Fri, 21 Nov 2008 21:00:08 EST Back to Reality http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1365341 I'm back on the Spark trail now. Had to take a bit of a rest after vacation before I settled into the Spark routine. I'm ready though and willing. I've got to track my food and get my exercise so here I go. Met my Spark friend, Sylvia, while in Spokane on our last day of vacation. So fun to meet Sparkies in person. We had a nice lunch together and then she took me on a nice walk in her local park. Had the Spokane River running right next to our walking trail. Fun. So I'll be on weekl... Mon, 28 Jul 2008 19:28:38 EST Back from Vacation - yikes http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1359713 Well, back from Canada. I think that God started the world in the Canadian Rockies and then got a bit tired. I've never seen anything like the beauty of those mountains. We took over 300 pictures (thank goodness for digital!!!). Ate, drank and was merry, and now back to pay the price. It was my best vacation in my life and something I'll never forget. Now back to reality and a concerted effort to get to goal. I'm going 100% on Monday (need a few days to ease in) and then this will be d... Sat, 28 Jun 2008 15:15:27 EST Rainy Monday http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1260355 Busy day at work. Got my 10,000+ steps before I got home. I thought I had a "desk job". Went to the mtns. yesterday and sat and listened to the creek while John did some gold panning. So good for the soul to get to the mountains. Doing OK. Spark Walk Saturday then to the Farmer's Market I think. Life just moving along fine. Mon, 9 Jun 2008 22:19:31 EST Wednesday http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1250167 I'm going to blog once a week from now on. I've been a little off the path and getting back on. Nothing drastic. I think I got a little burned out. Been doing my 10,000 steps a day this week. Had a nice weekend hike. I think I get to doing too much team, tracking, etc. stuff. I will still be checking on my friends, get back to tracking food. I've just got to slow down some on this. So I'm going to check on folks right now. Adios. Wed, 4 Jun 2008 20:35:20 EST Graduation http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1237266 My "baby" 6'1" graduated last night. I was surprised when the music started and the kids came out -- over 600 of them -- and I cried. I just didn't expect it to be that emotional, but I guess it is a big milestone. A big sigh of relief and that part is done. I'm sure there will be lots more to come until he's an independent human "bean." He's a good guy though so we're very proud of him.

We're going out for graduation dinner tonight. I'm just focusing on June coming and my go... Thu, 29 May 2008 19:44:33 EST Beastly Weekend http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1230886 Little miss perfecto just totally fell off her horse this weekend. I just ate and ate what I wanted. In a way I can see that I'm a bit improved from my former self in that I did go to the grocery store last night with the full intent to get just what I wanted -- and instead of grabbing just any food, or horrid food, I actually went up and down the frozen aisles several times. Some pig out items were just not possible, I'd think about the calories or fat. I actually ended up pigging out on... Mon, 26 May 2008 23:01:51 EST Saturday http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1227009 Good morning. It is not raining, but should soon. I'm doing this short since my blogs don't seem to be saving and I'll test this. All is fine.

Good, that did save. Had a nice dinner with Cathy last night. I had a crab tostado for the first time and it was light, tasty and very good.

Plan for 3 day weekend is to clean house and I've got lots to do. Probably good that the weather is not so nice and won't be. Did buy some plants yesterday and two tomato plants. They... Sat, 24 May 2008 12:08:51 EST Home Sweet Home http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1215761 Got home tonight late. Had to sit in plane leaving NC while it rained and there was a big thunder storm. One topic at conference was obesity -- and after her talk, I told the lady all about Sparkpeople.com and asked her to please be sure and look it up since it would be a great resource of people. Learned a lot about Von Willebrands disease which is under diagnosed in women -- and usually diagnosed after 16 years. Walked 5 miles on Saturday which was our biggest sitting/eating conference ... Mon, 19 May 2008 02:31:33 EST Blog from NC http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1208347 My hotel had a computer that I could use, so where did I head first, Spark People, of course. I had a rough eating day but I did track my food, so at least that is positive. See if I can do a little better tomorrow. I'm headed for bed. I was up at 4:00 a.m. this morning and It is 11:00 p.m. Boise time. I'm tired. I want to get up really early and put my pedometer on. I'm going to walk the entire Raleigh downtown, so I will probably get over 13,000 steps. Guess we'll see. I bought a ... You guys are the best. I'm headed to NC in the morning. My plane leaves at 6:40 a.m. which is when I was thinking I had to be to the airport and just read the plane boards at 6:10!!!! I didn't have the heart to get on the scale and might not for a week. Today my friend took me for BD lunch, had 1/2 Philly and some onion rings, now all that is over!!!!! Back on track and yogurt for dinner. I'm not over today, just not healthy, but if you can't eat onion rings once every 6 months..........well. Did somehow manage to walk 11,863 today. Ate fine (after yesterday I was probably still full). Need to go for my neighborhood walk as I'm at 8,588 steps and need my 10,000/day.

