From the milk used (how much fat) to the flavorings added (how much sugar), you know what wholesome ingredients are included.

I also like to invent recipes for my yogurt flavors, and try different things. This is a sequential writeup on some things that I tried that succeeded, and a few that failed too. From mix ins/blended, to fruit on the bottom, to toppings, I really think the opport... It is actually fun, easy, good, and I think good for the world too (no more little plastic containers!). I have wanted to share this process with my SparkFriends, so last batch I took some pictures.

No excessive equipment required. A pan, a thermometer, and a small cooler. Ingredients are milk and a starter yogurt. Flavor options are endless though, and I will talk about that in my next blog.

I make 6 cu... I normally run at lunchtime, but I was trying to finish up a project, and the time kept ticking along. So I didn't get to run until after work instead. T... Sat, 20 Apr 2013 22:17:01 EST Compliments http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5327447 Sometimes, I think it takes longer to 'see' results. After all, we wear the same clothes, and our friends and coworkers and even our selves see us day in and day out. The change day to day might be so tiny. But after some months, if anyone thinks to remember back, only then can see the change and it is amazing.

I am generally a quiet and private person. I don't shout to my coworkers or even friends that I am trying to lose weight. A couple of my friends and I have discussed it... Thu, 18 Apr 2013 10:21:44 EST c25k - week 6 day 2 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5326614 Well, it is Wednesday, so that means another episode of C25K.

We have been having big thunderstorms recently. I really thought this would end up being an inside run. But it looked like maybe it wouldn't rain for 30+ minutes, and I could run outside. I don't really know why this is, but something about running inside -- I feel like it is cheating or something. So I was happy to get to run outside, and I didn't even get rained on.

Stats:
35:24 minutes
2.7 mil... Wed, 17 Apr 2013 15:13:25 EST c25k - week6 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5324108 Day 1 completed! It felt like a relief to 'ONLY' run 5/8/5 jog segments, with recovery breaks, after the completion of the 20 last week. But it is cool because I know I 'CAN' do 20 at a time, so therefore this was easy. Hmmm.

A nice 63 degrees and breezy and overcast today, not too bad out for running. Some trees and daffodils are in bloom along my route too, nice to see the flowers.

No asthma today :)

Stats:
35:27 minutes
2.76 miles
4.7 avg... Mon, 15 Apr 2013 14:19:41 EST c25k - w5d3 - 20 minutes http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5320907 Wow! I did it! I made it through week5 day 3, which was a 20 minute run!

Today is 45 and breezy and overcast. Some would say it is cool, but I actually found it to be quite comfortable for running.

I was quite apprehensive about the 20 minutes, but I made it through. I did notice at about 16 that I was slowing down to nearly a crawl, and had to give myself a little pep talk to continue. But I didn't stop running along. I knew it would feel so good to write this an... Fri, 12 Apr 2013 14:09:04 EST c25k - week 5 - day 2 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5318492 Week 5 Day 2

Today was
(5 minute warm-up walk)
8 minute run
5 minute walk
8 minute run
(5 minute cool down walk)

It is a nice day here, although the potential for thunderstorms. 78 degrees. From a running perspective, I hope that it does not get any warmer, I was HOT HOT HOT running today. A bit windy too, but that doesn't really bother me too much. At least I had a short sleeve shirt, pretty soon I will need shorts!

8 minutes is a... Wed, 10 Apr 2013 13:44:45 EST c25k - week 5 - rain cant stop me http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5316000 Week 5 is interesting because it ramps up at each day.

So today, the first day, it was 3 5 minute runs, interspersed with 3 minute walks. So that one was pretty easy, and it proved to be so. Wednesday will be 2 8 minute runs, with a 5 minute walk in between. That sounds ok too. Friday will be the challenge, with a full 20 minute run.

As for today ... it is time to run. Go outside and check the weather. It is overcast, and a little breezy. Hmmm. Do I run outside... Mon, 8 Apr 2013 14:32:52 EST Biking update http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5311211 Recall, that these are my summer goals:

1.) Ride a metric century (62 miles) in a day.
2.) Ride 100 miles in a weekend.
3.) Ride 1000 miles in the season.

The weather has been on and off so far, but we have managed to get in 3 rides.
Sat March 23 - 27 miles. A beautiful day. Then it snowed the next day.
Sat March 30 - 34 miles. Also nice. Easter day was kinda rainy.
Wed April 3 - 20 miles. First time we were able to ride in the evening. A ... Thu, 4 Apr 2013 09:53:28 EST Easter Confessions http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5307877 Easter weekend was wonderful. Saturday we rode our bikes for 31 miles. Then dyed eggs with my friend and her son.

It was a bit disappointing without my parents here (they usually are), but hubby and I had a quiet Easter day and dinner just for us. I did get to try lamb chops for dinner (dinner was yummy).

Treat wise, I couldn't resist just a little bit of Easter goodies. There was a beautiful dark chocolate peanut butter egg made by the local chocolatier at the sto... Mon, 1 Apr 2013 17:49:12 EST C25K - Week 4 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5307799 Week 4

First day completed! This one included 3 and 5 minute runs. I ran in my neighborhood.

5 minutes felt like a long time at a time. But I didn't stop, I pushed through, and completed each segment. I also walked about 4 minutes extra at the end, because that was just how my loop worked out, but I appreciated the extra walking.

I may have been breathing like a diesel engine, but I didn't need to use my inhaler. It was not actually warm outside, but I wa... Mon, 1 Apr 2013 16:21:19 EST C25K - Week 3 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5299658 Week 3!

Apparently Mother Nature has it in for me on Mondays. But I'll not be deterred. Today we had lots of snow. I really considered running outside, but with the sidewalks covered by about 2 inches, and the sides of the road full of slush, I decided that it would not be smart or safe.

So off to the rec center again to run on the indoor track.

I was a little worried about the 3 minute segments this week. But really they were OK. They felt longer, but I ... Mon, 25 Mar 2013 14:58:35 EST
