Going to work on getting more natural fiber (not supplements) into my diet.

ience/food-fiber-microbiome-inflammati
on.html Fri, 9 Feb 2018 10:52:20 EST Message from Apt. complex this morning Needless to say, I didn't make it to work.

Dear Golf Creek residents,

Due to icy conditions and crashes, ODOT has temporarily closed Barnes Rd. Additionally, an overturned vehicle on the bridge near the Golf Creek office is preventing vehicles from entering and exiting, and Washington County has now closed 82nd Place. We are attempting remove vehicles blocking drive lanes on our property, unfortunately due to the conditions on Barnes, tow companies have been delayed. ... Fri, 3 Feb 2017 16:26:32 EST BLC 25 Goals 1. Loose 6lbs
2. Increase fitness minutes
3. Loose more fat and add more muscle
4. Get old house taken care of
5. Do at least 1 race a month Tue, 6 May 2014 01:57:10 EST Breaking a bad habit One of the challenges for BLC this weekend is to work on breaking a bad habit. Sadly I'm a smoker, I won't even count the times I've tried to quit. A month ago I moved out of my large house into a 1 bedroom apartment with a nice deck. I decided I would only smoke outside, then we had a huge snow storm for Portland and it was really cold. Pretty soon I was smoking inside again. So that's the bad habit I will be working on this weekend, with long tern thoughts of trying to quit again. Fri, 21 Feb 2014 21:56:19 EST My new home I spent my first night here a week ago today. What a crazy week it's been! Today I went back to the old house and packed up a bunch of more needed stuff. Downsizing is hard.

I had a lazy morning just enjoying the place. I had my first bird sighting at the suet block yesterday and today there were 2 hummers at the feeder.

I'm a happy camper! Sat, 25 Jan 2014 21:41:06 EST BLC Challenge One of the BLC weekend challenges was to plan your meals for the week and blog about it. I'm not a huge meal planner as I tend to eat what sounds good at the moment.

I eat breakfast when I get to work that is usually yogurt, TJ's high fiber cereal and fruit. Today I bought bananas and pineapple. Still have a few apples left in the fridge also. (sometimes that's desert with some cheese)

I made a big pot of spaghetti sauce yesterday that was also lunch today. There's ... Mon, 28 Oct 2013 20:18:28 EST OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm supposed to blog about my meal planing for the week for BLC, and I will do that. But, and I mean BUT, WTH, Whose dog is this? I woke up after a nap this afternoon to a dead shrew at my feet. Can I just say OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sun, 27 Oct 2013 19:34:16 EST Just had to share How do your snacks rate? I like fig newtons, good thing I don't eat them often.

imate-snack-scorecard?cm_mmc=ETNTNL-_-
1446576-_-09292013-_-SnackScorecard-link
Tue, 1 Oct 2013 20:05:07 EST I have a dream All peoples will have clean drinking water and food in their bellies. Wed, 28 Aug 2013 22:33:31 EST Has it really been that long? Well, I'm not back on track. Really struggling with the fitness thing. Unusual for me I didn't eat much during the day. Came home hungry, sauteed some spinach and poached salmon. Great dinner but I felt like something was missing, needing a treat. I have cookies and sorbet but neither hit the spot. Can you believe, I sauteed some more spinach and ate it all. So much for the oreos in the cabinet. Fri, 28 Jun 2013 23:54:46 EST Getting back on track! I struggled through BLC 20 but worked hard at participating. But the last 2 weeks I just couldn't seem to push my self. With the loss of my DH this summer I wasn't look ing forward to the holidays. I finally gave my self a break and just took a vacation from Christmas. Great decision.

I didn't eat all that bad through December although I did blow caution to the wind on New Year's eve. I quit tracking around 2400 calories. I was able to maintain my ending BLC weight. What I d... Sun, 6 Jan 2013 18:34:33 EST Weekend challenge take 3 So I had this coupon for a buy 1 get 1 free for a Whopper that expired yesterday. And what did I do, I used it. 1st time in maybe a year that I've had a Whopper. Was the coupon worth it, yes! It reminded me that I'm just as happy with a buck double for half the calories.

So I barely stayed in range with sodium, thank you very much BK. I had veggies and popcorn (100 cal bag) so I got my fiber in.

What I learned: I said I was going to get some exercise in, but I didn... Mon, 5 Nov 2012 21:05:34 EST Weekend challenge take 2 I was really struggling yesterday and just didn't want to do anything!

My eating wasn't great. Nothing really bad, just not enough fruits and veggies or fiber. I had a grilled tuna and cheese on some healthy bread for lunch. I crawled in bed and watched some TV after that. Fell asleep and never did have dinner. Stayed in range with sodium. No exercise.

I'm making some changes today. Sun, 4 Nov 2012 18:43:36 EST BLC 20 weekend challenge I walked 40min today,

I've had a hard time lately with exercise.