I'm thinking May is going to be so challenging, lots going on and I don't seem to be in my usual tough mindset. I sort of want to let May happen. But I'll think about this on my walk right now. Tue, 6 May 2008 20:08:15 EST Cinco de Mayo http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1189667 Let's just say I celebrated Cinco de Mayo in grand style (minus a margarita). I did get my steps in 10,822 + later tonight. Beautiful weather here. Sore muscles from yard work yesterday. Sure don't use all muscles walking, that's for sure. Mon, 5 May 2008 20:55:32 EST Gardening Sunday http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1186858 Outside for about 3 1/2 hours -- now I wonder if I will be able to walk tomorrow. I did hard manual labor, this wasn't planting daisys, but physical work. I've only walked 2,407 so far today which is way low, but I know I did some upper body working out. Making progress. I planned this front of house project and estimated like 2 days for this. I am too funny when it comes to estimating. I've worked 2 days on it - tiny help from 18 yr. old and some help from dh. We have not passed step ... Sun, 4 May 2008 20:09:58 EST Weird Saturday http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1184936 One of those days that -- if it could go wrong, it did. I tell you I haven't had one of these weird days in so long -- guess I was due. Supposed to be up at 6:00 to let 3 staff in to work at 7:00 a.m. Husband asks me at 7:15, if I should be up!!! I grabbed my little jacket and in my pjs and flip flops, gunned my way down the freeway (this is w/o coffee) and got there to let gals in. Rushed home, showered and put on clothes. Worked until 9:10 and had to leave to go for Boise Spark walk o... Sat, 3 May 2008 22:46:08 EST B BOY HIP/HOP FRIDAY NIGHT http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1183459 Cathy and I went to a HIP HOP dance off that was real loud and real fun. Those young people amazed me. I think of all the orthopedic doctors licking their lips just waiting for about 10 years to see these kids. They spin on their heads, hands, elbows, hold their entire body weight on one hand with their bodies in the air and spin. It was just something to see in person. These kids are really in shape. I may have to start a hip/hop team here and see what we can do (this is totally a joke... Sat, 3 May 2008 00:53:40 EST Spark Rocks http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1180890 Some day, I'm not sure I'm up to Sparking, but when I get in, there is usually some super message from a friend to lift my spirits and encourage me. Who could ask for more than the friends and cheering squads we have on this site. We all have the ability to join any crazy type of team (or serious team), make a friend anywhere in the U.S. and probably about every country. I think that is pretty darn powerful.

Today was a business lunch and I had a Club Sandwich (ate 3/4ths of it)... Thu, 1 May 2008 19:30:39 EST Will Spring Come to Boise http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1178796 Had little icy things on my car windshield this a.m. on way to work -- what? Where is the sun and real Spring? Forgot my pedometer today on bathroom sink. I'm getting so used to having it, checking it, seeing where I am. Tomorrow I start my 10,000 steps a day seriously through the month. Salad for lunch. Had fat free raspberry vinegarette (sp) that was so good, really sweet. Had Subway turkey 12" w/cheese (a big splurge) for dinner. I did sign up w/my team for the Komen Race for the C... Wed, 30 Apr 2008 22:13:14 EST Is it Friday yet http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1176405 Busy, hectic day. Walked 10,034 steps today, ate fine. Nothing earth shattering to report. I'm thinking this last 9 lbs. is going to take 6 months. I will keep the faith though and I just want to get this done.

