More like a full set really. So, as part of my work's biggest loser competition, I figured I could and should get a leg up by taming that damnable sweet tooth of mine.
The week 1 action steps require a bit of writing, so here goes.
According to the "short" assessment (in quotes because I had to Google something called a sugar detox which I'd never heard of) I have "Situational struggles with sugar" which makes sense to me.
Some of the reason... Wed, 29 Jan 2014 10:19:56 EST update: complacency sucks Well, I slid into maintenance mode apparently. I go up, I go down. I sorta track what I eat, but I'm not making an effort to lose anymore.
I don't understand how I fell into complacency so easily. I noticed my motivation disappearing months ago and tried again and again to get it back to no avail. I'm disappointed with myself for not hitting my goal.

Here's a picture of me brainfarting.

I'm s... Had a wonderful time, met with family, ate, played with the Baby.
Unfortunately, starting Friday night my husband didn't feel so hot. He ran a 102 degree fever most of Saturday, and had gotten it down to 98 Sunday morning (so he went with us to Easter celebration) but was still feeling funky up to Monday evening and even today.
On our way from one family's house to another, I said my hands felt funny. Tue, 2 Apr 2013 11:14:38 EST almost overweight and articles about fat acceptance Surprised by this morning's weigh in of down 1.3 lbs, I realized I was 5 lbs from being overweight.
5 lbs. That's so small! I'm a stomach flue away from overweight. no more obese.
Although I'd never really considered myself obese. No, really, I am, and pleas... Fri, 29 Mar 2013 10:49:42 EST Food I take to work (pics) I want to try to keep a visual food log for what I take to work to eat during the week. I work from 7-ish until 4-ish M-F, so I take breakfast and lunch and snacks with me. I'm a bored eater, so there's lots of little things to munch on, so I can pretty much eat all day when I'm bored, but not eat a lot of calories. All of these are tracked in the food tracker too.

Yesterday, Wednesday the 27th.

To... Thu, 28 Mar 2013 09:59:51 EST I hate you, Pollen Pollen, ugh. The bane of my springtime existence. it's not the amount of snot, it's the swelling of the sinuses that gets me. I literally cannot breathe through my nose.
But, a quick spritz of the magical nasal spray, and I'm good to go.
My mom and dad were 4-way addicts for years and years when i was growing up, so I'm very cautious to even use nasal spray. I figure once a day for a bit won't be too bad though. I didn't use it the last couple of days at all, and bam. Swollen sinus... Thu, 21 Mar 2013 17:34:47 EST I'm back, Baby! Well, I finally got caught up and current with my latest obsession "Homestuck" the webcomic. I cleared out the girl scout cookies, and valentines candy. (by cleared out, I mean ate it all) and got back on track with decent healthy type snacks. Most days.
20
yesterday was my birthday. I am now 29 years old! I was given the best gift, by accident of course, by my husband of 6 years.
He gave me clothes. But he got them in the wrong size. I currently wear 18 pants. he... Wed, 20 Mar 2013 17:06:39 EST Such a dissappointment Well, I knew I wasn't going to meet my weekly goal, but I really need to sit down and think of why.
It was the Valentines Candy.
It was the Thin Mint Cookies.
It was the mindless shoveling of snacks into my mouth after dinner while watching tv or trying to work from home.

No, those are just actions. What was the purpose of doing all that snacking? I know. It was because I felt helpless at my revamped calorie range I did last week. After spending 6 days in a row of ea... Fri, 22 Feb 2013 11:44:11 EST where have I been and where will I be Not as cool as the title implies, I haven't been online much the past few days. The weekend was full of family fun, and Monday I worked from home with the kiddo beside me on the floor.
So yesterday, as I was working from home, I discovered a webcomic called Homestuck.

And that is where I'll be until I finish the damn thing. It's very funny, and very addictive. I've heard there are 7000 plus strips of it too, so it might be a few days or a week or so before I will be as active ... Tue, 19 Feb 2013 14:13:30 EST stupid cat So yeah, since we got our 6 year old cat fixed in January, she's been overly aggressive, attacking the dog without any provocation.
Last night, as he laid in his bed, and me in mine, she decided to jump him, attacking.
I thought it'd be a great idea to just grab her. She's small. This is not my first cat rodeo.

So that damn cat bit me. Hard. Now I get to skip out of work early to go to the Dr to get a round of antibiotics, because my wrist is starting to turn pink and get... Do it, to it. Thu, 31 Jan 2013 15:05:37 EST First new pair of pants I bought a pair of size 18 pants today. First time in probably 3 years I fit them perfectly.
Torrid pants are a bit too stretchy in the waistband for me, so I'm going to have to wear a belt if I don't want my cheeks peeking out the back. ha ha ha.

