work on it anymore. However, this week, after a much needed break from the fridge, I was inspired to get it organized. I arranged everything we keep in our fridge on a regular basis. Then, I labeled that sucker to death! I ran out of clear label, so I started using pink! Our company will think I have lost my mind if they look in there, but really, it gives me peace of mind knowing it looks l... Thu, 9 May 2013 22:03:25 EST Building routines http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5347092 Years ago, when my second child was an infant, I was in control. I had routines for everything and I had them down pat. My home was clean and tidy at all times. Meals were planned and healthy. More recently, I have no routines. I get up in the morning and wonder what to do first and next from there. My goal for May is to start establishing daily routines again. I will use my playbook to give myself reminders and make sure that I get organized for a more productive life. Mon, 6 May 2013 08:13:47 EST Overdid it http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5322629 Well guys, my goals have been a bust since Thursday. I decided to take a rest day because I could feel myself getting worn out. Wednesday walk left me feeling dizzy so I decided that was a sign. I didn't listen soon enough, and Friday morning found me feeling winded, dizzy and absolutely zero energy. Grocery shopping was a disaster needing to take many breaks. Saturday was an emotional breaking point for me, I just couldn't tolerate anything. 6 in the evening I decided to lay down and r... Wed, 3 Apr 2013 12:55:00 EST April goals http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5308049 My goal for April is to reach 217 pounds by my weigh in on April 27. In order to achieve this goal, I intend to track my food every single day, stay in range 7 days a week, and walk for a minimum of 20 minutes daily. My calorie range is 1730-2080 a day. I set it this high, because I tend to feel like I am deprived with a lower range than that and tend to rebound with binges. This way, my body will always feel like there is lots of food available. The focus was that it is important to inform the people around you about your goals. I started doing this yesterday, and I am getting some positive feedback. The biggest surprise for me was the response I got from a few people that they also are working on this task. It made me think that I am far from alone. So, I am going to continue sharing this with my peeps. For the first time in months, I am excited about the impend... According to Sparkpeople, my calorie range tops out at 1800 or so, but I never seem to do well in that range. Instead, my goal is going to be 2100. I haven't tracked for a very long time on a consistent basis. Starting with an achievable range will give me the success I need to bolster my confidence. I did eat breakfast when I got up today, which was at about noon! I only got in walks on 5 days this week. For next week, I will be making sure to get in a walk every single day. When I read this question, my first reaction was no, I am doing alright. Getting my exercise in, getting creative about eating my freggies. However, we can always use motivation! And, I have been getting great advice all week long whenever I read the blogs of my fellow Cloverleaves. I set the goal on Sunday, and I have achieved it every day. Today was a bit of a challenge, but I loaded up on green peas at supper and had an apple for snack to get that produce in. Without the concious effort to make this change, I would have never even thought of it. For keeping on track, I will write down all my freggie intake. To encourage myself, I will spend time scrapbooking in the evening for every day that I eat 5 or more freggies. So, I will answer the first two questions today in one blog.

1) What new habit you wish to develop?

Eating at least 5 fruits and veggies(freggies) every day.

2) How will you do that? Make sure that I have the produce in my home to make this possible, even if it is frozen veggies. Sun, 3 Mar 2013 14:42:58 EST Tuesday http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5265400 I had a busy day today. At the school all morning, but got my walk in right after that. Then, off the the bank, and back to the school for Child #1 to transport to a dentist appointment for a filling. Popped in to the library, then back to school to pick up Child #2 leaving Child #1 in the vehicle. Upon reaching home moments later, it was discovered that while sitting in the van waiting, Child #1 had chewed on the lip which was frozen for the filling installed by the dentist. Quick call ... I have been pretty tired all day, I am so inactive that this is really challenging me! I have been doing the inflight movies yesterday and today, I'm not sure I can keep that up. For right now, I am just going to stick to my walking for the rest of the week and see how that goes. Sun, 24 Feb 2013 22:51:46 EST A tweak I realized is necessary http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5156896 Yesterday I went off script for my meal plan. For one thing, I had forgotten about my monthly lunch out with a friend, and so my lunch did not go as planned. I did eat a very healthy lunch though, salmon, veggie stir fry and rice. Then, I did not look at my plan for the rest of the day until supper time, so my snacks went wayward. This morning a realization came to me while I was evaluating the reasons for my slip. The biggest change I can make to help myself eat to my plan is by preppin... Wed, 5 Dec 2012 09:22:44 EST Thoughts on preplanning http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5154104 There need to be steps taken by me in order to prepare for planning my meals a week at a time. I need to start by planning each meal. This will require time each week to fill in a chart by hand. There are so many resources I created for myself when I did the Herbal Magic program back in 2001 and reached my lowest healthy adult weight of 142 pounds. I was taking time every week to write down the individual items in each meal for the entire week. I would create snack bags with the appropri... Sun, 2 Dec 2012 22:45:19 EST Tracking food and why I let it slip this week http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5153058 I am trying to take a closer look at why I am not able to stick with my goal of tracking my food. Part of the problem is that when I eat something I find difficult to measure or determine serving size, such as shelled nuts or Christmas candy, it puts me off of tracking because it is a bother. A solution: don't eat the Christmas candy, there is nothing of value there. For the nuts, I can create a portion of each kind of nut, measure it for weight before I eat it, and that way I am not eatin... Sat, 1 Dec 2012 22:26:33 EST