68 Tue, 29 Apr 2008 21:52:29 EST Walking and walking http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1173610 All breaks, lunch walked. I've made up my mind this thing is going to be done in May. I have 10,724 steps today and it is only 5:30 p.m. Ate well. Going to make chicken satay (Indonesian), rice and spaghetti squash for dinner. Actually hot in Boise today. Where did my gentle warm spring go. I don't want it hot so fast, darn. All is well. Mon, 28 Apr 2008 19:48:34 EST Sitting Sunday http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1170508 I've got to held down a booth at the fairgrounds for 4 hours, so I've got to sit (I'm not standing on those hard cement floors for this time period). So once I get home around 6:00 p.m. I've got to get out there and walk, walk. I did my board meeting yesterday -- sitting for over 3 hours. Then put on the dinner and thought I did quite a bit of walking (did lots of dishes), but come to find out my whole day was right around 2 miles. Sure seemed like I did more. Maybe moving some tables an... Sun, 27 Apr 2008 13:03:29 EST Saturday, lovely Saturday http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1169211 Up early, Spark, then off to 9:30 Board meeting -- lasted 3 hrs. yikes. Hungry as heck when I got home so had my usual bagel, cottage cheese and yogurt. Have to be at place dinner will be held to help prepare at 4:30, so not enough time to get into any real projects -- so I won't. Dinner served at 6:30 (lasagne) so I have to watch what I eat -- at least I will have cals left. Then dh and ds will help with clean up. Will probably be home by 9:00. Pretty day here, I'd prefer to be outsid... Sat, 26 Apr 2008 16:21:49 EST Did I hear "Gosh, you are looking skinny"? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1167848 Today was jean day at work. I wore my jeans that fit -- as opposed to my baggy pre-weight loss pants. I had at least 4 people comment on how great I looked, that I looked thin. Seems so weird to me. I look in the mirror or glass window and just think it is "skinny glass" and not a true reflection of me. I asked my first friend in the a.m. who said I was looking slim, if I really looked pretty slim now and if someone looked at me they wouldn't think I was fat. Just can't get this in my b... Fri, 25 Apr 2008 19:49:41 EST Almost Friday (that means Thursday) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1165969 Had dinner at Chilis. I like their Guiltless dinners and had their grilled chicken sandwich that is good and nice and low cal. Sure is hard to eat there with dh and ds -- as they had the "bloomin onion" that smelled so good (didn't take one bite) and then huge, huge burgers. Those didn't really tempt me (that's weird). They both brought 1/2 of their burgers home. What a ridiculous amount of food.

I weighed this a.m. and was the same as last week. Just to double check I weighe... Thu, 24 Apr 2008 22:38:32 EST How'd it get to be Wednesday http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1163520 I haven't blogged since Sunday -- where has the time gone? This week is sure flying by quickly. I've just read some great blogs by some members of teams I'm on. So much goes on with folks and it is so great how they are either running Robie Creek, or one lady is trying to understand herself in deeper ways. Such super people on Spark. You can learn so much, and get so much help from reading blogs. Most of us suffer similar problems, issues, heights & happiness. Pretty basic stuff, but e... Wed, 23 Apr 2008 21:42:26 EST Sunday http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1156514 Cooked brunch and used a lot of my calories. Eating so much, so early left me w/not a lot of cals for day. I just was hungry and usually I'm not. I overate by about 500 cals. Haven't done that for a long time, so just back on the wagon. What I learned. Don't eat quite so much so early on a weekend so I have cals left for dinner & a snack. Mon, 21 Apr 2008 09:25:14 EST Finally Friday http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1152602 Worked, came home and walked to my friend's house -- about 1 1/2 mile (and downhill, yeah). We had coffee, sat on her patio in her new porch swing, relaxed and visited. Went to dinner at Red Robin and had chicken sandwiches (yum). Came home and watched Juno -- which was interesting and it brought back lots of memories since I adopted my son.

