Wed, 9 Oct 2013 06:50:40 EST seize - the day - moment - life!! Life is short - enjoy every moment. Go for it - whatever 'it' is.

My best and dearest friend has been battling cancer for a couple of years - really not sure how long as it took them at least four years to diagnose. After radiation and surgery the cancer is back with a vengence. The doctors have given her 6 months to a year - she is 57 years old has three beautiful daughters and two grand babies. Needless to say we are all devastated with this news. And she lives in BC while I... Sun, 22 Sep 2013 06:42:33 EST cherish life - every day! I recently had a bit of a health scare - I went thru some tests looking for - yes cancer - but the big reveal said NO CANCER found......thank God!

I had decided before getting the results that I would do whatever was necessary to deal with 'it' - I was quite prepared to get it done - whatever it needed to be .

And now I think that God gave me this little scare for good reason. I am discovering others - more than I knew before - who are dealing with cancer.

It... Wed, 7 Aug 2013 05:24:54 EST there are other victories to celebrate! I have learned through this journey of improved health and weight loss that there are many other things to celebrate - there are victories in all walks of life.

I am heading to Kingston Ontario today with my daughter to help my son celebrate one full year of total sobriety. He has invited his father, grandmother, aunt, sister and me to celebrate with him.

He is so proud of himself and so he should be - it has been a long hard walk thru life for him - and he has found j... Sat, 8 Jun 2013 07:34:30 EST what is in store for tomorrow? Have you ever had a moment when you wanted to just start life all over again but of course were too afraid to? I have done this a couple of times in my life.....several actually and a good number by my own volition....

A good friend calls me Towanda - that's the brave character in Fried Green Tomatoes who pretty much does whatever she feels like doing - regardless of whether it is legal or socially acceptable or not - she does what she feels is my friend that is me. <... Tue, 4 Jun 2013 21:09:25 EST walk with a purpose I find it difficult to exercise without a purpose - for the good of my health is not quite enough. Logically it should be but it is not. I am much better and much more likely to do something if it has a goal or destination.

So for that reason walkathons are good - either for a funraiser or for some sort of competition.

But also walking to get to a destination.

So this morning I walked to and from my weight watchers meeting - 2.82 kilometers each way - took m... Just got back from Cuba. Fantastic time with my two older sisters. This was the first time that we have ever spent 7 days together. And together we were.....except when sleeping.

We talked and argued of course! We laughed and reminisced - we solved family mysteries and asked questions that presented more mysteries to be solved. We had an awesome time together.

But the reality of life came rushing in yesterday when I returned home........happy and sad at the same time... Sun, 13 Jan 2013 15:28:06 EST Happy New Year to you all - 2013 is coming fast! It is that time of year when we look forward to a new year - a new start perhaps - certainly new adventures. But I like to reflect on the year we are leaving behind.

For many out there it was horrendously horrible - the list of horrors would be long and very depressing so I will try to keep this light and positive.

a very close and dear friend was diagnosed with cancer early in the year - but has struggled to get thru that - radiation, chemo and surgery .....all in an a... And because he remarried there is the step-mom that is included as well - this meeting is taking place ... Well for that I did pay a visit to my hairdresser for a 'do'......

but today is the day...exactly 5 months to the day since my last cut....its all going.....not bald to the scalp but close....a buzz job ... Thu, 6 Oct 2011 07:26:00 EST the challenge of family tradition My daughter and I have a tradition of taking each other out for dinner on our birthdays. The restaurant is of the birthday girls choosing - within price reason.

Today I will be taking Emily out to a place in Burlington called Stonehouse.....lovely restaurant with a very nice atmosphere.

The trick is to try to eat what you want but not to over do it - a balancing act like no other when you love everything on the menu.

So to help myself....I have added to my f... Sun, 25 Sep 2011 07:28:47 EST a big change can come in a small way. Today I had my woman-cave repainted. It was a Maple Leaf in the Toronto Maple Leaf's....not a bad colour but the entire room not including the ceiling was that colour.

I finally had enough and knew for a while I needed to change I went to a very light pastel green - most of which will be covered by maps.

I realized a few years ago that I have an interest in maps. Sun, 13 Feb 2011 17:09:47 EST coffee I love coffee....

But I realized recently that I was taking in too many 'incidental calories' thru things like coffee.....each cup depending on the size of the cup etc....can add up to about 70 calories or more...and that included sugar. And I did the math and I figured if I eliminated two cups a day - for a year - it equaled 10 pounds.....that is huge. So I decided to cut back on two of the 5 cups I was drinking per day.

And I realized since early January that I have su... Fri, 14 Jan 2011 06:41:24 EST sparkearth There is a feature on spark that is exclusive to Americans - and to be honest I have no idea why. I realize there are legal complications around contests that involve prizes so as a Canadian I can not even enter any of the contests on Spark which makes me feel like an outsider. And then the Sparkearth thing.

SO why can others NOT get involved in a similar challenge - Calling all Canucks, Beckoning the British and so on.