I so enjoyed taking the bus to/from work. I got off at one end of town and walked to the other end. Then back again

Our city bus system changed a lot of ticket/pricing . I finally decided to drive as it's more $$$$friendly

I'm not sure where I was going with this other than I really need to make some changes with my exercize Fri, 2 Nov 2012 23:14:43 EST BLC 20 Tune-up TUNE-UP - BLOG it or COLLAGE it!
You must PLAN to be SUCCESSFUL! I have a lot on my mind so I will do better over the weekend but for now, this was the little pleasure I found last weekend:

There were a lot of coffee mugs in one of the kitchen cabinets, some special, others not so much. A few weeks ago I got rid of most of them. I have a 16oz coffee maker and it usually goes right into my travel mug so I can head ou... Fri, 28 Sep 2012 22:02:13 EST BLC 20 Back to School Challenge
I had a great 4 mile walk with Portland Spark friends yesterday and thanx to Robin (Kashmir) I am able to post BLC20 start pics and earn my points.

With the death of my husband in July, life as I knew it has really changed. Some changes have been good, others not so much. The worst being that I'm driving to work now and not getting my walks to and from the bus, min of 30 min daily. I am trying to learn some... Sun, 16 Sep 2012 13:57:14 EST My Spark friends made me do it Two of my Spark friends, Runningwild and Cbailey blogged about their planning of meals for the week ahead. First off, it really made me hungry as there was some really good (healthy) stuff there. Second, it made me realize if I spent just a few hours today, I'd have meals for the whole week and would not have to think each day what I was going to take for lunch. BTW, lunch is my big meal of the day.

So several hours this afternoon I watched the recordings I had of the Olympics a... Sun, 12 Aug 2012 21:51:59 EST Life struggles I had the last three days off from work for berevement leave and finally went back to work today. The 3 days were rough and overwhelming. Today seemed so normal and I even had my pizza Friday. Funny how work can be enjoyable. But then, I must give credit to the company and people I work with.

And my Spark friends, you all have been my rock! Sat, 30 Jun 2012 22:14:41 EST BLC Ranger question of the day I posted this on my team page and then decided it really was a blog:

Why did YOU sign up for the BL:C? Are you on track? Do you think you've given it everything you have and are pushing yourself to better YOU?

I've been thinking about this all day. It kinda goes hand in hand with the email that was sent out this morning.

I've thought of the things I'd like to say, the things I should say and the stuff I shouldn't. I've been with the Rangers for a few rounds n... Mon, 18 Jun 2012 21:33:51 EST Blog, today's team goal And I'm just too bushed to say anything. Last day of Bingo challenge for BLC 19 and I have to go do 50 sit-ups. It was a lovely day here in Portland so I got an extra lunch time walk in. Looks like rain tomorrow.

DH will be through with skilled nursing by the end of the week so he will be moving to an adult foster care home. He has lost so much weight and has a hard time in the walker.

I am enjoying a bit of a normal routine while I can. Mon, 11 Jun 2012 21:36:38 EST How to cope with a dying partner Not very well on my part. Thursday talked to DH about what he wanted with his afterlife. I came home and totally lost it. How do you ask a loved one what they want done with their body. I told him we would only talk about it one time.

It was so hard going to the nursing home today. How do I justify wanting my own life back and wanting him to have the best life he can at this time.

If someone has a good answer, I'd really like to hear it. Sat, 26 May 2012 20:39:01 EST Processing life and death I'm not much into my birthday other than it's on a great day, Cinco de Mayo. And I always say Portland throws me a birthday party. Funny thing is I never show up.

Let's start with the crappy weeks I've had lately. I had to call 911 on 5/4 and have DH taken to the ER. We spent most of the day there and he was finally admitted to the hospital. The next day I told him the best birthday present I got was him not croaking on me. He laughed and that was good.

On Friday 5... Fri, 18 May 2012 21:49:12 EST BLC19 12 week plan for success I want to leave the 18s behind and get to solid 17s in my weight. Although I'm up from last week, it's only a few lbs to go so no reason why I can't get there.

To do that I plan on getting more cardio in (I've been a bit down lately)
I plan to get my fiber intake back up (it's also been low lately)
My fruit intake has also been down. With May in front of me I'm looking forward to fresh strawberries and cherries

NSV: I really want to see a dent in the piles o... Mon, 30 Apr 2012 20:57:11 EST Spark Friends Thank you Candy, I needed a reason to get up and do something. Looking forward to the walk tomorrow to restart my Spark! Sat, 28 Apr 2012 21:41:55 EST I'm Done I've been sick since Wednesday but didn't want to loose any more time off work so I fought through it. I've been working on data reports the last few days and today I knew my brain just wasn't working so I left work early (by about 2 hours). Went straight to bed and slept for another 2 hours and here I am. Soon to go back to bed. I'm looking forward to the sunny warm weather this weekend, plan on sitting on the front deck to soak up that vitamin D and kicking this bug far into the sky! <B... Fri, 20 Apr 2012 20:44:40 EST Vacation Day? I had to take one yesterday to finish our taxes, yuck! DH has been dealing with them for many years, but as he is getting forgetfull this last year's records kinda went missing. This has really been hanging over my head and causing me stress so I took yesterday off to get it done. I DID IT! And I feel so much better now.