Now home, ready for small snack and settling in. I'm going to sleep in tomorrow, do a little housework, mess around. Will be yucky outsid... Sat, 19 Apr 2008 01:51:53 EST Taco Bell Thursday http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1150425 Family dinner out night. We picked out of our folder notes restaurants we've each chosen, and plucked out Taco Bell. My dh and son head right for the line. I went over and got their nutrition guide and sat down and studied it. I would of done it before, but wasn't sure what we'd pick. So I looked through all items and made my selection. Funny that I had two items (and was satisfied) while dh and son had a total of 10 items between them. Amazing..........not to mention how expensive the... Thu, 17 Apr 2008 23:50:31 EST Mid-Week Wednesday http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1147922 Fast day at work. Ate fine. Cathy rode her bike -- uphill -- to my house and we visited some. I said I'd walk "down" to her house Friday after work and then we could go out for dinner. She can drive me home (LOL).

Busy weekends coming up in next few months. Company Sunday so guess that means clean house Saturday (a little bit).

Nothing exciting to share. It was difficult getting up. Ate fine. Hungry on the way home and started thinking about what to cook for dinner. Decided on Philly Sandwiches, which of course required a trip to the store. It is hard to shop when hungry, but I did fine. Also found my Skinny Cow cones I like and got two boxes. Sometimes those are hard to find. Make sandwiches and they were good.

I'm going to make Chinese Chicken salad this week, with a... Tue, 15 Apr 2008 21:01:18 EST Quick Monday http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1142539 This day just went so fast at work -- seemed like about 3 hrs. When you're so busy the time just disappears.

Did get to work in the front outside yesterday. It was grand. I wonder why I always have projects in my mind and think that I can get them done in one or two days. What starts out simply, seems to multiply and get so much more complicated. Now my 2 days project looks like it will take about 6 days to complete. Oh well, no matter what I will get this done. I'm a usual... Mon, 14 Apr 2008 19:19:16 EST Greenbelt Walk - great http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1138039 Had a wonderful morning. Cathy and I (she on her bike) and IDLISA (Lisa) who came for the first time all visited and had a wonderful, perfect day walk/bike ride. So nice to meet Lisa who is a wonderful, friendly, great gal.

Cath & I then had lunch and I proceeded to work for 3 1/2 hours on a day like this (what a shame). Anyway, today I've walked (so far) 12,304 steps -- and I think this is my record, or certainly will be by the time this day ends.

Can't wait to get i... No whining.

Tomorrow is Boise Greenbelt Spark Walk at 9:30 - 11:00 a.m. Hoping that a few Boise Sparks do show up so we can meet. My friend, Cathy, is going to ride her bike due to recent foot surgery. Should be an absolutely glorious weather day. Wow, haven't been here for 40 yrs. YaHooooooooooooo.

Did more steps yesterday. Haven't been hungry -- which is really weird for me. Sun is coming out. Our weekend here will be around 70 (or so they say). We can't always trust our weatherman.

Got my Greenbelt walk Saturday and hope to meet several Spark friends. Should be a nice morning. Wed, 9 Apr 2008 01:17:45 EST I Can Make You Thin Through the TV http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1127081 We watched the "I Can Make You Thin Through the TV" show last night. I love where he says, 1) eat what you want. Don't I wish. 2) Stop when you're full; 3) Eat Mindfully (some of these sound like Beck Diet Solution.) It was interesting about exercise last night on the show though that heavier people average around 4,000 steps a day, whereas thin people average around 6,000 -- only 2,000 more steps a day. This made me make more of an effort today and I was sure to have my pedometer. I fi... Mon, 7 Apr 2008 21:24:43 EST Sunday http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1123822 Dusted and organized my CDs. I pulled out our bookcase yesterday and put up new curtains. Going through stuff. I've got too much stuff and I have to get rid of 1/2 of the stuff we own. I do not want to accumulate any more things. There is nothing I need or want and that is a good feeling. Just wish I hadn't been such a pack rat and have to suffer going through it all. Some things are easy, so are not. Guess that's the true sign of a pack rat.

Was going to try to work outsid... Sun, 6 Apr 2008 16:11:24 EST Non-Working Saturday http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1121407 Yeah, no work today. I'm pooped out so that is good. Fell asleep around 6:00 p.m. and up today at 7:30. I guess I could have forced myself to work today, but it sure would have been hard. Two months of working 7 days a week, with the exception of Easter, and now I'm done with that. Yeah.