Also bought a pair of shoes. Because I'm awesome and didn't own a pair of 5" cork platform peeptoe suede sandals.
Gosh, I'm bad. I told my husband about the splurge and he said "that's great!" He's such a champ. I don't get cramping or sudden onsets of diarhea, but I can go, as my doc says "from rabbit pellets to the runs" in a matter of hours. I've noticed that since I started "Operation: Healthy Lifestyle", by bowel movements have been a lot more comfortable. I only get constipated if I eat to much bread, and runny if I eat too much fat.
So last night we had burger king for the first time in ages. I had a #1 with onio... Wed, 23 Jan 2013 09:49:38 EST the lazy fruit eater I have discovered something about myself and why I tend to not eat a lot of fruit. Now, don't get me wrong, I like the taste of fruit. Oranges are great, pears too. I started by listing the ones I would buy:
grapes, blackberries, blueberries, strawberries, plums, cantaloupe, watermelon, honey dew melon, tomatoes, pears, bananas.

Then the ones I like the taste but don't buy:
oranges, pomagranates, apples, kiwis.

Then I did some hard thinking. Apple flavor is go... Tue, 22 Jan 2013 09:00:22 EST weekend sweet tooth rampage Darn it all if that silly tooth goes all out when we travel.
This weekend we drove 3 hours to visit the mother-in-law in the hospital and the trip there I had my breakfast, then a candy bar and some beef jerky at the halfway point.
On the way back I had 2 candy bars and some jerky! Argh! Then oreos after dinner.
Today seems to be continuing with a mr. good bar. Sigh.
I love chocolate, but at the same time I'm starting to hate it.
On the plus side, my mother-in-law is... Mon, 21 Jan 2013 14:08:51 EST sparkpeople body sculpting dvd Oh my God! It hurts so bad! I cannot bend that way! Ha ha It's not really that bad but I did the barre course of 20 minutes and the hamstring stretches really burn. No more tonight, thanks. My legs are now on fire. Thu, 17 Jan 2013 20:18:10 EST kicking butt Today is a fabulous day. I feel great, I look great, hell, I even sound great. HA!
You see, I've had this pair of size 18 jeans for years. I haven't worn them much over the years, they've been too tight. I was popping out them like crazy. Like the worst muffin top belly you'd seen, so I'd only wear them once every few months with a really baggy shirt. They were so tight they made my butt look great, but I could barely bend over in them.
Today I am wearing them and wearing them comfo... Thu, 17 Jan 2013 14:53:04 EST working out Today I'm going to hit the office gym with a co-worker for the first time. I went there once already by myself and it was ok. There's no one there and it's a small space, but it has all the necessary machines.
So we shall see how it is working out with someone. I'm not sure I'm going to like it or not. Niether is she lol