On a side note, I also got the big quarterly report for work done this morning. WooHoo! I might sleep well tonight. Tue, 17 Apr 2012 20:39:54 EST So behind Short and sweet. I'm so behind on reading mySpark friends blogs and am trying to catch up, so don't think I've forgot about you. I'll get there yet. Sat, 3 Mar 2012 22:43:14 EST What an odd day! Have you ever awakened and nothing seems quite right? Not the kind of "I woke up on the wrong side of the bed" thing. Just the nothing feels right kind of day. Just getting out of bed has a weird feel, brushing your teeth isn't quite right. You get in the shower and you don't know where the shampo0 or face cleanser is. You got out of the shower and you can't seem to find the towel to dry you off. or the deodernt to spread on the ???? ( what did they do in 1692?)

I had this od... Wed, 15 Feb 2012 21:44:47 EST Nice to have a break in my life I just spent an even and morning at the beach with my sister. We're both at 60, a bit less for her, a bit more for me. We chatted all last night about our bodies and our health. We both have lost quit a bit of weight, her more than me. But the biggest thing we discovered is that we want to be able to move and, enjoy life in our later years. Lasst night we had a wonderful 50 min walk on the prominade at Seaside. We got up this morning and did another 50 min on the beach in the wind and r... Sat, 14 Jan 2012 21:30:05 EST 2012 Goals I just figured out my 2nd goal; find, join and participate in a gym. No excusses!

My first is to seriously declutter this year (thought of that one last week) but didn't put it down.

Finding goals for me is a serious business. There are a lot of things I would like to accomplish but I need to be realistic and find those that I really will attempt. I know that I won't walk/run every day (I like my weekends), I know I won't quit drinking, I like my wine. But I've alrea... Sat, 7 Jan 2012 23:33:48 EST BLC NOW Challenge, day 3 What ever happened to day 2?

O: Overturn a bad habit: I thought about this when I woke up yesterday. Another bad habit is not eating well on the weekends. Seems like this is a problem for many of us, but mine is not eating enough. I get out of my weekday habits and get side tracked with other stuff. So that was a goal I set yesterday to try and conquer this weekend.

So yesterday I did it. Only 2 fruits and 2 veggies and had to eat 2 biscotti in the evening to get th... Sun, 29 May 2011 21:34:42 EST BLC Now challenge day 1 O: Overturn a bad habit:

Be it nutrition, physical, mental (ie beating yourself up) then JOURNAL or BLOG about it - Post a blog entry or write in a personal journal about your Mid-challenge Thoughts. What bad habits do you have that are keeping you from your goals? What can you do to break these bad habits? Are you WHERE you wanted to be? What are your goals to Finish STRONG? I fell and injured my back and cracked a rib. Then I fell again and did a number on my knee. These were both home accidents. What is this, at 61 I get to look forward to falling all the time?

So I missed the Shamrock Run which I registered for, I missed the Run For the Roses which I didn't and I missed registering for the Bridges to Brews (unless I want to spend $100 for a few open spaces, not).

My goal of a race a month hasn't happened si... Thu, 7 Apr 2011 20:21:28 EST Thank you BLC Rangers I can't remember the last time I pushed my self to exercise on the weekend. I needed this team motivation and I got it. Didn't go all out, but I did something. Saturday 20 min on the bike and some strength. Today, 25 min on the bike and more strength. My sinus' have been racing with my nose today, wish I had that much energy. Needless to say, I need to hit the bed early. Didn't get the chores that I wanted to do done, but then, I really didn't want to get on the bike and I did. Sun, 9 Jan 2011 21:07:08 EST Here's to racers runners or walkers. I lost my clutch with all of my credit cards and ID along with some gift cards and cash. The only place I had it out was the first run (portland OR). I didn't realize it was missing until Sunday afternoon when I was going to do some grocery shopping.

I scoured the house, all of my bags and the car. Couldn't find it anywhere and couldn't think where it could have been left. Finally I realized the only place I had been with it was the First Race. When I got ... Tue, 4 Jan 2011 21:20:30 EST All's well that starts well or is that ends well. Either way, I did the First Run at midnight so I'm counting that as both, end 2010 and start 2011 with a bang. Now if I can only keep the momentum going. I gained 4lbs since the last time I weighed in weeks ago so I'm going to own it and reset my weight tracker. I'm also going to write down my goals for 2011 tomorrow.
408 Here's to a successful 2011 to all of my Spark friends! Sat, 1 Jan 2011 21:16:30 EST First time This is a first for me. I have never bloged before, But I just had an ah ha moment and decided the time was right.

I was reading a blog I subscribe to. The writer , who is training for a marathon, was talking about how she ran 6 miles in 53:06 (fast for her). It made me stop and think about what I do. I am a walker, not a runner. When I'm in my stride I do a 15 min mile. One race I did about a 14.5 mile and I was thrilled.

My goal for 2010 was to run a 5K but I ... Sun, 12 Dec 2010 00:29:39 EST