I've been too tired to even blog which is unusual. Nothing exciting going on here. I'm going to see how weather is a little later. It is supposed to be in the 50's, but they also said it is... Sat, 5 Apr 2008 09:59:27 EST How Long Can Meetings Last http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1113489 9:00 p.m. and just walked in the house. Worked 8 hours, left work at 4:30 and to a meeting at 5:00 - 8:30 -- that is a 3 1/2 hour meeting. Oh man, was I getting crazed toward the end. My definition of a meeting is max one hour. I hope we accomplished a lot because it was murder sitting there for that long, and I'm a definite type B personality (can't imagine how As felt).

We had planned to have Subway turkey sandwiches for the meeting. I always have to remember to move my nutrition tracker back a day if I'm entering late. Day went fast. I worked 6 hours, home and had tostados (love those things, no meat, veggies and they fill me up and make me happy).

Last night was sort of hard and I was thinking about waiting until midnight -- a new "day" and then eating something. I had about 3 hours of torture, finally fell asleep and didn't eat. I just ate lunch o... Mon, 31 Mar 2008 01:19:01 EST (no title) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1105549 Up at 7:30, coffee, goofed around on Spark and then to work around 10:00 to 3:15. My husband had my studded tires taken off my car so now it better be spring. After work, I met dh for lunch/dinner at Red Robin and had my great chicken sandwich that I love and a few fries (that I will count). Then we walked around the lake by the restaurant on a path. I was pretty chilly out there so it probably kept my pace moving right along. Not a long walk, just a nice walk. He headed home and I went... Sat, 29 Mar 2008 21:28:17 EST Windy Friday http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1103860 Cold & windy today. Had to force myself to walk on my breaks, but got 3.51 miles by 7:30 p.m. this evening. Nice to be able to put forth the effort.

Going to work tomorrow (Sat.) for what I hope will be about 4 hours. I wasn't going in for anything, but that work has piled up again and I've got a new person coming in that I need to train and spend time with so the pile won't go down next week. That will be two people to be training and doing quality assurance on. But, the re... Fri, 28 Mar 2008 22:21:59 EST I'm in Training http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1101374 First, we mustn't forget that tomorrow is Friday. I've made up my mind, several times, that no matter what I'm not working on the weekend. I want to work in my front bed of my house. Pull out everything, lay down weed screen, get rocks, fill it all in and then plant some flowers. Clean off the porch, and neaten the front area.

We are having the Komen Breast Cancer Walk/Run here in Boise on May 10th, the day before my BD (which is on Mother's Day this year. My work friend and I... Thu, 27 Mar 2008 19:46:28 EST Middle of the Week http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1099219
Getting closer to the weekend. Yeah, and I don't care what happens, what piles up, I'm not working a minute, hour or day this weekend. We had a freak hail/sleet/snow storm for about 1/2 hour that all melted, but it sure came down hard and blowing today. This weather is crazy when I think I ate lunch on my bench outside yesterday.

Had a whole wheat veggie wrap (1/2 of it) today for lunch. It was good. Before Spark I turned my nose up at whole wheat, now I'm trying to inc... Wed, 26 Mar 2008 21:20:30 EST Decent Tuesday http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1096729 Moderate day at work, which is a blessing. Maybe things are getting under control??? Possible. Rain in a.m., some sun and actually ate lunch outside. My exciting Yoplait yogurt and 14 Wheat Thins (maybe the name evokes "thin"). People hear me in my office counting out Wheat Thins and it sounds like I'm playing with poker chips. I always cracker up because I know they are wondering what in the heck I'm doing.

Was 143.0 this a.m., so I'm sure that means my last week's 142 that ... Tue, 25 Mar 2008 20:24:02 EST Left Overs http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1094253 Had left over ham. I did send ham home w/everyone, so our left overs are gone tonight. I had a slice of ham and I looked at it closely. It looked pretty big so I decided to weigh it. That slice was 7 oz, which is pretty big. I looked at it again and said, do I really need that much. So I cut off a part of the end and came up with 5 ozs., which is much more reasonable for a portion.

I did get through -- both before, during and after -- w/o eating any candy at all (chocolate or...