328 316 314 315 322 321 Thu, 10 Jan 2013 16:51:02 EST stress level rising I'm usually quite good at handling stress, but with the crazy things going on lately it's getting difficult.
My mother-in-law is in the hospital with breathlessness and failing kidneys. She starts dialysis today.
One of our kitties has a breast tumor or cyst and is going into surgery today to have it removed and get her fixed at the same time.
With the spouse spending lots of time out and about volunteering I haven't been to the gym since Friday and I'm getting frustrated abou... Wed, 9 Jan 2013 12:01:33 EST cookbook day 244
So I just realized that all 3 of my meals today were from the cookbook. First was a Pumpkin pie smoothie. Lunch was orange chicken with brown rice and Corn. And for dinner I made warm 2 Bean tuna salad. That was the first time I've done that, and everything tasted so good. I didn't have the right spices for the smoothie, and used bit too much cloves, but it was still good.
I'm in my range today. I think I'll have dessert too. Mon, 7 Jan 2013 21:27:47 EST biggest loser kick off weigh in So today was the first weigh in of my job's annual biggest loser competition. There are about 12 or so competitor, at $25, and the pot will be split between 2 winners: largest % lost, most lbs lost.
Yesterday I made lunches for the week, so I can stay in my calorie range just by eating what I brought. This week is Orange chicken with brown rice and one other vegetable. Today was corn.
I've also decided that snacks are my downfall. I will no longer be having a snack between breakfast... Mon, 7 Jan 2013 14:16:02 EST So the gym was full... I started working out at the gym December 17th. I know it hasn't been long, but I've managed to go 3 times a week for the last 2 weeks (tomorrow will finish up this week) and that makes me really proud.
Yesterday I went to my gym, and it was crazy busy. I'm guessing this is the new year's resolution crowd. The guy at the desk says give it 2 weeks "they drop like flys."
I'm really glad I didn't wait until the new year to get started on my Operation: Healthy Lifestyle.
I've been... Thu, 3 Jan 2013 12:28:46 EST finally, a change December has been rough. It started out great, then with one holiday party, then another, then a visit with friends, a couple of dinners out, family, more family, and still more family yet to come, I've had a very difficult time losing weight.
I've been over my calorie range for most of the month. Most days it's not even what I'd consider "splurging" either. Just a snack or something puts me over 1-200 calories.
I can't drink 8 cups of water. It's just so much. I pee every hour on t... Fri, 28 Dec 2012 09:05:46 EST the first meal plan I did it! I finally made a menu for the week using my SP cookbook.
Monday - breakfast - yogurt with fruity nutty granola (made that last night. Yum!)
- lunch - leftover slimmer sloppy joes from last night. The spouse like them too!
- dinner - Pecan chicken with carrot slaw and asparagus
Tuesday - breakfast - granola and something. I didn't like plain yogurt, so I have to find another flavor
- lunch- leftover pecan chicken ... Mon, 3 Dec 2012 12:08:00 EST this doesn't feel like a diet at all I guess it's a good thing to not feel like I'm dieting. I've just been monitoring what I eat, and trying to stay within a certain range. Unfortunately, the past 7 days I've gone over my range 5 days. The good thing about it, is I've been within my range for fat 5 days (under 1, over 1), carbs 5 days (over 2), and protein 6 days (under 1). I'm also tracking sodium, but I don't know why exactly. I've been over on my sodium all but 7 days in the past 27 days. It's really hard to eat prepackaged... Tue, 27 Nov 2012 10:02:23 EST spark coach blog: how I use my time Here's a typical week day:
up at 5am, shower, grooming, dressing, done at 5:25. Head to kitchen.
Make a 6 oz bottle of formula for the little one. Head upstairs at 5:30.
Wake up, change, feed, and re-dress the baby. Head downstairs at 5:50.
In kitchen, make 5 5oz bottles for baby to take to daycare. Assemble lunches for me and the spouse, feed and water pets. Gather things needed for the day into pile to put into my car.
6am: load car, baby, spouse, etc and hopefully ... Thu, 15 Nov 2012 10:00:35 EST like mother like son So today was the baby's 4 month appointment, and surprise surprise, he's got the same issues I have.

Since we started taking him to day care, we've been plagued by assorted colds/runny noses/coughs, but this last one I couldn't seem to shake the sinus infection. I never get just a runny nose, it's ALWAYS an infection. Normally I netty pot the living daylights out of it until I'm all good, but this time it was actually painful; like something had wiggled it's way into the bones of ... Mon, 12 Nov 2012 13:40:30 EST an actual Day 7 Shocked! I made it to day 7 of "operation: healthy lifestyle" and have something new to report!
Yesterday was "bagel wednesday" at work. They buy the bagels from panera bread with fabulous cream cheeses to go with it. I looked up the calories for the blueberry bagel that I would normally eat: 330. My Jimmy Dean Pancake griddler has 230. After seeing the difference, I actually thought "I don't really want to eat that." Sincerely!
That has been the biggest change I think. I'm working ... Thu, 8 Nov 2012 09:36:16 EST a bit sore, but in a good mood anyhow I'm feeling a bit sore today. It has to be the resistance band exercises. I know I haven't done a crunch in years, and boy howdy do I need to if 2 days of bands has me hurting. Pathetic. I'll never be able to toss my son in the air unless I build up some strength! And he loves being lifted!
In other news, I finally caved in and went to the Doc yesterday to get some antibiotics for my sinus infection. We've been getting colds left and right since we put the kiddo in daycare, and I usually... Tue, 6 Nov 2012 14:32:27 EST The first Monday Saturday I went WAY over the recommended calories. We went to Gringos. It was tasty. I figured, in for a penny, in for a pound, and ordered queso too. I don't regret it. Especially since now I have a sort of exercise plan. Plus, the other 4 days I've been right on track.

I'm a busy woman. Like, insanely busy during the week. My son is 3 1/2 months old, so every minute I'm not working (full time, plus an hour commute each way) I spend with him. I can really only exercise when he's ... Mon, 5 Nov 2012 09:20:29 EST an argument with myself So here we are again, attempting to get fit and healthy. "This time will be the one", I say. "I will not quit", I say. I don't have much faith in myself on this round. I know how to lose weight. I know how to exercise to gain lean muscle and lose inches. Unfortunately, I just don't know if I can do it. It's a lifestyle change. I know this. I have to change my eating habits. I have to change how I live my daily life.
Changing habits is so hard to do though. I quit smoking a few years ago....
